Bought VIP tickets for my daughter and me to see the Minecraft movie--$30 each, which felt steep at first. But wow, totally worth it! I thought I was just paying for reclining seats, but they included unlimited popcorn, soda, and ICEEs. Such a great surprise. Not sure I can ever go back to regular tickets again. Well done, Regal! Only downside: the popcorn ran out midway through the movie, so I had to walk to the regular concession stand for a refill, which was a bit of a trek. Also, since everything is self-serve, it got a little messy. But overall, still a fantastic experience! read more

Friendly staff, exciting modern decor, clean (including the bathroom), and nice choices for refreshments are a great start, and I like that you take refreshments to your seat instead of having them delivered like in some other high-end theaters. The seats, at least in the 4DX theater, are comfortable but not luxurious, and that's fine with me. What I LOVE are the screen and projection, the sound, and... the 4DX! 4DX may not work for everyone, or for all movies, but Twister remake preview that we saw was a blast, and so was the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire preview, which helped us get the laughing at the 4DX effects out of our system, but the main event really showed how 4DX can support a film. While the great screen, projection, and sound of IMAX are important for a spectacular movie like Dune:Part Two, it's almost hard to imagine it without the 4DX. 4DX brings Orlando and Las Vegas style entertainment media excitement to Frederick. The seats shaking like on a rollercoaster and the wind are the foremost and most famous effects, and the vapors and flashes of fire are certainly exciting, but I was even more impressed by the feelings brought on by the changes in point of view from the comparatively subtle tilted of the seat. Looking forward to finding another movie that is likely to benefit from 4DX and returning. Oh, yeah, and we enjoyed Dune:Part Two a lot. read more

The theater is under renovations, which is great for the area and for the facility, however, choosing to go to the movies here cost you so much more than going to other theaters. You would think that what your offered would be better, but that was not the case. the prices do not match the service and the experience being sold. The popcorn was disgusting. It wasn't hot. The urge to wander to a theater overtook us. So, we did just that. The first thing we saw was open during the renovation as we got close to the front door. 1. you couldn't tell (other than a work crew just inside the door) that the place was being renovated. 2. Clean and well set up! Overall, of course, you have to be fair. The quality of a theater is as much the movie you are seeing as the overall theater. But the Regal is awesome. The theaters are being remodeled--but they are doing a good job keeping the construction out-of-sight. All of the theaters are quite large to accommodate a lot of people. I would like it if the seats reclined and were heated. The bathrooms are very nice and are always clean. The popcorn is very good and is better than at a lot of theaters. I'm looking forward to seeing what food and drink options they add once the construction is done. read more

We went to see the k pop demon hunters movie. Well come to find out it hadn't been working the showtime before us, we didn't get notified about the movie not playing so we went. Ours didn't end up working either and they played previews for 30 minutes after start time until the lights went back on and the screen went blank, there was no one working to fix it so we had to figure out ourselves that it wasn't going to be playing. Then we waited around for 30 minutes to get a refund, VERY unprofessional and VERY disappointed. read more

I agree with many of the reviews that this theatre needs a major makeover. But if you took the time to speak with some of the managers and ask questions you learn a few things. They are remodeling, they are changing the seats to recliners. They are adding the new version in the IMAX to include the chair sensors and smells to enhance the experience of movies that utilize this technology. They are also looking to upgrade the concession offerings. Seating reservations are easy if you by at the theater self-service kiosks or ticket booth. You can eliminate Fandango by joining the Regal Movie Pass program and only pay .50 cents per ticket. It's also a great program. Yes the cleaning could be better and the seats are messed up (can't understand why people cut the up). Some staff have been rude and lacking in customer centric skills as I have experienced all too often. Yes the costs are a bit higher and why we go to Gaithersburg or Rockville. Cost matters when planning a family movie outing or date night. Come on Regan Popcorn is very cheep and to make it is low because of the volume yield you get. And do t get started on candy or other concession stand items. Overall go, spend a few hours in a move that transports you into a Fantasy adventure or comedy or whatever your into. This is solely in reference to the imax here. Don't waste your money ! It isn't much larger than the regular movie screen, it was blurry and def not even high definition. And the chairs were so uncomfortable I had to get up 4 times just to straighten out my back. They aren't lounge chairs. My family and I have been coming to this theater for the past 2 years. Today was NOT a good experience. Management (specifically Amelia) this evening they didn't have the cherry slushy ready. Then we decided to order small drinks because we could get the slushy that we always get, and for the small drink they don't have tops. Sooo, I explained I don't want a drink in public without a top. So I asked for the net size up as a courtesy that has a top. Amelia came out and was an absolute rude & disrespectful human! While I talking to my husband asking what he wants, she interrupted rudely to ask what we wanted. With a very unprofessional tone Amelia told us we could have a Med or large drink. And she was not upgrading the cups, and confirmed she didn't care about the inconvenience and confirmed what they were. I asked her to please step aside and let the nice gentleman help. It seemed ok. The main positive is that it's built into the larger Westview Promenade, making it really accessible to a lot of stores, outdoor walking, and parking. The facility itself feels a bit on the older side, with an atrium that somehow seems a bit larger than it should be, and with leather seats which seems rarer for Regal. The theaters otherwise had no major issue. Not bad, but not great. read more

Helps avoid having to arrive early for good seating. I typically have always been able to find seating for sold out shows at this theater. My go to theater for popular showings. For the price, I'm surprised so many people frequent this location aside from the convenience in location. A ticket is about $14 each, the snacks are outrageously expensive, and the theater has some aspects of it that could definitely be renovated. Some pros: -theater is up to date with new movies -has many individual movies shown at once -offers several bathroom locations with many stalls -theaters are easy to navigate -staff is usually friendly and helpful! Some cons: -weekends seem to be understaffed near the concession area and wait times can top 15 minutes -theaters are always crazy cold -the prices, as before mentioned, are wild for what you're getting -the walls are thin, so sometimes you can hear the movies playing on either side of you -getting stale popcorn is common -most theaters nowadays offer alcohol and have reclining seats and tickets are $7-10. I'm not sure what this location is going for. :( I frequented this location for a while and have fond memories here! Now that I have kids, it's an arm and a leg to be able to afford a movie for all of us. I'm hoping to find an alternative soon. read more

Just left the IMAX theater after watching Dune, and I won't be going to Regal again! The place STANK like dirty gym socks, the sound was cranked up to eleven, and the show that was supposed to begin at 7:50 only started after an eternity of screeching loud commercials and trailers for lame movies (say 20 minutes late). And I paid about $25 bucks for this abuse! Well, never again, I'll stay at home and watch the Dune sequel in comfort next time. The theatre is in the process of a makeover which is very good. Staff was friendly. However, the biggest disappointment was that the chairs did not recline, they were a manual recline without a footrest. For short people like myself to have to push yourself back make for an uncomfortable 2.5 hour movie. We did ask if any of the theaters would have footrest and they said when the renovation is complete certain areas will be called luxury and have a footrest! read more

Managers are extremely rude and disrespectful. They try to abuse their "power" and attempt to make sure nobody has a good time at their theater. Very said this didn't used to be the case. The teenage workers have it rough. The managers feel the need to show their power as they are always berating employees right in front of customers. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! Their lines take forever because they have 1-2 open for both tickets and food. It's absolutely ridiculous. Even if you arrive early, you'll spend 30+ mins in line. Didn't have reclining seats which seems to be a standard nowadays but we still had to reserve seating online which I actually like to avoid sold out shows. Smelled kind of musty and we could hear laughter from the theater next to us. Service at the concession stand was slow but food was decent and I like to butter my own popcorn but they don't have that option here. Seems like they had to call a manager or some help from the back to process the orders faster. Made it in time to miss the opening credits and see the start of the movie, thankful for slow concession stands and reserved seating. All in all, until they renovate I doubt I'd be back. read more

So disappointed with our experience tonight at the Westview Theater. We were greeted with Long Lines and all movie tickets had to be purchased at the snack/popcorn stand. Over 6 lines and everyone had to wait for people to buy their treats just to buy your movie tickets. We stood in line over 45 min without knowing if our movie was sold out etc. it was sooo inefficient!!! The theater was filthy, understaffed and many of the bathrooms were closed. The one woman's bathroom that was open was out of toilet paper! Shame on Regal Westview Theater!!! For the price you charge for our tickets and snacks to have such a gross experience is a shame! This is your average movie theater. Tickets and food are outrageously expensive. The seating is fairly comfortable and the theater is pretty clean. I don't think the Imax is worth the cost, it is not as big as the imax screens at the Smithsonian. There are definitely not any better theaters in Frederick and this place is just fine to see a movie. read more

Then we got there, the ticket box could not award us our rewards points because we had fandango tickets. Unless we went to the manager... that needs a fix. Finally, if the theater is going to allow car seats and babies, please charge them for an extra seat. There was a small confrontation when there were no seats left for a movie and a family thought is was okay to take up a seat using their car seat. When he was asked to move it he was ornery and thought that space was his even though he did not pay for it. I'm writing this do that hopefully someone will do something to fix this place. My family and I have been going to this theater for as long as I can remember. We have been in the area since 2001, so since then or whenever they opened if it was after that. Can't remember that far back What I CAN remember is that the service has been solid that whole time. Nothing spectacular but nothing worth complaining about. That has all changed over the past few months. Don't know why, but it is noticeably different. The concession lines have consistently been extremely long and slow. I understand that sometimes the volume is high but that should be planned for and had been in the past. The kids working the lines are nice but not in any hurry to move people through. Process seems very inefficient compared to other theaters. Today when we finally got to the front after 20 minutes, they were completely out of all pretzels, bottled waters and root beer. This was 1pm on a Monday. Then they were 10 minutes late starting the movie, maybe because half the audience was still in line? Dunno. That was unusual. In any case, seems like having a single line instead of 6 lines where you have to hope you picked a fast line would help. Also, maybe just have people take orders and then move to the side while others fill the orders? Like fast food places do.. take the order, name and theater # and have us wait on the side our theater is on. I will still go to this theater but it's maddening that this has broken down. read more

Can you leave no stars? I would sure hope so as they earned none! After scanning our tickets we were told our particular theater had no AC. We were offered a refund or reschedule but, already being here, quite far away from home, we weren't going to be coming back before our movie was gone so, we chose to stay. At the snack stand we asked for some kettle corn seasoning with our popcorn and they had none, we wanted a frozen Pepsi drink but, they did not have the Pepsi flavor. We looked for a popcorn salt shaker and there was none. We tried to get ice cream but their card reader wasn't working right so they couldn't run the card. The seats in the theater are as uncomfortable as can be...fake leather vinyl that you can sit straight up in or lean the back, back and then risk sliding off the seat. No recliner feature! Hoping our movie is better than this theater. I won't be coming back here unless it's for free. read more

Regal now charges a fee for assigned seating to the tune of $3.00 per ticket. This is in addition to the inflated ticket price and online purchase fees. The additional expenses make this theater a more costly option than higher end theaters in Montgomery County. The food is sub par and the theaters have a musty, foul odor to them that reek of stale popcorn and dirty socks. While the arm rests can be lifted, the seats are in desperate need of repair from rips and tears. They also don't recline. The cup holders are dirty and sticky from lack of cleaning. The same can be said for the floors which are always dirty from previous movie goers. The garbage containers at the theater exits are usually overflowing with trash. I'm not sure if this is a staffing issue or just careless business practices. While it is convenient to have assigned seating, the inflated fee falls short of being worthwhile. For example, the Arclight Cinema in Montgomery Mall offers assigned seating included in their ticket prices. The theater offers a far more modern and clean environment with greater food and drink options. We compared the cost between the two theaters (tickets for 2 adults and 1 child) and Arclight was $11 cheaper than Regal for the same movie and time. For a large family, the difference would be considerable. There are many other theaters that are closer in to Frederick than Arclight and all seem to fare better than Regal in their overall experience. Regal seems to be taking advantage of being the only game in town and Frederick residents are paying dearly for it. We've been loyal patrons of Regal Westview since opening day, but we won't be going back there again. read more

This place is quickly going downhill. You have to reserve a seat now?! We got there 45 minutes before the movie to watch previews & get good seats. That didn't work. Found out we would have had to buy the tickets online & PAY A CONVENIENCE FEE?! It's already $16 per ticket, now you want to squeeze out an extra $2 per ticket?
