What a wonderful lakefront addition--nice food, GREAT service, wonderful setting with scenic views of Lake Michigan. Go early before the youngsters take over -- 21 and over helps!!! I'll be back.

*The Setting: 5 Stars. Beautiful beachfront location makes it almost seem like you are right on the ocean and not in Chicago BUT you can still see the amazing Chicago skyline. *The Vibe: 5 Stars. Cool, laid back, chill, fun and if you go earlier in the day relaxing. *The Service: 2 Stars. It's pretty much a roll of the dice.. It MIGHT be decent or even good and it MIGHT be abhorrent and bicchy . We got a mix of both during our visit. *The Food / Drink : 2.5- 3 Stars.. Again it's a roll of the dice. Overpriced But I can say the Wings Mozz Sticks and Salads are quite good. (I'd give those items 4 stars) The Burger is ok. But don't DARE ATTEMPT to order a "Portabella burger" it sounds delicious but what came to the table was.. stiff, cold, "vintage" tomato focaccia "bun" , dr with 1 small SQUISHED FLAT, Floppy Portabella cap sprinkled in "mud" (which was supposedly a micro dash of goat cheese) for $17-18. It was promptly sent back but not before a passive aggressive exchange with the manager asking "what's the problem? Why don't you want it" ... which I told her and she asked "so why don't you LIKE it " AGAIN. So this time stopped explanation and just said "no thank you, I don't like it and you can have it back." I was not going to argue.. and I didn't. This is when our small party (4 and a child) paid the bill (gratuity is included) and got food from the locals grilling in the park. TIP. Bring your Beach chair / Blanket, Umbrella and Cooler with snacks & beverages (no glass bottles). Find a spot NEAR Reggie's and enjoy the SAME view, music, vibe withOUT the hassle, roll of the dice service and automatic gratuity.

I've been here twice, only because of the location. It's right on the beach and walking distance for me. So that's great. The first time I got one drink (technically charged for 2, since a bee fell into my 1st one and they don't remake drinks lol, it's on the front of their menu) and some food that I didn't enjoy. After my first visit, I vowed not to buy food from here because it just wasn't worth it. But I stopped by recently for a drink on a random Monday after a walk and the staff was actually pleasant this time. I sat on the inner bar section instead of the one near the sand instead. Not sure if they'll see me again, but who knowssss, maybe I'll want a drink after a walk again ‍

You come here solely for a restaurant that's literally sitting on the beach. It's not the worst food in the world but there's definitely nothing amazing nor worth a return visit. There's two separate sitting areas & if you can opt for the tables closer to the lakefront. The chicken wings were sort of bland albeit boasting (best in the city). The quesadilla was downright horrific. Flavorless & the cheese sucked. Not even pico de gallo nor sour cream cold help. Lastly the fried shrimp were decent. If your indulging in the place just know the view & the ambiance are the star of the show with the food being merely accessories

    Bug in drink.

It is also conveniently located on the same block as two of his other spots. I have been twice now and had a great experience each time. I am especially glad they did away with the reservation deposit. It makes planning a visit much easier. Most recently, I stopped by for their all day Sunday happy hour, which was a great vibe. They have expanded the food menu since my first visit, and everything I tried was solid. The empanada was my favorite, the quesabirria was really good, and the chicken torta was delicious. On my first visit, I only had the guacamole, which I also enjoyed. The decor is beautiful and intimate, creating a great atmosphere, and the music is always on point. The staff has been friendly and welcoming every time I have gone. This place is definitely staying in my regular rotation.

We tried the Jushu which I loved the glass it came in and the drink was great but definitely not mango-y. My friend ordered the tamale and I tried just a bite to see. We think it's not very spicy and wish the tomatillo came through more. For me as a vegetarian, I think this is a great place to get drinks but I wouldn't come here expecting a full dinner. Which, I think is the point with their small menu! Everything came out super fast, everyone was very attentive. It was early on a Saturday so it was very quiet but they had good music playing. Definitely a cute addition to the neighborhood!

The building is surrounded by barbed wire and the entrance is locked, so walking up to it feels less like arriving at a venue and more like checking into a correctional facility. Then came the door staff. The attitude was completely unnecessary. If you're going to charge a cover, at least be professional about it. I was initially told the wrong cover amount, and when I asked about an ATM since they only take cash, I was basically told to go find one down the street. In 2026, we're still cash-only for cover charges? Be serious. After finally getting inside, I quickly realized I had paid $10 for the privilege of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers because there was literally nowhere to sit. The place was packed, which is great for business, but not so great for customers who are expected to pay a cover and then spend the entire night standing around. I stayed about 30 minutes because my friends were there, but the vibe had already been ruined at the door. Nothing kills a night out faster than rude customer service before you've even made it inside. By the way when I was leaving, the rude door person had the nerve to tell me that if I came back right away she wouldn't charge me, but if I didn't come back right away she would charge me again the $10. I told her don't worry I would never be back. I love supporting Black-owned businesses and was excited to check this place out. Unfortunately, good customer service should come with the experience, and that was completely missing. Between the prison-yard first impression, cash-only cover charge, misinformation, overcrowding, and rude door staff, this was a one-and-done experience for me. I won't be back.

I finally had actual catfish, something I haven't had in a while since maybe going to Virtue (keep that name in your pocket for later), we had calamari, which was ok, and my entree came with mashed potatoes which were good once I added a pinch of salt (at home because they didn't have salt or pepper on the table). Now for everything else- We waited a little bit to be seen and then be seated. We made reservations in advance, as it was my mom's 86th birthday so we were all excited that there was a place nearby to dine that didn't involve going to Hyde Park. Anyway, once seated we waited close to 20 minutes for water. There seemed to be one server with someone shadowing him in our section, so my sister asked him if he could get us water. He told us our server would be with us shortly in a pretty dismissive way. My sister then asked the host if someone was going to come and take our order, by this time we had been sitting for over 20 minutes, in bright light with Afro Beats blasting too loudly over the speaker (yall can't make a mix of different genres?). The host ended up taking our order and then our server came over, taking our order again until we told her we had already put in everything. The food came out pretty quickly but that was it. The servers kind of were also runners. Once the food was on the table that was it, nothing else. No one asked us about anything, you were on your own. My mom did ask for a dessert that sold out and after we told the server it was her birthday, she went to the kitchen and they did us a solid. And she said the bread pudding was good. We watched folks nearby sit just as long for food leave after an appetizer. Honestly it's no surprise because after getting the bill I realized this is Virtue pricing without hardly any of what makes that restaurant successful. I would come back, but maybe on a slower evening. Hopefully things will work out and get better, at least dim those lights and turn the music down a bit.
