Had a reservation Mother's Day. Walked in it was very very hot! I am always hot. However my mother who is always cold and my husband who is usually fine said it is hot. I had asthma and immediately felt tightness. Waitress came to seat us. I told the waitress I had asthma and would they be able turn on the air. She said I wish they would it's so hot. So we sat down. Then the owner Stephanie came over and said we will not turn on the air. And was rude! Then said to cone into the kitchen. She opened the door and said to her husband this is the lady who is leaving because it's to hot! So I said so I'm a customer who comes here and are you telling me not to come back? She then saluted the flag and said bye. Wow how rude how unprofessional. And talk about not caring about your customers. And what about your staff that's running around like they're crazy and they're sweating. She doesn't have to worry about me ever coming there again. There are many more restaurants in the area. In fact when we left there and went somewhere else as soon as we walked in, there was air-conditioning on. And when I commented to the manager, she said you have to keep your customer and your staff comfortable. She's 100% right. I guess at Renato's the customers don't matter shame on them. read more

I have eaten here since it opened in the 80's and always loved it, but not this time. Haven't been in a while and I was very disappointed this time. The service was very slow even though there were 3 wait staff and only 6 tables occupied. The food portion was very small. I ordered chicken and got 4 tiny, thin medallions... less than one whole chicken breast. And they now charge a service charge to use a credit card. I've decided I won't frequent places that do that... so I won't return. read more

Food: the onion soup absolutely delicious as was the fried mozzarella. The LASAGNA however had no taste. It appears the chef doesn't include garlic, romano fromagio, oregano in the meat which lines the pasta. The gravy is however delicious--. The bland meat kills the dish. Bread: hot and delicious too. While this is northern Italian cooking, that's not an appropriate characterization of the lasagna-- it was not Italian re: spices regardless of location! And we're Northern Italian. Service: A+ . young woman who was attentive, prompt, professional and clearly loved doing her job. Brava!! Ambiance: Absolutely lovely setting. Once someone's home--wooden appointments stunning and decoration was well done. We'll be back and try some other dishes or maybe offer to cook the meat for the lasagna! read more

Quaint little restaurant. Visited for a baby shower and had most of the restaurant to ourselves. We had a 3 course meal starting with salad, choice of entree and dessert. The salad was a small house salad and they served a palette cleanser in between. I had the chicken francese for my entree. Great flavor and served with a small side of pasta. Serving wasn't huge but was filling. For dessert I had coffee and a chocolate cake. The cake was a bit dry and had no frosting. It also took a while for the waitress to bring cream for the coffee, and we never got any sugar. I'm not in the area often, but it seems like a cute spot for a family dinner. read more

Happy to experience Reginato's return to fine dining after a recent wonderful meal and with price fixe $18 dinners it was also quite a good deal. Service was almost too attentive. White tablecloths added to it's old world charm in a former home. Meals start with a small loaf of bread still warm. Salads were small but tasty with dressing options and extra tasty tidbits. Pasta sides or vegetables accompany entrees such as sole almond one or chicken parmigiana. My choice was chicken francese, which was delicious and tender. I also had the appetizer special which was stuffed portobello mushrooms. Although the restaurant claims to be "Northern Italian " , the menu suggests otherwise. Many ala carte items to choose from. Dessert options on the special menu were adequate. Started with a tasty Negroni, one of their tempting choices. All in all a great dinner. Highly recommend. While it was nice, I was a bit disappointed given the reviews I read and what I had heard about Reginato from friends in the area. The food was good, but not terribly interesting. And I felt like some of the tried and true Italian offerings didn't quite hit the mark for me. I should also say that due to a scheduling snafu tied to a fundraiser, which I understand wasn't entirely their fault, they were quite understaffed that evening. I should have written this review a LONG time ago, so I feel badly that I didn't. I was there with my mother for the early bird special (what an incredible deal!) and my mother all of a sudden didn't feel well. I asked for help and I sure got it. They helped pull out the table and helped me get her down the ramp to the car. They were wonderful all around!!!! The food is delicious, the service is fabulous and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gem of a place. They even wrapped up her dessert so she would have it when she felt better. What wonderful people - the atmosphere is great, the people are great, the food is great, what more could you ask for? read more

Isn't there something called Covid, this place was packed like a can of sardines, tables side by side, etc.. Yes, that's when we should have left but we didn't. We stayed and were totally uncomfortable throughout our meal. The meal itself was edible but nothing special, everything had excessive salt, the veal, the chicken, the sauce, the spaghetti, all were very salty to the point you could not taste the food. The menu has been trimmed down and there were entree's we tried to order that they did not have. It just turned out to be an uncomfortable disappointing experience. The one bright spot was that the service our waitress afforded us was excellent. read more

One of the better Italian restaurants in the Hudson Valley of NY! My most recent experience was 15 others in my family. We were seated in the upstairs dining room and we had it all to ourselves on a Sunday evening. I had broiled scallops and they were perfectly prepared with lemon, olive oil and garlic. My daughter had the spinach raviol and was thrilled with it. My son had a custom order of gnocchi with their al fredo sauce. My wife had the veal picate and it was even good reheated the next day. There was no greeter nor did the bartender offer assistance when we entered the restaurant for the first time ever. Several people were at the small bar and seemed to be happy. After a minute one of the waitresses saw us and let us know in a friendly tone she would seat us in a moment. We were seated and given menus promptly. The waitress was very friendly and told us the specials. I interrupted her since the specials were seafood and I am allergic..she let us know the one non seafood special and left us to look over the menus. When she returned she served us freshly baked bread loaf still hot with chilled butter to the side, and a fresh veggie plate. As I started to eat the veg she stopped me from the dip , she apologized and said she needed to check if it has anchovy ...she returned happily informed me it was anchovy free, and very tasty I must say. I started with soup it was a light beef broth with roasted tomato and small vegetables. Very delicious, perfectly seasoned. I then had a salad with restaurant made Giardiniera. Not the over vinegar store brand stuff. My main course was spaghetti Bolognese and my fiance had chicken parmesan. Before they arrived we were served a scoop of what tasted like fresh lemon sorbet(a pallet cleanser ) by fresh I mean I think they actually squeezed lemons and made the sorbet earlier today for the dinner service. I have only been served like this at a wedding I attended years ago. The pasta was perfectly cooked for mine and his side. The portion size was good, full but not over full. The pasta tasted like it was pre coated with garlic butter before being sauced. I am not accustomed to this, but it did add a richness to the dish. His chicken was cooked to perfection and sauces perfectly, not to much not to little. Fresh cheese was grated table side as pepper was with the salad earlier. For dessert I ordered the almond joy special , chocolate ice cream and coconut ice cream rolled in almonds and coated in chocolate, he ordered the peanut butter and chocolate mouse in chocolate ganache. The coconut was delicious and the chocolate shell was high quality not a waxy restaurant supply but more along ghiaradelli with the center chocolate smooth and silky. His he said tasted like fresh peanuts . He said he has had peanut butter mousse before but not like this. He wanted to wrap himself up in it. I am not kidding, he said that. The coffee I had with mine was a classic Italian coffee flavor, I don't know if they grind it or not, but it did not tasted like standard restaurant green mountain. Overall I would say go here and try them. This is a sit down take a while take a date place. We will be back. Before we left they let us know if we come before 6 next time they offer a 5 course dinner for about $14 each. !!!! See the pictures. read more

We were scouting out Italian restaurants in the Tivoli NY area, as we had our wedding up there this past weekend and wanted to have a nice family rehearsal dinner the night before, and were looking for something different than hitting up the downtown Rhinebeck area. I saw the reviews for Reginato Ristorante and figured they would be good to try. We opted to go for the outdoor seating area for our party of 16 folks, and it worked out very well. Even with a slight misunderstanding with the reservation date, they were able to quickly prepare and be fully ready for us right when we showed up only 20 minutes after I called to check. Very nice service in beginning and throughout the evening. We had a nice long dinner beginning with family-style appetizers, individual entrees, and nice light fruit dessert. Pair with that some decent red wine (malbec is one of my favs so we chose some of that to go around), and you have all the ingredients for a proper family dinner. Everyone was very happy with the flavors of the dishes, we all were quite full, and the patio was very suitable even though we were worried about mosquitoes (never really became a problem, was great). Second try here and much better this time around. Came early again in hope to find something on the early bird menu and this time we scored. We sat downstairs (much nicer atmosphere) had a very helpful and friendly server, and navigated the menu better. Last time we couldn't find anything on the early bird menu and wound up spending big time on entrees that weren't quite worth it. This time there were some nice options on the early bird menu including Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Francaise, Linguine with Mussels and a few others. I ordered the Parmesan and my dinner companion had the Francaise. Both were nice sized portions (not as big as the full entrees, but given all the other extras we had plenty of food.) were prepared well, and come with a side of pasta that was still very al dente, but not too stiff like last time. The chicken in the Parmesan was pounded flat (as it should be) and still crispy with a nice sauce and mozzarella cheese. The Francaise had a lovely sauce that was much better than the Marsala sauce we had had at out previous dinner. The early bird dinner also included the veggies and dipping sauce, soup or salad (had the Minestrone this time and it was outstanding,) the lemon sorbet, coffee or tea, and ice cream or cake. We both had the chocolate cake and it was quite delicious. So, this time the entrees were executed much better, and even with two glasses of wine the bill was under forty dollars before tip. An excellent value and a lovely dining experience. Rereading my other review, I think everything I wrote is still valid, so please read that as well to avoid a less than full potential experience here. Bottom line: call ahead and find out what's on the early bird dinner, stick with the more straightforward entrees, don't eat all the bread, order the wonderful soup instead of the salad, and you'll have a great time. read more

We were visiting the Hudson valley and did not know where to eat dinner. Luckily, we found this hidden Italian restaurant located it what looked like a colonial home. The bread came out promptly and was freshly baked. Soft and fluffy on the inside with just enough crisp on the outside. I ordered the cheese ravioli drenched in tomato sauce. The dinner order came with at least 8 pieces. I tried the BOMBA for dessert. Chocolate and vanilla gelato covered with a hard chocolate shell. It was absolutely amazing and delicious The only recommendation I would suggest is that the parking lot would be more visible to guests arriving for dinner. It was really dark and confusing as to where the entrance was. Otherwise, this family owned restaurant deserves four stars! read more

Good food, lots of it, fair prices, and a great atmosphere. Service is very good, especially with large groups. Personally, I recommend the chicken parm; it's excellent. One word of caution: If you're looking for a place to go where you'll be in and out in an hour or less, this is NOT it. I went for lunch after a family function, and was there over two hours. I am Italian and have been coming since childhood with my parents. The Italian food is traditional old school Italian and very tasty and fresh. The service is pleasant and timely and the ambiance is traditional, the on reason not 5 star is because the interior could use a facelift but the food and price are both exceptional. Off the beaten path and worth the visit. The chicken Marsala over linguine and the rigatoni and the steak are my favorites. Reginato Ristorante-Was my absolute favorite since they opened. Our birthday group of 8 went many times a year in addition to regular frequenting. Groups of 15 for milestones. Our bills ranged from $200-500 each time. Even did my bachelorette party there 10 yrs ago. We were great customers and brought our friends & family there. Food always fabulous. But then, things changed. We had 2 very poor customer service experiences. We gave them a 2nd chance. Our group decided not to return for many years. Maybe 8 yrs? Last November I decided to try again with a party of 15. The customer service was so unhelpful that we didn't make the reservation. They lost a $500 bill. What happened Reginatos? I love your food. We were there on New Year's Eve in a party of eight, and we sat upstairs. Our server was great - very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was fantastic, as I have found each time I have been there. I had the chicken parmigiana, which my bf said was the best he's ever had. Everyone was happy with their meals, and appetizers (we had calamari, clams, shrimp cocktail and the stuffed portabello). The prices are beyond reasonable, and each dinner includes fresh, warm bread, a salad, crudite and a sorbet course. As it was New Year's, we were definitely enjoying our drinks and, quite possibly, a bit on the loud side. Unfortunately, we disturbed the other group upstairs. I sent over a bottle of champagne by way of apology, which they declined. The owner returned to our table to let us know, and gave us the champagne on the house. A very generous gesture, but indicative of the service I always receive here. They consistently go above and beyond my expectations. As someone who spent ten years bartending, waiting tables and managing restaurants and a wedding business, I have to say I LOVE this place. I just hope we are welcome back! read more

This is a small off the main road family run ristorante. The service and food is great. The owners Kevin and Stephanie, who just love what they do, will happily stay and chat with you making it a very comfortable atmosphere. Kevin follows in his father Giannis' footsteps with great Italian dishes like eggplant rolotini , chicken francaise , rigatoni bolognese and more. Of course he adds his own special flare to them. I had the most amazing stuffed portabella mushroom. The meal starts with a loaf of warm bread , then comes your salad, a small scoop of sherbet to cleanse your palate, your main course and then desert. Very good food and waitress handled our large table very well. However, we were 10 minutes late for our reservation and the owner asked my cousin who made the reservation and told her we needed to be out by a certain time. I was the one who made the reservation and she approached me as well and told me the same thing in a nasty way. When I wasn't very receptive, she came to my table to let me know that she is the owner as if that meant something. I couldn't care less if she were the Queen of England. Anyone in the food industry knows that the food can never make up for customer service. I will never be back again. read more

Quaint,interesting spot... thought we had accidentally driven up to someone's house! Friends and I were having a pre-triathlon dinner. All meals came with soup or salad and then a delightful little palette-cleansing dollop of lemon sorbet. Three of us went with the chicken parmigiana, which was wholly generous with the lightly breaded chicken and served with a smaller, reasonable side of pasta with a delicious, sparing portion of tasteful, plump sauce. This was a pleasant break from places that overload you with pasta covered in thin, soupy sauce. For dessert, we chose the chocolate bundt cake--a small sliver of chocolate deliciousness.
