Tucked away in Highland NY, not far from Poughkeepsie, is this little gem. Charming atmosphere, and lots of character. Over 100 menu items, and good selection of wine by the glass or by the bottle, fairly priced. Portions are large, and everything is freshly prepared in the kitchen. A truly amazing restaurant. Playful staff, added to the enjoyment of the meal. I wish I had time to cover every entrée on the menu and every appetizer.

Beautiful service and atmosphere. If I could eat here every night of the week I would! The food is absolutely delicious. They're very deserving of the 5 stars.

Great little Italian restaurant that serves up market fresh ingredients, home made pasta's; delightful Italian dinners and desserts. While good quality wines are served by the glass only, the pour is extremely generous! The service, ambience and friendly hospitality is a rare commodity these days but rest assured, you will be in for a very nice dining experience at the Vigneto Cafe. So, stop by and see if you don't agree!

First time here. It was packed on Friday night, but we were accomodated swiftly. They didn't have a wine bottle list so we ended up ordering a bottle of house wine but for the price ($48!!) you're better off ordering by the glass 100%. Aside from this, the food was enjoyable and plentiful. Service was attentive and it was a nice atmosphere.

    Rigatoni Carbonara is amazing!!

I had Rigatoni Carbonara at Vigneto Cafe today. I give all of the credit to Leslie Morris Sewell ! She suggested I try it ,and it was the best. Well, Leslie was spot on! Dino, the owner hooked me up. Even though they don't serve lunch during the week. He made an exception for me. I also got Fried Calamari. Everything was fantastic!! The light coating was so crispy, yet the Calamari was so tender! I love it with lots of lemon and a little sauce. It was perfect! The Rigatoni Carbonara is better than anything I have ever had. The Rigatoni were full of sauce, bacon and fresh peas in every bite! And the serving is enough for 3 meals. It also came with a side salad and excellent house made Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. All in all I would give Vigneto Cafe a 10 out of 10!! Thanks Dino, you are a gem!!

You never know who you'll run in to enjoying Wednesday night at Vigneto's.

We arrived as soon as they opened and were some of the first there. The bar tender greeted us and we took our seats. He came over immediately and went through the entire menu with us. I ordered wine from their very large selection and my husband ordered a stout. They were out of his order so the bar tender brought over three similar options and explained them all. My husband picked one of the recommendations and it was a great beer. My wine was delicious. We ordered the Brie , burger, and my husband ordered their lomo. Everything was great truly. We just took our time and really enjoyed the space which was very cozy and relaxing. The best thing is going to a restaurant where wine and beer are their main focus and talking with staff that is enthusiastic about their products. Our waiter was great and we're sad we didn't get his name but he made the experience ten times better with his knowledge of wines and beers. We plan on returning very soon!!

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.

I've been ordering bourbon and scotch at bars around the world for decades and can't recall encountering that before. I wasn't bothered by the $3 nearly as much as the surprise charge with zero disclosure. Nothing on the cocktail menu. Nothing from the waiter. No indication whatsoever that asking for a large rock carried an additional charge. Charge whatever you want, but tell the customer before adding it to the bill. When I mentioned it, they graciously removed the charge, and I had a very pleasant conversation with a manager who understood the point and agreed it should be disclosed going forward. Since the Inn wasn't completely full, they offered to relocate us to another open room, we didn't ask, they just suggested it. The house is old, like real old, so expect some quirks like wide creaky floors etc. The beds were quiet though, which was the important thing. Each room is uniquely decorated. The Inn is a nice distance from busy areas but not so far as to be a hardship. It's extremely close to Angry Orchard's Innovation cider mill, a state park with great trails, and even a little college town. I could probably go on, but Yelp's review editor is giving me issues.
