There are so many well-known NYC spots that scream Instagram. But sometimes, depending where you're at, it's about having good food and drinks too and not even about looking for those Instagram staples anymore. Here at Reservoir Inn in West Hurley, NY- just a few minutes away from Woodstock, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time with the stone walls, rural location feel, displayed antique farming tools and a serious, cozy cabin feel where you can almost unwind. All it's missing is a fireplace with a roaring fire to add a warm glow during dinner. Hubs went by the not-so-rave reviews- plus, it's close to home. What adds an odd charm, is right when you're finished with dinner and head to your car, the sky is pitch dark- especially now since it's getting darker earlier with nothing to your left or right. And the only sounds you'll hear are the hoot of an owl and the gentle swish of leaves. The best spot in the house is the buzzing dining room. But while the dining room may appear large- there are no tables in the middle space. At least 6-7(?) tables line the walls and the covered patio has another few tables- so a reservation is a must. From seafood to poultry to bratwurst to pasta to falafel, etc, Reservoir's international menu is a very nice one. As we were told by locals, Reservoir Inn has changed hands with a new chef who's bringing his culinary school background and upped the entire game here. Conversation was super friendly from our bartender Karen and our server. Hubs went for the prime rib- but asked for an unusual request: for it to be charred. Kudos to the chef who still kept the meat to medium and added that char request. My teriyaki shrimp and udon was beyond plentiful. The shrimp were juicy- but the teriyaki made the udon a bit salty. Obviously the regulars seem to be coming back from what we noticed. Every detail of Reservoir adds a mood of simplicity combined with the unexpected and comfort.

Great food. Best chicken piccata I ever ate. We also loved the French onion soup. My wife and I agreed it was the best. She raved about the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu. And for dessert: a marvelous chocolate dish called Chocolate Pot Du Creme that just melted in your mouth. The decor reminded me of a hunting lodge with stone walls and a variety of regional implements adorning the ceiling beams. Tim - the owner and chef - and Karen - hostess and server - were fantastic and very friendly. Going to be going there a lot!

I can't say enough about this restaurant. We started going in 2014 and have been going ever since. We even had our wedding luncheon there. Tim is an amazing chef. I love his duck. I really have not found anyone else who makes it as good as Tim. My husband loves the beef stroganoff. Please do yourself a favor. Call and have Karen book you a table. Get the duck! Tell them Melanie sent you.

If you're craving Japanese comfort food, Eshin Ramen & Sushi is definitely worth a visit!…read more We tried a little bit of everything, and there was something to enjoy in every dish. The ramen was hearty and flavorful, topped with pork, a perfectly soft-boiled egg, bean sprouts, scallions, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. The pork had a nice grilled, smoky flavor, and the broth was rich and satisfying. The karaage was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor--definitely a must-try! We also enjoyed the sushi, which was fresh, nicely presented, and a great complement to the warm ramen. The dumplings were another favorite it was savory, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Overall, Eshin is a great spot when you want a variety of Japanese dishes all in one meal. From ramen and dumplings to karaage and sushi, everything made for a delicious and satisfying dining experience. Oh! We also tried their bubble tea and juice! Service was also fast, and the place was also very clean!

It's located inside the mall but let that scare you lol. They offer a surprisingly great dine in experience. It's one of those places that's easy to overlook until you actually sit down and realize it's much more than a mall food spot. My favorites? The Gyozas are always a must for me. The Taro Boba tea is hands down the best I've had in the Hudson Valley. I've tried quite a few and I keep coming back for this one. The Edamame is a solid starter, and if you're ordering to share, don't skip the Korean Fried Chicken. So good. I can't give you a ramen recommendation because that's just not my thing, but that's honestly what impressed me most. A restaurant known for ramen has me coming back regularly for everything else on the menu. If you're in the area, don't write it off just because it's in the mall.

From the pizza to the fresh mozzarella to the cook at home porchetta there has never been a miss and I am a critical foodie...but my god...everything is delicious. We picked up a porchetta for the holiday and a hush fell over the table...every bite was succulent and cooked to perfection which was lovely because my husband took point and was able to easily handle it from the instructions. Now the bad. (Entirely unserious) Oh. The bad is that the young man at the counter didn't physically twist my arm to get 2 orders of EVERYTHING. The Cacio e Pepe fritters are life changing I would eat a bowl the size of my head and then a dozen of these fried bites of heaven. HEAVEN. He was too nice he should have told us to buy more We love the ability to grab the nectars and imported beverages by the single or 4 back, the garlic bread is absurd, the mozzarella sticks are soooooo creamy dreamy and the meatballs? A village set in a valley cannot be hidden. Like winter wonderland for suburban Italians. I walked in just to take a look, and upon entrance my eyes opened so wide that tears begun to flow upwards out of my eyes. Combing my hair backward with flooding water. My brother pinched himself but lost all feeling, and was unable to tell if he were now in a dream. But as we know, he wasn't dreaming, signori. Unexpectedly, but with the ebullience of a young boy I pridefully dropped a fat bill on a variety of goods. Zippo on the regrets, and ya better believe that. Some personality behind the counter adds to the vibe of this pseudo deli turned ristorante. They could've convinced me into buying the whole establishment - had me hook, line and sinker. Yet I didn't leave feeling like a stinker. What do I recommend? Every ting. Da sandwiches is surelllllly da best in a couple town radius. Diameter. Pi. Calculus, yea whatever. Sandy was fat yet functional, sort of like me. Bread options are spectacular. The homemade balsamic. The balsamic dip. Arancini. Dessert. And of course, da pig of da pin, da bell of da ball, da Porchetta. Not to mention, but I guess I am mentioning, you can practically live here. The porchetta king is constantly throwing porchetta samples on the counter. You may get overwhelmed by the samplings. I think they may have been feeding stuff to me hand to mouth. I blacked out. Sfogliatelle samples? Scusi me, where are we in Napoli? Who do you folks think you are? Love it. Love the game. What did I get myself into... Anyways I think I left with the pistachio cream, a Parma sandwich I may have added a cutlet, this thing was beautiful. I got their balsamic vin dip and slapped it on the bread of da sandy myself. Mamma Mia I need to go back. I got a classic crispy loaf, for I am a man of class. Some gelato found its way somewhere. Call me dramatic and over emphatic but this place is an automatic. Cheers to the new kings of DTS (Down Town Suffern for non locals.) I'll be stopping in here and there to pay my respects, mi amore. As we sat down to our reserved table our server wanted to know if we were going to a show... now that's very thoughtful. They would pace our meal accordingly. BUT we had three hours. We ordered wine and beer to start- on Happy Hour prices. We were informed of new items on the menu... I changed my mind 3 times; everything looked great. We decided to share the Jeep Koong as an appetizer. Edna is very particular about what she eats and b/c of her Latin heritage, fried fish was not out of the question. Out came a very large portion of fried red snapper in a Tamarind sauce and Brussels sprouts. She opted to omit the sliced jalepeno. I like Massaman Curry; their new offering had it made with lamb and Brussels sprouts, potatoes and sliced cashews. Oh boy. My recent bout with bleeding ulcers had me forego having it Thai spicy. Still plenty of time before the show but the restaurant was filling up fast. Dessert yes we chose to share puff pastry topped with coconut ice cream and coconut flakes. I was surprised to see Durian on the dessert menu or at least I didn't remember from the other time we visited the restaurant. I do remember the Durian we experienced during our last trip to Bangkok- a real smelly fruit which I opted to taste (sure). All in all our meal, service and the simple but tasteful decorations, were all outstanding. Of course we'll be back but might return to their lunchtime offerings. Unless we pre-theatre it again.
