Just a taste
Ashley B.

This places is perfect if you want to just try some wines out and not fully commit. However, it's great if you want to commit too. They offer a taste, half, and full glasses of wine that you are compelled to try. The space is amazing too! I highly recommend sitting outside and watching the day go by.

We stumbled across Region while randomly wandering through Downtown SLO. I'm really glad we found this gem of a spot, because now I'm wondering why we don't have more wine tasting rooms with this kind of concept in SoCal! Region brings together wines from around 50 wineries across the Central California coastal region from Monterey to Paso Robles and more on tap, allowing guests to choose from different quantities of pours. It's basically a build-your-own personal wine tasting! Service was friendly and welcoming, with the employees proactive in explaining the set up, answering questions and even giving recommendations. My husband and I enjoyed Region so much we ended up coming twice during our trip and one of the workers was even kind enough to pour us a free tasting of their featured wine of the month. The ambiance is lovely here and it's easy to end up spending a long time here, as there's plenty of open-air seating with heat lamps for the outside when it cools down in the evening. If wine tasting is on your SLO itinerary, I'd definitely recommend making a stop here when you're in the area!

What a genius idea it is to have a venue with chill vibes where local winemakers can hold events and showcase their wines for the many of us avid wine-drinkers to enjoy. We had attended, "The French Mafia Takeover" event, hosted by Region in collaboration with L'Aventure, Clos Selène, and Benom. This event was a wine and food pairing prepared by Chef Ryan of Ox & Anchor (San Luis Obispo). Even though it was a small bite pairing, his food certainly packed next level umami! Too good! The staff at Region were all friendly and the host of each winery and vineyard were just superb! The interior is open and airy with inside/outside seating. The bathrooms are super clean too (always bonus points for me, lol!) Blessed to have attended such a wonderful event, enjoying quality wine, and most of all, at an awesome venue! Thanks Region! CHEERS till next time...

10/10 for ambiance, friendly service, non-pretentious vibes, and huge selection of wines. I'd been to another spot set up like this but they didn't focus on the regionality like Region does. Their staff helped guide me just enough and let me DIY a bit, too. Had fun chatting with them until the place filled up with other kind patrons. Someone was returning after having just been the night before, so that says everything haha Great selection for all tastes. Next time I'll try some food when I don't already have dinner plans. Thanks y'all

My cousins and I were looking for a place to chill and enjoy a glass of wine, and this place provided both. Mckenzie explained to us their wine dispensary and how it worked. We loved that we could chose to taste the wine and get a half or full glass of what we liked. The wines were reasonably priced, and you could see your running balance every time you were dispensed wine. We ordered chips with salsa/guacamole and French fries. Both were tasty. We enjoyed this lounge and would recommend it.

Outstanding place with a great selection of wine, food, beers and music in a delightfully crafted environment right in the heart of SLO. If you are in SLO and you like wine you must visit. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and I am sure will help you explore your preferences or expand your palate.

A hidden gem in SLO! I was looking for a spot to go wine tasting and found region connected to the hotel we were staying at (Hotel SLO). It's a great spot to try out local SLO/ Paso Robles wineries! Yohan gave us an overview of the tasting experience and we opted to get an open tab card to try different wines with. Each machine gives options to pour full glasses, half glasses, or just tastings. It's a great way to try different local wines. The atmosphere is super comfortable, and is the perfect spot for gathering with friends and family. Would definitely reccomend for anyone looking for a local wine tasting experience.

First things first, the tasting room is such a vibe. So pretty. Loved the concept! Very fun way to try different wines. First timer here so the lady was very patient and helpful with giving our group a proper tutorial. Big selection of wines but defo more reds than whites. Parking garage right next to it, so very easy to get to. They are in the slo hotel building but aren't part of the slo hotel. They are their own business. I think they had specials though where you can order food from slo hotel restaurant piadina. But we opted for some cheeseboards and it was a lovely way to spend a few hours with friends.

What a wonderful tasting room, that is elevated to a tasting experience with an exceptional staff and almost unlimited options of SLO county wines. By happenstance we saw this place during Cal Poly graduation weekend. Such a wonderful vibe that felt relaxed, comfortable and inviting. Often tasting rooms can feel pretentious or stand offish. However, Region makes you feel like you are visiting a friend's home and enjoying amazing varietals from the surrounding area. From the music, to the stemware and the comfortable atmosphere it just feels inviting and a place you want to share with family and friends. A huge thank you to Zoe for taking such amazing care of our party, she was super patient as we tried countless bottles and once she knew our flavorful profiles she handcrafted the tasting based on each persons palette. We will definitely be back, this place is too special not to share.

Absolutely love the atmosphere of this place! Such a great spot for a date night or girls night. Also had a really great selection of local wines, so you're guaranteed to find something that you like. We got the charcuterie and it was amazing! Great selection of meats and cheeses, and tons of flavors on the board. Would definitely order it again. The girls working at the bar were super helpful and took time to explain how everything works and answer any questions we had. It's definitely easy to spend money here because you want to taste everything!! Overall, excellent wines and a really fun experience. Will be back :)

I have never been to a wine bar quite like this one before and I loved it! Being able to pick your own drink at your own time is such a unique experience in SLO. The workers were also very kind to us and let us stay a bit past closing so we could finish our wine! Highly recommend you stop by & have a glass or two of wine if you are in SLO! Very beautiful as well, perfect patio area if you want to sit outside.

A change of pace from a typical wine bar, region uses Wine Station tech to offer a "wine on tap" tasting experience. You can opt for a taste, half or full glass and pay as you go. They had around 25 different wines to try all sourced from local wineries. It's a really cool experience and a great way to try many different types of wine. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful too! The one minor drawback is that the taste option is a very small portion and could be increased slightly for the price you pay.

As a frequent wine taster I'm just not used to pay $4 to $6+ for a sip of wine. Usually I go to a winery and get free tastes to help me decide what I like and then buy half of a case or more. At other SLO wine bars, we also get free tastes to then decide which wines we like to then order glasses or even bottles. The glass prices were also very high for SLO County wines. I was familiar with many of the available wines since I am a member of those wineries. And often the prices of wines are higher at wineries than at retail establishments. Here they were higher than at the wineries. As for the ambiance, it was incredibly loud. With so many other options in SLO, there is no reason to come here.

The owner seems on edge the entire time we were there. 2 people in our group went outside for a minute, and the owner literally ran after them to "make sure they weren't dashing out in their bill," even though 2 of us were still sitting there. He literally told us this. I saw a black guy come in and sit at the bar and they ignored him until he left. Respectfully, they can go "duck" themselves.

Bar seating was already filled up so we opted for a cozy and comfortable corner to hang out. I was lucky enough to meet the owner Jeff. He was so personable and took the time to explain how the bar works. Each week he features young DJ's that are given the opportunity play their choice of tunes for 30 minutes each. This explained why the bar stools were all taken. These stools are for the aspiring DJ's to sit in line waiting for their turn. The sound system in here was all built by Jeff and all of the music played sounded incredible. I really appreciated all the different tunes being spun and each DJ had their own unique style so you never knew what music genre would be played next. The vibe here is so laid back and intimate. Small bites are served as well as beer and wine. We stayed for a while, enjoyed a glass of wine and played a great game of Cribbage. I really enjoyed meeting Jeff and cannot wait to return to this one of kind vinyl bar.

I opted to do a trio with the bahn mi, tip o' Argentina, and the garlic fries. The food was good I forgot to take a picture! The tip o' Argentina was solid with the garlic aioli and the chimmichurri perfectly complimenting the steak and the lettuce and tomato adding a little bit of freshness. The buns they use for all of their sliders are soft, slightly sweet, and don't fall apart while you're eating. The Bahn Mi was even better. I love pork but was a little skeptical about pulled pork on a slider riffing on the flavors of a bahn mi. To my surprise and delight, it tasted just like grilled Vietnamese pork, which was perfectly complimented by the fresh and pickled veggies and surprisingly hot jalapeño. Finally, I got the garlic fries which were a massive portion, crisp, and very garlicky. Everything was good and with such a large and customizable menu, I'd definitely return if I was in the area again. I also want to give a shout out to the bartender, Kelsey. I sat at the bar and her service was attentive and she was very knowledgeable about the menu. We got the opportunity to chat for a bit and I loved her vibe, so definitely consider sitting at the bar if you're dining solo or with a friend.
