After speaking with Jim the owner he offered to give me a refund if I would remove my negative review. That is why so many negative reviews of Reid's have magically gone away on yelp. I obviously refused and he refused to refund me. The icemaker I purchased from them has a known defect and a recall issued for a faulty drain pump published on their website months ago. They still sold me this unit, figuring that was my problem not theirs. Jim explained to me that it's not the retailers job to know the products they sell have recall notice issued by the manufacturer and selling me a product the manufacturer has issued a notice about faulty components is perfectly inline with their business practices. read more

We ordered a subzero refrig, bosch dishwasher, meile induction range. Great customer service through all my questions before ordering, kept me informed on what was happening with the delays due to Covid. Couldn't have asked for better. Then came install. Specifically the dishwasher. I was not present at install which occurred 2 weeks before I moved in. I found a broken tray handle was left on my counter. No note. No one had contacted me to let me know what was happening with it. Called Reid's and they then got an immediate service call in to Bosch. Why was this not done before? While waiting the short week before Bosch arrived I proceeded to run the dishwasher. Oh look, another broken bit. This time the utensil basket. Installed broken?? Then I get an error code: Watertap E15. Contacted Reid's to see if they could come out to ensure it was hooked up properly. Twice I was told they would call me back. Nope. Over 24 hrs and I had to call them and still they did not come to see if it was hooked up correctly. Bosch guy said 'it's not getting water, did they turn it on?' Bosch repairman bewildered at how it had broken bits inside the wash area, turned the water on and ensured it ran properly. Reid's did call me to see how the repair went. Kudos there. Asked that I call to update them on how well it worked once I ran a complete load. Unfortunately the Bosch continues to have issues and will not run properly. Nor will it actually turn off! Reid's were on it! Had me unplug the d/w while they contacted Bosch rep and discussed the issues I am having with the machine. I got a call back a few days later to say Bosch will be replacing the unit and Reid's will come next week to install. Happy Customer! Bosch unit not working properly, not on Reid's. Extra points for intervening directly with the d/w company and getting a replacement asap. Fingers crossed the new machine will run properly. Broken bits also not on Reid's, but not dealing with what they knew was broken, when they installed - that's on them. Bottom line: A little hiccup at install, but very pleased with them overall. Originally 5 stars for good selection of brands; the sales staff I dealt with, (Dakota, Omar, Jerry), were very helpful; the installation technicians, (Alex, Jose and Edgar), did good work. Changed to four stars because about a week after the installation, I noticed a problem with the dual-fuel range and they sent two technicians that were not experienced and did poor work, (Caleb and Gabe). Gabe was new seemed to be learning the business. Caleb was the main technician but inexperienced and did not know some of the basics, like proper routing of the gas line and 240v electric cable for gradual bends. When it became obvious he didn't know, I jumped behind the range and did it myself. Then he reached down and grabbed the 240v cable with a pair of channel locks and torqued it in a tight "U" bend, which is the wrong way to make adjustments. If any further work is required by the installation crew I will make sure they don't send Caleb. Changed back to five stars after talking with Dakota. He spoke to service staff about how to improve customer interactions and is making changes to the service training materials to cover issues with the anti-tip bracket installation. They were far and away the best in terms of knowledge and customer service, and one of their salespeople, Dakota LaPrelle, whom we had never met or spoken with, helped us gain the best pricing by explaining to us how we could do so by maximizing rebates. I purchased over $7,000 of appliances from Omar, the store manager in Santa Barbara , in the fall of 2021. We were able to take delivery in March of 2022 when our contractor was ready for appliances to be installed in our remodeled kitchen. We ordered a new GE refrigerator for $2725 and it has failed in August 2023, only 17 months after being installed. When I contacted Omar, he said it was out of warranty, which is only a 12 month factory warranty, and I had not purchased the extended warranty. I contacted GE directly, and they told me the same thing. Omar referred me to some appliance repair folks, but made no offer to help or compensate me in any way for this failed compressor. It may cost me $800 to $1,000 or more to have a new one put in, and will take at least ten days to get the part. I am not happy at all with the response from Reid's... a brand new $2700 GE refrigerator should not last only 17 months! Terrible customer service to a new local customer like me. I will never do business with them, and will be sure to tell my friends what happened. It seems to me Reid's or GE should be willing to share part of the repair cost, or reimburse me for my out of pocket costs. read more

I have needed a new dishwasher for months and I knew Installation was going to be an issue because our space is slightly smaller than the standard. I checked out Lowe's and they were not very helpful at all and then I went to Best Buy and found one Bosch model that would fit our space. I paid a plumber $120 to come in and take a look at the space and let me know if he anticipated any problems and also if he would be able to do the installation. He said it would probably take two hours which would be $240 plus $35 to take the old dishwasher away. Something told me to check out a local business so I went to Reid's the same afternoon and Omar the manager knew exactly what my issue was. He knew right away which Bosch model I've been watching and he steered me towards an Asko model which would fit my unusual space and was an upgrade from the Bosch, although the price was very similar. The company was offering a $150 rebate which practically covered the installation cost which was $170. That included delivery, installation and removal of the old dishwasher, so a much better deal than the plumber. Best Buy had a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks for installation and Reid's was able to acquire the dishwasher and install it in a week and a half. They use their own installers, which made me very happy because a simple phone call was all that was needed if there were any issues. The dishwasher was installed in about an hour, it looks great and so far it works great. Couldn't be happier with the service that I received and I will use Reid's again in the future for my appliance needs. read more

Shopping local - not always best! My mother and I support local businesses. She purchased a refrigerator from Reid's Appliances in Santa Barbara. The delivery fee (which was not communicated at the time of purchase) included an additional undisclosed fee of $225 for switching the door swing. She had specified the required swing direction as part of the order and was told it was fine, there was one in stock at the warehouse. In addition, the delivery company Reid's Appliance used damaged her vinyl floor while installing. Numerous attempts to contact Reid's Appliance's and the President to discuss these issues. It is very disappointing that a local business has no interest in righting a wrong or customer satisfaction once the sale is complete. Update: 6/4/2022 We got our Speed Queen TC5 washing machine and DC5 dryer on 6/1/2022 delivered and installed professionally. It was worth waiting for. Before it was delivered I asked myself should I have gotten the TR7 or the FF7? The answer is clear: It's hard to pick which model to buy because they are all good. Our clothes are cleaner than ever, and the high quality of the equipment is obvious. With Reid's Appliances, we got great customer service, and they even had a way we could pay over a year without paying any interest. How cool is that? If you need laundry equipment, go to Reid's and ask for Speed Queen - a good, solid, no-nonsense laundry system. Paul, who has performed installations for Reid's for 28 years as well as his assistant installed these for us. PS: We got the TC5 as it had the fastest cycle time. We also figured if these are good enough for laundromats, they are good enough for us. Original Review: It was time for us to get a new washing machine and dryer, and we wanted to support a local business. We did our homework and my wife and I decided we want a Speed Queen TC5. Simon helped us, and we still looked at some other machines, but we wanted a reliable and sturdy machine - and Speed Queens are made in the USA, and the one we got is built for commercial use. About delivery: We had the choice of having Reid's deliver it, but could get it sooner if one of their contract installers did the job. We chose to have Reid's do it. The reason I am confident with my 5 star rating is that if there are any problems, there is somebody I can contact directly. I bought an economy brand gas range for my rental. Paul and Jesus were the delivery team: they did a great job! They gave me and the tenant a two-hour window for delivery, showed up within that time-span, removed the old stove to haul off, gave us a couple of minutes to clean up the space for the new stove, hooked it up, told us to heat up the oven to burn off any manufacturing residue before cooking any food in it, and, they were cheerful and friendly through out their very efficient process. They took out my old set, set up, installed my new set-- and I asked them to show me how they did this! After the death of our 12 year old Kenmore washer, I figured it was about time to replace the set. We took measurements and checked out the limitations of our back porch space and gas/water plumbing layout. With the critical parameters in mind we set out to the Santa Barbara Reid's store. They were super helpful and the showroom had plenty of options to look at, it's awesome to get sales people that actually know their products. We settled on front GE loader pair. There was a 3 week wait on them which was fine as we were heading out for a 2 week vacation anyway and it gave us time to clean and paint the area. Delivery truck communication was great gave us an accurate ETA the morning of delivery and the installation went smooth. Our old appliances were hauled off for us worth the little extra cost for us. We are super happy with the washer and dryer we got from Reid's, the technology has really advanced in 12 years. If you need an appliance in a hurry, go somewhere else. We got the run around as to when our washer dryer was coming, and I left multiple unreturned calls for Simon, our salesperson. Apparently the washer dryer came within a week, but the pedestals would be two months. He wanted to wait 2 months to deliver the paid for expensive appliances. I told him we could not wait, and they needed to make two trips. I made him put me on the delivery schedule. They are coming today, 3 weeks after purchase. However, the delivery and installation (which is arguably the most important part of buying appliances) would be 1/5 stars. In short: Customer service (for scheduling delivery) was rude and not accommodating in the least Delivery is completely at the convenience of Reid's and not of the customer Huge delay between putting in order and actually having appliances installed Poor job of installation (screws and parts of dishwasher falling apart months later) Again, the in-store Santa Barbara staff are very kind. This place is the worst. We built a new house, bought all the appliances from them. Have issues with a few of them not working and it's like pulling teeth to get someone to fix them now. They are less than a year old. They were expensive and to get the warranty service done takes a long time. The company they contract for with the warranty takes a long time to get an appointment aNd more than once has brought the wrong parts. This results in weeks between appointments and we're sitting here with appliances that don't work in the mean time. I don't recommend using Reid's at all. read more

I purchased a Bosch dishwasher from Reids on April 4th. My 12 year old former Bosch needed to be replaced. While I knew I wanted another Bosch, Farid Azizi was very helpful in helping me make the decision on which model since mine was no longer made. The icing on the cake was while they thought I would have to wait over 12 days to get my dishwasher, Farid went above and beyond and called me the next day and said they had the dishwasher. Their installation crew was very busy so he called one of their contracted installers, who was able to come out early Saturday morning. They did an excellent job and I was able to have my dishwasher in only a couple of days. Always great to buy local! read more

Installation was quick and well done (thanks, Paul). Several weeks later a small issue arose and we talked to Omar. He promptly scheduled a service call. The worst!!! I would've given zero stars if possible. Our landlord ordered us a new refrigerator from Reed's after ours broke. We were told it would arrive the following week and they'd be bringing us a loaner in the meantime - fine. When the loaner came it looked like it was taken out of a dumpster complete with a bullet hole in it and a large gap for air to escape along the rubber. Awesome. We thought we'd make do since we only had to wait a week for our new one to arrive... Come time for the new fridge to be delivered and there's no word from Reed's on when they'll be coming by. Finally, we call: "When will you be by to deliver our new refrigerator?". Reed's response? "Oh, sorry. We won't be there until next Wednesday." Well, it's "next Wednesday" today. And guess what? We just called to see when our fridge was coming and now it won't be here "until Friday". No explanations, no reason, no apologies, no nothing! I'm not counting on seeing the refrigerator until after the New Year at this point... and did I mention that I'm 9 months pregnant and we've not been able to keep food in our house because the loaner freezes everything? So yeah, that's been great too. I would highly suggest considering going elsewhere to purchase your appliances if you'd ever actually like to receive them. read more
