We had an issue with a solid stain from Sherwin Williams. When going to the store and talking with Eric, he blamed something totally unrelated to the issue. We therefore gave a 1 star review on Yelp. However, Sherwin Williams District Manager, John Walters came to look at the issue in person. He said the problem was caused by overspray, and said the store would give our money back on the unused material. 5 stars for John, who was super friendly, made sense, was appreciative of our many years we have done business with his company. He restored our confidence in Sherwin Williams and we will surely keep buying product from them! read more

Disclosure: I'm a Benjamin Moore fan. That means, I've painted all my rentals, homes I've owned, and have helped friends paint their homes only using Benjamin Moore paint. I recently asked why I'm such a paint snob and decided to diversify my paint repertoire with Sherwin Williams. They do have some interesting colors, like Gossamer Veil and Silvermist. So, taking a risk and with an open mind, I decided to invest two afternoons to paint over an ugly muddy green that the previous home owner painted the entire interior of the house with. The paint store itself is organized and spacious. Depending on who you get at the counter will determine your experience. Some are friendly and outgoing, but others are crotchety and forgetful. To limit any errors, I used a brand new roller, paint brush, and their most expensive, elite paint called their "Emerald" line in a simple color, Gossamer Veil. I stirred thoroughly and applied the paint immediately after purchasing. Imagine how horrified I was when I saw the paint peeling as I roll! The entire room looks horrifying. Even after two coats, the paint runs, sticks, and drools down the wall. It looks like my walls just experienced a bad chemical peel. The paint is supposed to cover in one coat but there's no way they can verify that claim. After three coats and switching to another paint, Sherwin Williams paint is much more costly and an absolute headache to work with. This simple paint job is going to set me back a couple of days. I'm very disappointed and wonder if their formula or lot number is defective. Beware, more expensive isn't always better - unless you go with Benjamin Moore. read more

I can't say enough about this place, the service is great, and they are very knowledgeable. I needed to cover some holes in the wall at my house, so I went to a hardware store to get a color match for the wall. I took a piece of the wall so they can match it, and they "supposedly" match it within minutes. I brought it home, and it was not a match. We decided to go here instead and they said the color match would take at least 24 hours. We picked up the paint the next day, and to my surprise it was match!! I stopped by a day after I dropped off a new piece of hardwood flooring to try and match the stain of existing wood floors in my home and was surprised to see the stain all ready to go, with the samples looking almost identical. One employee helped take the purchase items tinny car even in the rain and without being asked. Chivalry is still alive and well! The stain was applied the same day to about 300 sq feet of space in my new open layout kitchen. The goal was to try and match the existing living room and dining room flooring to the kitchen area. My contractor, and my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled and pleased with how it turned out! We've had our share of paint projects but this one was seamless from start to finish. The results far exceeded anything we ever expected. Sherwin Williams' careful attention to the type of wood we were staining, the condition of the wood, and its stain retention led to a perfect color match. Yes--I said perfect! You can't see where the old 1954 wood ends and the newly installed wood floor begins. It's truly a work of art! The level of care and expertise at Sherwin Williams is unmatched by any other. We've been shopping here for a couple of years and will never have the need to go elsewhere. Why would we? The service, the quality, and the whole experience is near effortless and a dream. This store location has weathered the storm and changing tides of the Santa Barbara community over the past 15+ years. Some of the employees date back to when the shop was still branded under Frazee Paint. My first home and second homes were painted in Frazee Arizona White, flat and satin finish. Well, I started a "project" that turned into a bigger project after trying to touch up several walls. The now Sherwin-Williams team were extremely knowledgeable and helpful to do a color match once I supplied a small swatch which I cut from a closet wall. Their service is top-drawer and the follow-up genuine. This shop serves the Pro Contractor or DIY'er. What's super handy is they open early and close late so you can pick up your supplies even in a pinch on a Sunday afternoon. I had never been to SW before and had a somewhat complicated situation with repairs I needed to do and paint color matching. Everyone in the store was friendly and the man helping me knew his stuff and was even willing to do some detective work in helping me figure out exactly what color formula I needed. He also gave me excellent instructions on how to proceed with my project and as a result my project turned out great!
