By following Daniel the Owner's advise to replace a heat exchange and some other "major" parts in our Viking Refrigerator, in less than six months time, Daniel took more than $5,000 from us and then he changed his tone from "your fridge will last many years to come..." and told us that we need to buy a new fridge, and he will install it for free! when we got the new Viking delivered, he renigged and never returned our calls. Daniel never provided any invoices or receipts although he promised that he would email them. He also never honored his 90 Days Warranty on parts and labor. I could not recommend any company more. My husband and I own 3 properties in town and The Factory Appliance is our go to appliance repair. We've tried them all and we are now customers for life. Every problem we have had, from small dishwasher repairs to purchasing and installing an entirely new fridge/freezer, has been painless. My tenants are happy and I am happy. We recently had dishwasher and clothes dryer issues at our own house and had the technician out, experiencing the process first hand. They called when they were on their way, showed up on time, got the job done, had to order parts, called when the parts came in, scheduled the follow up appt., showed up on time, fixed the problem. I wish everything in my life went so smoothly. I called this company because they are a factory authorized repair facility, and my KitchenAid refrigerator was not making ice or freezing anything. The technician diagnosed what they thought was the issue and ordered parts. I had to call back to schedule the second appointment two days later as there seemed to be no urgency. When the technician arrived, it was clear that the unit was not cooling anything anymore and that the cooling unit need to be replaced. The technician said that the success of this repair was not high and that I should buy a new refrigerator. There was no mention of the possibility of a warranty repair. I was charged $89 and the technician left. I am upset for several reasons: 1. When a refrigerator is out, it is an emergency for those involved. I never felt that there was much urgency in the repair process. 2. A factory trained technician should at least suggest that the warranty information be reviewed and should recommend a repair for a $4500 refrigerator purchased less than 3 years ago, not to buy a new one. Excellent service call by Valerie. After two other appliance repair places failed to repair my GE gas cooktop, I called Factory Appliance around 10am and they told me that they could send someone out that same afternoon between 1 and 5pm. Around 1pm they called back and advised that Valerie was coming right over. Valerie immediately knew the problem with the gas cooktop and fixed the alignment of the sparkers and gas venturis. I asked her to have a look at our Miele dishwasher while she was there because it wasn't draining properly. She removed the checkvalve under the sink (which had become stuck and useless), and it drains perfectly. Highly recommended appliance repair company. Mixed bag of reviews posted here!? Maybe because it's under new ownership? All I have to say is that I have had a very positive experience with this place! Mary has been my go to gal with my ADD and numerous questions, she has been more than patient and helpful. Valerie, the service tech arrived early and was super informative, she came to look at my piece of shit Maytag washing machine in May. I knew I was over this washer and it was possibly on its last legs, it was the 3rd time for a service call since owning it (different places that Maytag sent out). Valerie gave me her suggestions, but really there wasn't anything she could do to help, she tried. The machine is barely 3 years old! ewe...so maddening!...Valerie gave me her honest opinion and gave me feedback. My auto fill, auto sense and spin cycle would just not sync together, no matter what I tried! Could it have really have been fixed? Maybe? How long would it last? Maytag's aren't made like they used to be, and they say they only last about 5 years anyways. It was always just a crappy washer since the beginning! I don't even know what could have been fixed? It would have been like a bandaid before it actually died. Literally, I tried all combinations, and after 3 hours of banging from 1 load, it was still sopping wet! When this is your daily life, you're pretty much over it! Who the hell wants to sit and watch their washer for 45 minutes? Uh, NO ONE! And to only be able to wash 3 basic bath towels is absolutely ridiculous! It went from going off kilter to banging against my wall, rocking back and forth to rubbing against an electrical outlet! The damn thing isn't overloaded or unbalanced on the floor (the legs). Even though the washer looks new, no visable damaged parts, it just would not auto sense the load to spin normal. But during the service call, it spun fine!? Well no one does laundry without clothes in the washer! Ugh... Every load would bang and rock like crazy! And now you could assume clothes weren't getting very clean! Valerie told me about the Speed Queen washer about their durability and reputation. I did know this, only because I have used laundromats in the past. So now after no success after the service call, I tried to place a block of wood behind it, I'm pretty sure I made it worse! Now after a few more washes with the washer...it was now spitting out foam fragments from underneath, it had a nice warm burning rubber smell, and I could feel dripping oil underneath...I knew I was done.. so over this... looking at oil spots and dry spots on my clothes was lame! I couldn't get this washer out of my house fast enough! I bit the bullet.. I called Mary and placed my order. I did do my research ahead of time and chose the TR5! It's in the middle of the TR3 and TR7, it's basic, it has dials, it's about 1 cu ft capacity smaller than my Maytag, but it fits every load I have ever done in my old washer! Even my dog shammy rug that I could NEVER wash normally...I washed it and it actually SPUN the water out of it! I was able to choose my install date and time frame for my June delivery. Dow, the installer showed up early as well, he was professional and super efficient, he took away my piece of crap Maytag, hauled it out, installed my Speed Queen, hookup was seamless, leveled it, gave me suggestions, and did a pre cycle to make sure everything was working. Hallelujah! I did the transaction after the install! Super easy! I have done at least 20 loads in a week period, mixed and matched, big, small...no issues at ALL! The loads take about 45 minutes, it's quiet, I have washed exactly the same as I did before.... OMG.. Heaven! I can do laundry daily and walk away! I can come back 45 minutes later and put it in the dryer! Ironically I have not used any oxy clean for my whites and the dog towels that have reminiscent dirt ingrained in them are gone! My reclaimed 55 gallon water bucket isn't filled to the brim! It's exactly what I wanted, clean clothes, no hassle! NO MORE OFF BALANCE! Another reason for my Speed Queen decision was not only the recommendation from Valerie, but the reviews for the washer, they can last up to 25 years, and it has a 5 year warranty, also the universal price.. it's the same online as the appliance stores, so no price jacking from big box stores, I didn't have to worry if I was getting a deal or not! But really, the customer satisfaction that I have encountered with this company has been great! And my sanity is saved! I'm also happy to keep it local. Also, if anything happens, I know this local company can come out and address it, I'm not waiting for someone from Bakersfield. I'm happy Maytag reccommend them! haha I love my washer and I'm so happy with it! My sister used FA in the past for repairs and gave them a glowing review, so I tried them when my washing machine stopped working. I called and spoke to a very nice young woman who offered to have someone come out that day, but I was not available so scheduled for the following day. I got a 4 hour window, but asked that they call me a few minutes before and they did. Valerie pulled up at the same time I did, was very friendly, and quickly assessed the problem. She said a part would need to be ordered, and I got a call the next day saying that it was already in. I scheduled another appointment the following day, and Valerie came back, installed the part, and was out of there in ten minutes. I don't think that I could have gotten better service, and greatly appreciated their urgency in taking care of a small customer like me. read more

I was tired of Home Depot changing the delivery date for a Bosch dishwasher, so I decided to bus local. I got an Amana. It smells like plastic when open, but I'm sure that will go away with time. It does not dry out in 24 hours the plastic is so hydrophilic. The white exterior is so white it makes my countertops look dingy AND it does not get the dishes clean! The problem with this business is they have NO RETURN POLICY. That's a reason to buy from a big store! I am selling it on Craigslist for a loss of $200, IF it sells. read more

I had a friend recommend The Factory Appliance when my oven stopped working. I called on a Tuesday, the receptionist who answered was super helpful and made an appointment for me. Requested if I could have a call prior to technician arriving since I had to open the gate and she let know that was no trouble at all and gave me a window of 1p to 5p on Thur (which was the day I was available). I received a call around 230p from them letting me know that Dan the technician was about 5 min away. Dan showed up was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to diagnose the problem AND had the available part in his truck. THAT RARELY HAPPENS! He fixed the problem and was done with everything in less than an hour. They were GREAT! Whatever you do, don't call The Factory for help with a repair. It has been four months since I paid Daniel for "fixing" our gas range. In February our range was leaking gas and we decided to keep it local and called The Factory. Daniel took a look where the gas company employee showed me it was leaking, He played with the compression couplings, and declared the range repaired. He showed me that his detector was no longer beeping, so I wrote a check for the repair and gave him a bag of avocados with my thanks. Later that night the smell of gas filled our kitchen, so we turned off the gas and waited to call The Factory the next day. After calling and speaking with Mary that morning to report the ongoing gas leak, I called again at the end of the day to see if she had any update about our repair. She said she had spoken with Daniel, who asked for the make and model number of our range. A few days later I was told the part was ordered and it would be two weeks. I was surprised by the timeframe, but with supply chain issues and the fact that the part was coming from New Zealand, that sounded fair. Five weeks later, after my many phone calls, as well as an in person visit to their office, I finally heard from Mary that the part had arrived. Daniel took an additional five days to schedule the installation and when he arrived he discovered the part he ordered was not what was needed to repair the range. Only then did Daniel take the time to diagnose what he now said was the actual problem, and told me he would order the correct part and that it would probably take an additional month. Once again he said Mary would let me know when it was in. Knowing how long we had waited, and how patient we had been, Daniel offered to create a cap for the part that was leaking so we could use the oven (but not the broiler which was related to the problem). He removed the gas line from the part that was flowing gas, put an adaptor and cap on it, re-attached it, and declared the range safe to use. I asked if he could use the detector before leaving, which started beeping when he did. Daniel said the detector was registering "residual gas" in the broiler and that he trusted "the soap test" better than the detector. I asked him to please wait for the detector to stop beeping because the worst thing that could happen was for him to once again leave us with a leaking gas range. To rid the kitchen of residual gas, and to clear Daniel's detector, I opened the kitchen door, turned on the ceiling fan as well as the vent over the stove, and opened the oven door. Daniel told me twice that the range was "safe to operate" even though his detector would not stop beeping. Finally, I asked him to put the detector closer to the cap he created and installed. His detector went off like a siren! He put the oven back together like it had been when we first called him six weeks earlier for help. We were back to square one! Because Daniel ordered the wrong part, reiterated that the range was safe to use (despite the leaking gas) and didn't seem to care that we were unable to cook for over one and a half months, I became very concerned. After Daniel left, I found the part was in stock on several sites on the internet. After the weekend, I called Midway, our local appliance parts store in Santa Barbara and was told they could have it the next day. After waiting a week to hear from The Factory, I called Mary. She checked and told me the part was "on order". I told her about my seemingly successful search for the part and she questioned the validity of what I was telling her. I was now also questioning the validity that the part was "on order". Because of my concern after Daniel's service call in March, specifically the incorrect diagnosis of what was broken and insistence that the gas was not leaking, I made a call to Ferguson's in Ventura where we bought the range. On that very same day I got an email from their True Blue service department. I replied to their email, and Santa Barbara Appliance called me later that day. They came out and diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, came back out with the part to repair it, and fixed our range within a week! The next day I got an email from True Blue and Ferguson's asking if the problem was resolved to my satisfaction. Having paid for a repair, and curious if The Factory would ever come back, I called several more times and also sent a letter. There has been no reply to the letter nor to any of my phone calls. Words cannot express what it was like to listen to Mary tell me the "part is on order" and she would call me when it arrived. I paid The Factory on February 10th and as of June 16th, have had no contact from them. Finally (and thankfully) I gave up and called someone else. read more

These people deserve every 1 star review -- if I could post a MINUS 5 STARS I would. FIRST: As others have stated, Donna is rude, condescending, and one of the worst customer service people I have ever dealt with. This alone gave me a lot of insight into this FLAWED business. So many negative comments, and why is she still employed there?? SECOND: Tightest time window? 4 hours. They were to call me ahead of time, so I can plan my day. Instead, they showed up unannounced somewhere in their 4 hour time window. THIRD: The tech was unable to diagnose my problem of the Speed Queen washer not spinning fast enough to to leave my clothes SOAKING WET. He left in the middle of the appointment after buttoning up the washer, saying nothing is wrong. Really? Then WHY ARE MY CLOTHES SITTING IN WATER AT THE END OF SPIN CYCLE???? FOURTH: I already PAID another out of area Speed Queen tech who was no longer able to service in this area, because of all the poor reviews of this company "Factory Appliance". This experienced individual accurately diagnosed my problem as a bad clutch. In further researching this, I find the following online DIRECTLY FROM SPEED QUEEN as verification of this diagnosis: ----- "The direct-drive washer clutch assembly is mounted above the direct-drive transmission under the outer washer tub. The clutch releases the brake and allows the basket to spin. If the clutch is worn out or isn't releasing the brake properly, either repair the clutch using a clutch band kit or replace it using a clutch replacement kit. A common symptom of a worn-out clutch is wet clothes at the end of the spin cycle because the washer isn't spinning fast enough or at all." FIFTH: The tech from Factory Appliance DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT THIS MACHINE HAD A CLUTCH!!!!! I offered to show him the proof from Speed Queen's own website, related to MY model number (see the above cut/paste). The tech continued to argue that this machine had NO CLUTCH. CLEARLY HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. SIXTH: After the tech left mid-appointment (offended because I proved him wrong and he couldn't handle it), I phoned Factory Appliance. I explained everything to the owner -- he had already heard from the tech and said he backs his techs 100% before even hearing one word from me. Who does this??? Who will not even listen to a customer before forming an opinion? A business owner with tons of 1 star reviews, that's who. HE TOO DID NOT KNOW THIS MACHINE HAD A CLUTCH, AND INSISTS IT STILL DOES NOT (even though Speed Queen AND another Speed Queen tech says it does). These people are clearly incompetent. From the owner, to the receptionist Donna, to the tech. 100% FAIL. Shameful. They deserve every 1 star.... AND LESS. read more

As the point of contact, Donna is rude, condescending, and fails at all areas of customer service. Electrolux put me through to Factory Appliance once previously. The repair was completed satisfactorily--probably because Donna was not involved. What was the problem? Electrolux phoned Donna and put through the repair order for my dishwasher giving me an estimated day of repair for two days out. The call was followed up by a fax and I was told I'd receive a phone call for a time by factory appliance. No one called. I phoned Factory Appliance and was told by Donna that they've received no faxes since Monday. That makes me wonder....is your fax down? She instructs me to call Electrolux to send the fax again. So I do. And they did with me holding on the line. I wait. No one calls. I call again. Donna is at lunch but Valerie says she cannot locate a fax. So I call Electrolux once again. They confirm all faxes submitted previously and resend yet another fax, and call Valerie from Factory Appliance. Electrolux offers to send the order via email but apparently it's against Factory Appliance policy. Valerie says that as point of contact, Donna will call me in 10-15 min. An hour later Donna calls and says they absolutely require this fax and one has not been received. I phone Electrolux with Donna on the line so that she can hear them say 1) the fax was sent 3 times, 2)Electrolux can send the communication via email or by some other means and 3) perhaps Factory Appliance should not be the one handling this issue. Before I can get two words I , Donna interrupts and begins yelling. I, too, get agitated and raise my voice, and finally saying to Donna that if they are unable to accept this fax that has been sent three times before, and are unwilling to receive the same information via email, then she can just hang up now. And hang up she did. Perfect display of lacking professionalism by Donna. Factory Appliance-- if you didn't want the service call, just say so, instead of giving me and Electrolux the runaround for three days. And make certain your fax ( the only form of communication you're willing to accept service orders) is working properly. And send Donna to customer service training-- she needs it. read more

We purchased a Thor Refrigerator from Home Depot and needed someone to come align the 2 doors. So, THOR advised me that we are covered under warranty, and that this place will come fix it. A tech arrived and put in the C Clips and aligned the doors. Everything went great! About 3-4 weeks later when I opened the fridge door, something popped out and fell of the floor. It was one of the C clips. Since they were already paid by THOR to do the job, and since it was only few weeks later, I called them and asked that they send someone to fix it. They scheduled a person to come out a week later, and on the Day of the appointment, when it was already a hour or two into the time they were supposed to come, an older woman called from the place and said that I need to call THOR. I told her that since they are the ones who "fixed" it few weeks before, they should come and fix it and that THOR should not be paying them again for their mistake. She refused to send someone or correct their mistake. I then called THOR and they told me that they cannot pay for it again and that this place should redo the job correctly, as it's only been 3-4 weeks since they "fixed" it. So now we have a door that's missing a clip and they have NOT corrected their work. DO NOT HIRE THIS PLACE!! The tech who came to do the job was courteous but the women who answer the phone are just plain rude!!! They will take your money and not do the job properly. If your refrigerator needs service and has a front panel computer display, I recommend calling The Factory Appliance. My 2015 Whirlpool French Door Bottom Mount refrigerator was not staying cold. Valerie was trained on these units and diagnosed my refrigerator's problem by using the front panel computer display. Valerie is friendly, pleasant, and professional, and her attention to detail is the icing on the cake -- when she removed the drawers and freezer door, she made sure to place them carefully on my kitchen counter and rug, taking care to keep them off the wood floors. Hopefully I won't need to call a repair person in the near future, but if I do, I'll definitely be calling The Factory Appliance. I think they are fair, honest, and provide excellent service. read more

I had one of their guys come to my place to check out a Kenmore dryer that was making a ton of noise. He arrived and got to work immediately and knew exactly what needed to be done. The job was finished in less than thirty minutes. I was very pleased. Then he handed me the bill. $190! I was stunned! The "house call" was $69 I was told. But there's parts: $60; labor: $60. So the $69 doesn't get applied to the cost of repair? I guess not. Shouldn't the technician give you an estimate before actually doing the job, so you can decide if I want it done at that price? "Well, yes", Daniel the owner told me on the phone when I called two days later, "Technically they're supposed to give you an estimate before doing the work, but they often don't", he said.
