I have a kitty cat that lives at my house that likes to hide amongst the Reids. They are tall Reids, in fact you can't even see the kitten when he's in them. He now mainly lives inside so no longer really hides amongst the Reids. This eatery is named after those same Reids. Also this place is stalking me because it showed up where I used to play football (soccer) at Sportsplex in North Tonawanda, so it's definitely following me around. Hmm. Reid's is a cute place that sells burgers and hot dogs in Lockport, it's very popular, and I have to try it again to see how good it really is. OMG, always a must stop when in the Lockport area. My wife and I got a double cheeseburger, white hot hot dog, hot ham-n-cheese, sm. fry, sm. onion rings, sm. chocolate shake and a large Coke all for just under $15.00!!! The burgers aren't tiny either, they are thicker then a McDonald's burger, imagine 2 nice thick patties with melted American cheese not only in between the patties, but also on top!! Delicious! The white hot is a small but thick link, the size of a nice bratwurst, another delicious! Then moving on to their hot ham-n-cheese. This consists of a very nice slice of "real" ham about the size of a large index card, with melted American cheese drizzled over the nicely folded slice of ham then it is served on a hamburger bun. The sides of fries and rings were just the right portion. Not greasy at all, both fried to golden perfection. My wife got the chocolate milk shake and she actually need a spoon it was so thick! VERY chocolatey, not milked down. So all that goodness for under $15 is just unheard of!! If you're ever out with the family or just your significant other. Stop by Reids by the canal in Lockport! The staff supposedly never write anything down so has to memorize your whole order so I assume you'd better check to se if everything is correct. 2023 is the year that Reids goes downhill. I've been patronizing this establishment for decades and it has always been a nice spot for a quick, yummy bite. But the last several times we've visited, we order and pay and wait and wait and wait and stand and wait and wait. Other patrons order and receive their food before us, one after another. Finally, the girl who took our order asks us who our server was and if we'd been waiting awhile. We were totally forgotten about. The couple behind us said they were, too. We've been back to Reid's several times since my initial review. Some of those times were during the colder months so we ate inside. The inside is not very clean. The bathrooms are marginally better. It actually turned me off the food a little. I'd recommend sticking to the warmer months when you can eat at a bench outside unless you're ordering food to go I don't mind that they have a separate ice cream shop across the parking lot now. The weird thing is the sign says they have Hershey's ice cream, but I'm pretty confident my salted caramel truffle was Perry's. I'd rather have Perry's anyway, but it's odd. The food here is really good and the prices are cheap. Hamburger $1.20, cheeseburger $1.60 fries $1.45... just to give you an example of prices. You will leave full and not spend a fortune. Service is fast and employees friendly. Outside and inside seating. They also serve a variety of ice cream, shakes, sundaes, etc... also bangin! Lots of seagulls around waiting for scraps. Very good food for a crazy good price! Never have been disappointed in the food or milkshakes. Workers can sometimes be a little crabby or get some things wrong in a larger order but that's normally when it's busier so it's understandable. Can't complain too much about the workers when the food is delicious and the prices are low! Reid's, this is a place you go to enjoy some traditional burgers, hot dogs, fries, milkshakes and all for a really great price. We have been known to feed three people, get a ton of food, and all for under $20. The burgers are great, add some chopped onion with their sauce and consider me a happy guy. The sauce can be added to fries, onion rings, hot dogs, whatever your heart truly desires. It is a fantastic addition to anything they serve, and is why we keep going back, well besides the prices! A normal meal for me consists of a two burgers, chopped onion, and sauce, with fries and a black raspberry shake to wash everything down. The food puts a smile on my face, as well as my wallet. Sorry - I wanted to love this place. The customer service was great but the food not so much! The fish sandwich was nothing different than McDonalds. However , McDonald's is actually better. It is cash only though, so bring a couple of dollars and you'll leave plenty full. There's indoor and outdoor seating, paired next to an ice cream stand. As someone who hasn't grown up here, this place is eh. My negative feelings are probably mostly related to my skepticism of their food safety. The bathrooms in the back of the building make it clear the place is structurally falling apart. The huge gap under the back door makes me wonder what crawls into the kitchen. And it tasted like fast food. Sure, the special sauce is good, and you might have more local pride eating there than McDonald's, but the food seems just as processed and greasy. If you've found yourself out in the Lockport area for any reason you've most certainly heard of Reid's. I used to go with my lacrosse team in High School after games against Lockport and those are some of my fondest memories of the place. More recently, I travelled to the quaint little spot after a trip out to Becker Farms. It is the perfect spot to stop back on your way out to the Amherst area or the city! Go up to the window, place your order and within minutes your food is ready. The outdoor seating makes this place what it really is. A community staple for families to come and enjoy the sunshine. Positives: Outside seating, gravy, hamburgers, and the people Negative(and this is the ONLY REASON I didn't give 5 stars): THEY DONT SERVE SAHLENS HOT DOGS. Reid-ing is Fundamental! I cant say enough about Reids accept that they have great hot dogs, although I never tried them yet. And ice cream. Avoid the ice cream. "Lousy" is a good place to start describing their ice cream. Its an afterthought nobody thought about. Yummy burgers, tho. Reids is just a little place with a big outdoor place so you can take your food and sit outdoors and throw your cone-end (if you've bothered to get the aforementioned lousy ice cream) to the birds. Some time in the early Fifties My Dad took Me to Reid's . The top of My head was even with the counter. He was greeted by the large athletic men both at the counter and those behind the grill. Lockport being Lockport and My Dad being My Dad this was the norm. The staff was not only made up His friends but also His Lockport High Football Team Mates and some team mates from the Lockport Essos. The Essos were the local semi pro team. Dad and His Brothers were in the restaurant supply business and Reid's was turning into quite the customer. Soon I was reaching milestones. The freedom afforded by my first bike meant that I was free to go to Reid's. First solo trip in the family car, straight to Reid's. First trip in my own car.... Reid's. The food is middle of the road. Hot dogs aren't fancy Sahlen's or Zweigle's. In fact, I'm not sure where they're from but I've had similar dogs from Ball Park. The burgers are small and thin. Fries are okay. Rings are okay. Add sauce to everything and it all improves greatly! I had a chocolate milkshake and it tasted just like a Frosty from Wendy's. I wouldn't particularly go out of my way to eat here regularly. Though on a sunny day with no real direction, it's nice to take a drive to try someplace new. This particular visit was probably my 3rd time eating here in 15 years. Reid's is a Lockport tradition though, so if you just happen to be in town, make sure you check it out! You will only need about $7.00 per person for a burger, fries and a drink. You order from a window, very close to the road (watch your children). Service is extremely fast, even on the busiest days you can expect to have your food as fast as you would at a fast food chain. If you are a germaphob, eat in your car. The picnic tables available to stuff your faces are questionable at times and the french fry obsessed seagulls which swarm the area leave their fair share of gifts on the premises. However as you sit in your car with your pop in the cup holder and your little cardboard box balancing on your knees you will have an unforgettable food experience. I wasn't alive in the 1950's, but the food from Reid's takes you back to then...when food was cheap, simple, greasy and delicious. They serve, hands down, the best little burger in Western New York. Looking for a quick good bite, Reid's is the spot. Its a walk up window, with the old time feel. We got a burger and a hot dog and a vanilla shake that came to $5.90 (no that's not a typo, literally less than $6). The food was out in a matter of minutes. The quality was pretty good, definitely not filling and was very simple but was still good. Had to go back up and this time got a double cheeseburger and my girlfriend tried a white hot. Same story. The white hot was a pretty decent, not the best, not the worst I've had. All in all the food is average but it's a place I'd stop at if I ever pass it again. I'm giving this establishment two stars because the price of the food is still very low which is a good thing in this day and age. However growing up in Western New York reads was the biggest treat we could ever have we have here at least three times a month. I now live in California and I have returned to Western New York twice in the month of September of this year both times I went to Reeves and ordered a white hot with sauce which was always my favorite. I was very disappointed when I received my food and you could barely see any sauce on the hotdog both times and the flavor was just not the same anymore it was like it was water down. I understand that the prices have gone up now as hard on restaurant owners but when you change the quality of something that has been a wonderful place for so many years you start to lose customers I was very disappointed because I always look forward to going there. read more

I lived in Gasport, New York as a kid. A special treat for the family was a meal at Reid's. I remember ice cold bottles of pop stored in a cooler that surrounded a tree. The milkshakes were delicious. But, the best part of a Reid's meal was the sauce. We moved to Toronto when I was a teen. Trips to see our New York family and friends always included a stop at Reids. We also bought bottles of their sauce to carry us over until our next visit. I'm 62 now and live in Cleveland. One of the items on my bucket list is to visit Reids one more time. read more
