The best/cheap food you'll get in Lockport. I worked at Reid's for two years while I was in high school. Reid's is a Lockport tradition, founded in the early 1900s, and a MUST place to go to eat. This is a classic american restaurant, cheap hamburgers and hotdogs. They are known for their sauce (LeFrois sauce), which is commonly added to hotdogs, cheeseburgers, and french fries. I would recommend their double cheeseburgers or a hot dog with sauce and onion. Sloppy hotdogs are also great to try, one of the best options on the menu. read more

Best place to grab a burger/hotdog/fries/milkshakes in Lockport! Located in a small town this burger hot dog joint is awesome. I miss this place terribly since i moved away three years ago and try to go every time I'm home. The prices are incredible and the service is great. As I write this review my mouth is now watering for some fries and a black raspberry milkshake. Too bad I'm 3500 miles away. If you are from Lockport area then you know all about the goings on at Reid's. A summer staple for most in the area. They offer indoor seating...but barely anyone does it. You eat in your car or sit at one of the many picnic tables outside that they have to offer..people do both. The workers take your order from memory so dont be surprised when they write nothing down. From hotdogs to whitehots, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, onion rings, fries, milkshakes, fish sandwiches, hot ham and cheese sandwiches they have a little something for everyone. On nice days there will probably be a line but the food is served out very quickly. They serve "sauce" which I recommend on all items. You can also order onions with the sauce which I love to get on my cheeseburger. (My go to)Smothered sauce=diced cooked onions &sauce. Sliced sauce=raw slice of onion&sauce. The hamburgers are on the thinner side so I would recommend a double. Always. Fries and onion rings are really basic but the sauce atop has you coming back for more! read more

Once a year, we take a drive Sunday drive up north, and on the way back from hanging at the lake in Olcott, or exporing the locks, Reid's is on everyone's mind. 1.30 for a good quality dog on a schwebels roll. I always get 2 white hots with onion and their unique sauce. Nothing else like it. The rings and the fries are just right, nothing to wow you, but the price- One Dollar??? To feed a family of four, with sodays, our bill was 16. In the buffalo area, at Louie's, or Mississippi Mudds, we would've spent at least 10 bucks more. And I am not sure I would've found a white hot! They have tables under an open wooded area out back, or, if it's chilly, a small eat-in area. It's cheap, it's good, it's fast, it's fun. Reid's is a Lockport classic. Been here many years. Great place to take the kids after a ball game or event. Cheap food. Burgers, hot dogs, and grill cheese. 1.50 hamburgs, 2 dollar double cheeseburgs 2.50 for a regular shake. Can eat a decent portion meal for under six bucks. Can't beat that. Foods decent. Simply the best. Unique and quirky, the place has great eats and a very intelligent wait staff who can somehow take an order for 20 without writing it down and nothing is left out. What a place! Anywhere that says "sorry, we don't have that stuff here" in response to a request for lettuce and tomato on a burger is my kind-o-place. Visiting friends in Lockport and they turned us on to this gem. If we could just fix Bill's slow play and Teddy's slice by feeding them some Reid's it would have been the trip of a lifetime. This is your average hot dog stand with ok hamburgs and fries.They use good quality hot dogs, Salhens, and it's really cheap. The restaurant itself may not seem really nice, but it's really not bad at all. The seagulls may seem annoyingly cute at first, but don't let them get too close. As with Dave L, my Dad took me her also in the early 50's on the way to Olcott Beach. I saw a large outdoor metal tub about 6 feet in diameter filled with crush ice and glass bottles of soda pop in all colors. I was mesmerized. Dad told me to go take one. Went to Reid's often in spring/summer of 2014. The food is good and cheap. Yes, ask for sauce on everything it only cost .30 extra. Unfortunately they open the new ice cream building so you don't get the cheap milkshakes anymore. The only down side is the place is very divey. The interior eating area is worn and ratty. Some outside wooden tables need repair, cleaning and painting. read more

It has been at least 6 months since I have been to Reids and their food is still great. You cannot dine any less expensively than Reids. You can take the entire Family for a light dinner for $ 20.00, $ 30.00 if you have hearty eaters. I am thinking about them today as we are having our 3rd nice day in a row and I am contemplating taking everyone there for nice outdoor Lockport Hot Dog and Burger feast.
