Haven't been in almost ten years and it's still great. It's still cash only which is objectively a reason not to go if I'm being honest it's inexcusable in today's day and age. I let it slide for this place because their food is so good. The cheeseburger soup is amazing and their burgers are always fantastic. So fresh and flavorful and nice portions. We also split a steak sandwich which was good and I'm not even a steak person. Still my favorite burger in the area. Three of us had the Sharp Cheddar Burger and ordered the Grover Salad which is a burger with cheese on top of a salad. Well, I remembered having the cheeseburger soup a few years ago and when my daughter was going there recently for a dinner party, I asked her to bring me back some cheeseburger soup. I remembered liking it and my taste buds were amped up but soon disappointed. It really reminded me of fake plastic cheese soup that they put the ingredients in, so it was really hard for me to get past that taste and consistency. It was not easy to handle the lettuce either this time for some reason. Not a normal soup ingredient, but certainly part of the cheeseburger soup experience. I was disappointed in this batch and it wasn't how I remembered it. It's a classic menu item for this restaurant but I'm out... not going to try it anymore. We went because our companions picked it. It a neat old bar room which was nice. The service was friendly but slow , there were only 4 or5 other tables so it wasn't packed. We had very high hopes when entering Grover's. Have heard many people say "best burgers in Buffalo ". The decor is cute old time bar, waitress was friendly but on the slow side. I had the Rustler and partner had a cheddar burger. They were Hugh and even though ordered medium, on the dry side. They also could have had more toppings. 2 in our party of four had the cheeseburger soup which was very good. One had the Cajun wings which he said we good but not outstanding. The fourth person had the burger of the week, a take on the "Big Mac" and said it was okay. Not too many beers on tap but a good cocktail list. No sides come with burgers so we split a basket of rings and fries. Altogether our bill was much higher than expected, drinks menu had no prices and each person had 3 drinks. Grover's has been around for a long time. That's a good thing and their burgers have always been great. It's a big 13oz fresh patty. I ordered mine as a salad although they usually are on a Costanzo roll. For the extra charge, I had Bleu cheese crumbles. The salad was pretty no frills with some tomato, onion and cucumber. I wish they didn't use packets of dressing but, I get it. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Grover's is a great tavern and also has the regular sandwiches and a Friday fish fry. A good enough draught beer selection and I can't pass up the Elicottville blueberry. This place can really get busy so be prepared. read more

Stopped in for lunch the other day. Yes the burgers are huge & good but so many other places are equally as good. And their other sandwiches are also on the big side. I liked the 1/2 & 1/2 basket of Fries & Rings, what a great idea. The turn off for us & the couple sitting next to us was the price of a bottle of domestic beer ($6). Would i go back? I'd try other places first. Paying that much for a beer is ridiculous to me. You might seen that the food is also pricey but once it arrives to the table, the size eliminates that thought. read more

I have been here three times in the last 15 years, whenever I am in the area. It is always consistently very good. Cozy bar/restaurant. Good wings, good drinks, BIG burgers. The cheeseburger soup is also very good if you want the burger flavor, without having a whole burger. Waitress was attentive and personable. Was almost motherly in the best way possible. We've been to Grover's before but never gave a review, walking in it's that small town feel dining experience because well the inside is definitely cozy. We were immediately seated by our waitress Mary who btw was amazing! She got our drinks and food orders placed in near record time. We got a Reuben, an order of kids chicken fingers and I got the Cajun wings. The Reuben was thick and loaded with meat and cheese, a real handful of a sandwich. The kids fingers were crispy and a good size, my child gave it a big thumbs up. The wings were a touch over cooked and the dry rub definitely didn't fit my normal order but I wanted something different. I love bleu cheese and this had some big chunkies in it and I Loved it. Went to Grovers for lunch. First time since under new ownership. Ordered the burger of the week, a Florentine Burger with lettuce, tomato, sautéed mushrooms, cooked spinach and melted provolone. I requested medium rare and it was actually served medium rare. The burger was good but I will probably not order it again because I didn't really care for the cooked spinach. I'm not a big fan of cooked spinach but don't let my preferences stop you from ordering this burger. I also ordered onion rings. They were very good, tasted freshly made and would order them again even though I was told by an employee that they don't make them fresh but buy them frozen. In the search for a burger (RIP Vizzi's), I've had Grovers bookmarked for soo long and finally got around to visiting on my last trip to Buffalo. 80s classic rock/pop is blasting on the exterior speakers and we were greet as soon as we entered, told to have a seat wherever we wanted. Set up looks like an eclectic bar. Seems to be a place where the waitresses have known each other for a while and they have quite a few regulars. 13oz burgers start are $12 for the plain and up. They do not come with fries, which is fine. They have fish fry on Fridays only, so we ordered a dish of that and 2 different burgers. And yes, they do ask you how you would like it cooked. There have quite a few beers on draft, including a handful of local ones. It's $7.50/pint, standard price. When the burger arrived, the first thing I noticed was how solid the patty appeared. It was like a hockey puck. Bun was some nondescript, spongey affair that disintegrated as it gave way to the patty. I wouldn't say the patty was dry, but it wasn't juicy either. I ate half of the burger the next day and I didn't find much flavour in the patty. Overall, it was ok. Fish fry was quite a significant portion, but it's $18. Salads (macaroni, coleslaw, & potato) were a bit salty, as opposed to sweet. Fish tasted as though it was previously made from frozen fish. Fries are definitely frozen, not fresh cut. Wow! That's the first word that comes to mind when I think about my lunch at Grovers. I walked in there with all intentions of enjoying one of their burgers but then spotted the Buffalo fish sandwich on their specials menu and decided to try it. I was amazed when it arrived at our table and I saw how large it was. Certainly not a lunch size. Even a couple at another table commented on it. I couldn't even figure out how to pick it up because there was so much on my plate. I asked the server for another plate. I was finally able to dig in after sharing some fries with my husband and moving some food to the other plate. Well size certainly doesn't matter if the food isn't good. No problem there! Though still so large that I dug in with a fork rather than trying to pick up the sandwich. The fish was lightly batter, flakey, and not at all dry. No idea what's in their boom boom sauce but that along with the Frank's red-hot added a nice kick. The coleslaw was as creamy as described on the menu and not too sweet, which was perfect for me. There was more cole slaw on the sandwich that you'd normally get as a side. Fries were crispy and plentiful. Even the pickles (3) were good. Topped it off with a local Big Ditch Hayburner IPA. My husband enjoyed one of their burgers and onion rings. My only complaint was the bun. It was too small for the sandwich and soft. Actually skipped it totally. Would have preferred it maybe toasted. Made it back 11/29, I got a seat at the bar, bartender was excellent, ordered my cheeseburger did not take long at all. Look delicious couldn't wait to bite into it upon touching it. I noticed that the roll felt like it just came out of the refrigerator, then I positioned the plate a little bit closer and the plate was ice cold. At the side entrance there's a blackboard to sign in, and the waitress came out periodically to check it so we didn't have to wait for long. For dinner, I ordered the red white and blueberry lemonade cocktail and a bleu burger topped with onion straws and a side of fries. The cocktail was meh - tasted like blue Gatorade garnished with blueberries. Wouldn't recommend it. The burger and fries were fantastic though! Took half the burger home and enjoyed just as much the next day. Service was great - our waitress came over frequently and had a good sense of humor too. Best burger I've had in western New York. It is thicker than a hockey puck and somehow perfectly cooked.

I really like coming here and I like the food. But I have to tell you that there are a couple of waitresses that put on so much perfume or whatever it is that I have left on a few occasions before even ordering. Don't get me wrong they are very nice people but the smell is obnoxious. The one girl with the purple hair drove me right out of the restaurant. We like to come here and have a burger and a beer and usually end up spending around $80 But the last 2 times we came there we walked right back out because the smell of the perfume or whatever it is that they feel the need to share with the entire restaurant is just overwhelming Again they are very nice and helpful but the odor from their perfume makes my eyes burn and is just plain obnoxious. read more
