Little did i know that she would not be doing my hair. When i sat in the chair, i expressed to her my worries of heat damage and people being rough with my hair,aka ripping through my ends and high heat. I just wish she told the stylist this. I got an unexperienced styler, at least at blowdrying and flat ironing. Nice lady but she didnt now what she was doing and she was catching an attitude when i told her to be gentle. She ripped through my ends and i heard snapping. She said OH THATS JUST THE ELASTICITY. She then went on to talk about how genetics play a part in how hair grows WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE BTW. if you believe that then theres no hope for you. After she viciously blowdried my hair, she pulled out palmers AKA mineral oil which i havent touched in the 2 years ive been natural. She flatironed a peice and it was wayyy too thin and GREASY. i was pissed beyond belief. I then told her what to do then she finally got the hang of it. I left the salon feeling alright. I could have done a better job myself and i would have treated my hair very very gentle. Ladies, i wouldnt recommend going here if you want a blow out. Im just being real and honest. I thought this would be a place i could rave about but the lady i had doing my hair ignored my request to moisturize with water before she combed and to be more gentle. completely ignored. Dietra is a lovely lady but the lady who did my hair,whose name i did not catch, was NOT. I would have LOVEEDDD to see this girl's license. I didnt go to hair school but i know a shit load more about natural hair then she ever did and you dont RIP through natural hair,its so fagile. wtf. Im never returning. They dont specialize in blow outs btw, they specialize in locs and weaves but either way, they shouldnt offer a service they cant pull through. If youre looking for a blow out, your best perchasing a conair infiniti blowdryer and a good flatiron with a heat guard (vo5 if u can find it). Nice place. very small setting, makes you feel like u have the dance floor and the focus is on you AT FIRST. but unfortunately, thats as far as it went with my experience. Still kind pissed off but i did not show it at all. stay away! Do your own blowouts! watch longhairdontcare2011 on youtube if you want good tutorials. Word of advice from the customer to deitra: Get rid of people who bring your business down! Youll gain in the long run. Your hairstylist just chased away dozens of potential clients!

I got there around 6 on a Monday hoping it wasn't going to be too busy (the weather is nice and usually she's busy) when I arrived there was just one other person there and I didn't have to wait at all. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she said yes they can do that.I had a good head massage when my hair was washed which was a plus. Once washed ( my hair smelled heavenly) she went right to work. In about an hour (maybe less) my hair was done. She even pinned it up for me so that I could sleep without it getting messed up. Hair aside, because we all know she does a great job, the salon is clean and neat. Its next door to a laundromat and a corner store. Her prices are good ( I spent $35 not including tip) I can always count on this salon to be opened. She's opened early and closed late. The salon is also opened everyday. All in all I would recommend this hair salon to everyone. I will definitely be back.

I've only been here once and once was enough. My wife has been here a few times. Most recently they…read moredidn't do her roots correctly and she had to come back to fix it. They always get dye on her skin and never fix it. Sometimes they put Vaseline on the skin to block the dye but that's not helpful when the Vaseline gets into the dyed part and it obstructs the dye from really getting into the hair. She comes home with stains every time. I decided to try them because now that I moved into Queens from Long Island, it's a trip to my usual girl. This place is absolute chaos. From the front to the back, it's not a workable environment. Not to mention not clean or sanitary in the least. Garbage, hair and tin foil EVERYWHERE! I understand it can be hard to maintain cleanliness in a busy environment but at least try to have some structure. They take walk-ins which is probably why they are never on time or get backed up with the people who make actual appointments. I asked for a simple half head color, 2 inch trim and blow. I was told it would be $120 when I came in. Fair price, I didn't pay that much less at my old salon. The woman who dyed my hair was quick but sloppy at times, which explains the discoloration of my front bangs, they have a yellow tint instead of actual blond. They don't have hair dryers so you have to sit with the dye anywhere from 20 minutes to 45, no one actually times you, they just keep prying open your head to check and then keep it moving. I was told the owner would be cutting my hair. Got my hair washed, the woman washing asked me if wanted a special conditioner instead of the regular and I said no thank you. All of sudden plans change. The owner isn't cutting my hair, some other guy is doing it. Ok no big deal. He proceeds to balance cut my hair instead of a volume cut, my hair is super thin, it needs VOLUME. I needed the cut regardless, moving on. I asked him to slightly cut my bangs, he cut them too short. He blows the hair and then all of a sudden whips out a flat iron. I didn't ask for a flat iron. I WANT VOLUME! Why would you flat iron my thin hair after just getting a beautiful blow out?? Then I go to pay and he tells me $140.... I said no. Your prices online and the price given when I first came in is what I should be paying. All of a sudden the woman who washed my hair claims she gave me the special conditioner. I said no you didn't. Then she turned around and laughs and says oh no that's for the customer I have now in my chair... ????? WTAF?! Then they all start arguing with each other in their language. Apparently they do this a lot and can never agree with the pricing. Super embarrassing, unprofessional and makes you feel uncomfortable. I finally paid and left. Don't recommend.

A wash and blow is $25, wash and set $20, and a deep conditioner depending on which one you choose can run you $5-$10. The milk shake deep conditioner is $10 and worth every penny. Although, I didn't get the same results this trip as I did the first time I had it. You may experience language barriers at most Dominican salons out there , but that's not the case here, that's never been a problem. They do like ALL Dominican salons and speak in their language back and forth between stylists, having you believe that you're the topic of conversation, but even that wouldn't stop me from coming here. They know how to do hair well and that's what I'm paying for!
