Used Reign City Electric to do some repairs/install at my home on 5/27, one of which a vanity light was not working. They "fixed" it at the time. But now not 3 wks later the light is again not working. I called this morning only to get voicemail which said to get a faster response send them a text which I did and later when there was no response I called the number and left a voicemail and still unable to speak to someone. I guess they don't stand behind their work. DON'T WASTE YOU TIME WITH THEM. EUGENE IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON IVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. Had to get both Mountlake Terrace inspectors and the Department of Labor involved. The "owner" isn't even a licensed electriction! We never heard so many excuses as to why they wouldn't show up for scheduled appointments. Do yourself a favor and move along to another company. TLDR -- Did zero work after 6 weeks of numerous missed appointments, took our deposit, has not fully refund. Escalating with Venmo to get our money back, filing complaint with Department of Labor + Industries, BBB and considering small claim court. Bottom line: Don't ever pay a penny until the work is done. What started out like a great deal with a good guy slowly devolved into a long series of missed appointments, excuses and and us having to resort to reaching out to Venmo to get our deposit money back. We were super hopeful and happy to have found Eugene. Great energy, lowest quote for a 200amp panel upgrade--50% cheaper than the next lowest bid. However, he began missing his appointments without any notice. We had to reach out to him the morning of to confirm. 1. First time was apparently "our fault" for scheduling it the day before we had to fly out of town, thinking that it would be a one-day job?...Maybe we thought that because we were told it would be a one day job? OK. Rescheduled. NBD. 2. Second try, Eugene had forgotten to take a measurement of our house for the external metal conduit so now he has to come over to take the measurement. OK...he comes over without a measuring tape. NP, I got one. Rescheduled again. 3. Round three, metal pipe isn't ready/his guy is running behind on a job. Rescheduled again. 4. Round four, his shop got broken in. At this point, my wife is ready to bail. I'm dumb and naive enough to want to keep working with him. Ultimately, we made the call to move-on and ask for a refund. Eugene agrees. Then over the next several days, he promised us he would drop off a check because he had maxed out his Venmo. Check never came. Eventually, we got him to give half of our deposit back via Zelle. We continued to support him and wanted him to succeed so my dumbass decides to give him another chance. OK. Back on the schedule. 5. Day of appointment, Eugene says he can't do it bc they're short on people and offers to give the refund back. Bummed, but OK. Then over the course of the following week, it was promises after promises of us getting the refund. At this point, I'm over it and just want my money back so luckily I had Buyer Protection turned on for the Venmo transaction so currently I'm in the dispute process. I look like an idiot in the eyes of my wife. Mind you, we were already scarred from previous contractors and horror stories from our friends of contractors bailing with thousands of dollars of deposit money. Never thought it would happen to us. The complicated part of this whole thing is that Eugene seems to try. He doesn't ignore my texts. It would be a lot easier if he was an a-hole, but he's not. As children of refugees and small business owners ourselves, we have an abundant amount of empathy for Eugene trying make it in this industry as a minority. It aint easy but it doesn't negate the failures we outlined above--like not returning money owe, that's called theft. We hope he gets his things together or able to get the help he desperately needs. Having said all that, we do take the necessary steps to keep contractors accountable, including litigation. We don't enjoy the process but unfortunately, it's a last resort measure that is sometimes needed. read more

I called Reign City because I had a space heater that wasn't working in a rental unit I own. I call them 10/26. Supposed to be there next day. Doesn't show up. Reschedule for the next monday. Shows up, but says there's nothing wrong with the unit. I get charged $331 for no service, and the tenant calls the next day to tell me heater is still not working. So I order a replacement unit and call to see if they can install. (I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.) They come back out, install the unit which is an EXACT MATCH for the hole in the wall. These geniuses install it upside down (in spite of the unit being clearly labeled TOP), and don't do any shimming to make it fit the existing hole. (see photo for what passes for acceptable work) I get charged another $303. When I inspect the work, I'm pissed. I've paid over $600 for shoddy install. I call Eugene to complain. He offers to redo the work, and a $150 refund. I passed on the rework - but said, yeah send me a refund. You know what's next - never sent the refund. Avoid at all costs. read more

Checked all my stuff - diagnosed my problem, relocated some fixtures so I didn't have to replace everything to make them match, then headed to the depot to buy replacements. He texted me pictures of options, I bought - came back and he installed. BOOM. Easy easy easy. They were very nice and polite and did a great job. I looked at these reviews because I was just about to give Reign City another shot. I just changed my mind. I had Eugene personally come out to my house over 2 years ago. He was friendly with a very jovial personality. My husband and I liked him. He checked out the issue which was not an emergency and could wait. Gave me a quote and said he'd schedule his best tech to come back the next day to do the job. No one showed. I called and he said someone would come the next day, which would be our 3rd day of interaction. Again, no one came. I texted and called again to no avail. On about day 6, I heard from Eugene. Family tragedy. I understood that. He said he'd reach out in another week after this passed. I went with that. I waited then I reached out in maybe 3 weeks and heard back from him. He said he would personally come the next day. Yay, I was on the schedule! Unfortunately, I am still waiting. Not even a phone call or response to my next messages ever again. I have to say that I was specifically searching for minority owned electricians which is a few and far between thing in the PNW. I also want to say that I did not want to write this review and have been struggling with putting this experience on Yelp because I didn't want him to receive negative reviews which could hurt his business. Eugene, I know you read your reviews and I'm sure you'll see this one. I remember your business had a different name when I used you. Something like Lightning Bolt I believe? It was catchy. Had scheduled a facetime call for 8/27 at 8:30 am with Eugene but no one ever contacted me. I tried calling but the no one answered and the mailbox was full. I reached out to the person who scheduled the appointment and they said they don't work weekends and to contact the owner (which I tired) and that he "probably just got busy." Unfortunately, these people are unreliable. Will be looking elsewhere. Edited to respond: It is not my job to know that it was dispatch's first day on the job. If that's the case, then teach them better. I did my due diligence before posting a review. I called but the VM was full. I reached out to an employee but they said they didn't work on the weekends. What is a customer supposed to do? Wait around and see what the problem was? That's not a good business model. You have to take the good review with the bad. Got an almost immediate response. My info was sent to Eugene who called. I need a new ground wire run for a new water heater. 2 guys showed up. Looked at job and left for Home Depot to get wire. The return and in 15 minutes walking out. "How was it?" I asked and as walking out I get a "all good new ground installed!" I go check and no new ground was installed and they stole a $70 flashlight. I called Eugene who said worker had already quit and he didn't think he took the flashlight. He felt his guys did the job and he would get back to me. 2 weeks later writing this review... After some initial miscommunication about date and time, the technician came out earlier than expected and on a Saturday morning. He was very knowledgeable and explained the problem with the faulty GFI outlet (one of many do it yourself projects that were done before we bought the house). We just moved into an older house and needed a faster charger added for our EV. We used Yelp to gather estimates. The estimates received varied considerably, some ranging into several thousand dollars to install a single NEMA 6-50 receptacle in my garage. Reign City's estimate was the lowest at ~650 bucks. They came out within two days to confirm the estimate, and the actual work was completed a week later. I was really impressed by the speed that Reign City moved, especially when you compare them to other electricians in the area. It took me longer to get an estimate from other electricians than it took Reign City to estimate & complete the work. In terms of quality, Reign City did a flawless job. You can see the quality of this work in the pictures I've uploaded. The receptacle was installed with high quality materials & is completely flush with the wall. They used a 60-amp breaker and plug, and the charging speeds I see are consistent with that. I also decided to have a few fans installed. The fan electrical boxes were installed on studs with high quality materials. I was able to mount both fans onto them without issue. Overall, 5/5. They were fast, efficient, and did great work. I want to commend Perez (he indicated he went by his last name) for his fantastic service. We had a garage GFI breaker that was tripping regularly. I thought this may have been that we were overloading the service for the garage with a new freezer we had. I'd also asked him to check a fluorescent light we had that wasn't working despite me changing the bulbs. He came on time and evaluated the issue when he noticed that the fluorescent light was leaking from the ballast. He opened the light enclosure and we discovered the ballast had melted inside and the wiring had burned. So, it was constantly shorting and tripping the breaker. He removed it and terminated the wiring at the J BOX. Would definitely recommend again (this was in November of 21'). The only thing that I felt could be improved was the initial response time from Eugene, but I imagine running a business you can only do so much to get back to everyone. read more

I told them that my landlord was an entitled asshole, who made it clear that they didn't want to see any "trashy" cables or holes in his fence. They took this to heart, and the job came out looking spectacular. Just a short piece of conduit on the outside of the building. They ran the cable under some rocks across the sidewalk, then bored a hole in the concrete. Then they ran about 25' of conduit down to the parking spot. Second quote: Finally showed up the second appointment, gave a quote much lower than the others. Even offered to dig the trench needed in our yard for $500. First appointment: It snowed on the weekend, so claimed that he was behind on jobs. Moved our Monday appointment to Saturday. Second appointment: Eugene's son was in a car accident. Sent us a bunch of pictures of the accident. (We found this weird) Third appointment: No show. Can't start work because he can't pull a permit on a weekend. We had specifically brought up this issue during the week before. Fourth appointment (Monday - we even took day off work): Claims he bought materials and needed a deposit. We paid ~$1000. No one shows up. Stops answering texts, phone calls, etc. Thankfully we had used Paypal to pay him, and were able to do a chargeback. read more

I hired Reign City Electric to replace my electric panel and install a wall heater. They were initially responsive during the estimate process, so I hired them. We scheduled a time for them to come do the work, and they were a no show. The owner said they forgot to put it on the calendar. We scheduled a new time for them to come and when they arrived, they said they couldn't start the job at 10am and needed more time. It didn't make sense why they would schedule something at 10am, but then arrive only to say they couldn't do it. Eventually, they finally completed the job. But a week or so later, our lights started flickering. I've been calling and texting for 3+ weeks to no response. Today, our lights completely went out on one level of our home. We've continued to call and text multiple numbers, but have not heard anything back. Incredibly, the folks at Reign City helped me solve my electrical problem--for free. I described how a bunch of kitchen outlets kept failing, and how I thought the GFI outlet might be the problem. Only one way to find out: replace it. Only one problem: simple as it is, I'd never replaced one before. Solution: Reign City led me through it over the phone. With the new GFI in place, the circuit kept popping. That proved that the old GFI was actually fine... so I could conclude that the problem was actually with the stove--the only device still connected to an outlet on the circuit. So I got a strong friend to help me move it. As soon as I unplugged the stove, my electrical problems went away. Result: instead of paying$200 for an electrician to tell me I really wanted an appliance repair person, I was able to find that out at no cost. I also learned a bit more electricity in the process. Hired Reign City to remove knob and tube wiring from our home. Received multiple texts to pay invoices which were not mine. Also sent incorrect invoices via email. This company is in DESPERATE need of an office manager. The 3 day project took longer than planned, the crew disappeared over the 3 day weekend with no warning, leaving the project unfinished for days with no one to contact. Upon completion of the project, they failed to schedule an inspection, and have ghosted me ever since. ZERO response to phone calls, emails and text. I had two bathroom vent fans installed by Reign. Not only did they come back with the most competitive quotes, but they were one of the few companies who were also willing to install the ducting to vents in my roof, which is a major pain due to needing to crawl in the attic space. Roberto was on time, completed the job without issue. He had to cut a larger hole in the drywall to fit the new fans, and did so without needing to make any drywall repairs. It's such a relief when a tradesperson is on time, quotes quickly and finishes the job when they say they will! We are remodeling our house and I can't count how many times I've have people be extremely unreliable and waist my time. Reign city electric was the exception! Our hot tub had been installed over a year ago and recently the guy who was cleaning our hot tub told us he noticed some exposed wire underground. It seems that the electrician had hidden some wires underground, completely exposed which could have been a huge problem! Eugene had his team come out immediately and fix it. I tried to get a quote with this business on 11/22/22 for a home EV charger station and scheduled a FaceTime estimate on 11/23 morning. Eugene said he was on vacation, so after the assessment, I decided to go with this company and he arranged to send an electrician to do the installation on 11/29 9:30am-12:30pm. However, i didn't get any confirmation or invoice, so I reached out to Eugene on 11/28 morning to get a confirmation. He said he is behind schedule and will contact me by the late afternoon. I need to arrange my work schedule with my company, so I prefer to know it at least the day prior to the project. By 6pm on 11/28, I still did not hear anything from Eugene, so I left him a SMS and iMessage to ask if the electrician will still come on 11/29 or not. At 1:27pm on 11/29 (4 hours passed the supposed project time), I still get no response by this company. I think this company is very bad in communication and not have business etiquette, at least tell me if they need to reschedule, or if they can take this project or not. I received feedback from Reign City Electric quickly after I reached out for a quote and was able to get someone over in a few short days to assess the project. The assessment was brief and they were able to get someone out to me immediately in the same day to help install an electric outlet for my washer. The gentleman who came by to install the outlet only needed 15 - 20 minutes to complete the installation. Tagline: Unfinished work, lies, making a mess, obnoxious communications, job without permit, more lies and have I mentioned making a mess? When Eugene, the owner called me back about my project, I told him that I already have a bid for this job. He offered to undercut the other contractor by $500. Then he has personally inspected the work site and confirmed his price verbally and in writing. However, already after the starting the job, he started negotiating for a higher price, claiming that he hasn't accounted for something when bidding. Effectively he's been twisting my arms, holding the project hostage and cheating not only me, but also the contractor whom he's underbid. Also, the job that he estimated to take a day, took 3 days, delaying the project further. The delay wasn't not because of it's complexity, but because his employees were late by several hours, and didn't come with the required tools and materials, so they had to come back. The electricians did an ALMOST competent job, but it wasn't good enough to pass the inspection. After city inspector requested corrections, the Reign city has never came back to finish the job. After waiting for them in vain for several days, I had to pay other electrician to do the fixes - couldn't delay the project any further. That's not all. Eugene has lied to me verbally and in writing that he got the permit before starting the job. The permit for which I have paid, by the way. Then, for many days, using many pretexts he wouldn't be sending me the promised copy of the permit. But in reality, as I found from city records, he only got the permit several days AFTER the job was already done, only the day when I assertively pressed him to produce the permit and schedule the inspection. I actually had to contact my attorney about the whole situation, and he found that Eugene already has 7 violations on his license for doing the work without permit - and these are only the times when he was caught and reported. I'll make sure to add an 8th violation to his file. Lastly, his guys made a mess out of the house. They had a messy job to do, it's understandable, but they made the mess of the whole house, not just the area where they worked. They haven't used dust barriers, no drop cloths, they even showed up to job without garbage bags - three days in a row. The mess was horrendous. And that's not all - several weeks after, when inspecting my crawlspace, I found that Eugene's electricians blasted open the hatch door leading outside, under the deck, and just left it open - a 2'x2' hole, exposing my house to invasion of all sorts of critters. I scheduled an appointment for EV installation was given a date and time, I was expecting the electrician on the day of the appointment and received a text an hour before to let me know he was not going to make it that I had to call Kassidy to reschedule. I called Kassidy (I guess she is the secretary/assistant?) and she gave me an appointment for the following week, once again on the day of the appointment no one showed up. I called to ask and Kassidy told me she did not find anything on the schedule under my name, because this was the second time I was getting dismissed I told her I wanted my money back. At that point I didn't trust someone would show up even though I had already paid in full. She told me she needed to call me back to figure out why I was not on the system, I told her I was no interested any longer because I was in a rush to hire someone so I could just get a refund. She was very offended (not sure why) and started screaming at me, telling me I was causing her stress and most of the things she was yelling I couldn't really understand because of how upset she was. She then proceeds to send me text messages saying I was rude and she was not going to be treated that way and was causing her stress. It was a very bizarre and weird conversation but very unprofessional. First because my appointment was canceled last minute, second because my second appointment was not even on the system and third because this person called Kassidy who has no customer service experience at all. Not nice, very rude and unstable by the way she was screaming and the things she was saying. Kassidy told me to talk to the owner directly so I asked for the phone number for which she responded with "look it up yourself". Nothing against the owner which by the way was helpful and apologetic but still it was a very odd situation which makes you think this is a sketchy business and they want to steal your money. Please please please DO NOT pay in advance! It will be very hard getting the service done that way. I made the mistake of trusting and paying in full, most businesses require a deposit only. Be careful with this lady, she has a hard time being nice to customers and has no empathy towards customer's situations and won't help you. Update: I got a call from Eugene asking me to take down the review, I told him no because of the many inconveniences and the way I was treated by his staff member. He never assumed responsibility for the actions of Kassidy and went on and on that she just had a baby and was dealing with too much. Completely understand that part but that doesn't give her the right to yell and be disrespectful, if she just had a baby and is having a hard time she shouldn't be working and instead taking time off. His reply just confirms the fact that he is again not assuming responsibility and keeps justifying the actions of this person. When you call twice and you are told your appointment was rescheduled and then that rescheduled appointment didn't exist because they couldn't find me on the system yes the first thought is "oh wow this was a scam" especially when I asked Kassidy for a refund and she hanged up on me. The invoice I was sent was specifically for the total amount, there was no option for partial payment or deposit and I was told very clearly I had to pay so I could get confirmation of appointment. I was sent an invoice by text message which I proceeded to pay, but again the owner is blaming me for my mistake?. Like I told you Eugene, you need to deal with the consequences of your actions and your staff's actions.
