I went here on a Sunday with some friends. The store was pretty small and. Didn't have an amazing supply. A lot of stuff was out of stock and some of the testers seemed pretty old. Other than that it was pretty nice! I was just a little disappointed in the size of the shop & quantity of stuff. It was also pretty expensive... Overall, i might go here again but probably not. This is an adorable Japanese store with all kinds of Tokyo fashions and styles. It's very popular and it's right next to Dun Huang Plaza, and we love it as do many people. Props to the girl at the register. First time here and was told we can't bring the drinks throughout the store but welcome to leave it in the side of the counter. At first, I didn't hear her so I wasn't sure what she said. She repeated herself but in a respectful way when I start walking around. Later on, someone came in with her teenager daughter without a mask. She politely told them mask is required. The other lady kept yelling how masks are not required if they got vaccinated. I was going to eventually step in but the girl at the register calmly said masks are required at their store, it only applies to public places, not private own businesses. I stared at that lady while she was making a scene of herself and she walked away. She said she would grab her mask but I saw her walking to her car complaining about the whole situation and drove off. Honestly, prop to you girl for being so calm, saying it respectfully, and standing your ground. To anyone who read this, I hope you respect businesses regulation of whatever they want to do. We are still in a pandemic so if the business require you to wear a mask, just wear one. You don't go into a nice high class restaurant dressing like a prostitute, now would you? All businesses have the right to refuse service so don't be an ass. Anyways, to the review. It's a cute Japanese cosmetic store with many Japanese quality products that you would find in Asia. I never write reviews and torn on sharing because I kind of want this place to remain a secret from non-chinatown, but that isn't the right thing to do. This place is amazing! I used to work in luxury beauty for a major company in NYC and am always looking for different items that work. I used to travel to Asia and bring back suitcases of skincare and cosmetics way before face oils J-Beauty was a mainstream thing. Until I found Shibuyala, I could only get these products either at specialty supermarkets, online, by asking friends to carry it back in their suitcases which meant I often spent more time looking for specific things. Then came Shibuyala to Houston :) When I actually walked in and I saw so many of the items I love so conveniently organized and curated I was beyond happy. Yes the prices are a tiny bit higher than if you went and found each individual item yourself, BUT the store is so convenient and the people that work there are so helpful! The time and effort it saves me to get almost everything in one place (not to mention well curated) is beyond worth a small premium. It is a luxury experience. Plus they constantly have new stock of top selling items as ranked by Cosme and you can see what is back in stock on Instagram. They also have a good rewards program and the owner is amazing. I meet her late the first night I was in and she was kind enough to keep the store open for me because I didn't realize what time it was. They go above and beyond explaining the products to someone like me who doesn't speak Japanese. Which is great because it means less googling and also no major error purchases that won't work for you. As a side comment: Lets also be honest 9pm is very generous hours for those of you that keep wanting to stay later. I know this is a beauty supply store but it has one of the cutest interiors! My friend brought me and took lots of cute photographs and we didn't end up buying anything but the staff didn't seem to mind. If you're black, be prepared for possibly being followed. I decided to treat myself to some Japanese skincare but left empty handed because I was made to feel like a criminal. There was an employee in all black with brunette hair in an updo who was constantly following me. I couldn't even look at the nail polish in peace. If you have signs everywhere saying customers are on camera, why do you need to follow people too? I will not be returning. What a disappointing and upsetting experience. read more

I was really confused about this place because I was beaconed to this place by all the pink. I kept driving by it and just had to stop. It is very cute IG shop but I think they could make some improvements to really make it better. They have beauty products but I couldn't read or figure out what they were for since I didn't understand the language. I would love to see more practical cute items and more pink. Great selection of imported cosmetics and housewares from Japan. Whenever I'm over on this side of town this is always a favorite stop!

I would give it 1 star, but a couple products I was looking at were lower price here compared to Amazon. However, other than that my experience was absolutely horrendous. I understand Mandarin Chinese and heard the workers there taking badly about paying customers, and they were extremely rude to me during check out despite being the only person who actually purchased anything ($50 worth of skin care). They didn't say thank you for coming, were rude when I asked about the rewards program and when I was asking questions about products. They also spilled something right in front of the cashier and I had to reach around it to pay, I wasn't apologized to or anything. I was also rushed to sign and pay when asking about the rewards program. The girls working there are pieces of work... extremely rude and uppity, as if they were paying you to shop there. It's a cute and clean Japanese themed store, they have a small selection of things and it's hard to read the English labels on things, but the prices well labeled on most things. They also have random Japanese sweets and snacks, cleaning products, feminine hygiene products and baby products. But honestly the customer service was so terrible I wouldn't recommend people to go there. Also it's Japanese cosmetic products not Korean so many brands are pretty much unheard of here except for Hado Labo, and they don't even have the full line of that. I'd much rather recommend paying customers interested in Asian Beauty to go to the Tony Moly store in Houston. The cashier there was SO nice and helpful and gave tons of samples! read more

What a cute little place in bellaire. They have a variety of things from make up, household supplies, skin care, hair products, etc. Employees don't follow you around and badger you while you're shopping. I found a few interesting things, but the prices are way up there, which made me make the conscious decision of not needing all those products. I wanted to try this chapstick that they had and the ingredients looked natural and healthy, but the price was over $10. I guess my lips will just have to settle for cheaper products. Overall, cute products, but not worth the price, especially when you can find an equivalent american product for half the price. read more

My experience was okay.. I don't enjoy that some of the employees keep asking if you need help or basket??? The boss and her boyfriend are just there observing customers very weird indeed. They should just have the employees in a designated section instead of asking 24/7 if they need to help me. Only employee that I actually liked was Blanca she's super sweet and kind! I had a great experience at this new beauty shop! Firstly, the atmosphere is super cute. There are many photo-worthy backdrops. The store is bright, well-stocked, and has lots of variety. I saw skincare products from various cosmetic lines (HadaLobo, Curel, Sana, Naturie to name a few.) Prices are very clearly displayed. They also sold makeup tools, hair products, and feminine products. Some products had testers available, though I wish there were more testers set out for a wider range of products. There is also a sink and mirror in the back of the shop for testing out cleansers - very cool! Lastly, kudos to Blanca for excellent customer service! I just love love love this store!! Saw their pictures online and thought It's cutely decorated. They has variety of Japan products. (All Asian girls in Asia know that Japanese beauty products work wonders) The girls there were very helpful. I told they what I was looking for and they helped me picked out a few things that I needed. I bought I set of anti-acne set that are very popular online and has been using it since. It actually works. Lol ive bought many similar US anti-acne products they were Expensive and total disappointments lol the foundation also worked perfectly. Not too thick but enough to give you a good cover up. And they have a lot of cute little things such as air refreshing products, brush that has a red heart on it, and the gel that comes out like a flower and makes your toilet smells like a flower too. Decided to park and see what it was; at first I taught there was a soda pop vending machine and as I looked closer found out it was actually the front door. Went in and found out it's actually a Korean - Japanese make up and self care products store. The store inside its really cute and eventhough packaging is in Korean or Japanese it has some translation to English and pricing available. Cashiers were very friendly. First time coming to this store since I'm not from the Houston area, but every time I come I tend to explore the Bellaire area a bit. I passed by the store on my last trip, and was fascinated by the exterior. Today I went and the store was very cute! The prices are expensive, but we are not close to the Pacific Ocean so shipping and tax is most likely added to items! I was looking for facial cleanser, and my husband was looking at some for me as well. One of the employees came over and asked him about his skin type, thinking he was shopping for himself which was hilarious to me. It's nice to know employees will help men too! We ended up finding a simple facial cleanser for my sensitive skin and a cat hair band. I ended spending about $30 which wasn't bad since skin care is usually pretty expensive. Stopped by while exploring Houston's Chinatown and was pulled in by the really cute front doors. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and offered help if I needed it. I ended up walking around with my friend for a few minutes just checking things out when I became curious about a toner. The woman who helped me was super knowledgeable about the product I was asking about and even showed me a few other similar products that might suit my needs better. I loved that she knew so much about everything she was showing me and had some tips on how to use them for the best results. My friend and I even asked where she got her cute sailor moon enamel pin and she told us all about it! I don't remember her name, but wish I did because I'd recommend asking for her to help you! Both the exterior and interior of the store is gorgeous and eye-catching, and they have EVERYTHING. Along with that the store atmosphere is usually peaceful and empty, and the staff is nice.
