I live 30 min away and always try to call and order my food or ask a question before ordering and they never answer the phone. I mean never. I came here with my boyfriend for the first time on Saturday. I am originally from MA and have been craving Nigerian food for a while. They have really good Nigerian restaurants in Boston so I was hoping to find a really good one in South Florida too. What I really wanted was some good fufu and Stew. We tried the Egusi stew and pounded yams (fufu). It was very flavorful and tasty! We ordered it with no meat but kept the red sauce. My boyfriend really loved the red sauce and ordered another bowl of it separately to dip his fufu in. We also ordered the Ogbono stew (made with mango seeds). It is extremely nutrient dense but neither of us enjoyed the flavor. I would absolutely go back for the egusi stew! It was the best part. This restaurant has been on my go to list for a while. In South Florida, West African food isn't that easy to find. I actually believe this the only restaurant that we have down here. Last weekend, I was in the Fort Lauderdale area and decided to visit. This was my first time ever eating West African food. As I entered, the place was empty but very spacious. I was recommended by a host to try the egusi with assorted meat with pounded yam. (I also wanted to try jollof rice, but it was not finished). Since, I was in a rush I opted for takeout and decided to eat at home. When I got home I heated it up. This food was soo delicious. The assorted meat added to the egusi which made it very flavorful. I only hope that the doordash page would allow me to assign Fufu to other dishes. Aside from that, I am a FAN. Not to mention they really have excellent customer service. How disappointing. Long post but I'll try to make it worth while! 2nd visit I decided to return with my husband so that he can try it for himself since he liked the chicken that he tried from my plate prior. My husband and I are foodies and enjoy trying different foods so we really kept an open mind the whole night but things progressively went downhill. We arrived around 5-6 pm and there were a fair amount of people there already so to us this was a good sign. We decided to dine in to have the full experience. There was only one young girl working the counter so we had no chance but to be patient. After about 5 minutes she came to us to order. We are from the Caribbean and are used to ethnic restaurants not always having all menu items available so our first question was "what DON'T you have?" She quickly stated that they were out of fish and chicken. It was only about 6pm, literally dinner time so to be out of chicken, of all things, was a bit surprising. 3 other people arrived at counter and she spent alot of time with counter folks over 15 minutes and pretty much neglected those who chose to dine in. At this point service was at zero. I decided to try the ogbono with, goat, beef, and cow foot ( just the ankle part. she understood and took note) with pounded yam. Husband decided on efo riro with beef, goat and a side of jollof rice with plantains and drinks. Remembering my first visit I waved her down and asked if our order will have ample amount of meat. She confidently stated yes your orders will have alot of meat. After 30 minutes still waiting with no drinks not even water, yes 30 minutes, my husband asked if we can get the drinks we ordered, she responded "yea you can get them right there" pointing to refrigerator. So my husband got up to go and get our drinks we ordered (mind you we told her wanted to dine in) by this time the place was already emptying out around 7 something and we still did not get our food (can you tell how patient we are?) The girl then comes to us and tells us after 30 minutes or so waiting for our food "sorry, i forgot to tell you that we are also out of beef and efo riro". My husband and I were completely defeated at this point. My husband does not eat too many exotic meats and was already disappointed that there was no chicken, fish, now no beef or even efo riro so now he was just stuck with goat, cow foot, or tripe. We pushed on so husband decided on egusi with just goat. Restaurant has been empty now for about 15 minutes and still no attentive service. Food finally comes out piece by piece lol. Husband opens his food and sees nothing but "egusi", skin, tripe and a piece of cow foot! And my plate had barely any meat and pounded yam tasted off. We called the girl over to tell her that his plate has nothing but skin and tripe and no goat meat. She acted confused stated that the cook told her it was all goat in his order before coming out to serve( scam). I then pointed out to her that I barely have any meat in mine and it had part of the cow foot that I didnt prefer. I asked her if we can talk to the cook to confirm what meats my husband had in his plate but she never followed this request. Instead she says... *deep exhale with annoyed look on face* and I quote "look, you did not come at a good time, I miscalculated how much meat we had, there was alot of orders before you so the cook gave you whatever we had left" (scam) . Husband and I looked at each other when she said that... just shocked. What did she mean we came at a bad time and got whatever that was left? My husband refused to eat his left over mystery skin and just kept his rice with 5 pieces of plantain, I kept my food because I had already started tasting and picking at it. Later on my husband told me that she was rolling her eyes. Why behave this way? We were patient with the girl the whole time and tried to practice understanding the whole experience even after multiple let downs and the fact that it was just her in operation. She spent way more time with the to go orders rather than paying attention to those choosing to dine in and when it died down there was STILL no service. For 15 or so minutes we couldn't even find you to just ask for a bottle opener. So why do you get to roll your eyes?? My husband even saw her on her phone on what looked like Facebook. We walked in optimistic, proud, and hungry.... walked out disappointed, annoyed, and completely disregarded. Overall there is no passion, motivation or anything to REJOICE about this place. They are over charging customers for no reason and the quality of the food is not there. If you want to try it out don't even bother coming after 5pm. They'll give you scraps of food and hide it underneath sauce and seasoning hoping you wont notice and try to charge full price. so do your research before coming here. read more
