UPDATE: 9/30/07 Booked another facial through Goldstar and got Yukari again! She's amazing. She rejuvenated my dry, hungover skin and took 10 years off my age. (If anyone asks, I'm 24.) She also gave me a rock-star massage that my weary computer shoulders desperately yearned for. I also have such a good time talking to her. I shouldn't let 3 months elapse between facials again. **************************************************************************** Because I'm a cheapskate, I use Goldstar for massages, facials, any beauty treatment I desperately need but rarely get due to my skinny piggy bank. So last week I finally get PAID (freelancing sucks), and once I paid off MasterCard, Visa, and all the other serfs who own me, I reserved myself a nice little microdermabrasion facial at Rejouvenance. Recently refurbished, the space is beautiful, tranquil, and serene. Yukari, the cutest Japanese esthetician ever, massaged, moisturized, tonerized, and microdermabrasionized (which feels like a cat licking your face) away a year of drinking, sun damage, caffeine, fatigue, and drunk ciggie smoking. Call me a sicko, but the idea of sandblasting grime and gunk from my face is heavenly. My face is glowing and radiant now. At the end of the treatment, there was surprisingly zero sales pressure to buy products. In fact, I had to ASK for their menu of services. So today I'm resigned to no drinking, no sun, lots of sleep, and vitamins. Yeah, I'll ruin it by tomorrow, but then I'll just have to return for more facials! read more

Very pleased with the results ~ can't believe it, my skin is glowing! The 90-minute facial really seemed to have 'Turned Back the Time' on my face. My esthetician, Veronica was great ~ nice personality and clearly explained each step. The owner has done a nice job renovating the space ~ feels like you're in a cozy, relaxing SF clutter-free home. I won't go into the specifics, but the equipment used was definitely hi-tech. I even saw mini-lightening bolts coming out of the magic wand used on my face. Tingly during the process which exfoliated a few layers of skin, but worth it. Feels as smooth as a baby's... PS: Be sure to look for the door (on Vallejo) that says 'Rejouvenance' on it. read more

The morning after an elite event. That means I drank too much the night before and I'm feeling toxic. My coworker comes in that morning glowing after being sick as a dog the day before. I ask her why see is glowing and she says "I went to this thing called an Infrared Sauna and I got all the toxins out of me". I jumped on google and found a few places in the city who had Infrared Saunas and Rejouvenance had the best price and was closest to me. I booked online for the same day and got a confirmation call and e-mail within half an hour. I arrived a little early and quickly learned that I had to be buzzed in. The gentleman that was there quickly got me a glass of water and I relaxed and read magazines. The place is really cute but might be just a touch overdecorated. It did project a very serene vibe though. Yolanda led me over to the Sauna which is basically a big wooden box. She explained how it worked and then she went a got me a pitcher of water and also showed me how to turn on the light show inside the Sauna (swanky). I disrobed and relaxed and enjoyed 30 minutes of pure bliss and shifting colored lights. It was 160-170 degrees but I was still able to breathe and I could honestly feel my stress and toxicity decreasing as I sweated it away. After I was done I paid the very reasonable price of 20 dollars and went home feeling very happy with myself. A great experience and I will be back to detox soon. read more

I wanted to really this place, but it was not meant to be. Now I didn't DISLIKE it... it just wasn't "all that". Some observations: 1. The aesthetician, Kathy, was very nice and gentle indeed, and didn't try to sell me anything. Props to her! 2. Their top of the line facial that I bought online from goldstar events was described thus: "Rejouvenance Micro-Signature Facial (75 min.) Rejouvenance Signature Facials are the ultimatum in skin care treatment you will ever experience as a combination of customized ingredients and amazing technologies are involved to provide the best results possible. Clients just love it! Signature Facials are Yolanda's specialty and are customized for each clients, microdermabrasion treatment is included in this must have treatment." Well, the actual treatment was only 60 mins. Call me fussy, but I was EXPECTING that extra 15 mins. of pampering, damn it! 3. Hand and neck massage do not match up to the Jurlique facials. I know it's easy for y'all to think: "well, serves your sorry ass right, for cheating", but come on (!!!)... I HAD to know what was out there! It wasn't cheating... it was merely browsing/research... my long term interest, love and devotion remains for Jurlique. 4. Microdermabrasion (my 3rd ever) was the best I've ever had... very gentle. I think that for someone wanting to purchase a set of sessions, they have very reasonable pricing indeed...something to the tune of $50 per session. All in all: an ok, not great, experience. Given the number of well rated day spas here in the city, I think it would be madness to not choose to throw my hard earned money elsewhere the next time. Btw, something strange: I also looked for reviews on citysearch as well (oh god... how many sins have I confessed in this one review?), and found a bunch of recent reviews raving about the place, but pretty much all the recent (good) ones were through accounts that had published only one review in total, for... you guessed it... this business! Situations like these always make me wonder if it is the owner and staff themselves pumping up their ratings? hmmm... UPDATE: Skin's not loving it, a week after the facial. I have been going to Rejouvenance for over a year, and must say I swear by it. I initially was drawn to go to Rejouvenance when it was located right by my old apartment on Taylor St. The first time I walked into Rejouvenance, Yolanda Forootan (the owner and your personal esthetician) made me feel right at home. The salon (when it was on Taylor St and now) has a gorgeous and chic ambiance. When Yolanda moved her salon to the current larger spot on Polk and Vallejo, and when I moved to the Cow Hollow district, I remained a faithful customer. Anyway, I go to Yolanda primarily for her "Et Volia Braxilian Bikini" wax. Getting a Braxilian wax, is a very personal experience, and Yolanda definitely not only makes me feel comfortable but she does an excellent job with minimal pain. 25 minutes or so, you are all done and ready to go. She always encourages her clients to double check her work, to make sure she didn't miss anything. For the first time last Friday, I tried Rejouvenance's spray tan. I must say Yolanda again not only did a thorough job, but she, per usual, made the experience comfortable, and I left feeling satisfied. I would recommend to go to Rejouvenance to get a spray tan as well because I left with a naturally looking tan and did NOT look ORANGE. People noticed I had color but, they just assumed I was out in the sun. Anyway, I would HIGHLY recommend going to Rejouvenance if you are looking for a excellent salon to get waxes or spray tans. read more

Considering the raves from everyone, I am very disappointed with my experience in this spa. They are currently under construction, so I think they are posting more at Goldstar. The room I was in was a little noisy from the street below throughout my facial. The receptionist was a very young goth lady who offered me tea, and left me alone. Did not make me feel very welcome or explain what's going on. But then again, she was also not dressed to look very friendly. My aesthetician was pleasant enough, sorry I couldn't spell her name. She did this facial massage that is both relaxing and stressful. The main problem I had with my European Facial was that she kept massaging my eye area with the same force as the rest of my face. She kept pulling and tugging and pressing in the hallowed eye area that EVERYONE knows to treat delicately. This error went on throughout the entire facial! I mean, why do I invest on all these expensive eye products that I carefully pat around my eyes with my weakest finger only to have that same area tortured at Rejouvenance?!! While the facial itself was okay, the extractions were thorough, and the atmosphere was decent (nothing fancy), I simply cannot give this place more than 2 stars. I probably would have given it less, but she was nice and seem to care about my experience. I'm sure my experience would have been better with Yolanda, but she didn't work on me, so that's too bad. I have definitely found my new local spa. I've been testing out places around SF, either near work or home, with eyebrow waxing to find someone to handle all of my waxing. Call me crazy, but I don't like going around showing my crotch to every waxing woman to see if I like them, so I start with the eyebrows. Yolanda and her spa was definitely the first place I have found that I feel comfortable with the location, the cleanliness, and the estatician. Today my boyfriend had a massage and I had a facial. He was not that impressed either negatively or positively by the massage. The facial was marvelous, I highly recommend Yolanda. As Carol L said, she seemed to know a lot about skin and skin care trends. She also cared about making sure that I continue to take care of my skin. She gave me personalized advice for my own skin care regimen and did NOT try to sell me anything (a big plus in my book.) My only disappointment was that the spa didn't have any steam rooms or anything like that for pre treatment papering. Still, Yolanda was very nice about making us tea and making us comfortable. I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have looking at my crotch with a magnifying glass for a half hour. Yolanda is a master of the muff coif. Trust me, she'll have you feeling pre-pubescent in no time flat. All joking aside, she makes you feel comfortable to the point you almost forget you are about to uproot all the hairs in your nether region. She is very gentle, incredibly thorough and genuinely nice. I've been going to her since 2004. Yes, I cheated on her twice but luckily she took me back when I came back, butchered muff coif and all. You will feel like you are visiting a friend instead of a talented esthetician. ****7/17/07**** The new location is awesome. Beautiful, bright and larger than the last place. She has a large waiting room with various teas and chairs to relax in just in case you have to wait. I have never been in there longer than 10 minutes and I see her every 4 weeks. My older sister is getting married this weekend. I think my sister is part elf- she will never look older than 24. Which means that now I look like the old spinster sister. So- I decided to go get the second facial of my life, figuring that if I scour the top layer of my face off, I may be able to achieve something of her youthful glow. Everything about my facial was great. I arrived a little early and sat with a cup of tea for about 5 minutes. They tailored the cleansers and treatments to suit my skin and needs, and I am positively glowing now. Glowing. I was a bit afraid of the microderm abrasion, but it didn't hurt at all, nor is my face red. There was a little street noise, but I live and work in SF- I almost don't hear the sirens anymore. Best part- the spa is about two blocks from my house. I'll definitely be back. read more

So I was pretty nervous to go to Rejouvenance for my first ever Brazilian wax. I had Yolanda and she was wonderful. It was my first time coming here so I'm not sure why Adela got such bad service. Anyhow, Yolanda made me feel really comfortable. The only problem was my appt was on one of those beautiful late HOT summer days in August. The room I was in was pretty warm. That with the combination of hot wax was not good. My only other complaint was that I arrived 15 minutes early for my appt and ended up waiting about 40 total. So that kind of sucked. But I guess things happen. Otherwise I would have given 4 stars! Anyway, Yolanda made me feel better and not think about the not so pleasant procedure. I'd definitely go back there. read more

I just got a Brazilian this afternoon with Veronica and it was as lovely as (a bikini wax) can be! Loved the soothing blue-green ceiling in the treatment room! I made a same day appointment in the morning and Veronica was completely ready to take me right on time. Veronica was a pro and used two different kinds of wax: both the soft wax and the hard wax. Everything was done in 20 minutes, but I definitely felt as though she took her time and did not rush anything. She is also really sweet, and we were able to hold a regular conversation to distract me from the whole waxing process that was happening simultaneously. Everything was great and I would highly recommend Veronica for all of your Brazilian waxing needs! read more

Just a quick update on my favorite salon in all of SF!!! Recently Yolanda added a hair salon to an already awesome salon. The man she hired, Hector, is pure genius. I have trouble finding and keeping hair dressers, but Hector is FANTASTIC! He got my red just right, was contientious, meticulous and I walked out of there feeling like a commercial. I loved Rejouvenance! I got a full body massage from Emily and she was amazing! I believe she just started, but she was so professional and nice! THE ONE who would end my search for good skin in SF. and now, it's 1:24pm on the said tuesday of my rescheduled appointment and i'm in shock. never in a MILLION years would i have thought that you'd call and leave a nonchalant voicemail saying "i'm cancelling your 6pm appointment." SAY WHAT?! "spaweek was over long ago, didn't you know? i'm not accepting any more spa appointments. blah blah.'" again...SAY WHAT?! this is information that would have been useful when i first booked my appointment on your site...where i chose the available SPAWEEK appointment option and even detailed in the comment that i was specifically booking a spaweek make-up appointment. but a full almost ONE MONTH LATER, on the DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, you cancel on me with no other reason besides "i don't do it anymore."?!?!?! DON'T DO WHAT? This place might be great but I'll never know. I can't give zero stars so it gets a one. I had an appointment there recently and when I arrived on the dot, ready to go...it was closed. I ran the bell, called them on the phone, and waited around for a good 20-30 minutes. Nothing. I received no prior notice that they needed to reschedule, no warning, not even an effing smoke signal. Seeing as how I'd turned down other options with friends that day and structured my entire afternoon around making it to this appointment on time, it really really pissed me off that whomever managed this "business" thinks so little of their customers as to completely blow them off. Outrageously disrespectful. Imagine another service business that would try this stunt and hope to stay in business. Go ahead...I'll wait. Much later that night I received a voice message from the spa wherein a very put upon sounding woman sort of apologized and sort of offered to reschedule my appointment citing some personal emergency outside of her control. I assume this was the owner. Maybe I'm a hardass but this simply doesn't cut it in my world. You own a business and want people to trust and transact with you. Despite that, after totally screwing said potential customer over you've got the balls to offer pathetically lame excuses and talk reschedule? Pardon me but...how stupid do you think the public is? Fool me once and all that. My money has no place in your pocket. It will be happier elsewhere. My recommendation to anyone considering this place is to get the owner's cell number and call ahead the morning of your appointment. Otherwise, you might end up wasting your day like I did. the girl at the front that's supposed to greet clients had zero personality and didn't smile - that's automatically minus one star right there the aesthetician was over 15 minutes late to start my microdermabrasion treatment - oh, there goes another star the window in the room was apparently stuck open as a result of their renovations so i had to listen to ridiculously loud street noises, like trucks and motorcycles during my entire facial! - there goes star number three the music they played was the worst music i could ever imagine hearing during a facial - for example, the Sublime song Smoke Two Joints...you know, it goes: I smoke two joints in the morning. I smoke two joints at night. I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, and then I smoke two more - if i could take off any more stars i would! so if this all wasn't bad enough, my aesthetician not only complained several times that her boss puts too many restrictions on her but she RUSHED through the whole thing because she was already running late and made a point of telling me that the next person booked in after me was waiting. then she had the nerver to ask me at the end what i thought of the facial...so i told her - the truth. then she very rudely said, "well that's something you should tell the owner then" and stormed out of the room. so i didn't tip her! if she had shown her face again when i walked out of the room, i would have told her that next time she should ask the client, "what did you think of the facial, and please only answer if you think that it was the best ever". there was nothing relaxing or beautiful about my experience. this place was so unprofessional and the treatment was not worth the full-market price (which i didn't pay but that's beside the point) of $125 - go elsewhere. read more

The owner, Yolanda is truly amazing. She loves what she does and is constantly seeking for improvement. She is very knowledgeable about skins, and know all the latest skin care trends. I have been a loyal customer for 4 years now, and still travel back to her after moving to 1-hr drive away. My favorite treatment is her Rejuvenating deep cleaning facial. My face always looks radiant and feels super clean after wards. Yolanda's waxing skills are top notch. She does my eyebrows meticulously to my preference. This was my first time to Rejouvenance - I went for a microdermabrasion. Ditto Christine's comment on the receptionist - she told me to sit down, and then had to come back and ask my name, since she didn't ask when I arrived. A blonde woman (maybe Yolanda?) came and offered me tea, but by that time I had already helped myself to a glass of water. It seemed like I might have been the first appointment of the day; they were carrying garbage bags through the reception area while I was waiting. My treatment started 10 minutes late, but she went over by 10 minutes, so I wasn't too upset about it. But I was also in the room with the stuck-open window, and I'm not sure why, since I was the only client there at the time. (I know this because when I asked for the restroom, the receptionist pointed in the general direction of several doors, and promptly went downstairs with her trash bag. So I had to open all of the doors to find the right room.) Once I got into the treatment room, they were playing really peppy Brazilian music - nice, but not at all relaxing, particularly with the street noise coming in. The music eventually changed to something more spa-like, and the treatment itself was great - the facial portion lasted so long that I was beginning to think she didn't know I was supposed to have a microdermabrasion. (Since nobody had confirmed what kind of treatment I was having.) She didn't ask about my skin care regimen at all, so she loses points for that. Also, my skin doesn't feel as super-smooth as it usually does after microderm, but overall it was a nice facial. It smells a little like paint due to the remodeling, but that's forgivable. Before checking out this place I read Yelp reviews (as I usually do - thank you Yelpers!) and found that people either rave about the spa or hate it. I was intrigued and made an appointment for facial. As I was on my way, I called them from the car as I needed some help with directions. No, I did not request driving directions, but just wanted to refresh my memory as to which streets were nearby. To my huge surprise the girl who answered the phone did not seem to try to name few streets parallel to Vallejo, so I ended up driving all the way down to the Bay street and then returning back to the correct intersection. It was obvious that I was new to this place, but the receptionist did not warn me that the place had NO business sign. I understand that they are undergoing a remodeling (do not mind it at all!), but it would be nice to warn the new customers about the lack of sign/business logo over the front door. I ended up running around the nearby businesses asking them about the spa I was looking for. Ok, ok, I saw their website, but I just remembered the intersection, not an exact address. I managed to arrive almost on time, though. The place itself is clean and simple. My cosmetician was very pleasant lady, I cannot spell her name, but it sounded like Yukiri, and the music was spa-appropriate, not anything like the previous reviewers complained about. The treatment itself was no longer than 45 min., as I discovered after my appointment (it suppose to be 60, according to the website). Ok, I was about 5 minutes late, and they apologized for not having their sign out due to the remodeling. I cannot rate the quality of my very first microdermabrasion, as I have nothing to compare it with. I can only say that the estetitan was very gentle and thorough, frequently checked with me about my comfort level and was proposing to adjust the machine. That was nice and professional. To my surprise, the microderm. treatment was followed by the full facial, which included steamer, massage (?!) and some quick extractions. Simple logic would suggest to conclude the treatment with some sort of soothing mask. When I expressed my concern to Yukiri, she explained that she followed the microdermabrasion with some additional enzyme exfoliation. Ok, lets give it a benefit of the doubt. I only give this place 4 stars because of Yukiri - she is both, nice and professional. Nothing special about the spa itself. read more

My mom bought me a facial here (never been before). The place is small but relaxing. The staff is very friendly and offered me slippers and a drink immediately. My boyfriend was even able to enjoy the sunroom while playing his DS (so sweet to drive me since city driving is scary haha). The esthetician took her time and explained everything she was doing in a soothing voice. She had a very gentle touch but was able to apply pressure at the appropriate times. I recently went to Rejouvenance for a facial. I was warmly greeted by a woman standing behind the front desk. Another woman, who I later realized was the owner, was also sitting behind the desk. She barely looked up or said hello. She then proceeded to talk to some workers who were doing some maintenance work in the adjoining room. She was clearly agitated and stressed out and moved back and forth between rooms in somewhat of a hurry. She then picked up her purse, said she was leaving and would come back later. She didn't bother to look my way, say goodbye or wish me a good facial. One of the reasons I chose to go to a spa was to relax, calm down and feel pampered. Her agitation and lack of welcome made me feel the opposite. The clarifying facial itself was nice (I don't have a lot of experience with them), but it did not seem worth the $140 they charge for it. Ria, the woman who first greeted me and who performed the facial was very sweet and polite and took care to ask about my skin and any conditions I might have. Overall, it was a good experience (only on account of Ria) but I would probably not go back as I found them to be too expensive for what they offered. read more

The woman who owns this place seems talented. I can vouch that she did a stellar job with my eyebrows, once, and I've never had a bad skin treatment. That said, here are the things I didn't like: (1) don't open your new location if you're not ready, (2) treat your staff kindly, even if you are stressed and things are running behind. I read the review on Hector and I'm sorry someone had a bad experience. I (along with a few of my closest friends) have had the total opposite experience, however, so I felt compelled to submit a review. I started coming to Hector about 6 months ago, mostly for color and trims. He was exceptional on the color front, and then recently, I decided to entrust him with taking me to a shorter cut (for the first time in 15 years!. Hector spent a good amount of time with me in a consultation and then we reviewed some options in a few magazines. He was very sensitive about choosing a style for me that wasn't too extreme, and fit my lifestyle and hair. I was blown away by the end result. A few people have commented that I look about 5 years younger than before. Hector is extremely professional and talented - and I would strongly recommend him to anyone - including all my friends! read more

I have only been once, so don't feel comfortable giving a place 5 stars on 1 experience, but I thought about it! I had a microdermabrasion facial with Yukari, and it was awesome! The place is really adorable and spacious and well-decorated and Victorian and sweet-smelling. But Yukari made my day. She took her time with EVERY step. It felt like I was there for 3 hours. And she actually did go long (I was the last appt of the day). She washed my face, put the steamer on my face, then applied a glycolic peel and enzyme mask, and while that sank in, she gave me an acupressure face massage that was so relaxing and great and slow-paced. Then she washed everything off, did extractions, toned my skin, and went to get the microderm machine. She aksed me about pressure, speed, and temperature every step of the way and explained what she was going to do before doing it. None of it in an annoying way. She really seems to care and want to educate you. Then , you and she can be silent, or if you want to talk, she is a super cool, nice, funny, normal girl. Then the microderm was awesome! She is so detailed and throrough with every step, inclduing this one. I hat it when someone skips a spot, or ignores the edges of you face. She goes over every spot at least twice. The extractions may have been too much, as I had some marks for 1 day, which I don't usually get, but they were minor, and at least it felt like she did something. I agree with Nancy -- no pressure to buy products. Great experience. I would absolutely go back. read more

This is my first yelp ever, but it is definitely worth it. I just walked out of a hot stone massage with Yolanda and I am on cloud nine. So much that I should really be stretching and enjoying, but I needed to share this with everyone. I walked in after sleeping on my neck wrong and having a couple of really intense workout sessions earlier this week. I needed a thorough massage, yet was also stressed and knew that the hot oil and stone massage was supposed to be a very relaxing treatment. I explained my dilemma and Yolanda assured me that it would be both, that she would use the hot stones for relaxation and get into my trouble areas with her hands afterwards if need be. It was so cool! She kept either reheating the stones or the oil, I couldn't tell, so it was always a really warm feeling. The bed was heated as well, which was great because of the cold outside. It was one of the best hours I've ever spent, and probably my favorite massage (I've had tons). I left with a complete euphoria and an unsolicited gift certificate for my best friend.
