I came here because I had lower back pain and I made this clear when I came in. I specifically asked if she would focus on my lower back rather than my arms and legs. After insisting I pay for a more expensive massage, I said no, gave her 80$ and asked her to show me what she could do. She proceeded to give me a full body massage spending only about five minutes on my low back. When she asked me to turn over, I mentioned that my front was fine but my low back still hurt a lot. She told me to go to a doctor. It's two days later and my soreness has disappeared, but I thought I should share her advice with you. If you have back pain, do not go to relax spa. read more

The massage was honestly mediocre. I called ahead and asked for an hour, they said ok we will see you then, then when I got here told me they only had time for 30 mins... then I had to pay and tip ahead of time (they don't accept credit cards FYI) and the lady wouldn't leave the room while I undressed. Then my masseuse was changed halfway through and my neck still hurts. Sorta seems like a place to get a happy ending too. Not sure if I would recommend and definitely not coming back. read more

Good morning. I have seen good to excellent reviews of the services and some of the staff members. I hope that others who have had a good experience will continue to do so. However a word if warning is in order for prospective new customers. Twice in as many consecutive days, I tried to schedule a massage appointment around 6 p.m. on both November 22, and 23, 2021. The fist time by phone, the person who answered acted very impatient with me when I tried to ask more details about services, and schedule my appointment. Without asking for my name or contact information she abrupt said, 'We'll see you then,' and just hung up. The next day after work, I physically visited the establishment. Someone was at the front desk, but with no signs indicating that no one allowed inside, she only got up to speak to me through the glass door. With no greeting, she quickly held up a list of prices and services, asked no questions, and then sat back down at the desk. Puzzled, I rang again to try to ask about the protocol for setting up a massage appointment, in response to which she came once more to the door, glaring, and upon hearing my question, snapped 'No, no!' shaking her head as she sat down again at the desk. At no time did she greet me, or act polite or cordial. She looked and sounded angry, as though I were a nuisance there to make trouble. I myself have never caused problems here, or at any establishment, and I was polite to her both on the phone and in person. It was clear this was the same person I spoke to on the phone the day before. I contacted the office about these incidents, so I hope this is the last time this will happen to anyone. I hope that this person will remember that you do not stay in business by treating your potential customers this way. Until someone who can show respect, patience and common courtesy addresses the public at this establishment, I will never seek services here again. read more

Based on a friend's highly recommended suggestion to see Vivian, I tried Relax Spa at 327 W. Howard St. in Evanston to work out some knots, tightness and soreness around my shoulders, neck and lower back. I've tried many massage stores in the north of Chicago area for many years with mediocre success and had the best massage since I can remember from Vivian at Relax Spa yesterday (4/7/21). She greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel very welcome in the store. Although she is a petite looking massage therapist in her 30s and spoke limited English, her strong massage skills were top notch and made me feel so relaxed and helped loosen all my tightness. She kindly asked me how firm I wanted the massage to be and what area of my body she can concentrate on. The store is really clean, quiet and well maintained and seemed almost new. There is street parking and parking at the Jewel Osco shopping plaza across the street. The massage table was very comfortable and private and the ambiance is very calm, relaxing and Zen like. The cost of a one hour massage is only $65 and $45 for 30 minutes. I opted for the one hour because I needed it and received the full hour of service and was extremely satisfied. She used hot rocks at one point during the massage session which really hit the spot with me on my lower back. The entire place as well as herself seem to practice good Covid cleanliness and safety protocols as all businesses should. Vivian was very attentive to my needs during the session and didn't rush at all. Her technique of slow, deep tissue body massage is really incredible. Her experience exploring and knowing where your muscle and tendon tightness are and continuously working them to loosen them made it a very satisfying experience. I would recommend anyone looking for a good strong massage and wanting to feel relaxed with an enjoyable experience to see her. I will definitely come back and make this a regular routine because I haven't felt this great for a long time after seeing Vivian.
