I go here often but my last experience was horrible, the massage was okay and even when I was already tipping over 15%, the person demanded 20%. Even after increasing my tip to 30%, I was met with a shrug. Will not be going gack. Increase your rates rather than demanding a certain percentage on tip. read more

While visiting Santa Barbara on May 15, 2021 on a girls trip, we walked into Relaxing Station to inquire about the massages that were advertised. We approached the receptionist (didn't get her name) and asked her questions about the massages. While my sister and I were conversing with her, she gestured to the gentleman behind us to come through us and told him that she can help him. She blatantly brushed us off as if our patronage didn't matter. We were still engaging in a conversation and she stopped talking to us and began helping the gentleman. This was a humiliating experience and my sister told her that we will not be coming back to her establishment. I don't know if this is plain rude or ignorance at its best. A friend and I dropped in for an impromptu foot massage on a Saturday night. We were lucky not to have any wait. The chairs are comfy and the towels are very clean. No frills, but a relaxing ambiance and soothing music. Our massage therapists were both very accommodating and we had a fantastic massage. The foot massage started with a dunk of our feet in warm water then reflexology for 40 minutes for $27. They have a flyer with the reflexology points to review. When signing in you select the pressure you prefer. Complimentary water bottles are appreciated. Overall, it was clean, relaxing, and prompt service. I'd return again! read more

This was probably one of the worst massage places I've ever been too. I understand that I am a walk in and they didn't have enough people for to get full body massage 60 minute massage. So I opted for the full body 30 minute massage. My masseuse was named Kevin and he didn't speak English at all. It would be nice to be advised that if your masseuse was a male and you are a female client, you wouldn't be able to take your clothes off and wear the robe. I had no idea and be kept telling me I can't when I was trying to ask him. Keep in mind that it was raining super hard today and my pants and sweater was soaked. The whole time I'm laying down. I was 100% uncomfortable. My sweater kept rubbing against my skin and eventually it got irritated. In addition, I had a turtleneck on and he kept pulling my turtleneck up to avoid touching my neck even though he was wearing gloves..... and he was able to massage my legs and glute... If I knew this was going to happen, I would have left and gone to a different place. The only positive review I could give is the fact that they are super super cheap... but I guess you get what you pay for here. Also- there are no currents here and it is an open area. Went here after a long car ride with an aching back. She seemed to fix me up pretty well but went way short on the time and charged me for a higher price. It is not at all a "relaxing environment" due to the fact it is right on State St and there are no private rooms. However, for the inexpensive pricing it is not too bad and you "get what you pay for." They offer reflexology foot massage, chair massage or full body (clothed) massage in 30 - 90 minute time frames. The prices are very reasonable. It is walk-in only, as they do not take appointments. It can get very busy in the evening hours, so I recommend going during the day to avoid a long wait. If you do encounter a wait, don't fret, it's conveniently located in Downtown Santa Barbara on State Street, so there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and retail stores to peruse whilst killing time. Be advised, if it is loud on State Street the noise will carry into the Relaxing Station. If you truly want to tune out, you might want to bring along your noise canceling head phones. read more

Unfortunately I had the worst massage of all time here. It might be unfair as the few people I went with didn't hate theirs, I just got unlucky. The guy was just tickling my toes the whole time. I asked if he can be a lot stronger and I even asked in Chinese because he didn't speak English, and yet he didn't change anything. And halfway through clearly got tired and went even slower, even less strength. I cannot even imagine how anyone can use less strength. I could not relax and left more tense than before because he was basically just gently stroking me the entire time. I was there with my boyfriend and friends, and my boyfriend didn't do anything. I really should have just walked out after the first ten minutes. During the massage he stopped to catch a fly, and he also coughed on his hands a few times. Great. THIS PLACE IS SOOOO AWESOME. When this place came to State Street with nothing but a sign that sais "Massage" and a bunch of Asian people, I was scared. I thought it was a horror movie coming to life and I judged everyone that I ever saw go inside... until my friends and I went on our day off from life. It turned out to be one of the best things we've ever done for ourselves and we vowed to come back every month. It's a deep tissue massage and don't worry, you can keep your clothes on. They massage you through a towel, unless they can't work out the knot. Then they'll just get to town. I had tons and tons of muscle knots in my neck and back area and as much as it HURT, I think I fell asleep? It was $35 and with tip, I only paid $45 for the most relaxed hour of my life. read more

Recently went here. Selected the full body massage (mind you with clothes on) and they worked strictly in my back side (no roll over). Massage was good. The disturbing issue was when I went to pay. Massage was $35 and I added s $5 tip. I paid for myself and another person so bill was $70 and I added $10. ($5 for each) The guy at the counter told me he needed another $10 because each person was to get a $10 tip! That almost a 30% tip. First, I thought tipping was "optional". If you want $45 for your messages then please post that as your rate. As a customer, I can make a decision if I want to pay that price. In this case, I paid it but not going back and they lost a customer. Service industries should set prices fair and don't expect customers to make it up. I am in a service industry too and don't expect nor do I get tips. It's annoying when businesses set prices low and they bully clientele to pay outrageous tips to make up the difference. read more

My boyfriend and I spent the day in Santa Barbara for his birthday and we happened to come across this massage place. Coincidentally, I had just previously stated that I felt a lot of tension near my left shoulder. Because of the amazing prices, we decided to go in !! I had a full face of makeup on so I didn't think I should do the bed massage since your face is flat down buuuuuuut I probably should have done it anyway because I had to do that in the chair. Haha !! Oh well. It still felt fantastic and I had more control of my head while still being comfortable. You are able to choose a bed or chair massage or a foot massage and they also have a combo massage where you can do body and feet. You can also choose the speed and the pressure which is great because it's truly customizable. The prices are also unbeatable ! Unfortunately, at the beginning of the massage, the guy took off my necklace and I completely forgot about it up until I got home and started taking off my other jewelry. While the necklace is inexpensive, it is one of my absolute favorites so I was really sad. Luckily, I called today and they found it !! Not only that but they shipped it out to me and sent me a photo of the post office receipt. Amazing service and I am so appreciative. A bit disappointing, it just felt like he was cracking my back for 30 mins, then used forearms to stroke. It felt very automatic, no kneading so it didn't work out any knots, he didn't ask if I wanted him to focus on any problem area... at times it was painful on my spine so I had to speak up. Got the Combination body + foot for $35. The foot massage was better, especially if you've been walking up and down State Street. My friend and I were celebrating my birthday down in Santa Barbara last weekend and we really wanted to get massages! We went to another place first and the lady was really rude to us so we left. This place was perfect! And a lot cheaper than the place we were going to go. I've had a lot of massages and this one was for sure one of the best ones! I was very skeptical at first because you stay clothed and it was just not the normal environment for a massage. But I was for sure proven wrong. We waited less than 5 minutes to be put at a table. You put your stuff under the massage table and lay on top. Face down the whole time. We did the 60 minute full body massage. I was so surprised at how relaxing it was! I honestly was not expecting my massage to be as incredible as it was. And it's not like other places where they use waaaay too much pressure. This place is just right. And they make sure to ask if they are using too much pressure or if you are alright. After the massage was over, or so I thought, they sit you up and rub your shoulders, neck, and back for another 3-5 minutes and then you pay! Such a relaxing break for my friend and I. She also enjoyed her massage. We talked about it the rest of the day. The cost of our massage was $35 and then I tipped $15. I would 100% recommend trying this place out. I went to SB with my girls for a weekend trip, and we stumbled upon this gem after biking along the beach. Let's just say it was a lifesaver. The ambiance was nice-- lots of open space and soothing music. I went for the 60 minute combination massage and came out of it feeling like mush. I spent a total of 30 minutes on the table where they massaged my shoulders, back, and lower area-- then another 30 minutes on the chair where they massaged my sore legs and feet. They didn't give us a change of clothes and just put towels over our clothes. It didn't bother me too much since I just wanted to have a quick in and out. The front desk is empty but, there's a screen that lets you know how long the wait is going to be...so be patient. Your first glance of the massage options will make your head spin because you can get an hour massage for $35 bucks! You can get the full body, combo (foot/body) or just foot and they are all the same price for an hour. What a deal. I opted for the full body and went with level 5 (out of 8) and it was more than enough pressure. My therapist worked in traditional Thai therapy as she walked all over my body and it was glorious. We love foot massages and the combination (30 min foot & 30 min body) did the trick. The foot massage was incredible and they gave the right amount of pressure on the body massage. I've been going here for years. I always call it the fast food of massage since it's inexpensive and no frills. I was skeptical at first about getting a massage with all my clothes on, but I've always had excellent massages here. I removed two stars, however, due to my last two experiences. My main complaint is that they now force you to give a 20% tip. I wrote down my 18% tip, and the guy who gave me the massage, called a woman over who sternly said, "Lady," then crossed out my tip and added what she wanted me to tip, which was actuallly more than 20% because she rounded up. I was too stunned to say anything. Plus, I didn't feel like arguing in a quiet place with a woman who didn't speak English. I thought the first time might have been some weird fluke, but it just happened again. My other complaint is that they play some gentle, inoffensive music, but in the evening there is loud music being performed on State St., so it's very irritating hearing two types of music simultaneously. They should just turn off their music when there is loud music on the street. I'll still go there since it's the cheapest massage in town, and the massages are good, but just be aware that it's no frills and you'll have to give a 20% tip.(Is that even legal?) read more

Before this place opened up, I never really went for massages. Mainly because of the discomfort of having to remove my clothes and being in a dark room.
