I love matcha and black sesame flavored anything, so I can't resist getting a drink and some ice cream from ReLeaf whenever I visit Mitsuwa. Their hard ice cream (I can't speak for their soft serve) is very high quality and their sundaes are both tasty and visually stunning. I've never had their cold drinks, but their hot drinks are to die for. A lot of big coffee chains (e.g. Starbucks, Peets) add strange things to their matcha lattes, like icing/frosting, or put in a poor ratio of match to water/milk. You can depend on ReLeaf to get everything right. Recently, I tried the match-azuki latte; and although I was very hesitant at first because I'm not a huge fan of azuki beans, it was absolutely, unbelievably, out-of-this-world delicious. One of the best drinks I've ever had in my life. I went back and asked the barista if he could tell me how I could make it at home, since I live over the border in Wisconsin and don't get to Mitsuwa all that often; and although he could have refused, he gave me all the information I needed (hint: put a small spoonful of sweetened azuki paste in with your latte. Not too much or it'll be disgusting!). I hope they add a black sesame latte to their menu someday! read more

Great way to top off your meal at the Mitsuwa food court! The matcha soft serve is VERY intensely flavored with matcha and may even interfere with your sleep due to the caffeine content, so if that bothers you, get the matcha/vanilla swirl instead. The soft serve cones are small but enough to make a lovely little dessert without breaking the calorie bank. This place also serves ice cream by the scoop in the traditional Japanese flavors (mango, lychee, matcha, black sesame) as well as a few chocolate-based flavors. Grabbed a cup of taro milk tea, so good. The sweetness is just right with rich taro milk flavors. I'm going to have to try the iced matcha and matcha parfait and matcha soft serve next. I have gotten a few of their different parfaits and everyone has been to die for! Chocolate definitely stands its own ground against the famous matcha parfait so give it a try. Soft serve and ice cream is also tasty with some unique variety in flavors. Also nice to note that they do accept cards card, where most places in the food court do not. Releaf defiantly is my go to place for bubble tea. The workers there are very kind and chill. My favorite drinks to order there are all milk tea based. If you like earl gray, I strongly recommend the Earl gray milk tea boba. Also the lavender milk tea boba is fantastic too. for only $2 you can get a cup of ice cream. they give you two nice hefty scoops. i actually asked for 2 different flavored scoops (mango and lychee, best combination everrrr!) and expected to pay extra, but i did not and was very pleased. Was just walking around in Mitsuwa when I saw this and had to try it since I absolutely love matcha. The soft serve machine was broken and they mentioned that it had been like that for a month already (how can it still not be fixed!?!). That definitely made a difference on the azuki float that I had. My friend enjoyed his mango matcha milkshake though. It was also kind of pricey but that's to be expected with matcha being "in" right now. read more

I have never seen a food court so popular but I guess Mitsuwa is a natural draw. I stopped by Mitsuwa just to try ReLeaf's green tea soft serve but it was not meant to be. A note on the counter that said the soft serve machine was broken. Green tea ice cream was an option but I came for the soft serve!! I called later to ask when the machine would be fixed. Careful. I FREQUENTLY get shortchanged here. The portion and quality control is extremely inconsistent, so much that there appears to be two sizes when you order the soft serve. You can be given half the amount, but charged the same. Customer service is very poor. When I asked about it, one of the employees called me stupid and greedy, sending me nasty messages online, instead of handling it professionally. The owner allowed this, ignoring the question and therefore encouraging the behavior. All this made a small matter much worse. Anyone who has ever worked at an ice cream place knows the pours can differ wildly if employees aren't taught to do it the same way every time. When I order, I always ask for a large soft serve in a cup. They will often pour a sparse amount into a small cone, and when I tell them I asked for a large in a cup, they turn the cone upside down into a cup. Even when I pointed that out to the young manager, (a young man in his 20s, that the cup is now only half full, because the cone wasn't filled all the way, he refused to correct the mistake, insisted it was the same and charged me for a regular serving when I was only given a half serving. Because there is latticework at the bottom of their cones, the rest of the ice cream is not in the cone. It does not fill completely, the way it would in a waffle cone. I found out later that there is only one size, but it would have helped to have been told that when I ordered. Because there is such a difference in the way it's poured, the company appears to be dishonest (even if it was a mistake). You can see for yourself in the photos I'm attaching. All a business has to do is put itself in the shoes of a paying customer instead of assuming a customer is being greedy or doing something stupid like attacking a customer online. The way this company handled the issue was unprofessional and uncalled for, which is why I was forced to write this review. read more

I heard their Parfaits and Matcha Soft Serves are wonderful, but I haven't been able to try them yet. I was looking for something simple today, so I tried the regular scoops of Ice Cream(#21). They allowed for two scoops therefore I had the strawberry and the green tea. One word: Delicious! The texture is rich and creamy. It was only $2.22 with tax, I say it is fair pay(cheaper than Scoops). This is honestly a good ice cream place if you are looking for cheap cold desserts. I am looking forward to visiting this place again for some of their other highly recommended things. read more

The red bean ice cream is the closest thing I've had in the states to what I used to eat daily when I was in China. SO freaking good!
