So, I'm kind of an idiot. It's Sunday evening. I parked my car in a shopping plaza, turned off the radio, and hopped out of the car, locking the car door as I shut it. And I'm walking towards the store patting my pockets to find my wallet and phone where they should be, but where are my keys? Of course, I left them in the car. Wait, are they still in the ignition? Is my car still on?? Yes, and yes. Should I get a ride back home 30 minutes away to get my spare key? But how do I get into my apartment when my apartment key is locked in the car with the car key? Do I ask the apartment manager for a spare key after hours and pay a fee for that? Get back in like 2 hours with the car running the whole time? Ugh, I can't believe I screwed up this badly. I actually called another business first while my girlfriend called this one. But I got a voicemail message while she got a quote for $100 and ETA of about 15 minutes over the phone, so that was an easy choice. The guy shows up right on time, shakes my hand, grabs his equipment with his partner (dad?), and has the car window down and then the car door open in minutes. I doubt I could have even picked up my spare key from home in that time. He accepted credit card which was great since I didn't have much cash on me. He also mentioned that since this is emergency roadside assistance, most insurance companies will reimburse the cost of the fees, though in my case, my coverage level with Esurance doesn't include it. That's okay. $100 is very reasonable for the half hour resolution and relief that he was able to provide. I'm not sure if it's a great rate compared to other businesses, but it definitely seemed like it could have cost me a lot more out of pocket. TLDR; Incredibly professional, clear communication, friendly service, and fast resolution. Exactly what I needed. read more
