Bay Area locksmith/ JD Locksmith is grossly incompetent and irresponsible. They sent an unqualified kid, Eric, to unlock my house door yesterday. The kid struggled but did not know how to unlock my door. He then tried to work on windows and screen doors and failed. ( A 2nd red flag that I should not have overlooked! ). An hour wasted before he offered to install new locks by destroying the original as that was the only way he can open door and tag on more fees. After the install, I forgot to check the new keys/ lock until this morning. What a joke! I now know that I was given a wrong set of keys as these won't open the new door lock! I called and texted Bay Area Locksmith and JD Locksmith for help but they remain unresponsive. And instead of owning up to his own ignorance, Eric texted that I did something which explains why the key won't open the door. Really?! Mind you, I'm glad I've access to my place yesterday. But Eric underperformed at the job that he was paid to do- as I still cannot open my door! Be warned. 1-Star Review - Bay Area Locksmith I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I was charged $665 for an ignition replacement. During follow-up communication, the technician could not consistently identify the company name when asked, which was concerning. After the service, the vehicle would not start or crank at all. I contacted them immediately and was repeatedly told the issue was not related to their work and that it must be a mechanical problem. Because the car was inoperable, I had to pay for a tow and take it to a licensed mechanic, who confirmed the ignition had been installed incorrectly. The mechanic corrected the installation, and the vehicle started immediately afterward. Despite this confirmation and the additional costs I incurred due to the improper installation, the company is refusing to issue a refund for the incomplete and faulty service. This was not a minor issue--the vehicle was completely unusable after they left. This is my 3rd revised reviews for my prior positive review with 5 star rating. My 1st prior review was a negative with one star rating. As soon as I posted my review with 1 star rating, the locksmith called me immediately and asked me to rewrite my review with a 5 star rating offering me to refund my money $200 for replacing my entry door. I didn't have time to call another locksmith because I was about to leave for my my doctor's appointment and I have to lock my door. I'm a 79 year old woman living on my limited income. This locksmith ripped me off charging me $200. I didn't have a choice because my doctor's appointment would be late. Therefore, I didn't have a choice but paid them. After I came back from my doctor's appointment, I posted a negative with one star for their unethical business practice. As soon as after I posted my negative review, the owner of the called me immediately asking me to remove my Review, and then asked me to rewrite a positive review offering me to refund my money $200. I'm a 79 year old woman living on my limited budget. $200 would cover my one month groceries. Wanting the refund I agreed to rewrite a positive review on Yelp with 5 stars. As soon as my review was posted on yelp, the owner of the locksmith called me saying to remove my negative review and rewrite with a 5 star review. He offered to give me a full refund. I'm 79, living on my limited budget. $200 is alot of money for me. The locksmith said they gave a credit. I thought that they credited into my credit card. No, I remember they didn't know my credit card number and how could they credit? But I didn't know that the refund they gave me was their STORE CREDIT. Unbelievable! Awful! I had to call and make sure there was still an appointment then they were late by 2.5hrs! Worse is that they didn't even complete the work as requested I'm writing before they took the job. The request is to activate the electronic key pad with the WiFi modules but all they did was install the hardware then charged me an outrageous amount for something I could have done myself! He thought he could save it with the right parts back at the shop. He put a temporary lock in and worked at the shop until evening. He brought the whole thing back and reinstalled it in my door. It was a beautiful job. The best part about Ed is he looked like Jimmy Garopolo the 49er quarterback! Ed made the touchdown for us! read more

Great communication and service from Mike. I was unable to get my key out of the lock when I arrived home late-ish this evening. My call was answered promptly by the office and Mike arrived about 25 minutes later, just as he estimated. Price seemed reasonable, considering the late-night "emergency" service. Unfortunately, it looks like the lock will need to be replaced. If it's not something my apartment complex will handle, then I will definitely be calling Bay Area Locksmith to take care of it. read more

WOW is all I can say about this company!! I called and needed someone to come out and take a look at the front door lock. I was having trouble with the key constantly getting stuck and front door lock not functioning correctly. They sent out locksmith named Mike and he was able to come out within thirty minutes. Moshe rose up to the occasion to fix our door lock on Easter Sunday. Communication and service is excellent. Highly recommended

I needed a new front door set that I had purchased at Home Depot installed. I was given a time that worked well at a cost of $125 for installation so I agreed to the service. The locksmith let me know that the new sets were slightly larger. Although the set was a perfect fit, the deadbolt was longer and the locksmith had to drill a bit and it would cost $175. At that point, the old door set was disassembled and all over the floor. I questioned it several times, not understanding why the service then became a "fresh" install but I would still have to pay the $125 for an install. I didn't feel like I had any option at that point since the door no longer had any handles or locks. The drilling took less than 5 minutes. I still questioned the extra charge, saying I would understand if the fee was $175 instead of $125 but didn't get a satisfactory response. After the locksmith left, we realized the lock was not completely locking. I talked to the locksmith who said he would have to drill into the wall to make it fit as the deadbolt was longer than the frame. I didn't want him to return so I then called a handyman, who spent about 2 minutes to expand the circumference but the length was not an issue. So, in essence, I felt it was a bait and switch. I should have been told the price before disassembly or charged for one type of installation, not two. I finally was able to speak to someone at Bay Area Locksmith, who told me I needed to talk with the locksmith. The service was completed but not as it should have been. However, my real dissatisfaction came from being what I felt to be charged for two installations when there was actually only one door set installed. I could have had a licensed contractor do the job for $150 but I thought a locksmith for $125 seemed like a reasonable choice. I clearly made the wrong decision. For this type of service, I would never use or recommend this company or Buddy's Locksmith that I initially requested the service from. The receipt had no company name on it so I requested another receipt and it came from Bay Area Locksmith. No one from Buddy's Locksmith would return my call.
