They are dishonest when it comes to their "Hero Club." The prices for service and parts are marked up so they can give you a "discount" with the Hero Club, where you pay around $20 monthly for regular servicing. It's a month to month service that you can supposedly cancel at any time. What is never communicated is that if your financial situation changes or you sell the house before the year is out, they will make you pay the amount they discounted. This is never explained and there are no terms/conditions/explanations of the program in writing to refer to or understand what you're agreeing to. The tech also had no firm grasp of the program or any of the fine print. Appalling bait and switch. read more

I asked Richard the supervisor of the call center to have someone that is an authority and decision maker with Reliant to call me back. He has not and it has been three days. I'm convinced that Richard needs retraining and he is the reason that messages left on the message center (3 messages in 3 days) are not returned. No one answers the phone when you call, on hold for 10 minutes or more. And, he is the reason that Reliant is losing customers, because he does not care if you leave. A bit disappointed!!! Around July of '22, we decided to have a new HVAC system installed at our home. At first the AC worked fine, but then we needed the heat and it wouldn't come on. Called Reliant and they sent technicians over three times to try and pinpoint the problem. FINALLY, they sent Francisco over and he was able to solve the problem within 20 minutes. Top notch tech. However, due to some possible wiring changes in the unit, I was told that a new wiring harness would be ordered and I specifically requested Francisco to do the work. After a few days, I called Reliant to check on the status and was told no harness had been ordered and that everything was fine. They ordered the harness, and I am still waiting on the work to be completed. Just a little frustrated at this since it is a 10k price tag on a brand new Lennox unit. Very trustworthy. Had them come out after the quote for repairs from another company seemed sketchy. Was not low on coolant & did not have a leak, as I was previously told. The one thing that both companies said that would need to be replaced was the capacitor, and Reliant charged me less for it. Horacio did a great job. read more

Id give 0 stars if that was an option. The website says 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed, im here to tell you thats 100% bulls***. This company could care less about the consumer. My home is D R Horton an upon my 11 month inspection reliant hvac (whom are contracted with dr horton) came to fix a request under warranty. Upon the tech fixing that request as soon as he left i noticed an issue that i did NOT have prior to him coming i immediately texted the service number asking could he come back but did not hear back until the next day. A new tech came to look at this issue and told me he couldn't do much but he wld try, after this tech left i noticed that my home was now taking significantly longer to cool down, again, this had NEVER happened prior to him coming. I called a few days later and was informed that i would be charged $99 for a fee because they "keep coming for the same issue" which is bs. These were things that happened AFTER their technicians left my home. If a company causes a problem they should pay for it not the consumer. I spoke with the customer service manager, candace, who told me she "understood" but in the same breath also told me i could utilize another company which i felt was VERY rude. She kept claiming to "understand" but made it clear that reliant hvac company's primary concern is THEIR business, not the consumer. She said she could not and would not send a tech to my home for free . So they're ok with messing up the air conditioner in your home but expect you to pay for it even though you did nothing wrong. So if they cause some sort of issue, understand YOU will pay for it. The best Candace offered me was $40 off the fee which she made sure to remind me she wasn't legally obligated to do so which was also rude. I decided to pass out of fear because I honestly felt if another reliant hvac tech came to my home they'd purposely sabotage my air unit. Ultimately i found another company that had excellent customer service and fixed my issue with no problem. I really hope D R Horton terminates their contract with this company so that other residents don't have to undergo such brutal mistreatment. read more

Our AC was shot. Most companies would have sold us a new unit. Bobby took his time examining our unit and informed me that a new coil would solve our issues. The $2600 coil would save us approximately $5000. We were upset that we owed this much but relieved that it wasn't an $8000 new unit. Bobby set us up with zero interest financing and we signed an agreement. I was absolutely AMAZED the next morning when Bobby called to inform me that he had discovered a warranty on our coil and that we would only owe for installation! Like most people, I don't know much about AC systems so I have to find a trustworthy company. It doesn't get anymore honest than Reliant! I am so thankful. read more

What a great experience! We had our old AC unit replaced -- something we knew was necessary but had been dreading due to the cost. John came out to take a look and quoted us a super reasonable price to replace- even made sure to try to find the best deal for me! And today Gabriel came and replaced everything, walked us through the new units, and answered all of our questions. I think he may have actually left my house cleaner than it was when he got here too! Had my ac system installed by this reliant only to find out my brand new ac system has refrigerant line leak due to poor installation. I called and let the company know of my situation. Not only would they not come to inspect they unit they installed without charging me a fee, they gave me an outrageous quote to repair the leak they claimed they are not sure even existed per the quote. I had 4 other companies tell me there was a leak in the line but the Reliant the that installed the product wants me to pay $500 for an isolation test to figure out if a leak even exists. I wasn't expecting them to be accountable for their faulty work but I also wasn't expecting them to gauge me for everything considering I used reliant for the install. Do your research and hire a company that does quality work and stands by their work. read more

Had a good experience with Reliant replacing our 20 year old AC Unit. There were a couple minor hiccups that were addressed quickly. What the techs lacked in communication the day of install, they made up for with a nice clean and pro install and they worked very hard on a very hot day and got it done in one day, cleaned up the job decently and the place is cool and the unit is very quiet! Salesman was great, no nonsense, didn't waste hours putting together a quote and they came in quite a bit lower than 2 other companies. Have another unit to replace and will go with Reliant, they did a very good job overall, would recommend. read more

Reliant isn't so reliant. Our unit was out for over a week because they said they had to order a compressor but when they finally came to install it, they couldn't get it up and running again. Took almost a week to get another technician out who actually knew what he was doing, and he found a loose wire. We don't believe the compressor was ever bad, but it was a loose wire from the beginning. The unit is only 5 yrs old. Also, no one can call us to give us a window of their arrival. Instead, they tell you to call them to find out when they're coming. Grrrrr. read more

Four years ago, April 18,, I had Reliant install a two stage central AC / heat pump in my house. Yesterday I paid another company come check it because it just wasn't cooling. They found the AC was installed incorrectly and had be running only on the lower first stage all this time, so my unit only ever ran at 70 percent capacity and wasting electricity. I called reliant and they had nothing to say, did not pay for the repairs. The issue was the wiring. They had never wired the 2nd stage and instead clipped off the wire for it. read more

Reliant installed our system and worked on it twice in the last 2 years. We just had them come out yesterday because system stopped cooling, technician was pleasant and punctual . They charged us $99 for diagnostics then they charged us another $175 to find the leak, which I did agree too, though I initially assumed a general diagnosis would also include finding a leak. Then they charge us $840 for 6lbs ($140 a pound) of refrigerant! Looked online and cost of our type of refrigerant (R-410a) is about $30 a pound. The system is working currently but are not happy with what we were charged at all. We will not use Reliant going forward. read more

I tried to give Reliant another chance after they fixed their screw up that left me without A/C for 2 weeks in late June. However, I am here to say that I am done with them. After jerking me around (incompetent seasonal servicing that failed to detect what another A/C tech found within 5 minutes, along with a totally botched parts order that elongated the repair and the time I went without working A/C unit), I came to find out that they raised my seasonal service contract rate WITHOUT INFORMING ME! They just took the money out of my account like I would not notice (and a 50% increase at that). You would think that 1) they would tell people about the cost increase before taking the money, and 2) after how they messed over me I would have thought that should have garnered me some goodwill in terms of the increase. No on both counts. So when I called about the charge to my account (which is when I first heard about the increased cost) I told them that I was not willing to give them more money when I wasn't getting what I should have from the lesser amount I had been paying. They assured me (relative term with these folks) they would put my cancellation through and refund the money. Well, apparently the woman who oversees the seasonal service club knew I wanted the contract cancelled but didn't realize I wanted my $360 refunded. This sounds SO MUCH like this outfit. Just now I was told in order to get my refund I had to pay a balance due I had of $.40. Yes, that's right. These clowns would not refund me my money until I authorized them to charge my card for $.40! Anyone out there considering these fools - RUN! Run and don't look back. It may not be detectable at first, but they will put you in a bind before all is said and done. read more

Have an inspection contract I just cancelled. I was told I needed an evaporator coil and condensor. The coil was under 10 year warranty until this inspection. got a second opinion and they did not find anything. the other company told me I needed a capacitor and something else each $3-4 hundred. In sales work with Jason Everett. Our favorite tech is Joe Allen. He always does a fantastic job taking care of us on our fall and spring maintenance, plus on any other issues that might come up. The service technicians do not work on commission, and it is truly amazing how we never seem to hear we need to have something expensive replaced every time they come out. I've left several messages with the after hours service since earlier this evening and have yet to get a phone call scheduling an AC repair. Mind you, this is the THIRD time our AC has broken in the last 3 weeks. Based on reviews we went with Reliant when our old system went out. They were quick to come out with a quote and we were scheduled to get our unit replaced. Got new unit in june 2018 and as of today this is the 8th time the system has gone out for one reason or the other. The unit has been replaced, coils have been replaced, and the last time a leak was identified and plugged up which was supposed to finally fix things and here we are with no working unit. Customer service: STINKS!!! They take their tine to return calls. We often have to call multiple times to get someone. We have emailed management with absolutely no response. We left a message for David Ripley , the customer service manager and he never returned the call. The emergency line never sends anyone out and we are often scheduled days out. It is 100 degrees in Texas. That is UNACCEPTABLE!! It is UNACCEPTABLE to have a new unit with this many problems. Either the system is bad or your staff is incompetent. Either way something needs to be done. We have taken enough days off work to have enjoyed a 2 week vacation. At this point, we are hot, have been inconvenienced, and are really sick of this issue and would like it resolved immediately. If you can not install the unit correctly or replace it with a new working unit you need to refund our money so we can use a company that can effectively install a unit or significantly conpensate us for the 2 months of frustration we have dealt with!!! We have had more issues with this new unit in 2 months then we had for the entire life of the old unit. There is nothing worse than having a company where you can not reach management or leadership. There is no information on your site to reach any key people. No emails, no numbers, no list of who owns the company or managers. I guess that is a warning sign!!! read more

I'm finally finishing my taxes for 2015...I know, it's the last minute, but it couldn't be helped. Anyway, I was reviewing all of my information for taxes and thought that I would share this update with you. As you know, prior to changing my systems, my high electric bill was $948. Last year my highest bill was only $384. And more importantly, as I look at the monthly charges, almost every month is lower. We turn the A/C on in early spring, I like it cold, 68 in my bedroom at might and 72 in the house when I'm home, and keep it on late in the fall. Don't forget that includes keeping a winecellar chilled at 64 degrees year round. Anyway, every time I look at my electric bill, I fall in love with my A/C system all over again. If there were a way to take stars away from this company I would. They undersized my unit, had one of their higher up specialists come out for an evaluation and confirmed the house should have a 1 ton larger system, and they have done nothing. 9 other contractors have come to my residence to inspect the system and have found no mechanical faults other than it simply cannot move enough air and some ducts were run in a cost saving maneuver. A city inspector also confirmed what others had concluded. In speaking with a manager there and their VP, they are eager to discredit their own staff to avoid their shortfalls as a contractor and I recommend you check elsewhere for second quotes before having any replacement or service work performed. Some of the techs they have are knowledgable, while others will be on their cell phones asking how to work on your unit. All issues aside, any company that cuts corners and discredits their own employees to save a buck and short the customer is one to be cautious with. Your mileage may vary, but I've had to become educated in home HVAC systems because of the lies and deceitful practices of this company. Many other home owners in my neighborhood have also had similar dealings with Reliant. And because the A/C industry is so slippery on what they can do or get away with, it's hard to know who you can trust. You would be hard pressed to find a more untrustworthy company than this one here. They even have had many class action lawsuits brought against them as I've researched online. Google is your friend and in retrospect, you can't always trust these companies to do the "right" thing any longer. read more

EDIT to my first review from 2012. 2015 EDIT: *** OK, we had to use Reliant AC again, and again, they made it out same day, BIG KUDOS... BUT BUT BUT... it seems like the company has it's techs acting more like salesman... the tech kept pushing the 'membership' savings, etc... then when looking at their brochure, they have stuff priced TWICE as much as you can find it online! What? C'mon, I know it's common practice to do this, but geez, do they not know we can look up things like, an Attic Tent which is $180 on Amazon, and Reliant wants $360.45?!?!?!? I had to get a new blower motor ordered, it would have been $655. I got a 2nd opinion and only ended up paying $420 for the blower motor AND a capacitor! I'll not depend on this company anymore and are deducting two stars due to this recent visit. -------------------------------------- (2012) THE BEST. Here is why. --------- 1. They were second to quote us during one visit when our AC was out. We were pleased that their technician knew exactly what to fix and for only $60... the prior company tried to tell us we needed an entirely NEW $5000 AC SYSTEM! 2. Our home warranty company suggested a different AC company who never did call us back. One call to Reliant and they had a tech on the way, AND ON A SUNDAY! What is the point of paying for a maintenance program if they can't ever get a Tech to show up? Twice now I've waited around all day for a tech to show up and do a simple tune-up call only to find out that they are not showing up that day. No one calls me, no one texts me, it's just a free for all type of attitude. We live in the 21st century, we have Cell phones, Lan Line phones, Texting, E-mail etc...and yet this company does not know how to reach out to its customers and let them know ANYTHING!!!! My suggestion is that you put all your customer service employees through basic training. Teach them that they are to reach out to customers and keep them in the loop as to schedule changes, cancellations etc.. It should NOT be the responsibility of the customer to wait all day, call you at 4:00 PM to find out that your tech called in sick!! I make $55 Per hr, so what makes you think I want to sit here waiting for no one to show up and no one to contact me and let me know ANYTHING? This company offers a "Hero Club". I would not sign up for this because it really should be called a "Zero Club". You receive no special treatment for paying them a Yearly fee regardless of what they advertise. We bought a house and the AC quit within three days, in July, in Texas. The first company we called (A#1) charged us $39 to tell us we needed a whole new system to the tune of $7,500. We had just had the house inspected when we bought it, so we were skeptical. Reliant came out after hours, got it running, and kept coming out (without charging us for additional service calls) until they got to the bottom of it, and stuck by us until the cause of the problem was corrected. Nobody at Reliant ever tried to sell us something we didn't need. The managers, David Ripley and Terry Neden are great. They fixed a difficult problem without ever suggesting we buy a new unit. Because we didn't need one! Angie, Luis, John & Michael have all earned our business for Reliant. We won't look anywhere else for HVAC service. EVER. read more

My argument w them is that we select tech Fransisco n waited to match schedule. Hence waiting 20+days. If reschedule w another tech, then why not an earlier visit. Minor issue. However, scheduling is tight for visit - early better due to kid care. Pushing to end of schedule limit doesn't work at all bcuz they never meet schedule especially at end of day. Unsafe and not acceptable. Other major issue is no communication. We had to call about status and then was told about the changes. So they didn't record the requirement n just only set a visit. Not how you treat a customer nor a customer referral. They were better. read more

I have a maintenance contract with Reliant that I will be canceling. My ac went out yesterday and I made an appt for a technician to come out today at 9 am. It is now 4 pm and I have called every hour on the hour and no one can give me the decency to at least call me back. I will not be giving them any more of my $! We haven't had less than a 100% satisfactory experience and now cannot get Evan Hernandez, the call center lead, to return emails or phone calls. The Reliant technician came out to our home in May and incorrectly diagnosed the problem with the condensation line for our air conditioning unit. When reattaching the line to the sink drain upstairs, he failed to completely tighten it and we had a significant water leak. My 91 year old grandmother was staying with us the weekend after this happened and luckily identified the leak. She was up and down all night making sure to empty a container she placed under the sink to prevent further damages. The rear portion of the bottom of the cabinet has separated from the back of the cabinet. The grout is popping in the floor tile and the subfloor just outside of the bathroom is noticeably swollen. The leak and underlying issue with the drainage are now fixed (not by Reliant) but the cosmetic and potentially structural issues caused by the leak have not. The last correspondence we had with Evan was in early August. He assured us this was being reviewed and he would be available should we have any questions. I've emailed him 3 times and left two voicemails in the last two weeks and have not gotten a response. read more
