What is the point of paying for a maintenance program if they can't ever get a Tech to show up? Twice now I've waited around all day for a tech to show up and do a simple tune-up call only to find out that they are not showing up that day. No one calls me, no one texts me, it's just a free for all type of attitude. We live in the 21st century, we have Cell phones, Lan Line phones, Texting, E-mail etc...and yet this company does not know how to reach out to its customers and let them know ANYTHING!!!! My suggestion is that you put all your customer service employees through basic training. Teach them that they are to reach out to customers and keep them in the loop as to schedule changes, cancellations etc.. It should NOT be the responsibility of the customer to wait all day, call you at 4:00 PM to find out that your tech called in sick!! I make $55 Per hr, so what makes you think I want to sit here waiting for no one to show up and no one to contact me and let me know ANYTHING? This company offers a "Hero Club". I would not sign up for this because it really should be called a "Zero Club". You receive no special treatment for paying them a Yearly fee regardless of what they advertise. My argument w them is that we select tech Fransisco n waited to match schedule. Hence waiting 20+days. If reschedule w another tech, then why not an earlier visit. Minor issue. However, scheduling is tight for visit - early better due to kid care. Pushing to end of schedule limit doesn't work at all bcuz they never meet schedule especially at end of day. Unsafe and not acceptable. Other major issue is no communication. We had to call about status and then was told about the changes. So they didn't record the requirement n just only set a visit. Not how you treat a customer nor a customer referral. They were better. read more

I have a maintenance contract with Reliant that I will be canceling. My ac went out yesterday and I made an appt for a technician to come out today at 9 am. It is now 4 pm and I have called every hour on the hour and no one can give me the decency to at least call me back. I will not be giving them any more of my $! We haven't had less than a 100% satisfactory experience and now cannot get Evan Hernandez, the call center lead, to return emails or phone calls. The Reliant technician came out to our home in May and incorrectly diagnosed the problem with the condensation line for our air conditioning unit. When reattaching the line to the sink drain upstairs, he failed to completely tighten it and we had a significant water leak. My 91 year old grandmother was staying with us the weekend after this happened and luckily identified the leak. She was up and down all night making sure to empty a container she placed under the sink to prevent further damages. The rear portion of the bottom of the cabinet has separated from the back of the cabinet. The grout is popping in the floor tile and the subfloor just outside of the bathroom is noticeably swollen. The leak and underlying issue with the drainage are now fixed (not by Reliant) but the cosmetic and potentially structural issues caused by the leak have not. The last correspondence we had with Evan was in early August. He assured us this was being reviewed and he would be available should we have any questions. I've emailed him 3 times and left two voicemails in the last two weeks and have not gotten a response. read more

Their technician Jeremy had to make 3 visits to our house to fix damage done by a Nest thermostat provided to us by our energy provider (Reliant Energy, coincidentally named but not related to Reliant AC). He really impressed me with his knowledge and efficiency, and he gave me the information I needed to get the Nest thermostat people and the energy provider to pay for the repairs. (Which they did! Surprise!) I highly recommend this company. I do not recommend Nest thermostats, at least not for older homes like mine. read more

Reliant Air Conditioning came to my house in 2016 to do my spring check up and the technician told me I had a leak and needed to replace my coil, which was going to cost me about $1,500. Their advertising claim is their technicians are not paid commission and therefore there is no incentive for them to "find" a problem. Since I was not having issues with the system cooling properly, I got a second opinion and was alarmed to find there was no leak. It is now 3 years later and my system is working fine. DO NOT TRUST RELIANT AIR CONDITIONING!!!!! read more

We had a great experience with Reliant Air Conditioning in March 2018. We had two other companies come out and Reliant had the best solution. They replaced both our upstairs and downstairs units. One of the other companies offered a slightly lower price, but did not address the actual problem we had of keeping the upstairs cool. Reliant installed new intake registers in a couple of the bedrooms and installed a better A/C unit for a small amount more. We have been through 3 summers now and the upstairs is considerably better. We highly recommend them. My sister and a neighbor have used them since we did and have been happy as well. read more

I have a 3 year old unit and Reliant has been to my house at least a dozen times and the problem has never been fixed correctly. The issues have no lead to the heat exchanger cracking. Even the manufacture has stated that this unit is not how it should be. They lied multiple times about where the technician was and when he would be out. The ended up replacing the whole furnace and then charged me for the labor even though it was caused by them. The service manager tried to speak to me like I was an idiot, when in all honest I know more about HVAC systems than he does. read more

Purchased an new unit from Reliant to replace the original builder grade system after 18 years (I've lived here for 10 of those years). The old system still worked but after having to replace the outside fan after it fell apart, and seeing a gradual increase the energy consumed to keep the place cool, we shopped around and chose Reliant. Install was done in one day in April 2018. Everything worked as expected until that fall when we switched from cooling to heat and back (Texas weather changes, big temperature swings require heating then cooling within a few days). When the system turned started cooling I thought there was a refrigerant leak--The air coming from ducts stank so bad we had to open the windows and air the place out. Turned off the system and contacted Reliant. Tech showed up in a couple of days and inspected the system, diagnosis was "known manufacturer's defect" on the inside coil assembly allows bacteria growth which is noticed when alternating temperatures through the system. "Dirty sock syndrome" was a term he used to describe these types of problems which exist in less than 5% of systems. (his information, not mine). No trace of this had existed on the old system for the 10 years I lived here. He sprayed chemical cleaners on system, said it might go away, which it did, for about two weeks of further temperature swings, then switched to single purpose heating for the winter, problem appeared to go away. The next spring, during more temperature swings, the problem appeared again. Same tech came out, repeated the chemical cleaning. Problem seemed to go away and then we switched to single purpose cooling for the summer. He recommended a UV system for around $1000 to resolve the problem. One year warranty Expires during this time. Fall 2019, temperatures start swinging, A/C turns on after heat and here comes the stink...... $5000 dollars for a system that makes the house stink this bad really has a way of annoying the customer. Not only does this leave a bad scent in the house, but also a bad taste in mouth (metaphorically speaking), and a painfull empty ache In the pocket every time I hear the thermostat click and the blower spin up. Both the bad smell and the presence of whatever is now living in my system cause me a great deal of discomfort. Don't let them put a system in your house unless your can get a "dirty sock"-proof warranty. read more

We didn't realize until mid afternoon on Easter that the ac wasn't working as the weather was nice. Then I was scrambling to fix it and had to call in a professional. However I initially called a different hvac company as they installed the unit from the the home builder. I advised that there some storms in the area and they said my zone board and blower were fried. But instead of repairing it, they said I needed a brand new system. Panic set in and I got a second opinion. I next called another hvac company because they could get there on Monday afternoon. That technician also said my zone board and motor were fried but wasn't sure what else might be wrong. Would send a comfort specialist the next day. On a whim I called Reliant and they scheduled comfort specialist - John first thing Tuesday morning. John was there to sell me a system but advised that he did not think I needed a new system and should really look at having one of their technicians come take one last look. Worst case we are out $80 but could potentially save thousands of it could be fixed and the pets could be warrantied by carrier. Reluctantly I let him set up a visit and they sent Matt out to us on Tuesday afternoon. Matt was extremely professional and advised that John and he had spoken and he had a new zone board to install and would see if the blower worked after that. After installing a new zone board, the blower still did not work. So Matt got us a quote for a new blower motor and thinks we could warranty that part too. Matt believed that the the system was not wired properly causing extra strain on the board and blower motor. John called me that night and apologized that we would also have to try and replace the blower motor and spend a little extra money. Obviously not his fault but I was just amazed that the salesmen followed up and there was continuous communication between he and Matt. Sounds. So simple but many companies fail at this. So Matt shows up two days later with the new blower motor and the system starts right up. He ensured that the system was operating as intended, i paid the labor fee, and he was on his way. So because of John and Matt, I saved thousands of dollars. To the owner, please recognize these two on our behalf and pat yourself on the back for employing quality individuals. Know that we have any future issues, reliant will be our first and hopefully only call. Will definitely be referring other customers as well. read more

Our A/C and furnace went out. We received multiple bids. Reliant sales guy (Brent) was extremely knowledgeable. He listened to my concerns and comments. He sized up a system that was perfect for our needs. The price was not necessarily the lowest, but the BEST. Installation...awesome. The crew (Efram, Raul and Raul) were incredible. The before and after was striking. They walked us through the entire process and did a thorough job. Real pros. Post install checkout and training as well. These guys were great. Cleaned everything they touched as well. I highly recommend these guys. What a great experience!!! read more

We selected Reliant Air based on radio ads that state their service techs are not paid commission. Service tech came to the house and quickly cleared the clogged a/c main drain. He examined the sink drain that the a/c drain was connected to and used his compressed air hose to ensure it was clear. It blew off the pipes below the sink, however he was able to reattach them. After he left, we noticed the sink drain backing up. Reliant sent a different tech out the next day; he advised they are not equipped to clear sink drains but also stated that since their tech may have caused the issue, he would submit a report to their office and that Reliant should be responsible for the cost of a plumber to fix the clog. I contacted the office and spoke with several different people. They were insistent that they were not responsible, refused to offer any assistance with a plumber and have lengthy discussions essentially told me that they were not interested in having me as their customer. They contacted both techs and their supervisor who agreed to have the second tech return to my home to reassess the situation. The second tech returned two days later, confirmed the a/c main line was clear, changed a fitting that links it to the sink drain and refused to admit that he had indicated Reliant should cover the plumber cost. The first tech spent less than 30 minutes clearing the a/c line.....$300 for that service which is far more than I have paid in the past for this same service. Bottom line, Reliant's work on my drain lines basically just moved the clog from the a/c line to the sink drain and clogged the sink. Unfortunate experience and I'll grant their wish to never look to them for A/C repairs or maintenance again. read more

We do not consider this company trustworthy. In a two month period they replaced a transformer twice, both times the thing burned up. The second time Reliant increased the price by $50 without even informing us. When we complained to the owner/manager he agreed to waive one of the $79 diagnostic charges but they have yet to do so. We are out of town and had to do everything with them by phone. Out of frustration we ended up going with another a/c company. The bottom line is if you do business with Reliant be prepared to pay a lot of money, and don't believe what they tell you. read more

Lots of radio ads about how "honest" and "professional" they are, don't believe it, they are crooks like most other A/C companies. I called to ask what they charged for R-410 freon, the modern replacement for the old R-22 that was phased out. R-22 became scarce and expensive, so it wasn't unusual for them to charge $50/lb or more. But R-410 is a much cheaper replacement, and these crooks wanted $86/lb for it, which is great for them, that's an $83/lb profit. R-410 runs about $3/lb in professional quantities, and these crooks want to rip you off by price gouging. No different than "fixing" something that isn't broken. I don't care how great and skilled their techs are, if they are willing to do this then they are NOT trustworthy. A 40-100% markup is not unreasonable, 1400% is unconscionable. STAY AWAY!! read more

Don't recommend; felt like dealing with a used car salesman. Response was quick, though no time frame was provided until the day of service. I was severely disappointed with the technician's "diagnostic." Before even looking at the unit, he asked my wife if we'd like to upgrade. We tried to communicate (multiple times) that we were not interested in upgrading, but really just wanted the problem diagnosed and to replace the broken components. After attempting multiple "troubleshooting" steps the tech determined that "it might be the compressor or an obstruction" we requested a quote for the compressor. The tech came back with a piece of paper that said "recommend a full system upgrade" and added an additional $50 to the $79 diagnostic charge for "general repair." (Still no quote for the compressor). We were of course willing to pay the diagnostic fee (for his time, not for the failure to diagnose the real issue) but were not very interested in paying for "general repairs" since nothing was actually repaired. The tech did agree to remove the repair charge, and finally gave us a quote for the compressor, but only after being asked multiple times. We called somebody else the same day; they showed up early, quickly diagnosed the problem, and replaced the affected components (including the compressor) for 2/3 the cost of what reliant quoted us for just the compressor. Two stars, not one because they were polite, but recommend you don't bother with these folks until they stop disguising high pressure sales tactics as "diagnostics." read more

We had a new AC system installed by Reliant 2 years ago. During the heat wave of the summer of 2022, we couldn't get our home cooler than 88 degrees! We thought it was just because of the heat wave, but some of our friends said they didn't have any problem cooling their homes. We decided to call Reliant back out to check things out. We were told that the coil needed replacing and that the part was under warranty, but after spending $1260 on the labor, there was no improvement. We had another company come out to give their opinion, and he said that it was very unlikely that coil would have gone bad in just two years. After we contacted the management of Reliant, some of their managers came out to assess the problem. They discovered some other issues with the original installation. Not only they refunded the $1260 spent for the labor for the coil, but they took care of all the other issues and even replaced all of our vents with new ones. Now we're considering to enroll in their maintenance program because of their good service. They really stand behind their products! You won't go wrong with Reliant! read more

We called Reliant Air Conditioning to schedule an appointment, as our air conditioner wasn't working. Terry came out and told us we had a leaking evaporator coil. They gave us an invoice, which we paid for $99.00. My husband told Terry that we needed an estimate to fix, as a second opinion. We had already had another company come out for a quote. No one from Reliant Air ever sent a quote or tried to contact me at all to give me a quote. I called Sunday and left a message asking for the quote to be sent. Nothing. Called again on Tuesday, where I was forwarded to someone who explained they would need to send out a "comfort specialist" to look at our system again in order to send us a quote on replacing the evaporator coil. I asked why no one contacted me to schedule this if that was necessary to get an estimate. She told me that we had told the technician that we wanted to go with another company.....why would we pay 100.00 to have someone come out and look at our air conditioner and tell us something was wrong with it and leave and never contact us again? This makes no sense at all. Way to waste everyone's time! read more

I signed up for the Heroes maintenance package. First trip was great. Second service the tech says he "missed" a bad spot on a flew during the last inspection that needed to be replaced but it would have to be re-scheduled. Set for following Friday. A few days later they call to re-schedule again because the lady "didn't know the tech was going to be off that day". Set for the following Friday, last call of the day. At 6:20 p.m. on that Friday the tech calls and blames a "software issue" that made him forget the "parts". He said he could try to look at Home Depot and call back about 7:30 pm to see if he could "find the parts there". I told him to just call me on Monday to re-schedule instead of trying to make something work. Monday the lady calls me since "I" needed to re schedule the appointment. I told her the Tech forgot the parts and that's why it was not done. I asked for same day service since I'd already taken off of work. She said we can do it Tuesday. I asked again about Monday since I'd already been bumped off the repairs and she replied she had checked with her boss and "They say Tuesday is WHAT YOU GET". Then she asked for a time and I said after 4:00 p.m. She said I'd receive texts when the tech was on his way. So I took off work again. No one called, no one showed. I just called them (Wednesday morning) and she says "let me check". Then she says I am scheduled for Wednesday. I relay the entire call we had on Monday and she says "it says you are set for Wednesday, do you want the tech to come?" I said NO. I want my Heroes maintenance contract cancelled, the service appointment cancelled and I want the owner to call me..... guess we will see if the owner calls. I'm not using them but maybe he will figure out why he is losing business with his incompetent staff. read more

Our heater fried it's circuit board sometime over the weekend. When we came home from visiting family for Chritmas the house was bone-chilling cold. We called a few places Wednesday evening, and Reliant was the only one that sent someone out the next day, Matt a humble technician, made me laugh. A new circuit board would have cost over $600, but would not necessarily have fixed the problem. And let us not forget that our a/c stopped working in October. The system is 19 years old, and past its prime, my wife and decided to get a new system. The next morning a crew of 3 guys showed up, removed the old system, put in a new system, and we were basking in warm air. Thank you to Ty and his guys. They were polite, and good natured, they kept things clean. I think they left my house cleaner than when they arrived. I don't remember everyone's name that helped us, but THANK YOU ALL! If you need a new system, just looking, or need maintenance and repairs, or even just have a question, call Reliant. read more

I wanted to use them because of the great yelp reviews and their proximity to our office. Their service is great but the charges are outrageous. I got an estimate from them and compared apples to apples with another company and the difference was a stark 60% higher. Also, the other company waived the trip/diagnostic charge since I ordered the repair. I am so disappointed. The job is done and we are happy with the new vendor. The receptionist is thorough and professional. I will surely not call them or recommend them ever again. read more

Although I'm no longer in their labor warranty period they offered to replace the part for $291 (TXV valve) Heat & Air Hospital was $650 A #1 Air told me "over $1,000" I'm very pleased with their pricing and will probably use them again read more

I had the top two AC companies come out to give me 2nd opinions/bids after a tech from Southern Comfort (who are actually really great for minor maintenance issues [they apply the $69 site visit charge to your actual repair costs as a credit]) informed me that we had a blown compressor (grounding out) and a leak in the evaporator... but for some reason, his quote to fix included the furnace/blower @ $7400 (and with a smaller condenser XR14). I guess I didn't provide him the little tidbit about us moving in two months and I wanted to avoid replacing parts that aren't broken and get out of this at the lowest price point and have the repairs done as quickly as possible. The two other companies I called were Reliant & Baker Bros. The Baker Bros tech (Joey) did a really thorough follow up examination of both the condenser (outside unit) and the evaporator coil which confirmed the SCM identified root cause; however, their bid was about $1400 more than the deal Reliant gave me... I'm not going to disclose the final invoice amount in the spirit of goodwill back to our Sales rep, as there was a *solid* discount; let's call it a rebate. Additionally, they were able to schedule the repair in 48 hours (really the deciding factor, as the other two were loosy goosy about their schedule availability for a crew). The techs arrived right on time and immediately got to work... fortunately for them, it was a cloudy day in July which isn't real common in Texas. They completed the dual install job in about 3.5 hours. They also installed and set up 2 wifi thermostats... and after they finished the jobs, they cleaned up both areas, including borrowing my vacuum for upstairs. I was so pleased with their quality of work, positive attitude, and cleanliness that I paid for their lunch... Ignore these super low scores on Yelp and take my advice... Any one of the three companies I mentioned will be excellent choices that I'd recommend, but for this set of circumstances, ie: getting me out of this mess at the lowest cost possible and quickest repair time, I have to give a 5 piece to Reliant. read more

In my opinion, due to my experience with them over the last two months, they do not care about warranty customers they inherit from new home builds. During the warranty I felt ignored and not valued at all. Their answering service does not even give out accurate information. I was told on one occasion in the early morning I would receive a call in under an hour, and they didn't call me until the next day. When I expressed my dissasstisfaction with that, the dispatcher got angry with me. I was told by a staff member that they don't come out on the weekends for emergency calls, even when I was willing to pay. I was yelled at and hung up on when I told them I did not believe what they were telling me - that it takes days for inquiries for service from their website to get to the correct people. The management won't call me back after requesting a call back and leaving voice mail for them. When I asked to speak to the next person up the chain of command I was told that the Sales Manager, who never responded to my voicemail, is the highest ranking person in the company and there was no one else above them...I guess he owns it too. When I informed them I would be writing a negative review, I was told to 'go right ahead', and promptly hung up on. read more

Called to set up an appointment for regular service and continuation of service plan. First scheduled appointment was set for the following week (about 6 days from original call) I was called on the Friday prior to the Monday appointment and was informed the tech was sick and I'd need to re-schedule to Thursday later in the week. Called at about 8:30AM Thursday to confirm appointment and ask for approximate arrival time. After a long pause I was informed "we were just about to call you to re-schedule since the tech has injured himself". So now my option was to re-schedule for the following week which would put me at about 2 weeks for a service call, provided of course that appointment was not re-scheduled. Not exactly what I would call reliable, I'll be going elsewhere. read more

I have used this company for a maintenance contract for a couple of years. All of the service technicians have been polite, knowledgeable and thorough. They have been great. My issue is with the management. The gentleman they sent for the fall service in early October is a very large man. When he attempted to access the attic, the attic stairs broke under his weight. He apologized, took photos and notified the office. We got a call that someone would be out to repair the damage. Later that day, we noticed that there was a scratch on the hardwood floor where the stairs had collapsed. when the service tech returned 2 weeks later with our repaired stair, he was unaware that the fall service had never been done. To his credit, he stayed and did it. We pointed out the floor damage and he took photos and reported it. I have called multiple times to find out what they are going to do about it but no supervisor is ever available and no one will return my call. These floors are practically new. This is lousy customer service. read more

Our air conditioner wasn't cooling this summer and I called a different company before I called Reliant. The first company told me I needed to replace our system and that it would cost over $8,000. My landlord wanted a second opinion before he agreed to replace it. We called Reliant and they came by the same day, looked at our system added a little freon and we were all set for a fraction of the cost. I appreciate the fact that they were honest and fixed our problem quickly. Not to mention that I felt way more comfortable with the Reliant tech in my home than the other guy that looked a little sketchy. I will definitely use Reliant again. read more

Two missed installation appointments in record-breaking heat. We needed an entirely new central air system when ours simply quit working, and signed up to install a new ~$7000 system. Our scheduled appointment was for Tuesday, July 5, when we finally got hold of the tech at 1pm, he said it was accidentally scheduled for "Wednesday", so we took yet another day off work to be present for the installation. At 11am on Wednesday, we finally got hold of the tech again and he said it was "next Wednesday", July 13 - EIGHT DAYS after we told them to come install the several-thousand dollar equipment. One would assume that even a small, single-family a/c unit would represent valuable patronage, but apparently one would be incorrect. The installation has now been scheduled for this Saturday, requiring us to completely cancel all our plans, as well as sit in four more days of record-breaking temperatures with no central air. We selected Reliant based on the sheer number of positive reviews, but our experience has been nothing but negative. Complaints have been reported to a "customer service manager" via voicemail. Hopefully the a/c unit will work more effectively than their employees. ***Update to review above. Appointment rescheduled for Saturday July 9. Though my customer service calls have never been returned, the third installation appointment was kept and our air conditioning system was installed without any further problems.*** read more

I had used reliant for bi-annual check-ups for two years, they always seem to be pushing theses service plans on me. Seemed like they were always getting us to pay for 1 to 2 years in advance. They came out in May for the spring check-up, for which they called to remind me. The work was done, a problem was found with one of the coils in an AC unit. Was informed another tech would have to come out and give me an estimate. I was given a receipt for the check-up marked no-charge and that I was covered under a service plan. Two days later the other tech comes out and informs me replacement of the coils will cost $4800. I tell him that's too much and I would like to shop around. After some haggling, he drops the price to $3200. Which to me is an admission that he was going to over charge me $1600. Had them do the work and everything was fine. I get a call from them two months later saying that I did not have a valid service agreement and that I owe them $178 for the check-up. This place cannot be trusted. They will constantly push service agreements on you and when you do need repairs, will guage you as much as possible. read more

IMPECCABLE Service! Reliant advised ALL options from repair (which could not be guaranteed to resolve on long term basis since unit was so old & pieced together) to replacement options. They did not "push the most expensive", rather spoke through logical recommendations and pricing for each. The work was outstanding to date! It was 104 degrees during the removal of old unit and installation of new unit. The workers were thorough in explaining EVERY step, they cleaned up EVERYTHING, and explained new unit, reminding us to call for free "air balance". I would absolutely recommend them to family and friends, really anyone! read more

Absolutely insane charges. $79 service call . . . I get that. It gets them to and from our house. It took 20 minutes (I timed it) to replace the capacitor (a $20 part, I looked it up). The charge was $256.00. So $256 minus the $79 service call charge and the $20 part leaves a whopping $157 for 20 minutes work. That comes out to about $450 an hour for labor. I thought auto repair charges were high at $60 an hour. This is ridiculous. read more

I have had 2 Carrier 21 seer units installed 10 years and one of the units started turning off with low pressure codes. I called the company that installed the units and had been servicing them, they diagnosed that my compressor was bad. I was told it was $3100 to replace the compressor with a 1 year warrantee and they no longer install Carrier units. Reliant came out to replace the entire outdoor unit with a 10 year warrantee. Before installing they found that the compressor was good and suspected a leak. Within and hour, they had a service tech at my house and diagnosed that the compressor was good and the system had a leak from a bad soldering joint (cold soldered joint) from the previous company (guaranteed right day or night) who installed a new coil 2 years ago. Scheduled a normal check-up on my system a week in advance, and they told me the afternoon of 7/2. No one shows so a little after 4 I call and ask the status. They say someone should be there between 5 and 6. Not happy about that but I have been waiting all afternoon, so a little longer isn't that big a deal. Now a little after 6:00, and the technician calls me and informs me that another service call comes in and the job he is on now is a big one and he won't be there until 9:00 PM or later. I call the office, and their response is to ask me if I would like to reschedule. Really?? No "I'm so sorry you had to wait all afternoon", nothing even close. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more
