**2.5 stars** I was looking for something different and came across this place on yelp. The staff was friendly and happily accommodated my request for no yogurt in my berry smoothie. The smoothie was good, but small and expensive. I ordered the tamale plate which comes with one chicken tamale, salsa, rice, cheese, olives and beans. Basically these items were premade and heated up. The rice was mushy and barely warm. The salsa comes from a jar or can because it wasn't fresh. The tamale must have been microwaved because it was dried out and hard on the corners. There is almost no sauce inside the tamale because even the chicken inside was dry. Overpriced and not good, take a hard pass on this place.

Açaí bowl (mango instead of banana)

I was pleasantly surprised at how good my açaí bowl was! I substituted mangoes for the bananas and wow that was really yummy! The space is a nice chill atmosphere. Glad we decided to stop by.

Breakfast burrito (in a bowl) with a latte
    Sarah C.

I stopped in during lunch time there was only one other person waiting for food. I ordered the breakfast burrito without the wrap (gluten free) It was flavorful however there wasn't a lot for the price ($14.99) The latte lacked the bold flavor of coffee, It was more of a french press coffee than an espresso.

    Acai protein bowl

Such a cute place with a great menu. We came here our last day and the person helping us out was so sweet and helpful. So great for anyone that vegan and gluten free. They have gluten free granola and vegan/gf protein. It's SO YUMMY.

    Remedy Café - tamale plate

Ordered the tamale plate. Was great tasting and a very healthy choice. I hope to stop by again, but this time for breakfast. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a healthy alternative.

Unfortunately the cafe gets one star, the eggs and avocado I got last time was downright offensive. As in, this meal should not have been served/ left the kitchen. The avocado was rock hard, brown and unable to be mushed with a fork and $4, the eggs were greasy and burned brown. Oh no, this was disastrous, I returned the avocado as it was inedible and ate two bites of the burned eggs... over $12, really disappointing.

I had a fantastic stay at The Society Hotel. If you're into super fancy luxury hotels, maybe this…read moreisn't the place for you, but for the rest of you, read on. The design of the hotel is really neat - it's in a restored school building and they lean into that with lockers still in the hallway and things like that. I came here during the week while working so spent a lot of time just hanging out in the hotel lobby, which was very comfy and cozy with a fireplace going. The spa was really nice. Again, not huge or fancy, but a great value. With your stay you get one hour reserved per day (free), including the days you check in and out, and can also ask to soak additional times if there is space. On my first night, I had booked the last hour they're open, and they texted me saying I could come an hour early if I wanted since there was plenty of room. There's a warm pool and a cold plunge inside, as well as a sauna, and a hot tub outside. I was nervous it was going to be a strict one-hour time limit, but they didn't seem to care. Caveat though, I also did come during the week so it was probably less busy than average. I was cheap and stayed in one of the bunk rooms. They're like fancy hostel accommodations. I generally don't like hostels but I liked it here. The beds are super comfy and sturdy, linens and towels provided, and there are curtains around each bed, as well as a light switch, outlets, and a storage area at the head of the bed. The lights in the room turn off at 10 and it was very quiet the whole time I was here. There were probably only 5ish other people in the room though that could technically fit 24. There are ample bathrooms outside the room; they're all single bathrooms with their own showers and were very clean every time I used them. Access to the spa is the same, and I paid $35 a night, which was a crazy deal considering I saw local people coming just for the spa which is also $35 for a single hour if you're not staying here. I had never been to this area before, and I loved it! I took the Amtrak here from Portland (which was only $7!) and drops off less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Transportation options once you're in town are pretty limited, but there is a public shuttle system that's $1 a ride - I took it to nearby White Salmon one day for lunch and on the way back they just dropped me off right at the hotel. Bingen itself really isn't much, and not a ton of food options. White Salmon was just a tad bigger and really close. While I didn't make it there, looks like Hood River just across the bridge is a little more happening. I did eat in the hotel lobby a few times, and the food was fine, although breakfast was pretty overpriced. The evening happy hour with $9 cocktails/wine was good though! If you're looking for a fun/different experience, I really recommend The Society Hotel. I loved my midweek getaway here - and they offer discounts for weeknight stays!

They have plenty of outdoor seating for your little pups, though the water dish they left out was unattended to. As far as food, they had a whole plant-based menu to meet my vegan needs. More important, they were able to make a gluten-free sandwich for my partner with celiac. They took precautions to minimize cross-contact with gluten items, including wrapping the sandwich up separately and bringing it out to us first before bringing out our gluten containing items. The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision. All in all, a good experience, just expect to pay a little more if you are going to shop or eat there!

This three egg omelet, Excuse me. This three egg sausage omelette consisted of one singular sausage link. This lonely singular individual sausage had been sliced and diced into 4 pieces and GENEROUSLY sprinkled inside my omelette with peppers and onions. The sausage in this Omelette had me feeling as if I had Gone fishing. "Ya catch anything?" No! Few bites here and there. Overall, the omelette wasn't bad, but I do expect a $20 omelette to represent its worth. Served with toast and hash whites ... I mean hash browns. These hash browns were definitely more of ... clash browns . Stale, soggy, and unpleasant.. just like the missing sausage this hash was missing the brown and crispy desirable and necessary elements. The next item up forbid was the breakfast sandwich!!! For I did not order this sandwich nor did I try it being the lack of quantity and volume of sandwich. But....GIRL!!! she was dainty and dry like sausage she was all alone. Like a lonely, single child with no siblings to play with à la carte. No sides.. again lacking representation of price the sandwich needed a PR team. Winner winner, chicken dinner, THE PANCAKE!!! For I did not order those pancakes either, but I did have a bite being that there were two pancakes à la cart with no sides, consisting of coconut and pineapple. Best pancake I've ever had. Wildly overpriced... One cup of Baileys and coffee One milkshake- The shake had this shaved ice quality about it. Little ice shards throughout it with each sip. Outside seating was nice with multiple extra large picnic tables to choose from next to a little creek of water. Service was fine. When I mentioned to the cashier that the price seems like highway robbery he met me with a defensive response and found it very unappreciated and told me that they are the end of the road. And each individual does get a menu to look at. No His response was unusual and interesting to think about and interpret. Does you're the end of the road mean you can charge and put out any quality for any price and it's all good because you're at the end of the road and the only option? I understand tough times /economy/price of goods/profit margins. But price should represent what you receive. If you like casinos or playing cards this is the place for you. It's definitely a gamble!
