Cute little cafe located down a quiet side street in downtown Hood River. We didn't indulge in any of their lunch dishes, but did share a kale,coconut,banana smoothie. Although pricy for a 16 oz drink , I found it healthy and delicious. We will come back next time we visit Hood River and try their other specialties. read more

The smoothie was good, but small and expensive. I ordered the tamale plate which comes with one chicken tamale, salsa, rice, cheese, olives and beans. Basically these items were premade and heated up. The rice was mushy and barely warm. The salsa comes from a jar or can because it wasn't fresh. The tamale must have been microwaved because it was dried out and hard on the corners. There is almost no sauce inside the tamale because even the chicken inside was dry. Stopped by this place for the second time while in Hood River yesterday. I had their Coco Cocoa smoothie add espresso beans and I just had to say it's one of the best smoothies I've ever had. Perfect consistency, well balanced ingredients so no one flavor was overwhelming. Was not overly nutritious tasting even though it was definitely a healthy choice full of maca, coconut meat, almonds cocoa powder etc. The cafe itself is very clean, bright and open. You watch as your food is prepared by friendly staff behind the bar. Prices are a little steep. With the add in of espresso beans I paid about $14 before the tip for my drink but this in my opinion a case of you get what you pay for in the current economic reality and based on what I value in food. The smoothie with a bit of caffeine and complex carbs was exactly what I needed to get me going yesterday so I will be back next time we're in the area! Dude, this place rocks. Well, it definitely rocked my socks off. I'm trying my best to transition to a *little* healthier lifestyle, as in when I'm on vacation limit myself to only a few splurges. While cruising down I-84, Remedy Juice Cafe popped up on Google Maps (sorry, Yelp). While it did not seem appetizing at all, we decided to swing on by. I had my doubts when I walked on in. There's a doTerra stand advertising essential oils which I am not a fan off or any multi-level marketing scheme. I'll stop there because my review is on Remedy. :) Upon reviewing the menu I noticed how detailed every dish was. They list everything included in their dishes so you know exactly what you're putting in your body. I decided to go for the healthiest sounding thing: the Glory Salad Bowl (brown rice, spinach, Glory sauce (tahini), grated carrots and beets, tofu and sunflower seeds, $9.95). I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this vegan salad. I think the brown rice is what really made the entire dish. Without, it would have been rather plain. It also helped keep me full for several hours afterwards. Additionally, I've discovered I have a liking for beets which was unknown all my life until today. If I were to order this dish again, I could forgo with the carrots. I've never been a huge carrot fan, especially when served fresh. My husband order a 16 ounce green island smoothie (orange juice and pineapple, banana, kale, ginger, green super food powder, $8.95). It might seem spendy, however you have realize how much fruit goes into creating this much juice. It definitely takes a lot of product, as I learned from making my own juices. I was not a huge fan of the drink. The ginger was rather overwhelming for my tastebuds. My husband did enjoy it every much and practically inhaled it in 5 minutes. He says it was an A+ smoothie. Since it was his order and not mine, I'll go off his recommendations. Remedy is conveniently located right off the freeway, making it a super easy detour. A quiet little spot with fresh juice and smoothies, and a few meals. We shared a green juice and P had the burrito, I the glory salad. I would certainly order these items, again. The salad had this delicious tahini dressing which pulled it all together, and it was truly the star of this show. There was a very generous serving of rice (2 cups? I could eat only half), the tofu was well pressed and fresh, and all the veggies were fresh, too. I wish I had room, I'd really like to try the special pumpkin smoothie. After 25min, I noticed that a few parties who came in after us had received their smoothies and left. When I asked about ours, I was told the mango one was made and the strawberry one was in process. Then, I watched as they pulled out mangos and strawberries to make both. I understand mistakes happen, but I would have preferred an apology, and perhaps an order to comp one of the drinks. In the meantime, a family with strollers came in, waited for 5 minutes at the counter to be served, then walked back out. At 30min post order we finally received the drinks and they were awful. They didn't taste like any lassi I have ever had before and each had sizable chunks of unpureed almond butter in the smoothie. They were just not good. The music is a little loud for my taste, but not totally off putting. The customer service, however, was not very welcoming, and I had a hard time getting informative answers to my questions about the menu. I ended up with a glory bowl. All of the ingredients were fresh; however, the food was incredibly bland. Even the sauce didn't really impart much flavor or show any complexity. It's possible I just hit an off day here, but I can't really recommend this place from my experience. Edit: Downgraded to one star after getting the owner's response and seeing that he is weirdly arguing and gaslighting everyone's negative experiences.
