I am a licensed cosmetologist and back in February I came into the store and was informed my license expired a week prior. I was given the professional discount. A couple of weeks later I came in with a copy of my renewed license and the lady at the counter tops down my information and told me they would update my information. Last week when I checkout, the owner says my license is expired. I explained to her I have already provided my license. She says it's not in the system. She moves my items and catches an attitude. I ask to speak to the gentlemen and he was just as bad. No apology for the inconvenience. They all were rude and disrespectful. As much money as Black women spend in these in these stores, we definitely shouldn't be disrespected. We pay for their mortgages, sending their kids to college and retirement. I work too hard to have to hassle with this store. I am a licensed professional who will never step foot in this store again. As strange as this sounds, I found this store to be much more welcoming. No one did anything special it's just a feeling I got, maybe because it's so bright and the aisles were wide. A professional beautician recommended this shop and I must say that it does have a wide variety of products. You will be hard pressed to not find what you need in this store. Unfortunately, there is a presumption that their customers are all here to steal and I just can't get beyond the complete lack of customer care. First of all, everything has a security tag on it... from the largest to the smallest item in the store. Want some mascara? Be prepared to spend 15 minutes opening it when you get home because the security tag has 157 layers of tape over it to ensure it doesn't get stolen. ***Insert first eye roll here.*** The folks working the register - I presume the owners - had no shame in clearly stating that they believed someone was stealing and that their customers generally intend to steal. The presumption is outrageous and the behavior that results is sickening. So while I appreciate the large selection, I just can't support the business until it figures out how to support and uplift the clientele that it depends upon. I came here after looking at the slim selection of goddess locs at Hair Land. The first thing I noticed are the wide aisles, bright lights, huge store, and endless products. While the cashier rung up someone, I asked where the locs were, she pointed me to the wrong aisle, someone else corrected her, and the cashier apologized (much appreciated). To the cashier's credit though, their goddess locs were literally in at least 3-4 different aisles based on brand I guess (why Craig?!) so they were both correct. There was a lot of variety to choose from, and I left with a sample of what I needed, very pleased. They have a wide variety of everything for your head including kids hair products, wigs, every type of crochet/extension/braid/weave from several different brands, all kinds of moisturizers, makeup, du rags, scarves, and even nails too. Once I got home to use the product I noticed that it was defected & the side which you can see in the photo was oozing product. This is a brand new beauty supply in Tempe. It's only been open for about 3 months. A woman working at Sally's recommended it to me. It is in a great location, so hopefully I can avoid having to go all the way out to Phoenix to Mid-K. It is spacious, clean and the set up is reminiscent of the beauty supplies back home in NY. The prices are good and the owner was helpful. There is a nice variety of things, but i think they need to work on the availability of products for natural hair. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service from this business. I am a college student that is on a budget and I shop here all the time, it is not close to my house and I still make the 45 min drive to shop at this beauty supply store because they usually have what I need. Yesterday I purchased a pack of hair, braid spray and two packs of beads for my braids to jazz them up because I'm getting my hair braided. As I got home I realized that I did not receive the beads but all the other products that I purchased were in the bag. I called the next day as it was too late to call that day. I figured the $4 beads would be a simple replacement for the good customer service I've always received here. But instead I was yelled at angrily and impatiently by a lady who I assumed worked the front desk. She told me they'd check the cameras and that i needed to call back tomorrow. I explained to her that I really needed the beads and that i do not live close to the location so if I was going to drive down there I needed to be assured that the beads would be replaced. Her attitude was less than nice. After 20 min of arguing with her to "check her cameras today" she finally told me to call at 7. Once I called back she shortly just told me that they "put the beads in the bag" after explaining AGAIN that i never received the beads and they were not in the bag. She shortly said "we put them in the bag" It's not even the fact that the beads were only $4, but it's the fact that I shop and trusted this business consistently and they did not want to keep me as a customer. And I quickly understood that i had no value as a customer. I-am OVERLY disappointed with this location and I will NEVER return to this store again. Don't shop here if you can avoid it. So I walk up with 8 minutes to spare, to find the doors locked, two owners at the desk and no way in. I motion that I just need one thing and I'll be out of their hair. Pun, because it's a wig shop.
