I was made to feel that the problem was somehow related to my language barrier and cultural differences in communication. At one point, the conversation even became about money and what I had paid for -- essentially, "You didn't pay for the whole highlight, right?" -- which felt completely inappropriate and shaming. I have never experienced this level of disrespect or lack of accountability in a beauty salon. I left feeling sad, embarrassed, and unwelcome, when I had simply come in expecting professional service and to be heard as a client. I want to be clear that I don't believe this experience represents the values of the entire salon or its owners. My issue is specifically with this individual stylist and the way he handled a situation when the result did not meet my expectations. I am sharing this so other women, especially those who may have a language or cultural communication difference, know to make sure their concerns are genuinely listened to and treated respectfully. A client should never be made to feel guilty or ashamed for expressing disappointment with a service.

Denese has been doing my hair for a few years now and I absolutely love her! She is amazing with color, y'all! She brought life to my long mane with simple highlights throughout my first year with her. During year two, I confessed that I had wanted pink hair since Gwen Stefani did it in the 90's, but was afraid I would ruin my long hair if I tried. Somehow, Denese managed to get my hair any and all shades of pink (from hot pink to cotton candy to blush) which I requested all spring and summer. When fall hit and I needed to be in wedding and go back to the world of teaching, she got my hair back to its original color without any issues. It was so soft and everyone in my world was amazed. It's summer again, and she's got me back rockin' light pink curls. I seriously get so many compliments and love all the smiles my silly hair brings to people's faces. Denese is amazing!!! I was on Lincoln Ave strolling with my dog and came across a stand sign "offering Hair Cut $39" at a AVEDA concept salon so I walked-in... 3 hours later I walked out with a kick ass haircut and colors in my hair. Btw, it was 3 hours because I got this ridiculously so good, I mean, so fabulously put together Massage modality (Western and Eastern) combination session from Samuel. It was amazing!!! His flow was flawless. He didn't even ask about pressure. Now, I know why. He already knew. I booked again already cause "50% off" if you're new. But, I think he will hook you up regardless. Hands down by far one of the best experiences I've had in a long time visiting a salon!!! I was in last weekend with my sister who was visiting from out of town to get her hair cut. The stylist Jimmy usually cuts my hair, but he was not available. So my sister saw a new member of the salons staff named Charlie. Not only was Charlie very professional and courteous, but he also also performed exceptionally well in creating the look my sister wanted. The cut and color he provided exceeded her expectations. The previous color that was done by her home town stylist needed to be corrected. It was a very time consuming job, however Charlie was able to squeeze her in to correct her color, and give her the look that she wanted. The end result was absolute perfection. Sam, the massage therapist here, is a true talent. I have had massages at many spas throughout the city and this was hands down the best I have received. On top of an obvious knack for massage, he has training in other aspects of physical health and wellness that inform and round out his service and approach. He also clearly cares about the health and comfort of his clients and will take his time making sure you leave feeling your absolute best (in my case that meant a wonderful session of light stretching after my massage). Sam caters to your individual needs and goes above and beyond in a way that does not happen at larger salons or spas. My friend and I came here to get our hair colored with Charlie and I got my hair cut with James. We both went in to get a balayages and showed Charlie the pictures of what we wanted and the color came out perfect for us both. I also need a good trim/style for my bangs that I'm growing out and James did a wonderful job and I love it! Charlie cut my hair this past Sunday. Not only did it take a little over an hour and a half for a very simple hair cut, it looks absolutely atrocious. I will be calling today to get it fixed. See pictures attached. I called and was told the owner would fix my hair. Then the owner wasn't available so jimmy was going to fix it. Jimmy then was unavailable and told me no one else at the salon was willing to fix it due to my yelp review. They also would not refund my money. What customer service!! My son who is 14 years of age is accompanied by his mother in attempt to get his hair dyed - perfectly ok on the surface - behind the scenes as his father I have already informed him and his mother that I did not approve. Without my consent my son is in the chair in the process of having his hair dyed - behind my back essentially - I figure out what is happening in the middle of the service and I call the salon to inform them of my concern. I inform them that this service has not been approved by me and should not continue. The salon owner dismisses my concern and decides not to take the step toward doing the right thing. Legally were they obligated to terminate the service - no - but again as a business owner you have some sort of moral obligation to do what's right. In no situation would I feel compelled to complete a service or sell a product to a minor without full consent from their parents and would be especially adamant about not moving forward if there was any push back from either parent. So Taylor Hair Dezign lacks the moral compass I deem adequate - therefore they are being criticized with a less than positive review. I prefer to do business with people and businesses that lean on the side or right.

First of all, their hours are crazy and change every day, so I had trouble even getting an appointment made. I went in for an eyebrow and bikini wax on a Saturday morning. The woman who did the waxing was Lainie or Lonnie or something like that. I can't remember and I threw away the card after my awful experience. First of all, you have to wind your way through ugly, industrial hallways to even get to the spa section of the place. I was scared I wouldn't be able to find my way out. The room she put me in was extremely warm, and when I mentioned it, she just ignored me and told me it was just because the massage table was heated. She started with my eyebrows and told me that she likes to work quickly. I was definitely okay with that because who wants a wax to last long? Anyway, even though I told her I liked the natural looking, fuller brow, she waxed below AND above the brow line and totally thinned my brows into lines. I was angry since my brother's wedding was that weekend, but figured I could pencil them in. T he bikini was was very painful, of course but seemed mostly okay. That is until two days later when I realized the hair hadn't been pulled out, but ripped off at the surface so that it was already growing back in weird patches. Gross, I know. I called to complain and left a message about my problem. (Again, weird hours, so I could hardly ever get anyone.) They didn't even bother calling me back! I tried one other time and still was ignored. Their regular prices are ridiculous for how cheap the experience and quality is, so I will NEVER be going here again. Luckily I only paid the reduced price for the bikini wax because of the Pretty in Pink promotion. Plus, if the way they treat their dissatisfied customers is an indication of the business, you should definitely turn and run!
