Sorry Mark it has taken me so long to post this--but I think posting now is even better to show how the cabinets look now after so long. I was very nervous and scared about doing it and had interviewed and got quotes from three other kitchen cabinet remodelers, including Mark. Mark's price was competitive with the others, but it was his patience and demeanor with me that I really appreciated--especially in the beginning of getting to know him and asking questions about his quote, how they work, how long it would take, the product they use, etc.--I had a lot of questions and Mark was so patient and very responsive. He even came out again with a sample because I was so nervous about the color and finish that I was trying to decide on. I chose Mark over the other guys I interviewed and I was so glad I did. They did an AMAZING job with our project! They always showed up on time, protected our floors and house while they were working--even though it was such a big job, we hardly had any interruption with our daily life--he and his team made sure the other rooms and areas around the kitchen were protected and his process and how they did it was seamless. It has been two years and eight months and look at my cabinets! Amazing--not one crack! No separation, no fading, no peeling--the cabinets still look factory finished and they look way better than the original finish when they were installed which was a custom glazed finish. Even the busy areas--trash can, refrigerator handle area, etc.--in all this time, they still look perfect! Mark is the best and we are so glad we found him! Finally, we set a date for him to get a sense of the scope of work I was looking to have completed. He arrives on time. I go to the door introduce myself and I said to him as I would any guest, family member, friend etc that come to my home... please take off your shoes and leave at the door. I do not let anyone in my home with there shoes on considering the germs, and things people step on. In any case, he immediately gets upset it seems and said no I will come back and I said well do you have shoe booties if you're umcomfortable with what I thought was a simple request. Again, he seems to get unset and walk away stating he will come back. He knew he wasn't coming back and I was so turned off by his reaction, unprofessionalism on the matter which led me to leave this. So if you are considering doing business with this company... don't ask him to take off his shoes before entering because he will walk out on you with no explanation what's so ever.

This top dollar company did the outside work on my row house in Park Slope. We had the place…read morerebuilt and sided and we put a decorative cap at the top of the building. This is the work they do slowly (5 months to being really done), at their convenience, but they do exterior work well. The problem came with the interior work. I asked to have a built in cabinet/bookcase built over one wall. The owner did not remember that I insisted I wanted the piece built out of solid wood, birch to be exact, and painted. Whenever you want painted wood you need to specify that it must be wood or many companies will cut corners. We wanted doors to hide the TV to fold back into the unit. When the piece came the doors could not be installed that way because the depth was wrong on the piece. The entire thing was built out of some crap pressed cardboard product which stunk of formaldehyde and fifty other chemicals - which was exactly what I wanted to avoid since we had two babies in the house. They charged $2500, needed up front, of course. Now, three years later that piece is bubbling from where drinks have been put down on it and since it's cardboard it can't be repaired. We would have had them remove it the day it arrived but after five months of construction on a job that should have taken one month we wanted to get our house back. They also lost the handles for four of the six windows we had installed and also lost the screen to a custom window. It took weeks to convince them that they lost it and that we need the screen and then weeks to get it delivered. Never again inside the house, but for exterior work on a row house - which is tricky business - they were better than the other options. Be prepared to stay on top of them and call when they vanish for a week or two with your house covered in plywood.

Unlike other contractors, Carlos is a big communicator that takes pride in his work. He makes sure that projects are explained thoroughly and is always available to answer questions. Lastly, Carlos is a carpenter by trade and built much of the furniture used, which saved a lot of time and money. My renovation was expected to be completed in 4 months and Carlos delivered on that timeframe.

There were several projects around the house that needed to be taken care of, but we did not have…read moretime to get ahold of a mechanic for some electrical work or a carpenter for some wood. It was very convenient to have everything done around the house! Our garage door switch within the house was broken and he was able to easily rewire everything to make within a few minutes. Then we had a job for in the backyard where our patio shade was dilapidated and molded after being exposed to rain/sun damage for the past 25+ years. We did not plan on fixing it that same day, but since it was such an eye soar and the garage door fix was so fast we were intrigued. Danny said he could get it done within a couple hours after getting the proper material and for not much more -- we thought MIGHT AS WELL! Like he said Danny said he got out patio shade fixed within a couple hours. He sanded down the frame to level it out, went to the hardware store, got everything cut within our backyard, & cleaned up everything within a couple hours. Overall, Danny was very efficient, reasonable in price, and fast. We were very happy with his work and we'll definitely hire him again for more work around our old house.

This is a difficult review to write because we really wanted to give Danny a great rating for…read moreremodeling our rental unit. But the fact is he walked off the job before it was done, and this was after he blew up at us about a flooring question we had. Not only was this disappointing, but very unprofessional. This put us in a very tight spot to find people to complete the job before our tenants moved in 2 days later. The work was okay up until the very end when you need a seasoned professional to complete the job (install baseboard trim, caulk bathroom sinks, install lighting fixtures, see the attached photos for reference). It seemed to us that Danny took on a lot more than he was prepared for and when we were in the home stretch, he just quit. Danny might be a good handyman for small, short-term household fixes. But if you're looking to do anything larger than that, you'll want to find a true professional who stands by their work and is committed to the very end of the project.
