Rendon Heating & Air was dispatched to my home to perform an annual furnace tune up through Fidelity National Home Warranty. I received timely communication and responses from them prior to the appointment confirming date and time as well as the name of the Tech who would be servicing the system. Anthony came within the window of time provided. He was extremely professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He answered all the questions that I had and was able to take care of the issue efficiently and effectively. I'm on the fence about renewing my home warranty but I'm glad they were able to send me a company that I can refer to on my own that is reliable and great to work with. **BEWARE -- DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!** I strongly recommend thinking twice before hiring this company. There were so many problems with both the installation and the owner's conduct that it would take several pages to explain everything that happened. The installation was quoted as a one-day job but ended up taking three days. The work area was left in the condition shown in the photos. They completely destroyed the trim, door, and door frame. After the third day, they simply said they were finished and left everything completely trashed. When I did not immediately pay the full balance the moment the crew finished, I began receiving repeated phone calls and demands for payment. Only a couple of hours after the work was completed, the owner, David, came to my home late at night and continued knocking until I answered. He then confronted me at my front door, yelling and swearing while demanding his money. His behavior was aggressive, intimidating, and completely unacceptable. The following day, I began inspecting the system and immediately found problems throughout the installation. The filter was approximately half the size it should have been. They installed a 1-inch-thick filter even though the filter compartment was designed for a 4-inch filter. They also reused my old filter compartment, which did not properly line up with the blower unit, so they covered everything with an excessive amount of tape. When I attempted to remove the filter, I discovered that the filter door could only open a few inches because they had installed the overflow drain and S-trap directly in front of it. This is basic HVAC installation and common sense. In my opinion, it was a perfect example of the company not caring about performing decent-quality work. The overflow safety switch was also missing. The attic insulation had been pushed completely to the side and was never put back, and the surrounding trim was badly damaged. These were only some of the issues I discovered. The company had to return three separate times to correct problems. Approximately one week after the installation, the unit stopped working entirely. This happened during one of the coldest stretches of the winter, leaving us without reliable heat for approximately 10 days. We were forced to purchase several portable heaters just to keep the house warm. The system also failed its inspection and failed the HERS test twice. Problems related to this installation continued for approximately six to nine months. Throughout the dispute, David repeatedly contacted me at work, sometimes calling 30 to 40 times within a single hour. He contacted my boss, left messages on my work phone, and even emailed my employer accusing me of defrauding him. He also threatened me with bodily harm on more than one occasion and made statements suggesting that I should be afraid of him because of his alleged special operations military background. In hindsight, I should have contacted law enforcement and pursued legal action. Instead, I ultimately just wanted the situation resolved so I could have no further contact with him. Based on the poor workmanship, repeated installation failures, failed inspections, aggressive collection tactics, workplace harassment, and threats I personally experienced, I cannot recommend this company. read more

Beware this company! They dont clear charge you before the service! We had a very disappointing experience with this company. Their technician came to our home to look at our heater. He did not provide any upfront pricing, nor did he tell us that there would be a fee before touching the unit. After doing a quick, simple adjustment, he charged us $125 without any prior notice. The heater only worked for a one time and then failed again the same day. When we called the company, the owner told us that our heater is "over 20 years old and cannot be repaired." If the unit was truly too old to repair, their technician should NOT have started any repair or charged us in the first place. This is misleading and unprofessional. My thermostat suddenly decide not to work last Monday, Rendon was able to come out next morning for the repair, Chris was professional and knowledgeable; unfortunately after the repair, another part failed later that day, but they come out again the very next day to repair. After two repair, unfortunately, the issue was that my system was just too old and needs to be replaced. They gave me a quote within a few hours (totally reasonable after received competition quote). Accept the quote on Thursday afternoon before 7/4 long weekend, and David was able to help me getting schedule first thing Monday morning!!! I called Rendon Heating and Air because my small Williams wall heater stopped working. I found their ad on Yelp and chose this company because their ad displayed a "Zero Service Call Fee." At the time of the appointment, Allante showed up, spent 10 minutes looking at my heater and told me it couldn't be fixed and the replacement heater would be around $2800. I said "No thank you" because It seemed like he didn't spend enough time inspecting my heater before he said it couldn't be fixed and gave me a pricey replacement estimate. So, Allante left. But a few minutes later, he came back and said that the office asked for $125 service call fee and that he couldn't leave until he got paid. That's called "Bait and Switch" folks and its illegal! But there he was, staring me down, waiting for payment, so I wrote him a check. Then, when he left, I called the company and spoke to Maria and told her that the ad on Yelp said "Zero Service Call Fee" so why am I being charged for the service call now? She said "Well Yelp is kinda confusing. The fee was for the work that Allante did on my heater." What?! I explained that there was no work done on my heater and I wanted my $125 back. Maria assured me that she would not cash my check and instead, she would mail it back to me. I agreed. Then, the next day, I checked my bank account and guess what? The check was cashed! So I called Maria and she said someone else deposited the check by mistake. By the end of the day, I got my $125 back via a Zelle payment from Rendon. I called another company called Creative Comfort Systems. They came and looked at my heater and fixed it for $164! I won't be calling Rendon again and I do not recommend them! read more

Fast to show up, faster to overcharge -- beware of Rendon Heating and Air. Called Rendon Heating and Air for our rental property's A/C with temps expected in the 100s. They scheduled quickly, which I appreciated. We were told the service call was $75 and would be applied to the repair. When billed, we were charged $89--the owner later said it was supposed to be $72. Prices seemed inconsistent from the start. The tech diagnosed a failed capacitor and contactor. He said the 2001 unit might need a $14,000 replacement but could be repaired for $750--possibly just a temporary fix. He had the parts on his truck and said it would take 30 minutes. I called the owner to confirm, and instead of addressing the price concern, he boasted he could do it in 10 minutes. The parts cost $50-$100, so at that rate, the labor came out to $1,300-$3,900 per hour. The owner justified the price by listing his trucks, advertising budget, and operating costs. I understand running a business isn't free, but that doesn't excuse gouging. My mechanic provides itemized estimates for parts and labor--this company didn't. In the end, I declined the work. They were quick to respond, but the pricing lacked transparency, the charges were inconsistent, and the focus felt more on making the sale than treating the customer fairly. read more

Extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Rendon air. I had scheduled an appt with them & they sent over their service technician Justin. Justin quickly "found" the reason our a/c was not working and I was told that they "just needed to buy the part & they would have cold air blowing for me that day." So I paid the diagnostic fee of $125 & then paid $750 for them to repair the part. Well that DID NOT fix the issue. When Justin left my house it was 73 degrees inside & we set it to 70 degrees...It did not lower one degree by the time he left to the evening. It actually went up to 77 degrees. I was calling/texting because Justin told me if it's not working to give a call & they will come look at it. Then the owner David I believe was his name, called me & was being extremely rude to me over the phone because I was not willing to pay yet another diagnostic fee because I was told it would be fixed. Then he rudely proceeds to tell me "we technically don't work on systems older than 20 years old to begin with" this was NEVER told to me. After I kept telling him how it's rubbing me the wrong way that I was told it was fixed after spending $750 & now you want to charge me again to see what may be the issue now- He told me "fine Zane I will send someone out there for free since you want us to work for free just for them to tell you you need a new system." It was truly disgusting how he spoke to me but it's even more disgusting that I was told I will have "cold air blowing that day" and that was not the case at all. That $750 could have went to a new system but no, it was wasted money & now I am getting a new system through someone else because I refuse to give anymore service to someone who scams you out your money, poor communication & down right disrespectful to their customers. Our furnace stopped working this past Saturday. I immediately contacted two companies in which one never returned my phone call. David did so and I conveyed the situation to him. On Monday he came out promptly and diagnosed the problem. David then ordered the new part and installed it this morning. It's difficult to find reliable non-price gouging services. They sent our REO (which I believe is a scam and they really don't know what they're doing there) and it was a hellish experience, for both me and my warranty company. But after 5 months of no responses, the warranty company finally caught on and sent out Rendon! I could cry. They were helpful, and quick, and best of all, responsive lol. I did not use his HVAC services however this man single handedly saved Halloween. My son's costume was an inflatable dinosaur that ran out of batteries as we reached Rendons doorstep. He saw that my son's costume was deflated along with his spirits and said not to worry that he had batteries to spare. He ran into his house and to his shop truck to retrieve a screwdriver and batteries all the while still handing out candy to the trick or treaters. 10/10 would recommend Rendon! Our air conditioner went out 11 days ago and we were going through our warranty to get it fixed. They sent out some shady companies & ultimately couldn't locate the part to get our AC fixed timely. My husband contacted Rendon on Friday and they obtained the part and were at our house Monday morning (today!) to fix the AC. They were timely, friendly, and very helpful! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and having our AC fixed was a high priority, and it was clear it was a priority to Rendon as well. My AC stopped working suddenly. With a 4 month old in a heat wave, it was critical to fix it. David Rendon called me same day and tried to arrange immediate service (A+++) When that didn't work for me, we agreed to a time interval the following day. He showed up and fixed my unit in 20 minutes in spite of an emergency on his end. This was a warranty call, and home warranty companies are notorious for shafting the vendors, which sometimes causes vendors to take it out on the client. Not with David. I completely understand Rendon Heating and Air being unavailable because they are booked up. We live in an area with very hot summers, and a lot of people have HVAC issues. No problem at all. My issue is with how this business spoke to me. I told Rendon Heating and Air that I was worried because we were about to go through a heat wave without air conditioning and my wife is 30 weeks pregnant. Our pregnancy is a high risk pregnancy. In response to this information Rendon Heating and Air told me "look man we're booked up for weeks, everybody has dogs, everybody has little kids, everybody has problems". Again I completely understand being booked up for weeks. The "everybody has problems" part was a strange thing to say, and I was looking right at my pregnant wife while he said it, knowing that the heat wave was coming. read more

But David was able to fit our house into one of his technicians, Lupe. Every interaction with both David and Lupe was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. David Technician installed the thermostat before calling the insurance company. Then I found out it wasn't covered it was already installed. I had no choice so I paid him. Technician and David's hostility is what got me going. I just told him that it (our heater) still wasn't working after new thermostat. He said I called 10 times which was a lie. I called three times trying to save him a trip. I was trying to explain to him about it wasn't the new thermostat that wasn't working it was that my heater was still having the original issue. UPDATED FACTS: Also sent you emails There are always two sides to this matter. David you and I were not there, You choose to believe your technician. I choose to believe my husband. My husband is 81 years old and wears hearing aids. It may appear that he is yelling he just talks loudly. (I attempted to explain this to you during our conversation. You chose not to hear it) The one thing I know for sure is my husband is NOT a liar. Your technician installed the thermostat prior to informing my husband that our Home Serve coverage did not cover the thermostat replacement. Since ours was old my husband paid the $250. My husband admits he did get upset because you and your technician dismissed his repeated calls trying to explain to you that replacing the thermostat did not fix our original issue. Brand New thermostat in off position. Heater fan periodically comes on have to unplug from outlet. Your unprofessional conversation with me went from bad to worse. You bad mouth the company that you are contracted with. Told me you would hit my husband. Threatening me that if I stop payment on the $250 check "you will get your money you know where I live"! Saw their ad on Facebook. Stood out to me because all of the other ads looked the same, an a/c unit, a van, etc. and Rendon's was a picture of their family. Simple but said something to me. Gut feeling told me to send a message to see if I could have our a/c unit looked at. David, the owner, messaged me back ASAP and scheduled to come out Saturday around noon. Checked out our unit, taught me a few things I should know. We needed a new filter and he even drove down the street to pick up one for us. Service = 5 stars. He went above and beyond by making a simple attic fan repair and changing the cold air return filter, which he supplied to us at his cost, receipt provided. Our heat was shutting off, seemingly randomly, and we submitted a request through our home warranty to have this resolved, and Rendon Heating & Air was the company that was contracted. Rendon fit us in the earliest possible availability and came out on a Friday to attempt to fix the issue with our furnace. Within a few minutes the technician, Chris, had addressed the issue, discussed what he did, and went on his way. I was happy with how he performed and also how he explained what he thought was the issue. Part of the solution was based upon my description of what I had noticed happening. So we were happy it was resolved so quickly. Unfortunately, the same issue came back that following evening and I messaged Rendon the following morning (a Saturday) to see if they knew what else might be happening. I was a little bummed that the issue recurred but also realized that their solution was at least partially based upon my description of something I had noticed. The issue I described might have been partially to blame for entire problem, so was something that had to be addressed. So I do not fault the technician for possibly missing a different or larger issue. Rendon replied early the next workday (Monday) and we scheduled for just two days later, which was entirely reasonable to me, especially during Thanksgiving week. The same technician, Chris, came out early and helped fix the main issue and were on their way only after staying around a bit longer and having a second technician, the owner David, stop by to verify the fix. We were not charged for second service call, which honestly might have been justified. I really appreciated that they quickly set up a second visit, including having David stop by, resolved the issue, and then explained to me the main issue that they addressed. Lastly, both Chris and David were friendly and responsive during all communications over texts or in person. I would highly recommend Rendon Heating & Air. read more

My AC went out 4 days ago and through my home warranty I was referred to 2 prior vendors, the first one couldn't come out for 9 days and the 2nd one simply wouldn't return calls (mind you it's in the high 90s) - so I called my warranty company back and they then directed my service call to Renton, who literally called me within 30 minutes and was at my house less than 30 minutes later. The repairman was so nice and knowledgeable and my AC will be repaired tomorrow (needed part).
