I had a 9 AM appointment today, 9 AM came and went with no technician. A very contrite technician called me said that he could be there later on. I said 5 o'clock was good for me. He said I'll have to call you back and let you know if that "works for me"... I got a call from the office saying that they would not be able to come out until Monday morning, I stated that would not work as I cleared my schedule and wanted somebody to keep their obligation for today. I got calls from two other people the last one being Carlos. Everyone except for Carlos was controlled and willing to help as as they could. Carlos stated that he could come out today but it would be $150 and he could not do the scheduled maintenance for that that would have be another $85 next week. I said that was not gonna work for me, he said OK he can come out for $85 but not do the maintenance again stated that would not work for me. As I did not make the mistake and I was willing to change the time of a little bit in order to make the appointment happen for today. Again, Carlos double down, stating that he was not going to do the maintenance today, but he would come out. Spoke to Blanca who was very professional and gave me a time and later called me back to confirm an earlier appointment, which I very much appreciated. Kyle came to diagnose the issue; it was a clogged pipe which he fixed right away. I appreciate him taking the time to explain the problem. Talk about peace of mind! Tex cam out yesterday morning to look at the condenser unit. Me being a previous HVAC tech. I asked him how long his been doing it he said three years. So still very new in the field. I already had an idea what it was because I was an havc tech myself before I started working in new construction plumbing. I suspected that it had a burnt up condenser fan or a capacitor or both. But I let him just do his thing. After finishing mowing the front lawn, I checked on him. He had it running and was testing the fan, which means that he had a new capacitor on hand. Also keep in mind I live with my disabled mother as she needs AC ! So I continue to let him do his thing, of course, and start mowing the back lawn after I was done mowing the back lawn. He still was not done, so I continue to do other chores around the house as it was my day off. After a while, he comes and grabs me and tells me it's what I suspected, but he can't officially tell me what's wrong with it due to customer confidentiality which is something I've never heard before and told me he had to get an OEM part said he didn't know if he'll ever be able to get me running or what's going to happen and just left. Not a very nice feeling to be left in this gray area. Not a thing a ruff guess or estimation or explanation of the process it seemed like he got a little nervous and wasn't sure of himself. I guess he's still new but your supposed to be the professional and if your out on your own then you need to be able to close properly with your customers wether it's the owner or the tenants leave them informed and with confidence that you'll be back to fix it. Especially if he had it running and another capacitor on hand. The proper way would've immediately at that time replaced the capacitor because most the time they do have a few on had and had system running temporarily until the new fan was procured and replaced now it's going to be 90 today and I have a disabled senior citizen to be concerned about this is disappointing read more

Generally, I have bad luck hiring contractors. Austin's is the serious exception. They were on time, efficient, and downright nice! Our A/c went out when it was 98 degrees out. I'm disabled, and the heat really messes with me, so I called Austin's because it came up first in a Google search. I called on a Sunday afternoon and got a call back to schedule for Monday -- the next day. All through the process, every employee treated me with respect and concern, and they "got it" about my concerns. All the way through the process, from troubleshooting to final inspection, I didn't have to do anything else. I had the team at Austin, heating and air come out to clean the ducts in my house. My husband and son both have allergies, as well as asthma that have gotten worse over the years. So I thought this might be helpful for them both. What I didn't expect was the fact that our downstairs is warmer than ever! We have lived in this house for seven years and have continuously tried to keep the downstairs area warm in the winter. We have vaulted ceilings so I attributed our problem to that. in the process of them cleaning the ducts, they also serviced the furnace. Walking down stairs this morning it wasn't freezing. This place needs some education. We had Jose come out to our rental property in June. He said our closed air conditioning system was pulling air from the attic and low on r-22 refrigerant. He filled it up a pound and we started getting at least cool air from the system. Then on Sunday Sept 6th,the day it got to 115 degrees in Vacaville our air died again. Austin's was called and didn't offer us emergency service because he was busy and no other people were in town. The 24/7 boast by the company is not truly offered. Victor Contacted us after 7 and we reported the issue at 6. He didn't arrive till after 9 am the next day. After replacing a blown fuse he had issues with balancing the lines and had to refill our closed system with more r-22 refrigerant. Told us their was a leak inside the house since he couldn't find a leak outside. Run from this place!! 2 emails have been sent for follow ups with no reply. read more

Received estimates from replacing A/C unit an ducting.....Austin's estimate came in with high efficiency 16 SEER Trane unit....cost $800 additional, but PGE rebate of $1100 offset. Did not know condition of Ducting if really required replacement.....Carlos, entered the crawl space under the house....only person to do this...that impressed me. As he inspected additional area, noted that the return air plenum was to small an restricting air flow back to furnace.... Agreed to estimate.....no money down requested. Five Austin employees came Thur. noon Fri. were complete.....outside company came and pressure tested ducting system for less that 5% leakage......Final city inspection complete. The day of installation they arrived on time and quickly began. if I could give them 10 stars I would. I had a new unit installed 8 years ago by all weather heating and air. My air went out again this year and after calling them for a diagnostic, I was told my unit was no longer under warranty because I did not have it serviced yearly by them, even when they came out last year to fix a problem I was never told if I didn't have it yearly serviced and my unit went out my warranty would be void. I was given a estimate over 2k to fix it, even after calling them to see if they could work with me on the price, never to receive a return call, I called another company (RNA) given another estimate for more than 2K. My daughter told me to call Austin, when I did Jean suggested I call the manufacturer because it didn't seem right, I did and was told my unit was still under warranty, even without me showing him the email Carlos came out made 1 call to Bryant and found out my unit was under warranty, ordered the part and fixed my air within 2 days. In hindsite I am thankful neither one of the other companies had the part with them because I would have paid the 2K because it was so hot. I would recommend Austin above anyone else, I am thankful there are still companies that will go above and beyond to help you. I would not bother calling anyone other than Austin heating and air to come out for my unit even if it was for another estimate.
