MyKalah who goes by kalah did not do a good job, doing my hair, after I communicated with her, she left my hair to bright yellow. Went for the first time a few weeks ago to get my eyebrows done before our vacation. I started the day in a quiet area with a cup of tea. Then I had an amazing collagen facial with Jennifer. The room was so peaceful, and the lighting was perfect and relaxing. The facial was amazing and my face is glowing. I then had a massage with Esmeralda. She was open to what areas I needed working on and the pressure she applied was perfect! I would just like to clarify this review is ONLY of Tiffany. As soon as I got to my car, I broke out into tear because of the "trim" she game me. The right was my hair the day before my cut and the left is after. I told her "just the ends, no more than an inch". I just started embracing my curls and I cannot believe she just chopped them all off without hesitation. YEARS OF GROWTH GONE. When I said I didn't want to schedule another appointment because now I needed to grow my hair out, she did not even apologize or seem interested in my distress one bit. I go to Rene's day spa each visit to see my brother in Modesto. I was treated to a full day of spa treatments paid for by my brother, William Marr. I take full time care of our mother (alz/dem) so he is my Angel when mom and I go to visit him. The young lady (new out of school) that did my hair style was So wonderful. The Pedicure was A NIGHT MARE and I hope the person is no longer employed there. She left me in water for 45 minutes and told me she was going to use a RAZOR BLADE ON MY FEET.... It's illegal. She stated she had no pumas stones so I told her "NO BLADE" - after exchange of words in front of many witnesses she told me my feet were very bad aloud (she was aware of this prior to beginning) and said she "I just can't do this" and "to get my shoes and leave." She took pictures of my feet before she started. Her behavior was VERY OUT OF CALIBRE FOR THIS SPA. I have never had anyone treat me so poorly ANYWHERE. And I have been a faithful customer at Renee's for many years and I come from 5 hours away. I was so embarrassed. After this episode as always I had my facial- SHE IS SO WONDERFUL TO ME EVERYTIME I SEE HER!!! She was appalled for the entire spa to have such a bad experience. The front desk made sure that I would not be charged for the pedicure and they will be sure I have a credit waiting next time for a pedicure. I am glad to have this SOMEWHAT resolved but my brother William Marr was very shocked that RENE herself DID NOT REACH OUT FOR THIS TERRIBLE Pedicure And OFFER a full BEBACK DAY OF SPA For me. I bought some gift cards from this place thinking i would treat my self to a nice me time. Trying to to book an appointment with them can be challenging. First to time I tried, they asked me to call back as the person that books the appointments is not there. 2nd time: Took my information because the person that books them is not there. When trying to call back and confirm that my appointment was booked I was put on hold. Which is fine, except that the " music" that they have is the sound a fax machine trying to connect which is not pleasant too hear while you are on hold. Then they pick up the phone hand hang up on me. I think they really need some re training on customer service. Their prices are on the high side and the "above and beyond costumer service" is expected when your massage is $250 plus a tip. read more

My partner and I were visiting from out of state. The massage was amazing for both of, but we were extremely surprised to find how racist our pedicure lady was. I live in Hawai'i and I am an Asian American. She asked me if we had any "ching Chong salons" where I live. I asked her to repeat herself and she said that everyone in the salon calls those "discount Asian nail salons" that, and they aren't as nice as the salon here. (What a trashy thing to say). I told her that was a racist statement and felt extremely uncomfortable. My partner gets his pedicure after and notified me that she out of the blue asked him if he knew that "Trump was making a comeback" he didn't want to engage and she kept on repeating herself. Honestly, being an Asian American and knowing someone who has a blatant disrespect for other ethnicities shocked me. We will not be coming back nor referring anyone to get services there. Okay here goes. My husband purchased a European Spa day package for me as a gift after my baby was born. It was quite pricey but would have been worth it if the services were on point. Unfortunately they were not. Here was my experience First off the robe they gave me did not fit and I spent the day trying not to show the whole spa my underwear. The shoes were too small and hard to walk in. I was to have a manicure and pedicure. I have no nails and thus chose to only have a pedicure. (Wasted money) It was the worst experience!!!! She spent most of the time talking to the owners daughter who sat in a pedicure chair next to me about a bachelorette party which the owners daughter then felt the need to show me pictures of penis cakes. Really? I had to listed to their conversations about getting drunk, making penis cakes and doughnut hole ball gags for this party. I was disgusted and uncomfortable. I just had a baby and wanted to relax for $250. Every time she would talk to her she would not even be touching my feet. At one point she swiveled around to talk with another gal getting her nails done. The owner of Verona's restaurant and had her back completely turned to me. She basically refused to give me shellac when I asked to upgrade and the polish she put on my toes looked terrible and chipped off in one day. I gave her a tip to be courteous but I'm wishing I hadn't. And it'll be a long while before I get that cake out of my head. Moving on to the lunch which they served next. It was catered from Verona's which tasted fine however I was not hungry and I sat in a dark room by myself at a dining table eating a lunch I didn't want staring at a wall. It was weird. Then they gave me a massage right after eating. The massage was okay I had Mattea as my therapist. Poor girl was sick and had to keep stopping to blow her nose. It was less than relaxing to hear and I felt sorry for her. The massage wasn't the best I've had but it was decent. If you just want a relaxing rub down and don't care for any actual knots worked on then it was fine (accept the nose blowing) and the bed was nice and warm which I liked but huge dust bunnies in the corners and a water feature that wasn't even plugged in. They shouldn't make massage therapists work when they are sick. I'm lucky I didn't catch it and get my 3 month old sick. Now for the facial. The facial was AMAZING! I had Jennifer as my esthetician. She did an amazing job it was SO relaxing and my skin looked amazing for days after. The package said you could add on a shampoo and blow dry but when I asked no one was available to do it. After tips it cost $250. If you ask me I spent $250 on a facial because that was the only thing I enjoyed. I tried to make the best of it since didn't want my husband to feel bad about his sweet gift but I'm very disappointed. This was a once in a lifetime thing and it fell flat. That being said I do really recommend Jennifer and would love to go have a facial from her again. I just don't know that I want to go there again though. NEVER would I EVER get another pedicure there. That was the worst pedicure I've ever had in my life. I felt like she paid me no attention talking to the owners daughter the whole time accept to scold me for going barefoot a lot at home. Being licensed myself, I've had many salon and spa services in the past at many different locations. Sometimes "fancy" may not be better. For me, it all comes down to how comfortable you are made to feel & the services and skills of the technicians themselves. I had been to the old smaller location, and this review is for the new, bigger location. The new location has a full service salon & spa under one roof where you can get hair treatments, massages, facials, body treatments & manicures and pedicures. My mom and mother in law had a full spa day. I had 4 services today which I would rate as follows: Massage (3 stars) Facial (3 stars) Haircut, style and blowout (4 stars) Lunch at the spa. (5 stars) The scheduling of so many services for 3 people took about 35 minutes. :| I registered and was instructed to change into a robe and was shown my locker in the bathroom area and then shown the "quiet area" where I met up with my mom and mother in law. There was tea and water available, but I didn't have a chance to grab any because I was quickly swooped up by the massage therapist. The Massage I wanted a "pre-natal" massage at 27 weeks pregnant but I couldn't tell you who did my massage because she never gave me her name. A younger gal with dark hair, holding and drinking from a cup took me to the room and the first thing she said to me was "oh my goodness you look so big, you look like you're about to pop." I jokingly told her that there would be no popping today, and that I still had 13 weeks to go. Believe me if I didn't feel good about myself before the massage, before I had to lay on a massage table slightly naked and pregnant, that comment really built great rapport with me. She just didn't seem very "spa-ish" I was never offered a cup of water, and her little side-bar comments were not necessary. The massage was done on my side, and on my back. They didn't have that little pillow/table set up where you can safely lay faced down. It was just an ok massage. It seemed "uneven". She massaged my left side a certain way and then didn't do the same thing to my right side. The room was about 10 degrees warmer than the other rooms which got really unpleasant at one point I asked the massage therapist if she could make it cooler, which she couldn't. The spa side of Renee's is located closer to Mchenry avenue. So I could hear sirens, traffic and the usual Mchenry Avenue noise during the massage. After the massage we had lunch at the table next to the "quiet room". The Lunch The lunch was brought in and prepared by Verona's located in McHenry Village, all coordinated by the spa. We had a nice table set up with waters, sparkling juice, linens, silverware and plates. I got to eat lunch and visit with my mothers. We ordered chicken marsala, chicken Caesar salad, and salmon salad. It was all really nice. And once we finished our lunch we waited in the quiet room located next to McHenry Ave... the irony. The Facial My technician Jennifer was nice and escorted me to her facial room. Her facial massages were very good and relaxing. But I was a bit dissapointed with several things during my facial. I told her she could remove all of my makeup including my mascara. But after the whole service she never touched my eyes, so I got out of the facial looking like a raccoon. I came from the school of thought that as a technician you never leave the room during the facial, especially when a client had steam pointed at the client. Jennifer started the steam and several minutes after, I heard her whisper "give me just a minute" and stormed out the door after telling me I could just "continue to relax". I'm pretty sure she answered her cell phone while in the room with me and took the conversation outside and left me there with the steam going. (This is the 2nd facial from Renee's where they leave the room with the steam running on you.) About a minute after she left the room, the air conditioning kicked on and the steam which was pointed at my face kind of just disappeared into the air. About a minute after that the steam completely turned off. Seems she forgot to set the timer for a long enough period to accommodate her "break". The other thing that was strange was that when she later returned and was putting more stuff on my face, there were people coming in and out of the room getting stuff. It was disruptive. And lastly her towels were not prepped. She would run the water for a minute to get the water hot and drench the towel, sort of ring the towel out and apply it to my face dripping wet. It could have been a great facial. The products smelled amazing, her facial massage moves were good, but it was missing a neck and shoulder massage. Hair Services The hair services were done by Jaclyn. Jaclyn was eager to please & courteous. I can't stop raving about Britney Ruiz! I got my first Brazilian wax with this body hair artist and had the best experience ever. I walked in super nervous and scared. Britney walked me through the process and did breathing exercises with me the whole time. I loved the experience and my fear is gone! I felt so comfortable and relaxed during the whole process.
