the 1 stars I'm giving is for the lady who did my nails, and friendliness of some staff. I made 2 appointments at this place back to back one for hair color, and one for a hair updo. my hair color appointment was at 10:00am on a wednesday. when I got there (after a 30 minutes drive) they informed me that the girl who is supposed to do my color called out sick. they were not able to accommodate me with anyone else either that day ( and THANK GOD for that). I let it go and thought it happens, and I'm going to give them another chance. my next appointment was on Saturday for a hair updo. I also wanted my nails done, and they were kind enough to squeeze me in for it (not a mani-pedi, just nail polish). the lady who did my nails was very nice, and did a great job. I loved it. but the woman who did my hair did an absolutely TERRIBLE job. I asked for something very simple. and she couldn't even deliver that. when she realized I'm not happy with my hair she started giving me an attitude, and told me "you don't know what you want".... seriously???? only one hour after I left the Salon my hair started falling apart. I was veryyyyyyy unhappy. I do NOT recommend this place. read more

I've been going to Renew Salon for a few years now, you definitely get executive services without the executive prices. Grace is my hair stylist and she's is so great with cut and color! And super sweet. I often bring my young kids with me and the staff is always so attentive and accommodating. I enjoy going and I feel very at home. I had just moved to NJ and had gone to the same stylist in RI for over 10 years so I was very hesitant to go to a new hair salon. Before making an appointment I read reviews online and also purchased a yelp deal at Renew. I booked an appointment with Lisa, a senior stylist who was very professional and friendly, as was the entire staff. I had highlights, lowlights and a cut. I was in NJ visiting my in-laws and was in dire need of a pedicure. I didn't have a clue as to where to go and I've always been a little leery of new pedicure places because I can't always be certain about the level of cleanliness. I thought I'd check out Renew Salon and Spa based on other Yelp reviews and boy, was I happy! Grace, who did my pedicure, did a fantastic job and she went out of her way to make me comfortable. My daughter (14 yrs old) and I thought it was time we try a new salon - we are so happy we did!! This is the first salon I've been to in years that I didn't feel like I was stuck in a reality show! Few months ago, I went to get a haircut at a salon that doesn't specialize in curly hair. Big mistake. Last week, I decided to try the Renew Salon and Spa to fix my curls. I was told that Jeanine was certified in deva cuts. The whole experience was wonderful. I can't remember the last time my curly hair looked this good. Jeanine cut it while it was dry, curl by curl. She listened to what I was looking for and gave some of her own suggestions which was great. She also gave me some great tips on how to style my hair. I thought the prices were also very reasonable. I've been here once for a massage and NEVER AGAIN!! The gentleman who massaged me was anything but gentle! My back hurt more when I left than when I got there! He was so rough I felt tense the whole time and did not feel relaxed. I believe his name was Ryan, although he was reluctant to give his name. Very strange personality as well. I can tell he goes there just for the paycheck. I see good reviews on haircuts...I may come back for a haircut only. But not for massage..I'd rather do chinese torture. read more

Awesome experience! I have not had my hair professionally colored for longer than I care to admit to :) and I totally enjoyed the experience and result from Renew Spa. Welcomed warmly, offered something to drink throughout my visit, and everyone was very friendly. They were efficient, but not rushed. I got highlights done yesterday with Jeanine. I LOVE LOVE them. I went in not knowing exactly what to ask for so I was glad Jeanine had a color in mind. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's a golden brownish color. Very pretty especially for the summer. And this will look good as my hair grows out. read more

Had a facial done by Zenia and it was a wonderful experience. She was very sweet, professional and knowledgable. She walked me through each step of the process and was very accommodating to my requests. My skin looked fabulous and glowing afterwards. She had a gentle hand with the extractions too. I've been a client of Kristin A.'s before she worked at Renew Salon, and I was very pleased when I went there for the first time last month. Even though Renew is MUCH farther away from my home than the salon she used to work at, everyone there was so friendly that I didn't mind making the trip down there. The atmosphere is very nice and much cozier than I'm used to. I'm used to salons that are very modern, very expensive, and the employees usually have horrible attitude problems. That is not the case at Renew. If you are looking for a great colorist/stylist, I highly recommend Kristin A., she's the best. I've gone through MANY stylists and salons all over NJ and some in Manhattan as well before finding Kristin and I couldn't be happier. I have a lot of hair, it's thick and hard to manage. Although I feel bad that I will probably be responsible for giving her epicondylitis from blowing out my hair, I will keep using her. She does a better job on my hair than anyone ever has. read more

I had a Deva cut today with Jeanine and it was absolutely amazing. Sure, it takes a little longer than regular hair cuts, but it's well worth it. She is so friendly and takes the time to talk to you about your hair and what should be done with it. And the rest of the staff is so incredibly friendly. I would recommend them in a heartbeat for any curly girl or anyone else for that matter! read more

I have been going to Renew for years and have always been happy, but yesterday Anna and Orlando truly out did themselves. My daughter had her junior prom and went to Anna for an up-do. It came out exactly as she wanted! Next she went to Orlando for makeup. He applied just the right amount, not too much and just enough to make her eyes pop and her skin to look natural and amazing! Go to Anna for a great cut. You won't regret it. She is friendly, professional and a super hair stylist. I have thick, unmanageable hair, and she knows just how to make it look good. Price isn't too bad either. I have had a Brazilian Blowout which was done by Kristen and she did a great job with that. It lasted awhile too. Enjoy! read more

I had my hair done in an updo by Grace and makeup done by Orlando for a party that I was hosting a few weeks ago. It was my first visit to the salon and had a great experience. Grace did a great job with my hair and the make up done by Orlando came out amazing. The make up held through the entire night. I received so many compliments by everyone at the party. Anna was absolutely amazing! I have very heavy, curly hair (but when brushed out it becomes wavy). She understood everything I was looking for in the haircut and explained everything she was doing, which I loved. At first, I was hesitant about the cut because I'm not used to letting my curly hair actually act the way it wants, but the cut she gave me keeps it all under stylish control. I'm so thrilled and I'm definitely coming back. Also, I got the deep conditioning treatment and my hair feels especially soft and strong several days later. read more

I've been coming here for a few years for color and cut. As others have said everyone is warm and welcoming at Renew ..makes each appointment a pleasure. As far as the services go, I've been happy with the results, I would say with the color: 99.9%, cut: maybe 80%. The stylist (who also does my color)..I feel, does not always listen to or remember what I want. I let my hair grow from a pixie cut in the last few months and have been dissatisfied with the 2 cuts I've gotten since. Part of the problem is that the stylist does not appreciate clients bringing a picture of a style or cut..(never had this issue with prior stylists). My dilemna is I would like to continue with Renew but change stylist. Have to give this more thought...perhaps discuss with the owner. read more

I went to this salon several months ago and was quite displeased with the outcome of my hair color. I explained what I was looking for and showed the stylist a picture and it came out nothing like it. Both the owner and the stylist kept asking me what sort of color I wanted, semi-permanent or permanent. I have been coloring my hair for years and have never been asked this question. I assumed, based on the description of what I wanted, they being the experts should know which is best. I was utterly confused by their description of each type of color, as I have not been to hair school, so felt insecure in my choice. Not only that, but the highlights were chunky and the color bled leaving splotches of color throughout my hair. I felt the experience was tense and unenjoyable. I did not want them to redo the color, as I was apprehensive of them making further mistakes in the future. I am quite particular about my hair. I wasted a good deal of money there and ended up driving an hour to my old stylist paying him to correct their mistakes. read more
