I had the worst experience, at first I thought everything was great and my husband and I were very excited. We had just bought our home and we were very selective about the company we wanted to work with. After we close the deal, we signed our contract, they ran our credit, got out financing and paid our deposit. The people from Renewal by Andersen at the Crawford office are horrible and Rob the sales rep, terrible. They cancelled our contract out of no where after 45 days and refunded our money. Our sales rep Rob said they had new people in the office and he would look into it and get back. He never called. No one ever did, they wasted out time, tan our credit and did nothing for us. I just experienced the same 3 hour sales pitch from a very pleasant and courteous but somewhat loquacious sales rep. He did convince me that the product is excellent and there's a fair chance I will get a competent installation crew. My issues: $ 70,000 for 17 windows (2 days labor included) AFTER applying the a 25% discount? I hope my living in a nice neighborhood did not influence this pricing. The final "discount for signing today" pitch is somewhat insulting to intelligent buyers who can afford this product. I have had an extremely frustrating experience with Renewal by Andersen based in Cranford, NJ. My sales representative was more interested in talking about his personal life than getting me the clear answers that I need regarding costs, installation, etc. A period of 8 weeks went by with no communication from Andersen despite by efforts to reach out via phone, email, call center, etc. Out of the blue, with no notification or communication, Renewal by Andersen canceled my contract and refunded my money - and I still have not been able to get an explanation why. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and now have to start over with another vendor on windows after 2 months of time wasted. read more

They do have a nice looking window, but the performance numbers are unremarkable. Sales tactics are like something out of Tin Men. Salesguy spent a lot of time bashing the competition, telling me how successful he was as a salesman, and trying to steer the conversation away from anything quantifiable. Vinyl is bad - but "Fibrex" is awesome! (Wait - isn't fibrex just vinyl mixed with sawdust?) He wouldn't give us a written estimate - just scribbled his outlandish numbers on a pad, with no copy for us. $46k for a normal sized colonial home. But wait - we'll take off 10%! Sign right now, and we'll take off another 15%! Tell you what I'm gonna do - sign now, and we'll make it an even $32k. One time only. If I walk out of here the offer is off the table forever. This is clearly why they want husband and wife present - their only hope for a sale is at that point only. Any comparison to other providers will seriously lessen the likelihood of a successful sale. The last thing they will do is to inform you of the mandatory 3 day cooling off rule - and try to use that consumer protection tool as a means to get you to sign. It's like dealing with Ricky Roma. I ended up with a window with higher performance ratings, from a known local contractor, for less than half of their best "sign now" price. There are lots of options. We had a 3 paned flat window installed about a year ago. Since then we have noticed a few leaks. The first one was Spotted when the window was 11 months old. (Thought it was our roof at first) While the customer service is great in scheduling techs to come out and look at it (which is why it's 2 stars and not 1) this should not be happening in the first place with a NEW window giving how expensive the product is. read more

We just had a new front window installed by Renewal By Andersen. I will say that the two gentlemen who did it, Slawek and Tomek, were professional, skilled, and hard working. They came on time, worked non-stop and did a great job.The finished product looks beautiful and is great quality. I will echo the sentiments of those on this site that the sales pitch is exhausting and simply TOOOOO LOOONG. They were literally in our home 4 hours. The salespeople need to be a bit more sensitive to the customers cues that it is taking too long. Maybe it's a ploy...you have so much time invested that you don't want to say "no" and we fell for it :-). I would recommend the business--with the caveat of clearly setting a time limit for the sales pitch and asking for Slawek and Tomek on instillation. i also was offered a very concise description of my options ( yes it took a while)I live in a 1928 co-op and I am very glad the company policy is to make sure the prospective customer is comfortable with potential choices. I just got my new windows replaced by Pat and Chris and I couldn't be happier. The sales rep Mike, the measurer (sorry I don't remember his name) and the installers Pat and Chris were very professional, punctual and clean. They were very careful with my house and my belongings. After the install they give me a tour of the job and explained all my questions and concerns. About the windows itself the price is not the most economical one, but if you are looking for a window that last long, has the higher energy efficiency , and don't deteriorate fast, Andersen is the window of choice. I'm not an engineer or even close of that, but I can see the difference between a good product and a bad product, I'm not saying the other brands are bad just made with inexpensive technology and materials, that's it. This company is the worse at customer service. Since day 1 of the installment process has been a nightmare. No confirmation call or text reminder sent the day before the appointment. Installers showed up at a different time and nobody informed us about this. We were told that we did not have to make a payment until windows were installed. Guess what?? We were billed for the first monthly payment. Since the process has started nobody has been able to helped us out. We wanted to stop the purchase and we were told that it was not possible. Once someone comes to repair a window and makes the report to the company, somehow nobody has an idea about who came to your house. They don't know what I'm talking about. This company train their employees to persuade the customers so they can make a profit. The sales representatives puts you under pressure and you feel forced to make the purchase. As a new homeowner you want the best for your house, but this was the biggest mistake we ever made. Once you signed their contract, they totally forget about customer service professionalism. No one seems to care about their customers concerns or complains. Every time I have called for a complaint I get transferred to so many people and nobody helps out. Every phone call ends up with "you will receive a call back" but no one calls back. It has been 7 months and I'm still waiting on the call back. I have sent 2 letters to corporate and they still not getting back to me. Windows by Andersen just cared about the profit of every contracted signed by their customers. Everything is based on lies and peer pressure is their best option to trapped customers. The employees are very rude and unprofessional. Their products might be made of good materials but it's ridiculous expensive. I wish I never made this decision. I don't know how this business still running. I'm very disappointed. My wife and I first contacted Andersen last year to begin replacing all of the windows in our home. We had a lot of windows to replace, so our salesperson helped us to break our project out into phases. The installers just completed the last phase of our project and we are thrilled with the work. Yes, the windows were expensive. However, you can see the difference in the look and quality. We have an old house and had original wood windows. Even though our old windows were drafty, we put off replacing them for a long time because my wife hated the look of vinyl windows. Our new windows look great and have eliminated the drafts. Overpriced drafty windows! Had windows installed in august, first winter, techs were out 3 times. The windows on the side of your house that get the prevailing winter winds do not fair well. After a couple of failed attempts to stop the draft in a large slider picture window, they realized it was bowed, and a new window was ordered, problem solved! By then it was spring. The double hung vertical windows were rigged with caulk and some rubber grommets in the bottom corners that should have resolved the air infiltration, but didn't. Winter # 2, the rigged vertical double hung windows again are drafty. Service tech comes out, gives it his best shot, to no avail. After several failed attempts to contact the distract manager of NJ/NY, I finally found a very helpful customer service agent. I received a call back within the hour from the manager. He was very condescending, telling me that drafts were normal. After going back and forth with him in not such a nice manner, he is going to order a new window and have it installed. Lets see if this will resolve the problem. This will be the second window in 2 years that will have to be replace because of drafts. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from this company. Find a reputable contractor, you can save yourself thousands. read more

JUST BUYER BE AWARE. We had this installer come to our home to quote replacing 4 double french doors and 1 single door (original to our 30 year old home) at the back exterior of our house. The existing French doors were in very good shape, but opening them or leaving them open took up too much floor space. We wanted them replaced using Anderson sliding doors w/ the same look as the existing French Doors. I think very highly of the Anderson product and after 30 years all of our double hung windows are in great shape. Their salesman came out and after measuring the job & prepared a quote for us on the spot of $36,665. to supply and install. We were flabbergasted by this number. When my husband excused himself for a minute, the salesman tried to pressure me into signing the contract, and he would give us a 10% discount . I made it clear to him that we did not make such snap decisions & thanked him for the quote and that I would get back to him ASAP. We then visited our local lumber supply company (not the big box chain-store type) and asked them for a quote on their best quality Anderson "French door" sliders which included snap- in window panes & screens. We then asked for names of local master carpenters, that they dealt with, who did such installations. We spoke with one of them on the list & liked him a lot. The bottom line is that he supplied & installed the Anderson doors and sliders for $18,885.,(half the Anderson Renewal price!) doing an excellent job which included demo, disposal, delivery & handling of the materials & replaced them doing no damage to our interior walls or trim & no damage to our exterior Hardy Plank siding. We did call the salesman & thanked him for his time & quote. He never asked why we did not chose his company. We also donated salvaged parts of the old doors to Habitat for Humanity . Again, we do not have experience using this company, but wanted to advise of our positive outcome, taking a different route. Good luck with your window project! read more

I had several windows replaced by Renewal by Andersen a few months ago and have been very pleased with my experience. The installers were punctual and took care to lay down drop cloths and make sure our furniture was covered before beginning. I was happy with the installation, but I've really noticed the benefits of my new windows this winter. With the cold weather we've had, the reduction in drafts has been noticeable, especially compared with some of the windows that have not yet been replaced. We had several window companies out before making our decision. Although Renewal wasn't the cheapest, we are convinced that the quality is worth it. This time around the installation was a bit more complicated but the crew was extremely skilled and the end result came out amazing. It has been over a year since we replaced our patio doors, and I can honestly say it has meant an improvement in our quality of life. And it just doesn't get old. Our kitchen feels modern and airy, and we are proud to entertain on our deck and inside the house. We still have one patio door that we have not yet replaced, and let's just say the difference between the old door and the new doors is...dramatic. We do not use the old door anymore -- period. I've heard horror stories about home improvement companies, and I feel lucky that we had such a great experience. The installers covered my entire Trex deck with moving blankets so that the deck wouldn't be harmed during the installation. Renewal by Andersen was meticulous about putting up the trim around the doors. From a cleanliness standpoint, it's like they were never there.
