For years I've been watching Ducatis on the covers of magazines. I wanted to get a feel for it myself, never having been on one before. I've rented motorcycles before but none offered anything more aggressive or exotic in my area. So I searched online and after about 0.000009 seconds on google, I found Rent a Ducati. The owner, David, was approachable, informative and flexible from the start. The paperwork and payments were settled the night before and he was even willing to make last minute changes due to issues with my schedule. He met me early, around 8 am. I signed a few papers and I was on my way. The motorcycle was a bit worn with some cosmetic damage. It had seen a few track days at this point and its mileage showed that. But I didn't expect a new v4 panigale either. We inspected the motorcycle and everything looked satisfactory to me. Electronics were working, tires were good, and brakes were ready. After the inspection I was off. I'm going to spare you the details but if you've never been on a Ducati its a must have experience, it rides and sounds like a demon. I rode it for about 260 miles in a matter of a day. Best money I've spent in a while. The next day I returned the motorcycle and saw the deposit refund in my PayPal account. No issues for me. This "business" doesn't deserve 1 star. The only good review in 2018 came from a rider who happened to rent the only well functioning bike, the Diavel. I rented the same bike a week ago. I was handed a bike with a bald tire which was more than i could say for my other four friends who rented the rest of the Ducati fleet. Although David was given 3 months lead time, the 1199 we were expecting wasn't ready. We were given an 899 instead. We met David at a Starbucks and upon visual inspection the radials on the 821 Monster were showing. The 899 was literally held together by duck tape front and back. The 848 had virtually no brake bad. As a matter of fact the calipers were cutting grooves into the rotors and lastly the Multistrada has no key. We were given the pin code to enter every time you wanted to start the bike. If those were the only problems, i would be lying. All 5 bikes were rented for 2.5 days on day two. The rear brake pedal fell off the 848. David showed up 30 min later and took another 30 min to make the repair. Once that was done we took off on our ride. An hour later however the clutch pedal on the Multistrada which had been secured with safety wire just broke off or fell off. That was another hour long fix. Meanwhile, the clutch on the 821 Monster kept slipping possibly due to a useless spongy clutch lever. Frustrated we left rubber on the side of the road and returned our bikes timely in the exact same condition they were handed to us. In an attempt to make amends for the the inconvenience and dangers of the mechanical failures he excused the burnouts . It has been a week now and my buddies have yet to receive their $2000.00 deposit. Some of you may or may not know but the motorcycle community is very very small. It turns out his reputation for questionable business practices is known on both coasts! He has been chased out of his previous employer's company. He is well known by many in Ducati community for all the wrong reasons. As a rider i understand that motorcycles go through west and tear. However, if well maintained and professionally repaired bikes will withstand the test of time. David's bikes at Rentaducati are held together by duck tape and bubble gum. Rent from him at your own risk. Don't count on getting your deposit back or your rental to be mechanically sound. I have to give them a 1 star for couple of reasons. One: it doesn't tell you they don't have a physical location to go look at the bikes. You have to order the bike and pay and everything then they will bring the bike on the location and you get the bike. Two: I placed an order and I was excited to get the bike, then the night before at 9 pm I got a call that bike is not ready and still is under maintenance. They waited until 9 pm to let me know. Which was so inconvenience. I think they did it so I won't have an option of contacting another rental. So, they said they have to push it to next week. And the next week came and same thing. I got call at 9 pm and I was told the bike still is not ready. So when I said I don't want the bike and I asked for my money back. They tried to keep me by offering one extra day. So, I said no! And they said since I'm withdrawing my money they won't give me that extra day later if I want to rent a bike. It was just not a good experience that I had with them. Hopefully my review is helpful. Had high hopes for these guys since RacyRentals fell on its face. Booked the 899 Panigale, but it was still in service so my reservation was quickly changed to 1199 Panigale. No complaints there. A couple days before, David finds out the 1199 won't be fixed in time so I get downgraded to a 2008 848. A bit upsetting since I was dying to try out the Panigale but I was willing to accommodate since there wasn't any other option. The day before my reservation, David requests that I come in sooner to pick it up since he had his transport service cancel on him and had to therefore pick up a bike himself that evening. I was again willing to accommodate and left work early to get to him in time. As you see from other reviews, the pickup spot is actually a Starbucks parking lot in north Hollywood. A little sketchy and a bit of a wait until David comes by with the bike. He then informs me that he has an event tomorrow and would not be able to accept delivery until later in the evening. I again was willing to accommodate David and told him to me know when he'll be back. The following day I don't hear from him until 8 PM, letting me know that he won't be back until 1030PM. I suggested he come pick up the bike himself the following morning. The best part is that he wanted to charge me $75 for the pickup. He was convinced that he provided me with top of the line customer service, which I remain baffled by. In the end, he kept $30 which he was meant to refund me due to the downgrade. I don't have the energy to argue over pennies so happy birthday bud! read more

Hopefully this place is finally out of business but if it's not STAY AWAY!!! The bikes they offer for rent are run down to the point of being unsafe to ride. Bold tires, worn out brake pads. It's awful. David is extremely unprofessional and showed up to drop off our bikes over an hour past our scheduled meeting time. He was very unorganized. We were really unhappy with how poorly the bikes we rented were maintained but David offered no solution. Basically gave us a "take it or leave it" attitude. We ended up returning the bikes way before our scheduled return date because we simply did not feel safe riding them, especially long distance. If you're looking for a fun and enjoyable riding experience, don't let this place ruin it for you. Rent from someone else. All the positive reviews on here have to be friends and / or family. There is no way a person who knows anything about bikes would actually think the bikes offered by RentADucati are a good rental option. read more

I would never ever rent from this guy again. I was the worst experience ever. A nightmare! I should have realized something was shady when he didn't have a place of business to report to and, instead, delivered the bike to a parking lot at a Starbucks. Plus the bike was wrecked and not repaired when he delivered it. He asked for and received a $2000. deposit, which I gave him. He also charged me and I paid for a $29.99 per day for a collision damage waiver. He refused to return the deposit even though the bike was returned. After numerous emails and messages with a long list of evasive excuses with no accounting, I hired a lawyer who suggested I take him to court. The problem was no address for place of service. I ultimately had to hire a skip tracer to find him and his company agent and it finally got done with the Burbank Sheriff's office to serve him. I have yet to get my $2000 deposit refunded, much less my cost to sue him. Hopefully, taking him to court will get a resolution and my money back. I wonder how many others may have been taken advantage of this way. I would never use this company again ever! Just the worst. read more

Found myself coming to Santa Barbara for work and rented an 821 Monster for the day. Service from Rent a Duc was exceptional, David is a very nice guy and service and customer experience was good for me. Everything was on time and professional. The bike was great, new tires, clean and in good condition. The only issue with the bike I had was the clutch, which took a bit of getting used too. I found myself stalling the bike way too much and it made riding in traffic a bit more stressful than it should have been. (I've been riding for over 40 years and know how to ride, I'd not be happy with it if it was my own machine ) read more

No BS, no drama, no excuses, no extra charge. I appreciate that. Great communication on the pickup and excellent service on the return. For a very reasonable price they "Ubered" on over and got the bike. Reasonable. Nice. Professional. Good communication. No BS... I will be returning and referring. Maybe next time I am in town I can take advantage of some of their other longer-term rental deals. I don't have much experience in bike rentals, but the standard mileage allowance also seemed more than reasonable and there was an inexpensive unlimited miles option which I had no need for. Wow, there are some negative reviews here but I had a great experience with these guys. I visited LA in December 2017 and rented the Diavel. The bike was solid and without any problems. She had some miles on her but rode like a brand new bike. I did have to meet the guy at a local Starbucks but that was OK for me. You can have them deliver it right to your location too. Super good company to do business with. The service was top notch. I scheduled for a Multistrada to be delivered to my house in San Diego. The owner, David Johnson, personally delivered the bike and made sure that everything was in working order. David also made a point of keeping me updated on what time he would arrive and was very flexible to work around my schedule. They also picked up the bike from my house. There is a delivery and pick-up charge for this service but the price was very fair and I couldn't have done it for much less than what they charged. I would have given them a 5 star rating except for the age of the bike. It was much older than I was expecting - 9 years old and close to 100,000 miles. The surprising thing was that despite the age of the bike, it was clean and operated well. It was just missing some of the features that the newer multistrada's have. read more

During my first rental process I had some issues with the website taking my payment, however, David went out of his way to get the situation sorted out for me. The Panigale had a little damage from the previous renter but nothing major and David informed us of it before we picked it up. He gave me the option of another bike but I chose not to as I wanted to try the Panigale. We had a great day riding on the Angeles Crest Highway and would rent from this company again. Rented the Ducati 821 Dark to get from LA up to Bishop and back for a wedding. I flew into LAX. Had to change my flight at the last minute so I ended up arriving at the pick up spot much later than originally planned (11pm on a Friday night). David accommodated the change very graciously. Bike was great. David did a very good walkthrough when I picked it up. Had about 15k miles on it. Well maintained and ran very well. Dropping the bike off at the end of my trip was equally easy. DAVID IS A SCAM ARTIST. I rented a bike from him for a film project, which we had to pick up in a Starbucks parking lot. We had it picked up by our professional stunt driver, and placed on a trailer and delivered to our set. The bike was leaking fluid, and as soon as our driver took it for a test ride, the chain flew off. Our drivers professional opinion was to not use the bike at all even if it could be fixed at a nearby shop, because it is quite rare for a chain to snap like that and is a sign of long term abuse. We did not want to endanger the crew, so I called David and he assured me he would fully refund our rental and deposit on his defective bike. The bike was brought back to him on a trailer, and he emailed me so say he was sorry that we didn't get to use the bike, and offered us free rentals in the future. He did not return our two thousand dollar security deposit, or five hundred dollars in rental fees. I told him I did not want free future rentals, I just wanted my security deposit back and the rental fee to be returned. He was never heard from again! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOSER. read more

I rented a Panigale 899 while visiting my sister in the Orange County area for the first time. I had heard of the legendary canyon highways, and had to experience them for myself. First time on a sport bike, too. I ride a Suzuki sv650 at home. Dave's ducati was practically showroom condition and ran great. The paperwork was super easy, and all online. I picked it up from Drew at Superbike Corse. The guys there are super friendly and accomodating, and suggested a few cool places to visit.
