So - I'm also going to post a review on Seattle Emergency Physicians - with a simliar rating. I went to the ER - was told everything was covered, and never received a statement from SEP stating I owed them money. That was in February 2014. I started getting calls from Renton Collections in July 2014. It took four calls of having them yell at me to the point I hung up before I finally this Mrs Smith to tell me that it was for Seattle Emergency Physicians. They still call me about once a week. They leave voice mails - you know the type that usually come from an automated system "This message is for xxxx - if you're not xxxx - please hang up. If you don't hang up, you're acknowledging that you're xxxx" .. well, the problem is that it's not automated, and if you're taking to a freaking voice mailbox, how is leaving a voice mail ANY sort of consent / acknowledgement? Maybe I'll write a note saying that RCI owes me money, and adding to it saying, "By picking up this note and reading it, and by not calling me back to arrange for payment, you're admitting the debt." It's the same thing as what they're doing. If you're a company looking to use a collection service - don't use RCI. I won't deal with them, and in fact, have been in touch with Seattle Emergency Physicians to get this resolved. I will do what I need to do to add a letter / dispute with credit agencies like Experian and whatnot - I'd rather go that route than deal with these jack asses. read more

I asked if I could just give them my card number over the phone and she said no. She said $60 isn't enough to justify the bank fee to process my card. Really? Why make it difficult to pay? I called into Renton Collections to obtain information on how I can resolve any accounts I have in collections. The woman I spoke with was very rude, unprofessional and insulting. I asked her to give me the amounts of what I owed. After doing so i asked if my account qualified for a settlement. She said no, next I asked her what happens after I pay off the debts. She then went on about the settlement and why I did not qualify. I was confused being that she was rude and raising her voice at this point. Being I called in and was trying to pay off the accounts in collections. She then continued to talk about the settlement and went on and on about how I did not qualify. I had to let this woman know that I was did not care about the settlement and asked why she was still talking about it. she then asked if I wanted a round of applause for calling in a very rude sarcastic way. She continued to yell and insult me and told me she was going to put me on hold until I hung up. I asked to speak to a manager... DEAD AIR!!! I then called back two time and each time the receptionist put on hold for an obscene amount of time and then transferred me back to the same lady that claimed to be the supervisor. I am livid at this point and I see why a lot of people refuse to speak with collection agencies. Renton Collections violated consumer protection laws such as the FDCPA and the TCPA. I am a consumer advocate volunteer, and I witnessed personally how Renton Collections continued to collect on an alleged debt without verifying the alleged debt AFTER the alleged debt had been disputed, and verification had been requested. They also called on the phone AFTER they received a letter to cease and desist calling on the phone. If you are being chased by Renton Collections, do yourself a favor and research consumer protection laws regardless whether you truly owe the debt or not. Even if you do owe, they have to follow consumer protection laws, and if they don't then statutory damages may apply, and can be collected by the debtor. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. By far the most rude business I have ever spoken with. I called wanting to take care of a debt that I only discovered this week. It was from a car accident back in 2012 that somehow slipped through the cracks and should've been paid by my insurance claim at the time... it was only reported to my credit report in January of this year... 6 years later! I asked to speak with a manager to resolve the debt and was cycled through 3 extremely rude representatives before I got the manager. She was willing to settle my debt with a " one time offer" which I accepted but before I gave payment info I expressed my concerns with her about how rude her staff is and that I would be submitting a complaint with the better business bureau. When she heard this she immediately said she would not accept my payment settlement and I could just go ahead and complain and then she hung up on me. Absolutely awful people here. It's just so frustrating. I'm a kind person to a fault and it's just so hurtful that companies this rude even exist.. to be so rude to someone who just wants to pay them and have this done with is absolutely mind blowing to me... read more

Be suspect when paying this agency online. When you go to rentoncollections.com, there is an "Online Bill Pay" button which redirects to mypayrazr.com for payment. However, if you click on the Contacts page, you will notice the same "Online Bill Pay" button, but that one redirects to 123fastpay.com for payment. I was going to pay online, but was unclear which was correct processor. I did not want to pay, and find my payment not recorded because it went to the wrong processor. Or worse yet, they were hacked and the payment is going elsewhere? I wanted to clarify this, so I called Renton Collections. I asked this question in as clear and concise language as I could to the first one who answered, but she really had no idea what I was talking about. They forwarded me to another person. When that person finally picked up, she was extremely annoyed right at the beginning. I tried again to explain the issue with their site in clear and concise wording. This second person would only repeat "go to rentoncollections.com" and she was very nasty about it. I tried to explain again, but going nowhere. I asked directly who their payment processor was, mypayrazr.com or 123fastpay.com. She got really pissed and repeated "go to rentoncollections.com" and lots of people pay there, and the issue was mine. Nope - not when you don't understand the most basic thing about your online payments. You are small shop, not a corporation. I need some confidence that my payment is recorded. I realized likely this "manager" I spoke with had no clue about what their website was doing, what a payment processor was, and although I was actually trying to help her fix an issue, she gave me nothing but nasty remarks. I called the original biller, complained about their collection agency, and asked if I could pay them directly which they said yes. I paid the original biller. There was no way I was giving money to this arrogant woman. Now reading the other reviews, I can see this company just doesn't care. Even when I was wanting to work with them and pay my balance off, they were incredibly rude. The person I was "working with" was clearly sad or angry by life, and I don't think this is a healthy job for them to have. I was spoke to in such a condescending matter, and got off the phone each call feeling completely drained and defeated. I was taking ownership of what I owed, and doing the best I could, so the treatment was unwarranted. I made a full payment on a $700 debt but they won't give me a confirmation letter of payment for some reason. It's been more than 3 months since payment and they have not notified Transunion that I've paid. I've filed a complaint with government agencies, opened an investigation with Transunion and am looking to see what more I can do. Do not trust these people. These people are hideous and need to be put out!! Anone who has had similar experiences needs to voice your concerns, because THIS IS NOT RIGHT! I have had basically nothing to do with them for some time, yet the "bad taste" lingers and I feel so strongly that others voice their concerns that something be done... What happened with me, in a nutshell--I had a bad accident, multiple injuries, hospitalization, etc...an insurance claim pending... Every single other "person", ie entity, including my doctors, hospital (for the surgery, etc) physical therapists (all excellent) understood what was going on and stood still for the claim to be settled, which it was, everyone paid... I was incapacitated, pretty much immobilized, under medication, in pain, groggy, and trying to heal, and their calls came in...at first I was in disbelief that they would do this, I was seriously trying to heal...it was call after call, I was trying to rest and heal, sleep, the calls came incessantly, sometimes twice in a day! unbelievable, had to tell them to stop it, I need to heal...THEY DID NOT GET IT UNTIL I WROTE THEM A LETTER AND GOT A RIDE TO THE MAiLBOX TO POST IT IN THE COLD WINTRY SLEET IN A CAST ON! By far the worst experience I have ever had. This is the very first time I have been sent to collections due to an error by a hospital. Not only was this situation terrible, but then to be treated like I am some sort of deviant is just ridiculous. Both people I spoke with threatened me with my account. I'm not an idiot... I understand that if something goes to a collections agency, it will show up on my credit report. Don't treat people so horribly. I'm telling my story because you caused me to get a higher interest rate on my new car. I bounced a check in the Fall of 2013 for $20! I didn't get a notice from Renton Collections until November 2014. I paid the now $75 bill in full in March of 2015. That day they said they will remove the debt from my credit reports and send me a letter. I called them again in the Spring of 2016 because I opened a bank account and they mentioned it was still on my report. Renton Collections confirmed again 1. The debt was paid in full 2. They would send me a letter confirming this 3. They would report to the credit bureaus. I called Renton Collections again in October 2016 when I was buying a new vehicle; this was the only collections debt ding on my credit reports. I called them right there at dealership. They confirmed again 1. Paid in full 2. Will send letter 3. Report to bureaus. NOW ITS APRIL 2017! Guess what? Its still on my credit reports! So I called again FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN 3 YEARS! The phone representative confirmed once again 1. paid 2. letter 3. report and that there is no record of a letter sent or removing the debt from my credit reports. So I had to waste my time to call my bank to get the cancelled check-by-phone receipt and file a dispute with each credit bureau. WHAT A JOKE! What kind of business would want to continue paying its employees to talk on the phone over and over again for a debt that was so small? How do you make any money? Renton Collections gets zero stars from me. Ms. Alvarez at ext. 204 contacted me over a medical bill that apparently, upon further research, had already been paid. When I informed her that this bill was paid and I should never have been contacted she became verbally abusive toward me to the point that I couldn't even talk with her, and had to hang up. I then called back and talked with her supervisor who wanted to argue "semantics" with me. Both were unprofessional and not an asset to this company. This is not a "star" for their positive service. It should be a negative 5. Firstly, they telephoned asking for my ex-husband of 16 years. Once we establish that he has never had my address or cell number, I am apprised of accounts. They turn out to be for my daughter and her MRI. I ask for a breakdown since I never have seen a bill. The insurance was in my ex-husband's name, not my own, so once I never heard anything from 2008, I did not think of it again. The letter I finally do receive comes in my ex-husband's name and my misspelled first name and former married surname. They included three accounts of my ex-husband's, in addition to our daughter's. These accounts include how much he owes, where he visited, and of course, after identifying our long time of divorce, they also reveal they are his, and nothing to do with our children. They violated HIPAA laws more than once, and Mr. Martin had the audacity to comment as to knowing why I was divorced. Mr. Martin was the manager of Renton Collections per the female answering the phone. Good luck folks! Another horror story from a screwed up medical bill. I payed my bill the moment I was informed I had a bill through their website. I continued to get badgering phone calls. Rude people on the phones at this place. I get that it's an unpleasant situation, but these people just make things exponentially worse by being rude and unprofessional. As soon as I looked up my confirmation number for the payment I had made the story changed immediately. "Oh here it is, for some reason it wasn't showing up on your account... you're all taken care of". Awful. I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with these people. read more

One star is generous for Renton Collections. I've dealt with others on small things throughout the last 30 years and never had this kind of experience. The collection contact person that calls me is Brad. Brad is a bully and that's the nicest thing I have to say about him. He called me yesterday while I was in the doctor's office and I couldn't talk, so today he calls me AT WORK on my WORK PHONE. How dare he take a personal matter up with me via my business phone? As Dave Ramsey says, they are just idiots in a cubicle somewhere. My issue is with a website that Future Ranking was supposed to build for me but never did. After they sent me the mock up of the website, I rejected it and told them to cancel the deal. I paid them a $1000 to do what little they did. Why in the hell would I pay them another $3000 to do continue on with the whole website marketing thing when I asked them to stop. They've got my $1000 and I got nothing for it. The whole amount in collections is bogus - yes, I understand there's a contract that states I'll pay this bill but the company never delivered their product, so why do I have to stand by this contract when they didn't deliver on their end of the deal. Brad was rude, hateful, talked while I was talking, and last but not least, threatening. He threatened me with "now that I've confirmed where you work, I will call back on Monday to see if you've changed your mind about paying your bill." Well, hell no, I'm not gonna change my mind. I get that collections is a "tough" job. Anyway, I saw RCI on my credit report. So I called to see what it was. They informed me it was a unpaid medical bill from Valley Medical Center. I told them I paid this. (I paid all my debt in my first deployment to Iraq.) So I went on the investigate, I called Valley Medical Centers billing department, and they informed that this was paid in 2008! Might I add this is 2012. So I call back RCI to let them know that its paid on Valley's side. As I get on the phone with a collection agent, she is the most rudest little tramp I've ever spoken to. No mannors what so ever. For the past 4 months I have been receiving calls and letters from this agency. When I received the first notice I contacted them and informed them that the debt had been paid to the original creditor. I was told ok they would note the file and have a good day. From then on I have had to contact the original creditor and Renton Collections to inform them of this. So today while on the phone with the original creditor they called the collection agency and confirmed that the account had been paid. I then followed up with RCI to confirm this and that I would no longer be receiving letters or calls as its a violation against the FDCPA to collect on a debt that's already been paid. She started to argue with me and I just informed them that they have been reported to the Attorney General and I will now be filing a complaint with the FTC! Sadly after loosing my job in 2012, then having a massive heart attack/heart failure and then my wife going through breast cancer treatment we got into debt that was simply unpayable with next to zero income. They had a guy that looks like a tweaker come to our door on Sunday with a court order ... after this we had no choice but to obtain an attorney and our attorney advised them not to call again but still called myself, my wife and my ex co workers (as they believed I still worked at my old job) ... mind you they always called me "Garbin... or Gabon and some other weird pronunciation of my middle name rather than my actual name ... fast forward to now and they are still calling and harassing me and my family and my friends even after the bankruptcy was filed (3 months ago) and we have a notice of discharge which Renton Collections is fully aware of as I checked with my attorney they there are on the list of creditors that the court sent notifications out to .... so in short they use intimidation methods to the point of threatening people, and even though their website states they follow all laws and regulations they obviously don't as they are still calling us almost a month after a notice of discharge has been issued. read more

I recieved a bill from this company for $33.33, it was an original debt of 8.91. I contacting the collection company in regards to this debt, i was told that i needed to pay it i asked the collector who the creditor was and she stated RADIA INC. PS i asked her if there was a number that i can contact them on and she stated that they don't give out that info and that the debt was turned over and that i would be wasting my time contacting them that they wont even talk to me.. she told me i HAD to pay the debt again i stated i have no out of pocket expenses per insurance because they pay out 100%, I told her i would only pay if i actually owed it then she got nasty and i hung up. I Googled the company and did call and did talk to a financial specialist and she stated the debt was paid in full by insurance that they had sent it to collection before receiving the insurance money, they were looking into removing it ... i contacted the collection agency again and got a really nice collector and told her what was going on and she stated the debt was cancelled on May 27, 2014... meaning it isn't in the system since the insurance paid it in full... So if my debt was cancelled on may 27th 2014 why did the first collector tell me i had to pay it and got nasty with me and told me i couldn't talk to the original creditor? I will be filing a formal complaint with Washington Dept. of finance. I believe some one broke a few laws here... Here is who you contact in regards to this collection agency per complaints, if you do get a rude collector and you ask who the original debtor is and they don't comply, you hang up and you write a certified letter to the collection agency asking them to not call you any more per such and such number put your cell your work, state in that letter that you would like a copy of the original debt, they have to produce it, if they don't have it they have to remove it from your credit report and also state that all correspondence will now be done in writing. After no contact of any form, even though they had our address for years, my husband and I attempted to come to some sort of settlement with this company for unpaid medical bills of all things. Their supervisor "Sandra" was a complete rude, seemingly raised in the ghetto gal who refused to remove any of the over $700 of interest that her company had added to the initial bills and repeatedly yelled at me to just pay my bill even as I was attempting to give this very rude and unkind woman my credit card information to make the outrageous payment. For background I had settled with SEVERAL other collection agencies and they were all very kind and more than willing to remove all or at least some of the interest that had been added to our accounts and mind you these companies held other bills other than medical bills. All I can figure is that this collection agency is doing poorly and needs all the money they can get. To be honest I really didn't want to pay the bill on principal that their employees are so incredibly rude. I called in regards to a debt that popped up when doing a credit check. I wasn't trying to argue if there was or wasn't a debt that we didn't know about I paid 400 on it because time lines matched up with hospital visits. I called back because the hospital said we didn't have anything at first but the old system showed up 2 of 3 debts the collections said was there. I called back and was treated like crap, when I asked for the name and contact info for the third. They said there were recording the message and triad to strong arm me I said hold on you now being recorded. Then they acted like a 12 year on throwing a fit. Talked to the manager who was just as helpful. I asked to talk to her boss because even a manager has a boss, refused to let me talk to them said thank you have a nice day and hung up on me. Worst customer service ever. They act like children, hang up on you and refuse to give you the information to validate the debt.. Do companies have a right to treat people like trash. It is absolutely absurd this company functions the way they do. I had a medical bill go to collections with them due to confusion over whether or not the charges from the hospital were covered by insurance or not. I thought they were. Anyway, I didn't find out these charges were in collection until I checked my yearly credit report. For a collections agency to neglect contacting somebody that they are opening a case against them is a definite strike one. Strike two came when calling them. Everybody you speak to there past the receptionist, seems to hate their jobs and/or lives. They are curt, condescending and defensive. Strike three was huge crashing failure in service that would be simple if they took note that they are conducting business in 21st century. Upon paying them, I was told by the person who ran my card over the phone that I should expect a confirmation/proof of payment in the mail (something to ALWAYS request when paying off collections; for some ridiculous reason, paying your debts off does not mean it won't appear on your credit report for another month). 2 1/2 weeks later, I received no confirmation and I applied for an apartment. The management company needs me to prove that I've paid this account and promptly so we can get a lease squared away. So I thought I'd ask the people at Renton Collections to send me the proof of payment in an email. They say, "No, we have to send that through secure US Mail, because it involves a medical charge." Because US Mail is SO MUCH more secure than email. And services like Cisco Registered Email aren't readily available for them to use. And I don't already receive much more important and sensitive material through email. And, you know, it's not like the fact that I have a charge from Ballard Medical listed on my credit report as an unpaid bill in collections that is pretty much available FOR ANYBODY TO SEE. Certainly, if you had paid these things, you wouldn't want anybody to know that you paid them. That would be stupid. I left a voicemail with the "Manager" of this place. A year ago I went to the ER because I woke up with searing pain in my back. They gave me pain meds, asked if I wanted to pay upfront for the ER visit or add it to my bill. Paid it upfront. About a month later I receive a physicians bill in the mail. Went online. Paid the bill. Fast forward 4 months. Collections sends me a bill. Tells me that I never paid the physician. I call the ER. Tell them the issue. They confirm that I paid my bill. They call the collections agency. The collections agency calls me back and apologizes for their mistake and assures me that the bill is being canceled and it will not affect my credit. Fast forward another 8 months. I'm getting a credit report. My credit score has dropped 70 points. 70! I'm beyond upset. I have never paid a bill late, I have never maxed out any of my credit cards, I have never relied on my credit cards for anything. I scan my report to find that I have a collections bill from 8 months ago. What. So I call the agency and say that there must be some mistake. I haven't been to the hospital since the last time I had spoken to them. This time the woman on the phone tells me that I have still not paid my bill. I told her the name of the woman I spoke to the first time, (we'll call her J) the woman to call at the hospital, and explained to her that there was a mix up. She continues on my telling me that J tried to get a hold of me and never could. She called three times and I never answered. WHAT. This is when I got angry. I told her that I can call the hospital or give her the number or I can have them call her. She told me no. That there is no reason to do that. I told her I can provide her with a bank statement from last YEAR to show her that I paid her. She said no. That's when I started raising my voice. I told her that I would like to speak to J to get this sorted out. She wasn't willing to investigate she was just set on saying no. She said that unless I give them money that I can not get this bill taken care of. I'm appalled. I cave ( but believe me a lawyer is coming their way) and pay the bill, for now. read more

I called this company yesterday to make a payment. I talk to Sarah and Sandra. Im trying to clear up my bills. This was the worst experience I ever had in my life. They talk down to you. Very snotty!! respect goes two ways. Don't talk down to me ! When ask for the Manger Martinez she was defending her workers attitude and telling me to be nice and that its not their fault I didn't pay my bill!! I did not blame anyone for my bills!! She as a Manager handled it wrong. Its called customer service!! Debt or no Debt!! Respect!! I was so upset that I used all the ugly words on them!! I let the Devil get too me. They cant call me because I live out of jurisdiction. I called them to make arrangements! They should be happy Im trying to clear my bill. Sarah and Sandra and Manager Martinez work on your customer service!! I have a debt to clear ! But talk to me with respect! don't talk down to me ! and me feel uncomfortable! You have a job to collect payments then do it!! your not God to judge anything else because we have bills that haven't been paid. I agree with the other reviews - PAY OFF YOUR BILL BEFORE DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE! I had a medical bill that I was unaware of go to collections and it wasn't until I went to purchase a home that I saw it on my credit report. It was a smaller bill of $98 so I had no problem paying it. I called 4 times over a month and left voice mails every time before finally getting a call back. The representative wouldn't explain why the amount had increased to $115 and went as far as to call me "stupid" for thinking he would believe that I had been trying to call for a few weeks. I tried to get a word in to just explain I wanted to set up a payment and he continued to verbally stab at me about how I "clearly had not called during business hours" - which I in fact had called during business hours each time - and 'I should have walked into their facility during business hours if I wasn't able to get a hold of someone." I don't even know where to begin with how dumb that statement is since he acknowledges the fact that very well could have been calling even though he was so persistent on telling me I couldn't have been. I fought back and over and over again said "I want to talk to someone else" until he stopped talking and said "Fine, but they won't listen to you" and transferred my call to another representative's voice mail. It took another call to talk to a representative who would take a minute to explain that the $98 was the balance originally reported in January 2012 and the $115 was the current balance with interest in November 2013. I was one of the easiest customers they could possibly deal with. I'm on cloud nine and in a super bubbly mood with buying my first home and willing to pay the bill in full, so there is no excuse for the disrespectful treatment I received. This company called on a Friday to schedule an interview for employment. My appointment was set for two business day in the future, Tuesday. When I arrived at 9:45 for my 10 am interview, I was told that there was no interview scheduled for that day and that the positions had all been filled. One would think that it would be common courtesy to contact any remaining candidates to let them know that the positions were filled. I found this to be frustrating and disrespectful of my time. If they tables were turned and I failed to show up for an interview, I would have been ruled out as a candidate. I feel like I dodged a bullet in this situation. The woman they transferred me to was condescending and just plain rude! The client they represented (the creditor) failed to send the claim to my insurance, but the woman said insurance companies lie so I shouldn't believe them. Turns out the insurance agency really didn't get billed, and the woman at Renton Collections is just an unhappy, cranky woman. She kept speaking over me when I was trying to ask for the creditors phone number so that I could update ins. information. What an awful experience. Crazy woman should be fired! read more
