Corned Beef with Pretzel Roll sub for Rye

Sarah, our server, was fantastic and the pretzel bite rave reviews were on the spot--at $9.99 the lowest cost appetizer was a winner. Friends ordered the Chicky Nicky grilled, grilled cheese with tomato soup dipping cup and I went with a modified corned beef. Tater tot's were ok. Should have gone with sweet potato fries...next time!

Holy cow! This is not just a bar. This is an atmosphere, a place to feel comfortable, as comfortable as at home. Rebecca (The Mascot) of Rep's with her purple shirt and hair was our server today and the head bartender of the day. She's what really puts a five star review ticket on my shoulders to write. My mate Mike ordered a Moscow Mule, it was tangy limey and awesome tasting. Hats off Rebecca. I got a Long Island iced tea, holy cow is it an instant drunkening. While the large amount of ice may be off putting there's a LOT of alcohol to suck up and enjoy! Though my advisory is that you stir yours when it arrives to your table, despite Rebecca's best shaking skills in the margarita shaker the laws of physics be a harsh mistress, water and alcohol separate easily so any amount of ice, a single cube can make the drink settle as it transits to the table. So give it a stir before enjoying for best flavor! The chili is a bit spicy for my taste buds but I'm sure one could order it mild, I'll try that next time. The atmosphere is very calm quiet and almost homelike. Just with a lot more tables and TV's. It's a weird comparison to make but this feels less like a bar and more like the safety of a psychiatric hospitals dining room, a calm place one can speak openly about literally ANYTHING without being judged. Truly an establishment I can take my hat off and bow to. Rep's really shows what a hometown bar should be. A large enough place for gatherings but a place that feels comfortable enough to be an oversized community rec room that feels like an extension of the community rather than a business.

The ambiance and the service are both excellent. The environment is laid back and I did not feel like a stranger inside. I will definitely go again and try their pizza.

Just tried their new "Loaded Taco Grilled Cheese", which truly is one of the best of both worlds sandwiches I've ever had (think torta...but actually a ground beef American style taco inside and on top of a thick-sliced Texas toast grilled cheese). Yum fricken yummy and just enough pico and sour cream slathered to tame, but also accentuate, the spice/heat level. Instead of fries, it's served with a side of chicken enchilada soup (loaded with meat, two types of beans, corn, as well as Frito's corn-like and Dorito's flavored chip strips). This concept works and it is delicious. As I am a huge fan of Rep's original grilled cheese (see 2021 review below), this is a wonderful addition to their menu. Jones-worthy and know I will be future craving for this sammy that's for sure!! Finished the meal with some Cinnamon roll churros served warm with vanilla ice...oh my awesome...and the seasonal Xmas decor is truly delightful too (along with the great background music).

Food was fantastic. We had the pretzel bites and cheese curds. Amazing! I had the patty melt. Very, excellent choice. I wish I had seconds. Service was great. Water and beers filled. The place has live music too! We enjoyed this jem of a "place!"

It took a while to give the server our food and drink order and were were never told about their Daily Specials or offered any water. We ordered the potatoe skins as an appetizer and I wanted to try their chicken wings since they were on the menu as a Wednesday Special for .99 each Unfortunately our appetizer came out almost at the same time as our entrees. The skins were huge but overcooked. The wings were good in size but I should have gotten the sauce on the side as they were super soggy. It came with ranch dressing which I didn't care for at all. Our server never followed up with us after he brought us our meal as I would have asked for blue cheese dressing instead. If you are going to meet up with friends or watch a game,Draft Picks is an ok Sports Bar but certainly lacking in food quality.

My husband and I ordered the boneless chicken wings and steak tacos because those were the specials on the menu that night. The boneless chicken wings had a really bad flavor to them. The garlic parmesan wings had too strong of a vinegar taste. The barbecue boneless chicken wings were much too peppery and not enough barbecue flavor. I bit right into a big piece of gristle or cartilage in the steak tacos. The cheese, lettuce and tomato added no flavor to the tacos. The last item we tried was the French fries because I thought that they would be safe. I was wrong. There was no flavor to the fries, not even salt. The trivia was fun and our server was nice but I will not be returning to Draft Picks!

There were seven of us and we all converged from Buffalo Grove and Vernon Hills. Jimmy D's doesn't come up on your normal burger place lists in and around the area, but we saw a post somewhere and knew we had to check this place out, especially if it ended up being across from the future home of the Chicago Bears. We'd probably end up hanging out there and wanted to make sure it was a good enough place to hang and be a part of the action, whilst not paying for said action. Anyhoo, we all pulled up to find a nice parking lot next to/behind the restaurant. It's a cool place with a couple entrances (one in the lot and the other from the street). It's a nicely adorned building and has the requisite sports decor on the inside with plenty of televisions to watch many games at once. There was plenty of seating for our group as it was quite empty on a Monday night and there wasn't any game of note when we were there. We called ahead letting them know our numbers and they accommodated us with a reserved table. They were attentive and constantly refilled out waters and sodas and brought more beer when needed/requested. The service was friendly and attentive. We were there for the burgers of which there are four options: the House burger, the Fried Egg Burger, the Mac Daddy, and a Black Bean burger. However, stipulations for being in our club is that you can only order a red meat-based burger. We did order the buffalo sauced wings as an appetizer to share. They were sauced nicely, not too hot, and quite good. I would definitely recommend getting them if you visit. I also ordered the cream of chicken soup. It was a perfect option for the cold night and I rank it among one of the better cream of chicken soup options in the suburbs. While not a sommelier of cream of chicken soup, I do rank it quite well: I think it matches Jameson's Char House for quality, thickness, and flavor. Mama clearly knows what she's doing with her soup. I opted for the Mac Daddy burger. It's prepared with: black angus beef, boom boom sauce, house mac n' cheese, bacon, fried onions, sliced jalapeños, toasted brioche. I normally don't opt for the special/signature house sauces as I've been burned before by these so-called "recommended" house sauces (I'm looking at you, Lucky Burger, with your terrible "dijonnaise" sauce - ugh, don't get me started on THAT sauce). However, I was told it's a hot sauce for the burger and figured it wouldn't overpower everything else on the burger. The mac n' cheese was a tad creamy, but so what, the bacon, fried onions, jalapenos, and boom boom sauce cut into the creaminess a bit and it worked. And it didn't overpower the flavor of the burger, which I thought it would, but somehow didn't. I really liked this burger, the bun held up, the bacon stayed crispy, and jalapenos and sauce added a nice kick but not overwhelmingly so. I would get this again. The sandwiches come with housemade fries or tots, but I know that if tots are offered, you can (generally) never go wrong with tots (I'd point out Puck's Pub but they closed and did the world a favor in doing so). Everyone generally liked their burgers and would return again. In our 5 point scale, Jimmy D's District got a 4.25. They have a nice brunch menu and drinks to match and I want to try them out someday. Let me know if you're going and I'll meet ya there if available.

The buffalo mac & cheese truly surprised me. It's covered with an ale cheese sauce that is full of flavor and on top, there are buffalo chicken crisps! So good! The Greek Fries were my other favorite! It has a roasted garlic aioli, crumbled feta and oregano. I could eat an entire plate of it with no problem! If you're a beer drinker, they have a massive selection on tap (about 90 taps--and no, that's not a typo!). They also have a large patio that looks like a great spot when the weather is nice. Inside, there's a good mix of low-tops, high-tops, banquettes, and booths. All the tabletops feature copper tops with wood trim, and exposure to water and food over time has given each table a unique patina. We arrived right as they were switching over from the brunch menu to dinner, and the staff made us feel very welcome. What We Ordered: Smoked Brisket Reuben Eggrolls: We ordered these special eggrolls for the table. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and since many traditional eggrolls contain shrimp, he was excited to try these. He said they were the best eggrolls he's ever had (though he admitted he doesn't eat them often!). He paired it with a Guinness Zero non-alcoholic draught and was amazed by how close it tasted to the original. Fish Tacos ($19): Recommended by another reviewer, these come with three cornmeal-battered, fried Mahi-Mahi tacos topped with cilantro lime cream and fresh micro cilantro. They were crispy and very tasty. If you're usually sensitive to cilantro, you might still enjoy these--I mostly tasted a bright, lemony freshness rather than heavy cilantro. Sides (Broccoli Rabe & Asparagus): I substituted chips for a vegetable side. Due to a mix-up in the kitchen, I got to try the broccoli rabe first, though it turned out way too spicy for anyone at our table. My actual order was asparagus--my absolute favorite--but it was a bit disappointing, as the bottom half of each stalk was woody and fibrous. Fish & Chips ($21.50): My friend went with this traditional entry. At that price point, he was expecting three fillets, but he couldn't finish the two that were served and took some home. Overall, a solid entrée. Classic Breakfast ($15.50): My husband got this from the brunch menu. He was very pleased with the scrambled eggs, potatoes, thick-sliced bacon, and sausage links. Overall, a solid visit with great variety on the menu!
