There were no greetings or acknowledgment just uncomfortable stares that made us feel unwelcome, as if it were unusual to see Black customers in a reptile store. Petsmart was much more welcoming, and thankfully, we were able to get our snake there and more. One of my favorite activities is visiting the local reptile store any time that I'm in an area that I'm not usually in, especially if there's some extra time to hang out. It's a neat way to see what supplies and feeders that they have and see what little buddies they have in store. Okay, if you own reptiles, you're probably accustomed to the smell, but got a huge whiff of fishy smell (sometimes happens with Dubia roaches or other feeder worms, iykyk), but I got used to it in a bit. Might be since we were visiting right after feeding time. There's no overcrowding and they're pretty well-stocked. Good number of snakes here if that's you're thing (I'm more of a lizard person), and the have live feeder mice too, if you're so inclined, and as a lot of their clientele were too during our visit. There's some inverts here too, tarantulas, hissing roaches, death feigning beetles, etc. Staff are friendly and helpful as they welcomed us in and answered lots of customer questions. There's the usual you see here like bearded dragons and leopard geckos, but they have a couple African Fat Tailed geckos (love these cuties) and Uromastyx, including an impressively large Egyptian one, a real treat if you've only seen the smaller ornate ones. Some monitor lizards and young blue tongue skinks (one day you'll be mine), and some tortoises too. Love that the sale of iguanas can only be done after they're given proof of proper enclosures. We love to see responsible pet ownership. Lots of supplies in stock too like water and food dishes and bowls, lighting fixtures, supplements, decor, hides and climbs, gecko powder food, and much more. It's a staple of the community, and the fan art from the local children are a clear indicator of that. read more

It's always nice to go into this store. Friendly people, patient consultation and good products. I am setting up a paludarium and they did a whole bunch of research to help me find the perfect frog for it. I got the enclosure, spiderwood, substrate and a filter for this build. Other materials were sourced elsewhere. We have a mystery snail, cherry shrimp, a pleco, a crab, guppies, minnows and a Cory catfish for the water feature. Can't complain! They have everything I need to keep my reptile as happy as I can make her. Located in Rancho Cucamonga, it's fairly close to the freeway, which makes it pretty easy to get to. However, it gets very busy in this area, especially on weekends. I've also been here on a weekday right when they open, and they have customers in line when I walk in. Probably around the same size as the Yorba Linda location, organization is a little bit different but still fairly organized. It's open enough where you can walk around decently, but it can get a little crowded if there's a ton of people. Regular mealworms, giant mealworms, redworms, rats, etc. They've got the grub! Also grabbed substrate and various accessories various times without issue. On the occasions that they are out of stock of something, they tend to have an idea on when it'll be back in stock. The employees suggest colored bulbs, red specifically these should not be recommended at all for reptiles. Please avoid them they disrupt sleep cycles and reptiles could not see with those lights. We have been shopping at Reptile Island for a few years now, and I would not consider any other reptile store for many reasons. Originally (almost 2 years ago) we bought our juvenile Bearded Dragon from Reptile Island and more recently, a Ball Python. All their staff are passionate about reptiles and anything related to. They are always very friendly and helpful, even when they are asked a lot of questions about proper care on what reptiles we have personally, or are looking into buying in the future. Never bothered by any questions, it's the opposite in fact. They are all very knowledgeable too. I am the type that likes to be prepared and do a little research before buying anything. Whether browsing, or buying something specific, they are always well-stocked with whatever is needed. The best customer service. As we walk in the door, we are immediately greeted and their assistance is offered. The store is clean and well-maintained. All their reptiles are also very well cared for. I can tell based off the enclosures. We will be adding more reptiles in the future, and only from Reptile Island. Got my daughter a leopard gecko (Leafy) about 2 years ago. Not from here but from a private seller. This was our first reptile so when she stopped eating I had no idea why. I called several vets and no one had availability. Finally I went to Reptile Island to ask if they had any advice or could refer me to someone. They were SO helpful. They explained a few things it could be and said I could bring her in for them to look at. I did and they said she looks overall healthy and may need more calcium or heat. They also said her shed was stuck and put her in some water to help peel it off. We are trying a different heat now to see if it helps. We will also get some liquid calcium just in case. They also gave me a lot of advice and helpful information. Everyone here was so very nice and knowledgeable. I talked to Felix, Kat, and one other guy (so sorry I forgot your name!). They all seem to care a lot about every animal and customer. I highly recommend this place for all your reptile needs. We buy our food here too and it's always been better quality than Petsmart. We only go there if they run out of the worms we buy. Kat was especially helpful when asking about the bearded dragons. We don't have room for one now but when we do we will be back to get one. One of the employees lets their dogs free roam around the store. It constantly is trying to smell my wife's genitals and gets especially aggressive if we go in the store during my wife's time of the month. The dog is large and somewhat intimidating, so she doesn't want to push it away for fear of getting bitten. Also for what it's worth, some people are allergic and/or are very fearful of dogs. We get into the reptile hobby as a replacement pet that is hypoallergenic and/or not triggering to past trauma. Please stop allowing this employee to bring her dog into the store. Until that happens, I will keep my shopping here to a minimum (only when I can't find what I need at other reptile stores). read more

I had visited this reptile store many times since it is close to my office. It is a young guy working at that time usually. He always has the bothered attitude. No smile at all. Delay response and I can tell he doesn't want to talk to me at all. One time I tired to order rats for my python, he told me it was currently out of stock and will be available the next day. This is like my fourth time they did this and it pisses me the fuck off, they literally count them and when they do they count wrong it's like they can't count or something.
