Friendly bartender and a nice building but the food is absolutely terrible. Some of the worst bbq I've had in a while.

My husband and I hired Republic BBQ to cater my daughter's wedding this past weekend and it was such a wonderful experience. We requested the brisket potato option and it was delivered on time, hot and ready. The two gentlemen that served for us were very efficient and kind. The food was absolutely delicious. I don't normally like brisket, as so many times all I can taste is the smoke, but this brisket was so tender, cooked to perfection and scrumptious. Some of the best BBQ in Brazoria County! Had an amazing first time experience. First off the atmosphere was great. Super friendly staff and made us feel welcomed. Even had the owners come up and chat with us during and after. Staff helped our family navigate the menu and didn't rush us. Next the food. Again some of the best BBQ I had in Brazoria county. The brisket was super moist and flavorful. The turkey was moist and fresh. The kids loved the half slab of ribs! I really liked the flavor of the sauce. It wasn't overpowering or sweet just right. I got the mac n cheese and it was good, and would recommend the sausage chicken jambalaya. It felt like a meal on its own! For dessert we had homemade strawberry cake and they serve House of Pies pecan pie. My family all agreed we will definitely be back! Look forward to trying their other menu items as well. read more

A young waitress talked back to me and told me that "I didn't have to be so rude" here tonight after I had told the waitstaff that they had mixed up my plate with someone else plate at my family's table. I clearly was only trying to communicate to them how to fix the issue so I told the girl "No, don't even talk to me like that" which escalated further by her yelling at me, telling me "I'm a grown man and that I should shut up". And like I said, I was only trying to get my family their food they had been waiting 5 mins for after every one else had gotten their food at our table. Honestly, I have been eating bbq in this building since before this girl was born so it's all very laughable to me. My father built Scott Leoapols bbq spot for him that burnt down where the rv park by McDonald's is now. I like grew up in that spot and ate it a ton when he first moved into this republic building so long ago. I will say it's pretty nice inside now. They tried to build a fancy bar to compete with margarita jones. The food was good, I am not a fan of the weird burntish bbq sauce but I hear some people like it. And at the end of the day, the manager walked outside as we were leaving and handed me a full pecan pie from house of pies so that's tite as fuck. Turned this 2 stars into 3! read more

The barbecue is too spicy, expensive and not tender. Service is ok but manager tends to ridicule his staff in front of patrons. There is a constant turn over in employees. So sad. West columbia needed a good restaurant but didn't get it. read more

Absolutely love this place. Owners are awesome, had an amazing server Savanna who was super attentive and went out of her way to make our experience awesome. Their barbecue sauce is absolutely perfect, tender and delicious brisket (not bland and not overly spiced) , Mac and cheese was delish, sausage was delicious and I really enjoyed the slaw. Got a chance to watch some football while we were there. The place was completely remodeled and looks brand new. Super clean and really good vibe, This will definitely be my new BBQ spot. read more

Food and service were excellent. My only complaint would be that they were out of turkey.

Came in town Saturday and stopped. I'm sooooo glad I did. Their meat is amazing! But their Collard Greens will have me driving a 2 hour round trip because they are That Good! I got their 2 meat plate with Smoked Turkey and Pork Ribs, Collard Greens and Fried Okra....so delicious. Place is a great lil secret because staff is awesome as well. I dined at Republic BBQ for the first time this past weekend. My friend and I were concerned because this restaurant doesn't have the strong bbq pit smell. Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant was very clean. The meals and reasonably priced and they have a bar with some good selection of adult beverages. Customer service was superb! Thank you! The potato salad is the best potato salad that I've ever eaten at a restaurant! I was not expecting it to be so good. It actually tasted like my family made it. Lol. The peach cobbler was very good. The brisket was cooked to perfection and tasted really good. Everything was good except the baked potato and this is the reason for 4/5 stars. What a gem! Stopped in after Softball to pickup food. The service was perfect. It has great ambiance. They have a large bar and bunch of tables. Best BBQ around. We got sliced beef sandwich and a 4 rib plate. The sliced brisket was good and the meaty ribs were really tasty. I really like the sauce, it is slightly different than others around Brazosport area. The coleslaw has a rough chop which Hubby didn't like much. We will be back! read more

The food is very good. Fresh ingredients included with the meals. I always get the two meat combo and it's always flavorful. Brisket is top notch. I always ask for ribs as well and it's well seasoned. They offer deserts so I am definitely going to try all of them. Call ahead to see what is new because they always add some good menu items or offer a special menu option for the day. Recommending this restaurant. read more

Fantastic place! We were passing through and this place was a great surprise. High quality food (we had lean brisket and the special beef tips) and super friendly service. They even have a full bar! Have been wanting to try this restaurant as we go past it often on way to Rockport. Husband ordered a burger which was over done and crispy on outside. Only way to describe. Fry's were limp. I ordered Thursday special, fried chicken with pinto beans and potato salad. It was ok. Also a very nice green salad. We were there few minutes after opening. There is a front entrance and a side entrance. we came into side entrance after seeing another customer enter. We walked in and stood for a short time and no server offered a greeting. Awkward. We didn't know if we should sit at a table because the order counter could not be seen from the dining table. Almost left but walked up to the bar and then saw a counter to order. so there were 2 servers and a man behind the bar and not one of them offered a greeting we stood there like we were invisible. Also This is not a true Bbq restaurant, CANT smell bbq smoke from outside or inside. More like a diner. NOT going back there food mediocre and staff inattentive. Disappointing read more

I am gonna try not to be too harsh, since they have just opened BUT, we went in on Sept. 26th and ordered Three fully load BBQ baked potatoes and I have to say that I have had Bigger and Better baked potatoes from Heinz BBQ in Bay City and for way Cheaper. The potato was not put together, instead the sour cream, green onions and BBQ sauce were on the side, the green onions were brown onions and the BBQ sauce was disgusting, tasting vinegar with red dye. if this place doesn't get better with their food, it won't be making it long in West Columbia. read more

Hubby and I were in the area and decided to give this BBQ place a try. He got the 2 meat platter with brisket, jalapeño sausage, potato salad, and jambalaya. The Brisket has good flavor, no complaints. The sausage seemed a bit overcooked but good flavor. Sides were average - about what you would get anywhere else. The reason for my rating is because of my loaded baked potato. I got it with brisket. The brisket portion was practically non-existent. I paid $15 for this tater - I expected meat to be falling over. For the same price I could have gotten the 1 meat platter and gotten 2 sides and more meat. Really disappointed in the portion size for the pickles as well. Only two hamburger slices per plate. When asked if we could have more - got 4 more slices. Wow! I understand being tight with the meats but pickles? Won't be back. The place is cute and trendy with a big bar inside. Wait staff seemed attentive. If you go, skip the loaded Tater! You'll leave hungry. read more

I've been to Republic a couple of times and have enjoyed every meal. From baked potato to brisket. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's has ample seating and a couple of television when we watched the Astros. Definitely going back, love the chocolate cake. read more

Given it a 4 1/2 stars. All was well we waited in line to order and it didn't take long or to get the food. Ribs and brisket were awesome. The jalapeno sausage was good more heat would be better. The Cajun jambalaya was ok needed to absorb more seasoning. All in all I can't wait to go back and try the other dishes. Service was prompt and friendly. Note they had only been open 5 days when we ate there. It was enjoyable. read more
