Sat outside this time and enjoyed the graffiti walls and bird sounds. The fans helped relieve too early hot temps. Service good as usual. We enjoyed our empanada ( mushroom ) plate and side of yucca fries.

Their high reviews do not lie. This is one of those hidden local neighborhood gems. The pricing is great. I got a plate and an extra empanada and the whole meal is only $26. That is rare these days. I got the veggie empanadas, rice, beans, plantines, and salad. They are all really good. The green salsa is great, not too spicy. Just right. All the people there are super friendly. Chill vibes. Go check them out.

We love our Empanadas and have had our fair share of them throughout the years of food exploration. These Empanadas did not disappoint!!! Empanada shell is not flakey and has the perfect chew to it! Here is what we ordered: - Republica chicken: 4.5/5 flavorful shredded chicken in every bite! - Pernil: 4.5/5 the pork was so moist and delicious with each bite! - Boricua: 5/5 WOWZA!! The blend of the pork with rice was amazing! I would love to just get a plate of the Boricua stuffing! - Cubana: 5/5 OMGGG!! The cheese mixed in with the ham, pork slice, and pickle was so delicious! I will come back to get the Cubana sandwich next time! - El Capitan: 4.5/5 good blend of beef, potatoes, sweetness from raisins, and a salty kick from the Kalamata olives - Guava cheese: 4/5 this is a pretty standard guava cheese empanada. Can't go wrong with ordering this for a nice warm dessert treat. - Dizzy fig: 4/5 my family enjoyed the abundance of fig filling in each bite. We got the food to-go so service was fast in preparation. Empanadas stayed warm until we were ready to eat them. Ambiance / vibe had a bar-like atmosphere. It would be a great date night spot.

Republica Empanada in PHX, Arizona makes delicious empanadas. Located in a chill little restaurant you order your food and you get a number and then they bring your food to your table. Not a dedicated server to order your food. This place is great for lunch with your coworkers. They had a decent amount of tables inside the restaurant and a lot of cute and funky urban artwork for sale that also adorns the walls for decor by local artists. Came here with some coworkers to grab lunch before our meeting and I'm happy we decided to come here. My favorite empanadas were the Chicken, Picadillo and Cubana. They also were featured on Guy Fieri's popular show - Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Very cute building next to a community garden. Surrounded by wonderful colorful paintings. We traveled from Michigan and wanted to go to places that Guy Fieri recommended. I had the bean and cheese empanadas, and the chicken empanada, rice, beans and slaw. Delicious ! Fast and friendly service from Emma. Outside and inside seating areas. Thank you

This place is so good that it is one of those "must go" places we take out-of-town guests. Then we need only send them a picture of the empanadas to make them a little jealous and have them wish they were with us. Today was a rarity in that my wife and I went out for lunch and this is where we landed. Still love the food and the atmosphere.

Had to make a stop bc Diners, drive-ins and dives did a feature. Artsy little place for a quick empanada. They were delicious. Service was so pleasant and the menu was right to the point.

I enjoy going to unique places where you can customize your meal just the way you like it. República allows you to decide: do you want a platter like arroz con pollo? Or an empanada platter with rice, beans, cabbage salad and maduros? My favorite approach is to order empañadas a la carte. Choose whatever you like. My favorite thus far is the Jalapeño Bean Popper. (Black beans, cream cheese, seeded jalapeños.) Tonight I also had the Ham and Cheese. In the past, my husband and I have split one of the dessert options - Ruiz's Pieces (Nutella and peanut butter) and it was very good. Two empañadas is just about perfect for my appetite but they come out quickly if you want more. Service here is always friendly. I like how they've decorated the interior and exterior with beautiful murals and art to give the place a great vibe.

When I am craving empanadas, this is the place I think of. It's been around for years and is a quaint place with unique decor. This last visit, the service was subpar. We walked in with one couple who was ahead of us at the hostess stand. They waited for several minutes before being helped. The place was quite empty, so there was no excuse for customers standing there without getting staff attention immediately. When they were seated, it still took another 5 minutes for my party to be seated. It was quite peculiar since the restaurant was not busy. They only have QR codes for menus, so have your phone ready to view the menu. It took much longer than you would expect for the waitress to take our drink orders and about 10 minutes for her to serve the sodas we ordered. They finally delivered our food which is the only saving grace for why we come. There are unique menu items and flavor combinations. I would like them to serve more chimichurri sauce with the empanadas considering that is their namesake. You only get a small little cup of it per person, regardless of how many empanadas you order. It seems a little cheap considering the sauce is not an expensive item to make and the empanadas are the claim to their fame. I think their price point is a little bit high for the quality of the food and stinginess of portions. However, the food does taste delicious. Hopefully, their management improves the service in the future. Don't try to come here if you are in a rush because every step will take a bit longer than is the norm.

This is a restaurant I've craved since we moved from Arizona. Every time we visit, we bring someone new with us; we took family this time, and did not disappoint (as usual). Arroz con pollo was fantastic. We had leftovers the next day, and it was still soooo good! The outdoor area is perfect to bring your pets; they will take reservations, and the service was perfect. Sad I have to wait until we visit again -- I tried to talk them into shipping some to us out of state, but no luck!

After years of driving by, I finally stopped and tried this unique little restaurant. The lunch menu is very small, but honestly just perfect. The empanadas were delicious as was the rice, bean and cabbage salad. The employee that helped us was extremely pleasant and helpful with her suggestions. The restaurant is small, but clean, cutely decorated.

Papas Fritas. Definitely 8 dollars worth. Delicious. The white sauce is awesome.

Keith Lee was right. Delicious food in a wonderful atmosphere. The Pernil and Republica Chicken were both super flavorful. Definitely want to come back for a date night to try some cocktails.

Do they offer Takeout at Republica Empanada? I've tried calling a few times but can't get anyone to answer the phone.

Do they have Gluten Free options?

Yes. Try the Arroz con Pollo!

Does anybody know if they use lard in there crust? I don't usually eat pork or beef due to allergies and I would like to try this place. Also, if they use cheese do they use the cheese without animal rennet in it?

No there is not lard used, I'm not sure about the cheese but you can call and ask.

You can tell he actually cares about the dining experience and keeps up with his tables really well. Service alone was a 10 out of 10. Before coming in, we saw reviews complaining about a 20 minute wait for the food, but honestly that did not bother us because they let us know right away that the chicken is made fresh and would take around 15 minutes. If you know good fried chicken, you already know fresh chicken is worth the wait. I would rather wait a little longer for crispy, hot chicken than get something sitting under a heat lamp. And let me tell you, the chicken came out exactly how fried chicken should be. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, piping hot, and perfectly seasoned. The crunch had that fresh fry texture where you can actually hear it when you bite into it. For sides, I got the okra and mac and cheese. It was my first time trying fried okra and now I completely understand the hype. The seasoning on it was insanely good, especially paired with the Louisiana hot sauce. Definitely ask for the yellow peppers too because they add this juicy little pop of heat and crunch that takes the chicken to another level. Overall: 10 out of 10 service 10 out of 10 food 10 out of 10 atmosphere If you actually love fried chicken and appreciate fresh food made right, this spot is absolutely worth checking out.

Much to our dismay, the restaurant was closed to focus on catering. Luckily, though, It reopens for pop-ups. This morning I saw an Instagram post announcing that there would be a brunch pop up today, so we got up and got ready to go. It really is tucked away in the corner of plaza and goodbye Safeway. Inside is a small dining room with a bar, and through the rolling doors is a patio with outdoor seating. You can see the kitchen through the plexiglass divider, and there is bar seating along the divider so you can watch the cooking. There's a great, colorful mural on one wall and some fun lighting fixtures and art. Today's pop up was packed when we arrived. We grabbed the last two chairs which were on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The menu had seven choices. Of course we ordered two different things so we could share, but we skipped cocktails. We ordered: *Steak chilaquiles Christmas style (both red and green chile) served with a side of beans and talked with an egg *Green chili pork hash served with a side of beans talked with an egg Both were delicious! We both ordered scrambled eggs, and I'm pretty sure it was more than an egg. I'm not sure how they cook those eggs but they were the best ever. The pinto beans had green chili in it and was so good. I'm from New Mexico, and these tasted like the beans that you rarely find outside of New Mexico. The steak on my chilaquiles was really good - - thin sliced and tender. I was able to easily cut it with just a butter knife. The pork in the hash was so yummy. What are scrumptious brunch! It was nice to sit overlooking the kitchen, as it was quite a show to watch the chef. I was amazed at how over easy eggs were tossed and caught in the pan without the yolks breaking. Heck, I can't even flip eggs with a spatula without breaking the yolk! Anytime I've overlooked a chef cooking, I'm totally in awe of their amazing skills, and this was no different. I really recommend Tucked Away, just as I did when it was a regular restaurant. Follow them on Instagram to be alerted to pop ups. You won't regret it!

No complaints here... you can tell the staff knows how to handle a full house and keep things moving. Ambience This is where the place stands out. The vibe feels like a food network designed a biker bar, but in a fun, not over-the-top way. It's also apparently a Kansas City Chiefs bar, which adds to the identity. There was a live band playing early 2000s rock hits, which kept the energy up. Crowd was friendly overall, very much a neighborhood crowd. Overall This isn't a destination bar, but it's a really solid go-to if you live nearby. Think of it as an elevated dive/sports bar with a strong local following. Good drinks, good energy, and a place that does what it's supposed to do well.

I also love that it's a fully halal restaurant, which makes it feel even more inclusive. The menu has a ton of options since they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so there's plenty to come back and try. I ordered the strawberry and banana French toast and appreciated that they asked if I wanted strawberry compote or fresh strawberries (I went with fresh). The French toast had the perfect texture--slightly crisp on the outside but soft and custardy on the inside. It was so good it honestly didn't even need syrup. My husband got the cinnamon apple French toast. It usually comes with ice cream, but we swapped it for whipped cream and it was perfect. The portion size was generous (6 slices!) and just as delicious. Service was top notch as well. We were seated right away, and even as it started to get busier while we were leaving, everything stayed smooth. Our server was kind, attentive, and made the experience even better. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were great, and the overall experience was easy and enjoyable. This is definitely going into our regular breakfast rotation, and I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu.

My wife ordered an omelette with frennch fries, and I asked for the chicken fried steak breakfast. Wife enjoyed her omelette, and the fries were very good. My meal included 2 eggs, over easy prepared nicely. Hashbrowns were fine, pancakes were okay. Unfortunately, I received chicken fried chicken instead of chicken fried steak. I did not want to wait for a redo, though the waiter offered. Pretty annoying to be in a hig empty restaurant and get served a wrong main dish. I found it to be okay, nice crunchy heavily seasoned batter, and rather salty gravy. Not inspired by the meal or service. Not bad, but not for us.
