Driving in from LAX, parts of the route through Long Beach looked rundown and not especially inviting. The Westin itself was a clear step up. The coppery exterior and surrounding landscaping looked sharp on arrival. Valet was prompt and helpful with luggage. I arrived early. They offered a room immediately but said waiting a short time would get me a better one, so I left the bags with bell service. Like every other hotel I've stayed at, they said they would call when the room was ready. They never did. I had to return to the front desk and ask. It was ready. This has happened at every property that makes the same promise. I actually have a dedicated hundred dollar bill sitting lying dormant in my wallet awaiting the first hotel employee that actually calls me when my room is ready. It will be all theirs when they do; and I will recognize them for being the first ever to have done so in my personal decades of staying in hotels...! The room was nicely done and elegantly decorated. The linens were excellent and the bed was comfortable. I had a city view rather than water, which was fine. Public areas (lobby, bar, restaurant) ran warm in the summer with the large glass and cavernous volumes, but the room air conditioning worked decent and kept a good room temperature. One detail I really appreciated and wish more hotels would incorporate: a filtered water station next to the ice machine. Location worked well for the business meetings I had the next morning. I've been a long-time Hilton Diamond member, but Marriott properties like this one are starting to pull me over on overall quality. Solid stay once in the room, with a few operational misses that keep it in the 3.5 to 4 star range for me. read more

The lobby is beautiful, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, for the price, the overall experience was not worth it. Our bathroom had mold, there were noticeable stains on the carpet, and the phone in our room didn't work. Our room was also not cleaned one day. When I went downstairs to ask about it, I was simply told they could provide fresh towels because they weren't sure if the night crew would be there on time. This property clearly needs some attention and maintenance. At this price point, I expected much better. Unfortunately, I won't be booking here again. read more

Came here with my sister in law for an impromptu sister weekend after her work trip. The lobby is great and it's awesome they have a bluestone lane but otherwise, there were a lot of outdated / gross things that I unfortunately do feel are worth sharing. The lighting in the room is rough and while it all looked clean, I sat on the floor only to find someone's old contact lens which definitely grossed me out. Beds are SO comfy & awesome to have an early night in but when we went to use the TV, they weren't smart and the hotel didn't have any hdmi cords either :/ Generally a decent location and great staff at the front as well as valet. I recently stayed two nights at this Westin property and had a decent experience overall, but I will say this Westin could use a bit of a refresh. The positive: -location is central and walking distance to plenty of businesses and the water! -while valet is expensive, the guys working were super friendly and helpful -the heavenly beds of course -spacious lobby with coffee shop and plenty of seating -decent wifi The areas for improvement: -room seemed outdated, carpet stained, and my SIL found a contact lens on the floor. Yuck! -no smart TVs -no robes Note: I did not check out the pool or workout room but assume both are decent based on photos! I usually love a Westin so this one was more of a like than a love, but perhaps it will get a remodel in the future and step up some of the above. read more

The staff are amazing. I was immediately greeted upon arrival by many of the staff members and was offered help with my luggage but I declined. The front desk was friendly and polite. She was very kind and offered a room upgrade for free to a deluxe room with a partial ocean view. Now the room is where the ratings start to go downhill. The bathroom does not have a vent so it gets very steamy and it takes awhile for it to evaporate. The bathtub did not drain quickly so the water started to pool at the beginning of the shower. The fan in the bedroom hardly works. The low and high fan are practically working at the same speed and I didn't notice any difference. The room finally got to the desired temp after about 2-3 hours. The cabinet door to the fridge was broken at a hinge so we weren't able to access the fridge at all. Also, some of the channels on cable tv were not accessible. There is a $18 resort fee they charge upon arrival that caught me by surprise. I don't remember seeing this at the time of booking but I could've overlooked it. I really wanted to like this hotel, but the defects with the room were hard to miss. However, I did enjoy the amenities and the location. The positives about this hotel is the location, the lobby is clean and spacious, and the restaurant is good food and service. I arrived late after the restaurant closed, so I called earlier in the day and was informed that I could use my $18 credit for that day the next day. However, there was an issue on my bill and when I informed the front desk of the conversation, they indicated there were no notes on my file. My mistake to not take down the name of the person I spoke with. The room was alright, but we found it difficult to control the temperature well. There was no tissue and we had to ask twice within 3 hours for some to be brought to the room. The walls are thin and you will definitely hear noise from other rooms. There are other hotels that are better in the area, for a similar or a bit more so I think I would stay elsewhere next time. read more

As soon as we arrived to our room the Air conditioning was not working . Called front desk about it , they sent a "engineer" and all they did was try and clean the gross air intake filter area. The fan speed did not improve regardless of the setting the thermostat was set to. Low and high fan speeds were the same. Air conditioner for the 2 night stay annoyingly hot . Then the tub would not drain the old water. I called the front desk and they claimed they will send someone to fix but of course that remained the same . These were the main issues that made the stay horrible and inconvenient. We also had to call to request a simple iron since the room's closet had it missing. For $240 a night this was a ripoff . Upon checking out we requested a manager but of course was told there wasn't one on duty. Our phone number was written down an a "Gabby" would call when available. Based on other reviews this place is in shambles an I don't think they care at all. Still waiting on a "Gabby " to call . I Won't stay here again. Very disappointing stay and absolutely not what I expect from a hotel at this price point. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. You cannot set the room to a specific temperature and have it maintain that temperature. The AC shuts off, and by morning our room was 75 degrees, which made sleeping extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were also terrible. The feathers were clumped into certain areas, so we spent the night constantly trying to fluff and readjust them just to get comfortable. The bathroom was extremely small, outdated, and visibly run-down. Overall, the room simply did not feel like the quality you would expect from a hotel in this category. Then, at 6:47 a.m., while our entire family was asleep, someone knocked on our door asking if we had ordered pillows. We said no, but instead of apologizing and leaving, they continued questioning us: "So, you didn't order pillows?" Being woken up before 7 a.m. for something we never requested was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. Parking is another disappointment: $49 per night, while parking directly across the street is around $20 overnight. We stay at nice hotels regularly, so we have a reasonable idea of what to expect at this price level. Unfortunately, this has been by far one of our worst hotel experiences. Between the uncomfortable room temperature, poor bedding, outdated bathroom, early-morning disturbance, and excessive parking fee, this stay has been a major disappointment. read more

This time around my room didn't have any rental capabilities they were all down which is a bummer because I enjoy my room and watching movies. The room also smelled stale and musty. There has been some renovations to the lobby but not in there rooms. Their service was great as always. When I arrived around 8 PM, the front desk was extremely busy and there were several guests who were understandably frustrated. Despite the circumstances, Kasia remained incredibly calm, professional, patient, and kind. She handled each guest with such grace and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt heard and taken care of. When it was my turn, she welcomed me with the same warmth and kindness, explained the situation clearly, and walked me through my options. Her hospitality truly stood out to me. Beautiful high-rise hotel near the water in Long Beach. We were going on a cruise so we decided to stay at the hotel the night before. It was very close to the cruise ship and the surrounding parking garages. We were gonna park at the hotel for our cruise however they were charging $50 a day for parking. There is a parking garage less than a half mile away for $16 a day. The hotel lobby is beautiful and check-in was a breeze. We even got a free upgrade to a high floor room with a beach view. The room was clean and spacious. My only complaint is that it is very dated. read more

From our room on the 12th floor, we have a clear view of the Queen Mary and the Lighthouse, and watching sunrises and sunsets from this vantage point never gets old. The hotel is also situated at the heart of Downtown Long Beach, which provides the perfect home base for a walking exploration of downtown. There are so many events going on in this vibrant city and there is something cute and surprising at every corner. The lobby renovation injected new life into the grand scale of the space. The room was clean and well-equipped, but the on-demand feature of the TV did not work. We turned the air conditioning off as soon as we got into the room because it's not really necessary with the pleasant weather. The mattress was comfortable, but the comforter was thick and heavy, almost like a weighted blanket. My wife loved it, but it was a bit too heavy for me. The pillows were airy and soft. We had breakfast at the Navy Proof, and the service was friendly and attentive. The omelets my wife and I ordered were decent, but I thought the egg was overcooked a bit. The worst part of this hotel is the parking. The layout is confusing and the space is cramped. It's too easy to scrape the car around a tight corner if you're not careful, and judging from all the scratch marks on the wall, many vehicles were damaged this way. read more

Over all, a good hotel in a great location. Well kept up with very helpful staff. Room sizes were good and were clean. A bit odd that the bathroom don't have a vent. The tub was also slow to drain. Not a huge deal but added to some inconvenience. I had a discounted rate due to attending for a conference. I was toying with the idea of staying another night. By that time the group rate had expired. Odd thing was...the new advertised standard rate was near identical to the conference rate. It seems the conference organizers "discount rate" wasn't much of a discount at all. I'm not a fan of price games. I'm also not a fan of huge parking fees. $49 for parking. A near by hotel had parking for just $10, granted it wasn't nearly as good of a hotel. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. Always a little busy but manageable. Hotel restaurant was to be expected. Good food but over priced, which seems typical of most hotel restaurants. Over all a good hotel with some downsides. read more

We stayed here due to a family wedding so we had a great room rate and check in was friendly and smooth. The room was adequate as it has most of the amenities you need like a safe, closet, ironing board, iron, refrigerator, desk, towel racks, drawers for your clothes, a one bottle of complimentary water. However, we were missing a computer chair for the desk and the only other chair was not suitable to sit at the computer. We called special express and they brought up a computer chair and extra bottles of water. We asked why we were only given one bottle of water and they said we can refill our bottles at the dispenser located next to the ice machine (which was temporarily out of order) but we needed another bottle since there were two of us. I guess they are trying to reuse plastic water bottles to fill up at the dispenser which is fine. The room does need to have more outlets to plug in our electric devices, as there are none near the bed. Other than that, nice view, good service from housekeeping. Please note no microwave in the room. We ate breakfast at the Navy Proof Food and Spirits, which is located in the beautiful and spacious hotel lobby and the food and service was great. As far as the fitness center is concerned, it is a good sized area located off the elevator on the 5th floor. There are plenty of machines and my favorite props such as stability ball, free weights and bosu ball, mats, small rollers, as well as a water dispensing machine, sanitary wipes, towels as well as fresh fruit after your workout. Being able to stay fit and healthy is important while I travel. There is valet and paid parking at the hotel. $45 for valet and $40 for self-parking. All in all, our stay was what we expected and I am happy they have a restaurant on site and fitness center. They just need to upgrade a few things in their rooms like the outlets for electronic devices as well as making sure there are at least 2 bottles of water and a computer chair at the desk. I'm a big fan of Westins in general. However this Westin location is probably my least favorite. The rooms are clean but look like something out of a Bruce Willis movie in the 90s. They definitely need to be remodeled. The gym is not up to Westin standards in my opinion and is probably one of the most disappointing hotel gyms I've ever been to. The pool was not the designer's brightest idea, both literally and figuratively. You see, the building itself is crescent shaped. The pool, on the 5th floor is nuzzled in that crescent, meaning you don't get as much sunlight as you should throughout the day. There are some positives, the biggest being the location. There's so much to do, see, eat, and drink throughout Downtown Long Beach and Shoreline Village. You can even take the water taxi during summer season to the other side of Long Beach from Shoreline. Also, the lobby has actually been remodeled and it's modern and spacious. Lastly, employees are helpful and nice. read more

I was here for a special event & the hotel is nothing short of fabulous. Parking in the underground garage was relatively simple (though I suggest heading down to P3 as many spaces on P1 & P2 are reserved) & the staff was very warm & helpful. My group dined in one of the ballrooms & the attention to detail was superb. Staff went above & beyond to ensure everything remained clean & organized, food & beverages were always fully stocked, & our needs were met. Our lunch buffet was outstanding! It's also worth noting that the surrounding area is gorgeous...this seaside hotel is in the downtown area with close proximity to the Long Beach Convention Center. The bathroom has mold/mildew growing on the grout lines and the rug in the room is stained and dirty The elevators are grimy too All in all this place needs an overhaul back to cleanliness and it wouldn't be bad Finally, as long as you stick the the main road you should be fine to walk. My mother and I recently stayed at The Westin for 4 nights. I was in town for a conference and we were able to get a discounted rate and connect our Marriott account. We had a room with two beds and a lovely view of the city and water. The room was quiet, clean, and spacious. The hotel offered a pool area. It was small, but worked fine. The picture attached is the view. The fitness center was awesome. The hotel is conveniently located near the convention center, outlets, water, and many more Long Beach attractions. I'd give 5 stars if the wifi worked. They have you log in with last name and room number. Doesn't work. Tried signing into my Marriott account which I did with success but then the page does keeps refreshing. It Never actually allow you to get on WiFi. So after restarting my devices and redoing all the options again and wasting almost 30 mins trying, I settled for my hotspot on my phone. They really should provide an ACCESS CODE for guest especially since the option is already there on the page. read more

Stayed here 3 nights for the convention in the area. The hotel was ok, the parking was extremely limited. They had an entire floor for valet and half a level for hotel guests it felt like. Once we parked, we just walked everywhere in fear of losing our spot for good. The beds here were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I actually forgot to look at the mattress to see what the brand is. The shower head definitely needed to be cleaned and de-clogged. The stay was "OK". I was going to give 4 stars but our last night, someone from the staff had the nerve to tell us to keep it down in our own room. "We didn't receive any complaints from anyone, but I can hear you in the hall". Like bro.. obviously you can hear us right outside our doors. And no one complained... so bug off! What keeps this a 5 star review is that they were quick to make it right and offered a significant amount of Bonvoy points. I ended up only waiting about 15 mins which was well worth the points. My room stay was very comfortable. The room felt large and the bathroom was modern. The overall hotel had a very nice feel to it! Came here for a conference. I previously stayed at Westin Anaheim before and because it was so good I decided to book Westin again. However it was a big disappointment. The drain in the tub looks rusty and I could feel biofilm in the bath tub while I was showering cuz I almost slipped a few times. The wall is extremely incredibly thin. You will hear everything from your next door neighbors like flushing the toilet. This guy next to my room was coughing all night. Was woken up at 2AM because of it and had to put on AirPods to be able to fall asleep again. Maybe he has a whooping cough or something which is not his fault but the wall is just super thin. I did have dinner on the first floor and it was quite nice. I was stuffed. Steak was supposed to be medium rare but the middle is kinda rare. It was also kinda salty but overall pretty good food. read more

Came here for a Surge Trading event 2/13 to 2/15. The parking lot of this place is well lit, confusing signs and mostly compact spots. On 2/14, was directed to front desk on lobby to get parking validation. The man working at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending. He didn't acknowledge a customer waiting while he's doing his thing on the computer. While asking about parking validation, he looked at me like I'm an idiot, got all defensive and said they don't do validation. read more
