The staff are amazing. I was immediately greeted upon arrival by many of the staff members and was offered help with my luggage but I declined. The front desk was friendly and polite. She was very kind and offered a room upgrade for free to a deluxe room with a partial ocean view. Now the room is where the ratings start to go downhill. The bathroom does not have a vent so it gets very steamy and it takes awhile for it to evaporate. The bathtub did not drain quickly so the water started to pool at the beginning of the shower. The fan in the bedroom hardly works. The low and high fan are practically working at the same speed and I didn't notice any difference. The room finally got to the desired temp after about 2-3 hours. The cabinet door to the fridge was broken at a hinge so we weren't able to access the fridge at all. Also, some of the channels on cable tv were not accessible. There is a $18 resort fee they charge upon arrival that caught me by surprise. I don't remember seeing this at the time of booking but I could've overlooked it. I really wanted to like this hotel, but the defects with the room were hard to miss. However, I did enjoy the amenities and the location. There were a lot of nearby restaurants that are within walking distance.

The positives about this hotel is the location, the lobby is clean and spacious, and the restaurant is good food and service. I arrived late after the restaurant closed, so I called earlier in the day and was informed that I could use my $18 credit for that day the next day. However, there was an issue on my bill and when I informed the front desk of the conversation, they indicated there were no notes on my file. My mistake to not take down the name of the person I spoke with. The room was alright, but we found it difficult to control the temperature well. There was no tissue and we had to ask twice within 3 hours for some to be brought to the room. The walls are thin and you will definitely hear noise from other rooms. There are other hotels that are better in the area, for a similar or a bit more so I think I would stay elsewhere next time.

This was my first time staying at a Westin hotel, and I enjoyed every minute of it! The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating, and since I recently became a Bonvoy member, they upgraded me to a suite. It had multiple bathrooms, couches, and even connecting rooms--such a great surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the view was amazing. Everything about the stay felt relaxing and well taken care of. If you have to stay in Long Beach, stay here!

Imagine stepping into a snow globe, but instead of snow, it's filled with holiday cheer! That's the Westin Hotel in Long Beach during Christmas time. The whole place sparkles with festive decorations, making it feel like you've entered a winter wonderland. One of the best things about staying here during the holidays is how peaceful it is. You won't find yourself bumping elbows with crowds, which means you can truly relax and soak in the Christmas spirit. Plus, the area feels super safe, so you can wander around without a worry. And let's not forget the location! You're surrounded by yummy eats and delightful drinks, perfect for indulging in holiday treats. And for a touch of maritime magic, the Queen Mary is just around the corner, adding an extra sprinkle of enchantment to your stay. The staff are incredibly hospitable, making you feel like you're part of their holiday family. It's a truly magical experience!

I stayed there for a few nights. My toilet wasn't clean, ac didn't work , there was rust in the bathroom . There was one employee who was good. The rest didn't give me the correct information or could not explain about my incidentals.

Beautiful high-rise hotel near the water in Long Beach. We were going on a cruise so we decided to stay at the hotel the night before. It was very close to the cruise ship and the surrounding parking garages. We were gonna park at the hotel for our cruise however they were charging $50 a day for parking. There is a parking garage less than a half mile away for $16 a day. The hotel lobby is beautiful and check-in was a breeze. We even got a free upgrade to a high floor room with a beach view. The room was clean and spacious. My only complaint is that it is very dated.

Modern Comfort Meets Coastal Calm -- A True Westin Gem The Westin Long Beach was everything I hoped for in a stay -- clean, elevated, and effortlessly comfortable. Whether you're in town for business, a conference, or just soaking up some coastal SoCal vibes, this hotel delivers across the board. The highlights: Rooms are sleek and comfortable, with the signature Westin touches: heavenly beds, crisp linens, and blackout curtains that actually work. Mine had a partial ocean view and a desk setup perfect for remote work. The lobby is beautiful and inviting, with lots of natural light and modern design that makes it feel like more than just a place to pass through. Service was excellent -- from the valet team to the front desk, everyone I encountered was professional, friendly, and ready to help (early check-in? No problem). Location can't be beat -- walkable to Shoreline Village, Pike Outlets, and plenty of great restaurants and bars. It's also a quick Uber or stroll to the convention center if you're in town for work. The outdoor pool area was a surprise favorite -- peaceful, well-kept, and a great place to relax after a long day. Fitness center was better than most -- spacious, clean, and stocked with everything from free weights to Pelotons. Bonus points: The lobby bar had a great cocktail selection and small bites, perfect for unwinding without leaving the hotel. Fast elevators. IYKYK. Bottom line: The Westin Long Beach strikes that perfect balance of luxury and approachability. It's polished without being pretentious, and the staff makes you feel genuinely welcome. Would absolutely stay again -- and recommend it without hesitation.

From our room on the 12th floor, we have a clear view of the Queen Mary and the Lighthouse, and watching sunrises and sunsets from this vantage point never gets old. The hotel is also situated at the heart of Downtown Long Beach, which provides the perfect home base for a walking exploration of downtown. There are so many events going on in this vibrant city and there is something cute and surprising at every corner. The lobby renovation injected new life into the grand scale of the space. The room was clean and well-equipped, but the on-demand feature of the TV did not work. We turned the air conditioning off as soon as we got into the room because it's not really necessary with the pleasant weather. The mattress was comfortable, but the comforter was thick and heavy, almost like a weighted blanket. My wife loved it, but it was a bit too heavy for me. The pillows were airy and soft. We had breakfast at the Navy Proof, and the service was friendly and attentive. The omelets my wife and I ordered were decent, but I thought the egg was overcooked a bit. The worst part of this hotel is the parking. The layout is confusing and the space is cramped. It's too easy to scrape the car around a tight corner if you're not careful, and judging from all the scratch marks on the wall, many vehicles were damaged this way.

Over all, a good hotel in a great location. Well kept up with very helpful staff. Room sizes were good and were clean. A bit odd that the bathroom don't have a vent. The tub was also slow to drain. Not a huge deal but added to some inconvenience. I had a discounted rate due to attending for a conference. I was toying with the idea of staying another night. By that time the group rate had expired. Odd thing was...the new advertised standard rate was near identical to the conference rate. It seems the conference organizers "discount rate" wasn't much of a discount at all. I'm not a fan of price games. I'm also not a fan of huge parking fees. $49 for parking. A near by hotel had parking for just $10, granted it wasn't nearly as good of a hotel. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. Always a little busy but manageable. Hotel restaurant was to be expected. Good food but over priced, which seems typical of most hotel restaurants. Over all a good hotel with some downsides.

We stayed here due to a family wedding so we had a great room rate and check in was friendly and smooth. The room was adequate as it has most of the amenities you need like a safe, closet, ironing board, iron, refrigerator, desk, towel racks, drawers for your clothes, a one bottle of complimentary water. However, we were missing a computer chair for the desk and the only other chair was not suitable to sit at the computer. We called special express and they brought up a computer chair and extra bottles of water. We asked why we were only given one bottle of water and they said we can refill our bottles at the dispenser located next to the ice machine (which was temporarily out of order) but we needed another bottle since there were two of us. I guess they are trying to reuse plastic water bottles to fill up at the dispenser which is fine. The room does need to have more outlets to plug in our electric devices, as there are none near the bed. Other than that, nice view, good service from housekeeping. Please note no microwave in the room. We ate breakfast at the Navy Proof Food and Spirits, which is located in the beautiful and spacious hotel lobby and the food and service was great. As far as the fitness center is concerned, it is a good sized area located off the elevator on the 5th floor. There are plenty of machines and my favorite props such as stability ball, free weights and bosu ball, mats, small rollers, as well as a water dispensing machine, sanitary wipes, towels as well as fresh fruit after your workout. Being able to stay fit and healthy is important while I travel. There is valet and paid parking at the hotel. $45 for valet and $40 for self-parking. All in all, our stay was what we expected and I am happy they have a restaurant on site and fitness center. They just need to upgrade a few things in their rooms like the outlets for electronic devices as well as making sure there are at least 2 bottles of water and a computer chair at the desk. Also they have a shower/bath combo in room which is a plus

Communication leading up to our wedding was consistently poor. Emails and messages often went unanswered for days, which created a lot of unnecessary anxiety during an already stressful time. During our final walkthrough, Ciara reassured us that we would not be rushed to remove our belongings after the wedding and could even return Monday or Tuesday. She specifically shared that she had been rushed after her own wedding at this venue and did not want to do that to us. Unfortunately, the day after our wedding, that is exactly what happened. Our vendor arrived during the 12-2 p.m. pickup window we were given, only to find the venue locked. After multiple unanswered calls and texts, Ciara arrived nearly an hour later, resulting in our vendor charging us for the wait. At that same time, we were suddenly told all of our belongings needed to be removed that day, giving us essentially an hour to figure it out; completely contradicting what we had been told during our final walkthrough. Our wedding itself was wonderful, but the lack of communication and follow-through caused so much unnecessary stress before and immediately after it. As beautiful as the space is, based on our experience with management, we would not host another event here or recommend it to friends or family.

My wife and I discovered The Modern during a special event right before I proposed, and we knew that if we ever got married, this would be the place. Following our engagement, we had a tour of the place with Mary, and we were 1000% convinced with the place since Mary came with the package lol. The communication throughout the course of our planning was outstanding, and both Abel and Mary addressed all our inquiries and concerns without hesitation and with clear answers. While the conditions of the contract initially seemed rigid, all guidelines and expectations were stated clearly, and both Abel and Mary provided all the support necessary to ensure the vendors understood and executed per the contract accordingly. All terms of the pricing were transparent, and we found the costs to be worth every penny, as we were 1000% satisfied with the venue. Through the course of our two-year planning, Abel and Mary were available and offered the walkthroughs necessary for the vendors and us to plan accordingly and execute an impeccably perfect wedding. Mary did an outstanding job and exerted so much patience with both my Wife and I through the course of food and drink tasting. She assessed our preferences and perfected our specialty cocktails and food menu to reflect my wife, our guests, and I. We appreciated the opportunity to host our rehearsal brunch at their Kitchen and Bar located below the venue. Our guests enjoyed getting a small taste of the delicious food and drinks they'd be having the following day at the actual wedding. The day of the wedding could not have unfolded so perfectly, both aesthetically and logistically. Abel and Mary coordinated and collaborated in unison with our group of vendors, and they really outdid themselves by providing the foundation to our dream wedding, literally. They did an amazing and efficient job at flipping the venue space for the reception. All while our guests were enjoying themselves in the lavish lounge during cocktail hour. The venue itself is perfect. It is very modern, clean, spacious, classy, and their furniture and greenery were the perfect accessories necessary to complete our wedding day. And that's not all. The VIEWS are one of a kind as the venue has an entire wall space made up of windows that overlooks Long Beach Airport and an outdoor terrace that allowed us and our guests to enjoy the views. We literally had airplanes flying up and down during our entire wedding, with a grand exit of us flying off in a helicopter. My wife, our guests, and I cannot believe how perfect the entire day turned out. They will not stop raving about how perfect and beautiful everything turned out. From the food to the drinks and the wonderful bartenders, and of course to how magically, beautiful our wedding was. None of which would have been possible without the fantastic venue, Abel, Mary and their team. While we are saddened to turn the chapter from the wedding planning and wedding, we are so so so happy we chose The Modern. I had breakfast here this weekend. The waiters were friendly and attentive as always, and it's nice to see familiar faces. The food, though, has really gone downhill. I'm not a picky eater, but the biscuits and gravy were just... gross. The biscuit was flat and mushy, and the gravy was bland and clearly out of a can or bag. It even had these thin, uniform little squares of sausage in it, more like something you'd find in dog food than the small chunks of fried, browned sausage you'd expect. Biscuits and gravy is like 90% just made of flour, so I have a hard time believing the premade version is actually saving much money over making it fresh. The kitchen already goes through so much sausage that it seems like an easy fix to use real drippings and meat instead of whatever this was. The hash browns were bland too, undercooked inside and overcooked outside. And the "maple syrup" was high fructose corn syrup with brown dye and flavoring. No one wants to feed that to their kids. I'd happily pay a dollar more for real syrup. Everyone's cutting costs these days, but there has to be more pride and care put into the food you serve patrons. We love this restaurant and hope to see the quality back to where it was. The waiters and cooks deserve better ingredients to work with, and the neighborhood regulars who count on this place deserve better too.

The soda fountain we paid $400+ for was soda cans in a small metal ice tub. Booking they say they give you two hours to set up before your wedding. Not true. They start setting up their part two hours before and once they had all the tables down then we could set up. They say they are transparent about booking in the same space before you. They didn't tell me they booked a baby shower until 3pm when my wedding was at 6pm until I asked the day before. **If you book, negotiate to be the only booking for that space** A two hour set up right before our wedding was awful! We had to set up in full hair and make up and missed many first look opportunities. The worst part was after working like crazy to get it all ready right before we walk down the aisle, our details coordinator brought in other potential clients to show off the space. Instead of ensuring our desserts were taken care of. Would not recommend for a wedding.
