This review is overdue and while it may have been a while. I am still going to post this as this was my experience. First of all, location is great. Can't go wrong with that. However the service was the worst service i have ever received from a hotel. During check in, there were fees that were not disclosed and had spend time going back n forth for them to explain it. Then we come to the pool to relax, maybe 30 mins later security comes saying they got a call that we were harassing other people in the pool. The problem is there was no one in the pool. we asked to see footage of the allegations and nothing. No communication, no transparency. The security guards that came over didn't know how to talk and didn't want to properly disclose anything. Marriot was my my choice of hotels but after this incident, I can't bring myself to support them. Honestly it probably is just this location only. I am very disappointed with the service read more

Wow! Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend for a birthday celebration, and we were impressed by the hotel. The look, ambiance and feel of the hotel was amazing. Staff at the front desk was great, always approachable. Property has plenty of parking spaces, might be a little tight and a challenge for larger trucks/SUVs. When we got into the room we were highly impressed by the aesthetic, it was like quiet modern but had minimalist feels to it, plenty of outlets. Bathroom had plenty of counter space, we love the lamps in the room too. Just overall pleasing to the eyes. We had lounge access with our bonvoy membership, the staff at the lounge could be a little better, did not feel welcoming during service hours when staff was there. Breakfast selections was much better than the afternoon selection. Coffee machine was out of order for the 2 days we were there. We ordered room service one day, had the saucy wings and burrata flatbread, both surprisingly amazing! Just be aware, property does have resort fee. Overall, highly recommend, we'd probably stay again! read more

A small Starbucks is present in the side lobby area. My room was on the 8th floor & the views were great! Accommodations Very nice. Room was very clean and smelled that way! Bed was comfortable and linens/bedding were soft and warm enough. Pillows were great! No obvious stains on the carpet. Bathroom was clean and well designed. Towels were clean and fresh. There was an in room safe and a handheld clothes steamer. Classy. It was nice to have a refrigerator and there was an area on the floor with ice, a water refill station, and a microwave. Really appreciated not having to go down to the lobby to reheat leftovers. The walls are a little thin but not a problem with earplugs lol. Love the window seat where I enjoyed a cabernet nightcap. Love that the location was central to restaurants and pretty good food trucks. Parking Self Parking is $45 per day and the garage is accessible. I believe valet parking is also available. Bar Hotel has a bar in the lobby. A glass of Cabernet was $22 with tip (approximately) but it was really good. Market The on-site Market had Starbucks coffee daily that was included in the stay, and it was delicious and hot! My husband came back from the East Coast and because his company pays for travel, he chose to stay here & we had a mini staycation for a week, starting on Valentine's Day. (This is WAAAAAAY nicer than the Hilton by the freeway.) The room is so nice with great lighting (I would've preferred pool or ocean view or a bathroom with a soaking tub but it had a cute window seat & the king sized bed is so comfortable!) The weather was crazy and throwing a tantrum with winds and storm but the guards were so nice, the front desk was nice, the room service and staff are all amazing, the coffee shop staff were sweet, the bar tender was amazing, the restaurant staff was great too! Everyone here was great! Shout out to Robert, the bar tender & his mustache! I came over with my husband wanting a hot chocolate but with alcohol before we went out for the night. He whipped up something sooooo good: I think it was hot chocolate, vanilla vodka, Bailey's & Kahlua? With whipped cream! Omg! An orgasm in my mouth! It's not on the menu but we're calling it the "Dirty little hot chocolate" so you can ask for that if you see Robert and mention me and he'll whip it up for you. ;) Shout out to the room service and the cleaning staff! Y'all are such hard workers! Thank you for always making our bed, changing our sheets & towels and lining our shoes up and even putting our toothbrushes on clean towels & lining up our toiletries! Big tip coming your way! Oh! The gym is decent too! Very important in a hotel! The hot tub and the heated pool were refreshing! Maybe more enjoyable when the weather isn't so windy but who can refuse a hot tub soak to decompress after work? All in all, totally worth the stay! Do NOT stay here. I booked two rooms at this "4 star hotel" for my family vacation. However, the experience was TERRIBLE! Upon entering the building to check in, I was brazenly stopped by a private security guard who worked for the private company, Allied. The guard demanded to see our identification before allowing us to enter into the hotel... We had multiple bags and suitcases and were not greeted in a pleasant or professional manner. Rather than delivering ANY degree of hospitable service, we were treated like we were criminals when we were just checking in to our alleged "4 star" hotel. Once we finally got inside the building, we continually met more of these allied agents who constantly asked for our identification. You couldn't walk more than 5 feet without encountering one of these people. We were literally being harassed the entire time. When I finally got to the front desk, the actual Marriott employee explained that a very wealthy/famous person was staying at the hotel and that the allied guards were their personal security... Marriott claimed that they were not in control of those guard yet there were DOZENS of them all posturing as if they were hotel security demanding identification from all hotel guests--nearly every 20-30 seconds. It is clear that Marriott allowed this behavior and does not care AT ALL about their guest's experience. Then, to make matters worse, when my mom attempted to enter the hotel, she was stopped by more allied guards and an LAPD officer for attempting to enter THE HOTEL THAT WE PAID NEARLY $1,000/NIGHT TO STAY IN... Frankly, if someone is THAT important, then Marriott should make them buy out the entire hotel. Don't even sell additional rooms if you're just going to treat your non-billionaire guests like utter trash... What we experienced was pure ELITISM at its finest--and Marriott should be ashamed. I strongly urge you to NEVER stay here. read more

Our room was beautiful - the property is beautiful! I've stayed in Long Beach a few times but have stayed near the water with a harbor view and steps away from taking the ferry to Catalina Island. Our nights were very restless. It's drag racing all night or emergency vehicles yes racing during the week! I booked three rooms so you know my total was very expensive! Previous stays have been in Beverly Hills. Considering I needed three rooms I wanted to be somewhere nice and affordable for my family of 6. Again - I have to admit the property was nice but not being able to sleep in 5 days was not good. Before you ask - no comps for the inconvenience! read more

Do not book a hotel here. I accidentally booked the wrong hotel, I canceled the room, they refused to give me my money back. After contacting my credit card, this Marriott still refused to give me my money back. I decided to reinstate my reservation, which they allowed. However this hotel refused to let me check in , and wanted me to pay again to stay here, after they already took my money. They are still refusing to give me my money back. I've never had a staff so rude to me, the management needs to be fired. They took 300.00 from me, wouldn't let me check in unless I paid another 300.00 after they already took my money. The hotel itself is very nice, convenient location, nicely renovated. However, this isn't cheap. But they act like you paid nothing to be here. I agree with the negative reviews. Most staff is condescending and acting like we are stealing from them. As a titanium elite bonvoy member, I expected waay better experience. The club is accessible but they have a little attendance list. Only 2 people allowed, gotta pay for my young kids. For what?! The 2 spring rolls and 3 pieces of cheese in the hors d'oeurves. Breakfast- I entered through the club with my key card, check out the buffet, wasn't allowed back in until she checked the attendance list (which is paper, not efficient) so I just left. BIG LUXURY HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN LONG BEACH We actually didn't book this hotel. We had booked a hotel for one night that was closer to our cruise terminal for the next day's boarding. However, we were likely bumped because a marathon was in town. Oddly, though, THAT hotel booked us in THIS hotel and paid for our one-night stay! WOW, like winning a free vacation! LOL We found THIS hotel very posh and cozy. No complaints, but we only stayed one night, so we can't give a comprehensive review. Unfortunately, the Marriott itself has only one dining location, called Local Current, and that is next to the lobby. Here you can get breakfast lunch and dinner via a limited menu. Nothing impressive. There is no big lobby space and there is limited staff everywhere, including the reception. Getting a bell boy to help with luggage was a chore. There is parking in the hotel structure, but you have to pay daily. There is a market store for coffee or to pick up limited fast eats, juices, soda and water. There is a pool onsite. The rooms are well maintained but the hallways are narrow. The 4 elevators moved fast and minimized wait time. Prices to stay here are high, compared to the competition, where in addition, you get much more, in terms of amenities and facilities. read more

Staff wasn't friendly or attentive, towels and pillowcases smelled bad (even "fresh" ones), valet was nowhere to be found, and elevator security didn't work. Worst part--was told late checkout to 12:30pm was complimentary, but got charged $30 anyway, plus extra fees on top of my $870 booking total. Not about the money--it's the shady practice. I am a longtime Bonvoy member and overall, my experience at this Marriott was very mixed. On the positive side, the property appears to have been recently renovated, the rooms and the lobby feel new. The location is great, you can easily walk to the convention center and to shoreline village. On the negative side, they charge a $30 destination fee and then give you a $30 per day food and beverage credit. Why? Can we stop with all the fees? Although the server in the lobby restaurant/lounge was extremely personable, i noticed on both nights, the restaurant was busy and she was the only one working and service was extremely slow. My biggest issue was the noise level, we were awakened repeatedly by sirens going up and down the street and people yelling and shouting in the street and park that is out back of the hotel. read more

We had a dirty towel so the staff was quick to bring us fresh ones and rectified our concern quickly. My wife's sister in law, Carolyn, would stay here. I have stayed at a few Marriott Properties over the years and this location in LBC is a solid choice for a quick overnighter before my cruise. This hotel is close to the port which is a bonus. The lobby is beautiful and the staff was friendly and attentive. Huge shoutout to Jazmin & Rey at the front desk for going above and beyond to help me print some cruise docs. Life savers indeed! The hotel does have a resort fee but it included a $35 dollar f&b credit. I totally used my credit to buy Starbucks in the lobby, fresh fruit and a few snacks for the cruise. I upgraded to an ocean view on the 8th floor because the room was ready and I arrived earlier than standard 4pm check in time. The room had great natural light, comfy beds and the pillow mist was a thoughtful touch. The pillow mist scent was such a relaxing scent. I'm totally a bath junkie and for a big and tall girl like myself the tub was just okay. The bathroom overall was very spacious which I appreciated. If you're staying in the Long Beach area and want something clean, cozy and convenient I'd definitely recommend this spot. read more

Just had dinner at the lounge area and had one to the worse customer service experience ever. The worst part is that I invited 4 of my local friends witb me and they were also treated with bad customer service. "Mark" seemed to be the slowest bartender on earth. His vibe and attitude were like no other. We had to sit there and speak out loud to get service. They didn't have many of the drinks that were on their menu. I was very tempted to not tip at all.... But I rather pay a 18% tip and let leadership know what bad service is taking places. With so many options available, I would not recommend this place. I asked to speak to Martha the current manager, but she never shows up. Someone needs to fix this. I wish I could get a refund. read more

Racism and fraud: Not a good look! First security told me they were opening a case against me for theft (I still had 5 days left at the hotel, so it's not like I left with anything) but when I pushed back the "case" they were threatening to open was because when I changed rooms I took the tissue box from one room to the other. Yep. One tissue box was moved three doors down. They didn't just ask for the tissue box, they did a 10 minute FBI investigation bit first. Second. They used an old card from the app "on accident." I went to give them the current card and I paid in full. Days later we still have hundreds of unauthorized charges on an old card with a DIFFERENT PERSON'S NAME ON IT. I had that person call and tell them they charged the wrong card and they told her off. Like she was bothering them. Vicky in accounting needs some training because she doesn't know what she is doing. Then when I called back to confirm, the man actually said the words "TOO BAD" to me. I said that's not how bank fraud works and since you refuse to even listen to my concern, this is being reported as fraud by my family member because you charged their card for a trip they are not even on after I gave you my card and paid in full. "WELL I GUESS ITS YOUR PROBLEM NOW." And he said he was the manager, so there was no one else to speak to. So... I've been a member for years and have their super special status but I will never ever in a million years even for free stay at the Marriott Downtown in Long Beach. I moved two blocks down to the road to the Courtyard because they were such jerks. There's 20 hotels within two miles. Just stay at one of those. read more

Integrity. Customer service. Convenience. Clean room. Everything I could hope for from a hotel I stay at. Their Integrity is what motivated me to write this review. We checked out a few days ago. The day after we checked out, I had called asking if anyone found unsigned checks that my wife had placed into the bible (of all places) that the room had. The person (Brian?) from Security/Loss prevention went to the room personally to see if they were there. Long story short, Isaiah from the same office calls me today (4 days later) to tell me they found the checks. We just coordinated how they'll be sending them back to me (I don't live in California) . I just had to say I'm grateful for the time and effort Isaiah and his colleagues at Marriott Long Beach Downtown put into making this happen. Having stayed here in the past when this place was the Renaissance and having enjoyed the hotel , I was very excited to see this place get renovated. The Rooms are large and the staff work hard to accommodate every request. They do have an M club if you are platinum elite or staying in select rooms. Sadly I'm gold so I don't get access. Other amenities they feature is a pool and hot tub. Location is perfect if you have an event in downtown Long Beach. They do charge a $30 destination fee which is the norm, however this property does give you a daily food and beverage credit of $30.00 I wish more hotels would do that . I did use it to order off the menu for breakfast. Food was great and service was amazing . They do have a breakfast Buffett for $34 a person. They also have a nice out door area at the restaurant and bar. Hopefully the weather is better my next visit so I can enjoy a cocktail outside. Happy to see the results of the renovation, I will continue to stay loyal to this hotel when visiting Long Beach. read more

They asked for a card for "incidentals, and I was automatically charged per day we would be there, which took my $800 budget to $64. They said we got $30/day to use for food, courtesy. Then charged the $30/day to us. We were refunded less than half the hold, then charged another $400. I have been over drawn by $366 since coming back from our trip (on the 9th) because I cannot get any more funds until my next payday. AND to top that off, I cannot reach the hotel. Every number I try, takes me to reservations, I just want to talk to a real person about this. At least the beds were comply and there was a reading nook-esk to watch the sunset. My wife and I recently stayed at the Marriott LB Downtown prior to a cruise. Hotel is in a perfect location to easily get to local restaurants and to the cruise terminal. We had a fantastic stay! We knew we would have a great stay since our check in experience was friendly, quick and easy! The room was beautifully appointed. Everything was fresh, clean and welcoming. They said they did so but once checked out I noticed another Bonvoy number on my receipt. This hotel is a total disaster. As a longtime Bonvoy member and a frequent visitor to Westin properties, I was pretty shocked and disappointed by our stay. I'll start with the big picture problems and then move to the pettier ones. The first major problem was our shower. The shower diverter (little thing on the tub faucet) was broken. When you pulled up, the water would trickle through the shower head but continue to pour through the tub faucet. The same thing was true for the hand shower that was available. Because of the flow of water from the tub faucet, the tub would back up terribly during a shower. When we alerted the front desk, they sent someone to fix it who rooted out the drain, but did not touch the diverter, meaning the problem persisted. We also had an issue with the tub stopper which was very old, cracked, and full of mold (see photo), so taking a bath was not an option either. The second major problem occurred at night. Our room was above a terrace where guests were at an event. They were screaming quite late into the night. At nearly midnight, we called the front desk to ask them to ask the guests to be more quiet and were essentially told that the hotel would not do this. I understand that hosting events is a money maker for the hotel, but doing this at the expense of the overnight guests' sleep seems really unwise. The third issue happened on the morning of our check out. At 8 am we went to the lobby to purchase coffee. When we returned to our room, neither of our keys worked. We went to the front desk where they replaced our keys. The replacement keys still did not work. So we got another set of keys (which did not work) and were instructed to wait for security. After sitting outside our room in the floor of the hallway for over 15 minutes, security let us into our room. The keys still did not work, so we had to leave the room instead of enjoying our morning in Long Beach and coming back to the hotel at check out time. No one on the customer service team apologized or made any excuse for this. The security personnel was extremely apologetic, but the lack of a functional door was not his fault. Other petty issues: No outlets near the bed (not just no USB or USB-C outlets - literally no plug at all); the WiFi is so slow we could not even send an email; the bathroom has no fan and so becomes steamy for hours on end even after running a very short shower. I'm so disappointed in this property and not only will I not return, but I will likely not return to other Westin properties if this is how the brand is deteriorating. read more

On Thanksgiving, we went to the hotel restaurant for a holiday buffet meal. The atmosphere is pleasant even though it's in the lobby of the hotel. The buffet was priced at $89 per person. At that price you would expect a better quality meal. Most everything was cold, the Turkey was average, the mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty bad and the squash soup (cold) was bland. The deserts were the typical thaw and serve commercial ones. They were overly wet and just not up to par. Three people, 3 drinks and the total was $398.00. Very disappointing. read more
