Good stay close to event. Friendly staff and accessible to restaurants. Easy in and out.

Our family has stayed here a bunch when we come to the area to visit with relatives. Residence Inn has been our go to since whatever happened with the Wingate across the way. Overall not the worst lodging experience one can have. The staff are always nice and welcoming, and the complimentary breakfast is decent. Pretty standard hotel fare (think waffles, cereal, eggs, etc.) The rooms are okay, and are accommodating for decent sized groups. The kitchenette is nice to have, although it could do with a few more trays and such. The furniture is the sore thumb, being noticeably dated and worn. The pool is outdoors, and thus I cannot comment on that, given we stayed in the middle of winter. We'll likely be back again seeing as we always stay here when in town, but I hope that they can update the place a bit. ( And maybe get a couple more luggage carts too.) Our room was very worn and dated, not very clean. A bummer for the price we paid! Don't stay in room 221!!!! The couch and lampshades had stains. We put a sheet over the couch so we didn't feel grossed out sitting on it. The windows had junk all over them (from sticky kid hands or dog slobber?). The toilet seat was broken. The kitchen chairs were torn up. The light in the bedroom was broken. The kitchen was not stocked well with dishes/pots/pans, no dish soap offered. The paint was peeling in the bathroom. The room did not seem like a 3 star hotel. Room 221 needs to be offered at a much lower price until it's updated. We had to call for our hotel room to be vacuumed when we checked in- crumbs all over the kitchen floor and kitchen chairs. We travelled with a 1 year old and she found alllll of the leftover cat food/dog food, crumbs, old candy on the floors in each room. Gross. There wasn't exactly a continental breakfast included. Verrrry limited food offered. Rooms were not cleaned regularly, only when requested because of low staff. This was understandable because we are in a pandemic and there wasn't enough staff to run the hotel very well. A discount should probably have been offered to account for this. The staff were very kind and doing the best they could under the circumstances. The manager worked with us to do a complicated point upgrade, much appreciated. read more

We opted to stay at the residence in because it was close to the hockey rink and other restaurants. I can't say enough about how wonderful this property is. We have a two room, king bed suite equipped with full size allowance and two full on suite bathrooms. It seems to either be brand new or newly remodels. The free breakfast with lots of healthy options is a welcome bonus! read more

Pros: Friendly staff (for the most part), spacious rooms, in-room kitchenette and on-site laundry were convenient, pool was nice. There was one man, in particular, at the front desk who was extremely friendly. He talked to us each time we walked through the lobby, and always made us smile. I wish I'd gotten his name. Cons: Everything else Upon check-in, we were informed that due to COVID, they were only cleaning rooms once every 5 days. Which meant that during our 9-day stay, we were allowed one cleaning. I get that it's COVID and that staffing is short, but once every 5 days?? We were instructed to leave our trash outside of our door. We were also informed that there was a dog show in town. We witnessed several people walking through the lobby with multiple dogs (one room had at least 4 that we counted). Given what we later learned about the less-than-thorough cleaning done between guests, this grossed me out. If you are looking for a hotel that has thorough cleaning and COVID protocols, this isn't the place for you. The room: King suite with kitchenette. The room keys (we had 3) never worked. Ever. It usually took 10 tries to open the door. The floors were dirty when we checked in.The bed and sofa bed were both sagging and warped. My son (who sleeps anywhere and everywhere) couldn't sleep on the sofa bed because it was so bad. I wish I'd gotten a picture. We found a dirty sock from a previous guest near (not under) the couch. The kitchenette was convenient, but the dishes clearly hadn't been cleaned. Pans had dried up food stuck on them, coffee mugs were disgusting. We were given one packet of dishwasher soap. No regular dish soap or sponge was provided. We ended up having to go to the front desk to request dishwasher soap when we needed it. I ended up buying a small bottle of dish soap and a sponge, as none was provided. We were given 3 plates/bowls, and it seemed like such a waste to run the dishwasher for such a small amount of dishes. There was a small trash can provided under the sink, but it wasn't large enough to handle trash from one take-out meal. I ended up buying my own garbage bags at the store. The dishwasher was...crusty. Not sure how else to put it. It was in desperate need of cleaning and maintenance. The bathroom was equally gross. The tub had a large stain. We called the front desk and they sent up a very disgruntled man who insisted "that's just how it is", and made a big show of pretending to scrub it to show us that it was, in fact, a stain. The shower curtain had mold spots all over it. The shower curtain rod was broken and falling off the wall. This caused the curtain to leave a 6-inch gap on either side of the tub, which in turn caused the bathroom to flood every time we showered, despite our best efforts. We called maintenance about that. They sent up a very friendly man who fixed the shower curtain rod. But there was still enough water escaping that the floor was covered in water. We ended up lining the floor with towels every time we showered. We were told to leave dirty towels outside our door (along with our garbage), and they'd be taken away. Eventually. A walk through the hotel showed bags of garbage and wet towels lining the hallways everywhere. At times, they would sit there for a full day before being picked up. And we went to the front desk for more towels. The breakfast: Skip it! Gross, soggy microwaved breakfast sandwiches and pancakes wrapped in Saran Wrap. Crappy coffee. Oatmeal packets. Nothing fresh. We tried it once. Didn't bother going back. The building itself: NOT GOOD. The elevator was SLOW, and there were many times we thought the doors weren't going to open. The walls/doors to the hallway were extremely thin. If anyone was in the hallway, you knew it. On one occasion, it was a large family that had checked in very late. They were screaming (and I do mean SCREAMING) in the elevator, so loud we could hear them from our room before they even got to our floor. When they got out of the elevator, they continued screaming and creating an insane amount of noise. Several guests (myself included) walked out into the hallway to see what was happening. When we asked them to keep it down, the lady screamed at me and clearly didn't care that they had woken up the entire floor. On a separate occasion, two people got into a very loud altercation in the hallway in the middle of the night. It lasted for quite a while. They eventually moved outside, but even then it was loud enough to prevent us from sleeping. Worst of all were the bugs/cockroaches. Most notably, in the hallway right outside of the "kitchen" (aka where the microwave breakfast, and in our bathroom. Overall, we were extremely disappointed in our stay, and were happy to check out. It's clear the owner doesn't care about basic maintenance and upkeep. A few updates and some TLC could greatly improve this hotel. read more

Here's why I'm giving this place only 3 stars? GPS took us on a mission to find this place. Since it's right off the freeway but you have to go a ways down to get to the street. I felt like a kid again (before GPS/Cellphones) where we go lost and didn't know our way around. Give us a break we had been driving for nearly 11 hours. Lol The customer service was the tops, no complaints there! Staff was great checking is in knowing we had been on a long drive in from Dover, NH. Our room was very nice and the bed was perfect (Nice N' Hard) The bathroom however was a bit of a surprise. After our long drive the Fiancé and I just wanted to take showers, jump in bed, and sleep. We still had to finish another 9 hour drive to Peoria, IL.. So we both jump into the shower, washing my face first and rinsing the soap off I ask for a washcloth, the Fiancé hands me a washcloth.... From off the top shower curtain!!! .... "Hmmm, wow... I didn't put that there," he looks at me. "WHAT!" he belts out. GROSS! It was all hard and crusty.... Ewwwwwwwwwww..... Lol. The housekeeper must've over looked it. I plan to NEVER take anything the Fiancé hands me while in a hotel shower again! TRUST. BROKEN! Other than that, everything was good. Breakfast was also very good! As subtle retaliation, I took an extra moisturizer from the housekeeper cart. read more

I've stayed in Residence Inns all over the country and appreciate how consistently clean they are, and this one is no different. Overall the rooms are large, comfortable, and the staff is great. The reason for the mediocre rating is because of the ridiculous $75 pet fee they charge per night here, which is inconsistent with other Residence Inns. I understand a pet is an extra liability, but would like to see this changed to a deposit vs. a fee since the fee does not come with any explanation regarding what it covers which makes it feel like a scam. read more

for starter, they split my family up even though we booked rooms ALL TOGETHER, the bathroom (toilet, shower, and sink) aren't connected to eachother (there's a separate room for toilet/shwoer and sink) and the sink is so loud and it's so cold and the microwave doesn't work. read more

My husband and I have been staying at this property for the past 9 years each time we visit my parents in Mentor. On this last visit over 4th of July weekend, our stay was less than stellar. My husband is a Marriott Titanium for Life Member, and while we understand upgrades cannot always be accommodated, after a series of unfortunate events after check-in, we were then made aware of the upgraded rooms that were, in fact, available. The Bonvoy app and website for this property list a crib as an amenity, which we called ahead and requested. When we arrived to the hotel after a long day of travel with a 5 and 2 year old, not only were we greeted by the smell of marijuana in the hallway, we found that there was a pack-and-play set up in our room - not a crib! Far too small for my 2 year old to sleep in. I called the front desk and spoke with Allison, who could use some training in customer service as she was dismissive and outright rude when I asked for her help in getting a crib in our room. After three calls to the desk, she finally transferred me to the manager, whose name I believe is Michelle, who was more empathetic but had no crib to offer. She did at this point offer us a room upgrade to a two bedroom, which miraculously must have become available just after my complaint about the marijuana in the hotel. I passed on this offer since it was 10pm at this point but did let her know that Marriott would hear about the drug-laden activity in the hotel. Two mornings later, just before 9am, we saw two men passing a joint outside their car in the parking lot. If you're a family traveling, I would absolutely NOT recommend this hotel. There are plenty of suite-type hotels right there on Emerald Court that likely won't cater to this riffraff. All of this aside, I do have to say that the breakfast buffet is nice and the staff who worked breakfast were amazing and so sweet to my sons. read more

This Residence Inn turned out to be one of the better places I've stayed lately - thanks Marriott! For starters - check in was quick and the staff were amazingly friendly and always smiled and eager to make you feel good about being at their establishment. Next - everything in this hotel worked - elevators, pool, hot tub, all appliances in the room, coffee pots and they opted in for many extras that are getting harder and harder to find in this level of hotel. Complimentary coffee and tea 24/7, free hot breakfasts, free newspapers, the right touches in the rooms AND everything was clean. It means more when a suite is clean in every room vs one small room at most places. The bed was very nice - bedding was comfortable, fresh smelling and clean. The towels are nice and white and soft - and the 6:00 social with the baked potato bar, salad, chili and chips and salsa were all excellent. And the beer and wine were both nice and cold along with a variety of soda's to pick from. And no social would be complete without desert, which were lemon bars that were quite good. Also - food for thought - for a $75.00 one time fee you can bring your pets. Of course mine wouldn't have been appreciated - GSD's normally are not looked at as the most friendly dogs - even though they are! The price for what is offered is a great value. Another added plus is the HEATED swimming pool - you need that in this area for sure. They also have a BB court and a decent fitness center. Putting it all together and this one gets the 5 star as I found nothing wrong! read more

Decent hotel. Could use some updates. carpeting throughout the property as well as a couple new luggage carts. Disappointed the outdoor pool wasn't opened considering chlorine kills covid and it doesn't do well in sunlight but I digress. At the very least it should be required to be updated on the properties features listed. Not in a blanket buyer beware banner on the hotels.com. If it's closed it should state clearly it is closed. read more

Stayed here while attending the A-10 Conference Swimming & Diving championships (Geneva, OH at Spire Institute). Great location, great room, great night's sleep for 3 nights...loved the place. Several restaurants nearby - make sure you go to the pizza place on Diamond Rd in the strip mall with Brown Derby. Great calzones! The hotel was very accommodating. Staff very friendly. Gave great directions to several nearby places of interest for photography, food, and fun. Check out the Headlands Park - it was winter so couldn't get down on the beach easily - too much snow! We made reservations at this hotel earlier this month, as we usually stay here when visiting the area. We used the Mariotte website to make sure we had the two room suite for our stay. It seems like the website accepted our reservation, but the last day was not included when sent to the hotel. The hotel called us and explained that we did not have the room for the last day. The Marriott company and the hotel took care of the problem in a professional and timely manner...we recommend them! read more

What an awesome staff and great accommodations! My family and I ended up staying there last week after we had some issues with our reservations at a competing hotel. From the time we called to see if there was a room available, Sarah was incredibly accommodating and helpful. We got over to the hotel and she automatically knew who we were. She got us in our room and showed us amazing hospitality. She really deserves a promotion. She wasn't the only one who was helpful. Everyone who we came into contact with on the staff was great! From the minute we walked into the Hotel the staff was nothing but accommodating and friendly. The rooms were spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good!! I would definitely recommend this hotel or stay there again should we come back to Mentor, OH. read more
