We had the Peacock room, which was perfect for me considering that blue is my favorite color. Everything was so perfect I hated to mess it up. Seriously there are thousands of hotels that have soap right now...there's dozens on the supermarket shelves and this hotel can't go buy soap for their customers. Imagine people in this hotel wiping their butt and not washing their hands! I was given small bottles of shampoo to use. I actually really like the scented wall mounted shampoo and body gel in the shower...maybe they need to do something like this for the sink? This is health issue and Poor management!

When we arrived around 4:00 PM on July 23, the front desk could not locate our reservation for two rooms, and we had to search our emails before it could be found. We also learned the hotel no longer had a pool, despite one being advertised when we booked. We specifically chose this hotel because our nephew loves to swim. After checking in, my sister and I found our beds appeared to have been previously used. Instead of providing clean sheets, we were moved to another room but did not receive it until about 7:00 PM. Our parents also had to change rooms because the electric blinds would not close. The replacement room had poor airflow and a window completely fogged from condensation between the glass panes. Checkout on July 27 was even more frustrating. We were told we owed $50 despite only charging about $18 in bottled water. The front desk employee was courteous, but the manager, Amanda Deen, refused to speak with us and instead had the employee repeatedly relay messages. The balance then changed from $50 to $18, and we were told to pay an additional $13. After spending 30-45 minutes trying to resolve the issue, we paid simply to leave. The manager only came out after my sister stated that it was unacceptable for a manager to avoid speaking directly with guests during a billing dispute. As we were leaving, another guest reported her duvet was also dirty, reinforcing our concerns about the hotel's housekeeping standards. While the front desk employees were polite, the reservation confusion, misleading pool advertisement, housekeeping concerns, room maintenance problems, billing confusion, and lack of management support made this stay far below the standards we expect from a Hampton Inn.

When I booked I was told $113 for the reservation but they charged my card for $130 and stated there were two additional tax charges. I've never been charged tax for an occupancy fee. The worst part of this is that not only are the carpets unsafe, there is green nasty stuff all over the walls in the pool area, plaster falling from the ceiling, and a giant hole in the ceiling with a tarp over it! My 3 year old granddaughter tripped on the large wrinkles in the carpet. When I tried to address it with the staff (to see it they could put some sort of rug over it for safety) I was told to call on Monday to talk to a manager. I called and no manager to talk to. The lady I spoke with said, "the place is old and repairs are slow to take place". I let her know that I want a manager to return my call as this place was far from worth $130 for 1 night.

Pretty standard hotel fare (think waffles, cereal, eggs, etc.) The rooms are okay, and are accommodating for decent sized groups. The kitchenette is nice to have, although it could do with a few more trays and such. The furniture is the sore thumb, being noticeably dated and worn. The pool is outdoors, and thus I cannot comment on that, given we stayed in the middle of winter. We'll likely be back again seeing as we always stay here when in town, but I hope that they can update the place a bit. ( And maybe get a couple more luggage carts too.) We told them we needed a room avail asap because we had driven 5 hours and had limited time to get ready for an event, so they gave us a different room, which was fine, but I made sure to let her know that we didn't want to pay more for another room since ours wasn't ready. But then the lady bit my head off and yelled that she never said we were going to pay more. Anyway, she gave us the key to a room that was ready. We got ready for the concert, left for the concert, and got a call from her husband that we had to go back and get our stuff because they were kicking us out! I had never heard of such a thing! They said they were calling the booking company, and I informed him that I was calling the police. We went back and got our stuff. I called the booking company to make sure we weren't getting charged, and we booked elsewhere. Police never showed anyway. I had urged the man to watch a video of us checking in so he could see we didn't deserve to get kicked out, and he refused. He would hardly engage in any convo with us at all. I travel a ton and have never encountered anything like this before. If you book here, have a back up plan and be careful to act like a robot checking in because anything misconstrued as rude will get you kicked out!

In brief, this is a 'No-Frills' extended stay hotel, and I only had minor issues. Those issues have…read moreto do with the censored, NON-wifi internet and emotionless staff. The hotel is geared for long-term (i.e. extended) stay traveler/guests. You have to pay by the week and not by the day. They charge a very reasonable weekly rate (b'tween $219-$269) depending on the time of year and room type (3 types). I stayed in the low end studio. The rates are only for the room. Even though they have stoves and are extended stay, and unlike say their competitor ExtendedStay America, they don't have cooking pans, dishes, drinking items or utensils. You can get them for a one time payment of $30. That comes with 2 glasses, utensils, dishes and a frying pan and sauce pan (with cleaning towels). You also must pay extra for 'unlimited' clean towels and linens. What that means is, since the hotel only supplies your room with 2 bath towels, 2 wash clothes (also a bath mat) and bed linens, once you use them, you can switch out at cost (forgot that cost). But if pay $10 per week, you can switch multiple times within a week. It also includes unlimited toilet paper. The internet is also extra (surprise, surprise) at $10 per week. It was a DSL cable, NOT wi-fi (but my last week on August 12th, they added wi-fi). It is okay, but they have managed to censor it from porn sites and sites that are torrent related. And any censoring is bad in my eyes. Other issues are the staff doesn't seem that friendly. That is not a total negative, but a smile and a hello every once in blue moon would have been nice. I did have an issue with my air conditioner where it would shut down for no reason and maintenance had no clue what to do. The unit gave a code of 'Br', so I looked it up on the internet. It was a breaker issue. I made a copy of the manual code page for the maintenance person and he did nothing. I managed to keep it working by occasional unplugging it and replugging it and it would keep working. So maintenance is a negative. It was a clean place, nice simple clean rooms, nice laundry room, working elevator and good location to everything (restaurants, roads, Cleveland). For the price, even with the extra costs, is good. If you want nicer and pricer, there is a Residence Inn next door, but if you are on a budget, nothing comes close to Value Place prices.

It's literally a window which is closed for a good portion of the night, so forget about trying to check in late at night. I could go on but instead I'll just recommend you avoid this place.
