I stated how crazy that is and that this is the Ritz and they laughed at me when they went back to their little covered hut. Things are really poorly run and items were broken in the room and run down. The AC sounded like a freight train. They gave us the wrong room to begin with too! We had to wait hours for it to be rectified. They did offer to comp the first night, but things kept getting worse so we made the executive decision to leave. WARNING: Club level also no longer serves lunch either Mon-Thursday. They also had a horrible dinner -- we didn't stay for more since the disappointment was too much. The "meal" was overcooked steak and chicken and a rice that looked as if it had been frozen. I would have preferred Taco Bell. The lady who was working had her back turned to me and didn't greet me whatsoever. Kim kept that place up and was always eager to assist us with anything. She was gold level. I felt like I just left a Holiday Inn. Honestly, I think I wish I had. I would have been less disappointed.

Before arriving on Saturday, I called on a Friday to ask whether they could accommodate my daughter's gluten allergy. I was told a food and beverage manager would call me back shortly. No one ever did. I had to call again the next day and specifically ask to stay on the line until I got an answer. They ultimately confirmed they could accommodate her, but that should not have required chasing people down. We booked afternoon tea and that experience was also underwhelming. They didn't even have either of the teas my daughters and I originally wanted and we had to settle for a third choice. The food was okay, but absolutely not worth the price. There were more sweet options than savory, and oddly enough none of the desserts even included chocolate -- just very sugary cakes and tarts. The mini sandwich bites seemed like they had been sitting out for a while. It felt overpriced and far from memorable. The check-in experience was where things really started going downhill. I understand check-in is officially at 4:00 PM, but after finishing tea around 2:00 PM we asked if the room happened to be available. I explained that I had a spa appointment at 4:00 PM and wanted time to change and enjoy the amenities beforehand. We checked again at 2:45 and were told the room still wasn't ready, then finally got a call at 3:30 -- just 30 minutes before check-in -- saying it was available. Then we got upstairs and our luggage wasn't there. I called the front desk and no one answered. I called again and finally got someone. I asked them to expedite the bags because I was now rushing to make my spa appointment. I waited another 15 minutes and ultimately had to go to the spa without changing and completely missed out on enjoying the amenities beforehand. By the time my appointment was over, we had dinner reservations. So if you're planning a spa day, I would strongly recommend NOT booking it the same day as check-in because they clearly cannot handle the logistics. Unfortunately, the problems kept adding up: * Gluten awareness at the gelato stand was non existent. The lady started guessing which flavors were gluten free so I said "are you familiar with what gluten is?" and she gave a very incompetent "yeahhhhh??" so we stayed away * Pool service was disappointing; nobody was around to take orders and we had to go find the bar ourselves. * Housekeeping did not proactively service our room and had to be called. * The chips that we ordered at the pool were stale. * When we ordered room service my child waited 15 minutes for a spoon for cereal and had basically finished eating by the time it finally arrived. None of these things individually would ruin a stay, but together they paint a bigger picture: poor service, lack of attention to detail, and a complete miss on the elevated experience you expect when paying Ritz-Carlton prices. This property simply does not live up to the Ritz name.

Mint House is located inside the Santander building so the lobby is kept clean & the staff are there 24/7, very secure. The one inconvenience would be the many elevators to get to our room. Our room may have been located above the restaurant so we could hear the noise at times. I also didn't get a confirmation email with the check in instructions so I had to call to receive it. Tip: No room service is provided or was provided during our stay so may want to keep that in mind or ask customer service on that. Customer Service: The staff are all friendly and helpful with answering questions prior to/after booking the reservation. The customer service staff via phone aren't always aligned to the location you are staying at so there are times where they need to check with someone else before providing a response; however, they got back to me pretty quickly. Location: The Mint House is located in downtown Dallas so most places are walkable on a nice day. Mint House is initally hard to spot if you are driving by though. Parking: $30/day. The parking lot is secure and connected to the building for easy & convenient access. I'd recommend to just pay for parking in the lot if you are staying here as it's more safe & convenient. Pros: -Nice, clean & modern place to stay -washer and dryer -full size fridge -stove -plates, bowls, utensils -dishwasher -nice gym -walkable location to places & restaurants -easy check in and check out -access to restaurants in the building Cons: -We had to take 3 elevators to get to our room from the parking garage (and vice versa). If going to our room from the lobby, we had to take 2 elevators. -no cribs/playpen provided -no bathtub (only shower avail) -no swimming pool -no ideal loading zone -keyfob provided only works for your apartment door & gym access (not the elevators -the building only has a ramp on one entrance so it isn't as stroller/wheelchair etc friendly to get in if you are walking in on the side without the ramp. -no secure lock box -not dog friendly -unlike hotels, there's no washrooms in the lounge areas or lobby to use I'd come back and stay here again. :)

We arrived before check in and we were able to get our room which is always a fantastic sign . The room was extremely spacious . The bed was so comfortable I could of spent my whole trip there if I could . The bathroom was modern with the LED light mirror. The only issue I had was that I wish the room had a microwave . There was only one small microwave located in a room that also had a printer and computer in it. The grounds and the property was beautiful and well kept . Plenty of space and seating all throughout the lobby and outside they had a lovely fire place that once you sit close enough to it , keeps you so warm . The front desk staff and the Starbucks staff were very friendly and accommodating . I would absolutely stay at the Westin Southlake again when I visit Dallas . Until next time

Each time was a nasty experience. It's been a long time since I been in a hotel that felt clean enough to actually touch things or walk on the floor. And that restaurant on site is on point. It's a legit four star quality restaurant right downstairs. They wrong for that book of Mormon sitting next to the Bible in the drawer. That book is an abomination! Has nothing to do with Christianity at all. But other than that I enjoyed my stay.
