This was my first time staying at the hotel but it won't be my last. Overall impression was that the rooms and common spaces were not as updated as I was expecting but the service was above and beyond. We checked into our king room upon arrival and found it to be super spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was large with a giant tub and separate shower and I really loved the diptique shower amenities. When we arrived home from dinner that night there was a glasses wipe on the bedside table next to my glasses and tsa approved plastic bags in the bathroom next to our toiletries. The hotel bar was dark and moody with a fireplace. Had great vibes even on a Monday Night. The gym had a wide array of cardio and strength machines along with a full run of weights and plenty of space for multiple guests to be working out at the same time. Breakfast in the morning was great. I loved the granola parfait and my girlfriend said that the avocado toast was top notch. We planned our one-year anniversary for weeks. Reservations made in advance, outfits picked out. We arrived exactly on time. The host was nowhere to be found. We stood there while waiters walked by, giving us the side-eye of "not my problem." After 20 minutes of waiting someone acknowledged our existence and led us past the main dining room... straight to the hallway. Our table were a sad little two-top shoved against the wall, directly under the fire alarm. No waiter appeared to explain the menu. Then we see another couple stroll in. Dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie. No reservation drama for them. They got walked straight to the main fancy dining hall, the one with actual lighting, with no emergency exits and tables not on the verge of building code violations. Underdressed couple got the prime treatment; while we got the fire-alarm penalty box. Long story short this was the last straw. We left. No food, no bill, just disappointment and a desire to never trust that place again. Worst "celebration" ever. If you're looking for a spot that values hoodies over gowns and hallway seating over basic hospitality, this is your dream restaurant. 1 star only because zero isn't an option. But our table had a vase of very dead roses and I had to ask for them to be removed. The service was ok but the food was so bad. The scones were hard as rocks and small. We spent a wonderful weekend getaway at Rosewood. We stayed in the Grand Deluxe King suite for 2 nights. The experience was truly on of luxury, comfort, and relaxation! I'm very picky about hotels because most never uphold a level of cleanliness that can satisfy my OCD/germaphobic standards, but Rosewood exceeded all of my expectations! From the time we pulled into valet, we were greeted warmly and treated so kindly. This was true for the check in staff and housekeeping as well. Our rooms were cleaned every day and we also had turn down service each night. Room service was available and we did try it out one night. The food quality was surprisingly good! But I should have expected that at such a decadently ran hotel. The room itself was very well decorated and spacious. As soon as I walked in all of my past fears, bad experiences, and worries faded away. I knew I had finally found the quality I had been looking for in a hotel room. For the first 3 nights of our Dallas trip, we stayed at the lovely Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Check in was a breeze. We stayed in room 604, and it was a clean and quiet room. The bathroom had a rainshower, which is awesome for super-tall people, but took a while to get hot water. The bed was super comfortable. Always a huge fan of Rosewood Hotels, this property didn't disappoint. Customer service is always top notch. The concierge team, Mary and Evan, were outstanding during our entire stay. They were beyond helpful, and full of knowledge of everything you want to do in the area. EVERYONE was extremely friendly!!! The only drawback is that this property doesn't have a gift shop, spa, or jacuzzi. They offer massage services, but didn't have any time to get one. The pool was nicely sized for doing a few laps, but it lacked a jacuzzi. The well-manicured grounds were beautifully well kept. The property was spotless. The Mansion Bar is the place to be if you want a cocktail and relax. It's definitely a man cave. The gym was spacious and clean, well stocked with bottled water and towels. Been a hot minute since I've done a review but I had to get back on Yelp to write one for Rosewood Mansion. We stayed here for three nights while visiting Dallas and I can't emphasize enough the first class service that we received. From valet to front desk to housekeeping and to all staff on-site, we were very impressed. Service and hospitality industries have seen an unfortunate hit since 2020 Covid so it's such a breath of fresh air to be at an establishment that through the difficulties, still maintain such a high level of friendliness, professionalism and willingness to serve guests. And don't even get me started on the beautiful rooms and facilities... We stayed in their Penthouse suite and the attention to details with a welcoming fresh flower arrangement and the massive outdoor balcony/deck with view of the entire city were absolutely breathtaking. The Mansion is in a nice area of Dallas and in fact we lived next door in the Mansion residences until we moved 5 years ago. The rooms have been redone and quite nice. The employees are very good and some have been there for years. The bar was too crowded and not enough bartenders when we were there. The restaurant when we lived next door was famous for Southwestern cuisine such as quail and biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Not any more. You could get the same menu at Holiday Inn and it was a real disappointment. read more

The Rosewood Mansion is a total gem in an absolutely beautiful location in Dallas, located on a quiet street that's a 5-10 minute Lyft ride from all of the great Dallas attractions, restaurants, and bars. From the second I pulled up to the Mansion, I was greeted with such incredible hospitality, from the valet to the front desk attendants and concierge. I had to wait a few minutes for my room to be inspected before I could check in, and was then brought there by the porter, who was also lovely and so helpful in getting me situated with my bags. The service from the staff during the entirety of my stay was unparalleled - everyone was friendly, professional, and went out of their way to ensure that your stay was going well. I stayed in a Deluxe Patio Room, which - as you'd expect from the title of the room - included the cutest little patio area with comfortable outdoor chairs and a table that was completely fenced in. The room itself was beautiful and spacious, and I loved the separate vanity area that was well lit and the perfect spot for getting it together with my makeup. As I was settling into my room, I was interrupted from unpacking by a knock at the door, where one of the Rosewood staff members came to welcome me with a pitcher of iced tea and banana bread to welcome me to the hotel. It was little touches and courtesies like this that took the experience to a whole new level (and the banana bread and iced tea were delicious - and the perfect "surprise and delight" element to enjoy outside at the patio). The Rosewood is a beautiful property - the decor is absolutely stunning without being over the top, and my only issue is that I didn't have more time to explore the property more or take advantage of the pool. Also worth noting as just a mention to the amazing staff - I ordered a Lyft to the airport for my departure and waited outside with the valet team. My Lyft driver drove too far down the block, so one of the valets ran down the driveway and to the street to direct my driver where to come to pick me up. It was so unexpected, and so above and beyond, that it's still had a positive impact on me to this day (I wish I had gotten his name, because really, who runs after a car to help out a departing guest? The Rosewood staff, that's who). This will absolutely be my go-to for future trips to Dallas. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff, the beautiful architecture of the building, the beauty of the interior design throughout the entire hotel, and the overall experience of staying at the Rosewood Mansion. read more

For the price of this hotel I would definitely not recommend it. First, the grounds are very small and there's nothing to do at the hotel other than swim. The pool is nice but nothing fancy. The service at the pool was good. We had two kids with us (ages 6 and 10) and they were playing like typical kids do in a pool but not running or being loud as had read the pool rules and made sure the kids followed those rules. A man in a suit whom I presumed was a manager kept walking by us and glaring. After his third pass I said "I'm watching them and they're following the rules" and he said "We take that very seriously so please control them." He was rude and made it pretty clear that although their website says it welcomes kids this hotel definitely does NOT. There were no kid-focused activities like the hotel website said they did. The room service food was very good and the service was quick. The food at the wedding we were there to attend was good. But the hotel charged for everything -- a toothbrush, ibuprofen, etc. For $600/night they could give a customer a darn toothbrush! The air conditioner was either not working or it only runs when someone is actually in the room (we never did figure it out) so at night it was really hot. It was 100 degrees in Dallas and we couldn't get the A/C lower than 74 degrees. It was miserable! My bottom line: definitely not for kids, way overpriced for what you get, service was spotty depending on what part of the hotel you're in. read more

Super luxurious, well maintained, beautiful location. So many places within walking distance. The bed was gloriously comfy, blackout curtains made it possible to sleep late. I grew up in the greater Dallas area and had to have my wedding here after touring some of the also amazing wedding venues in Dallas. The Mansion's available ceremony spaces were beautiful and the wedding coordinator was so warm and so genuine about loving weddings that we had to have our big day here. I'm quite sure that at some point in time the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek was a thriving fine establishment, but my current visit left me quite underwhelmed. Fortunately/Unfortunately the Dallas restaurant market has been booming, bringing fresh talent and raising the culinary bar. A restaurant, such as the Mansion, that may have cruised on by during less competitive times, will quickly realize it cannot compete unless it begins to revamp. First, call me a non-Texas native, but the old school elegance is not up my alley. The restaurant decor is quite outdated, frankly reminding me of a scene out of last season's American Horror Story, quite historic Southern charm. Second, for a upscale establishment, especially one located inside of a hotel, i expected superb service. Our night started off acceptable, but the time in between our teaser and our entree was almost an hour. And again, once our course was completed, it took another 30 minutes before someone came by to clear our plates and to present us with a dessert menu. Clearly, unacceptable service for a restaurant attempting to achieve credence. Lastly and always the most important when dining -- the food. We ordered the mussel risotto and the foie gras for our teasers and the prime rib, and the because they were out of the black bass, the snapper for our entrees. Despite all of the beautiful plating, the choice of ingredients was terrible. There was no coherence to the flavors presented, as if the chef opened a leftover fridge and threw something random together. The worst yet, the red snapper was extremely fishy. Absolutely terrible. For how much the restaurant was charging, it was the last place I was expecting to have such stanky fish, someone please, at least take that off the menu, it was a total embarrassment. Overall, definitely not an impressive experience. Hopefully they decide to revamp (as the French Room, who had much better food is trying to do) or the cutthroat market will bring this place crashing down --- there are many better options these days to take your dining dollars. read more

It wasn't busy in the afternoon, just few table of guest. I had a tea and chicken club sandwiches. ***The menu at Rosewood Mansion looked impressive and the staff is great, but the fine dining at this luxurious establishment is a significant notch below the country's great fine dining restaurants*** Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is Dallas' signature fine dining restaurant. While SF, Chicago and NY are the U.S. cities most known for fine dining, I have had impressive fine dining experiences in other cities like Etoile (Madison, WI), Frasca (Boulder, CO), Canlis (Seattle), and Orchids at Palm Court (Cincinnati). I thus had fairly high expectations for Rosewood Mansion and I liked the setup of the menu. They had an a la carte menu; they also had 4 tasting menus divided by category--a seafood-based menu, a meat-based menu, a gourmand-based menu, and a white truffle menu. I wanted a greater variety of proteins so I opted for the white truffle menu though the gourmand menu also sounded very good. The dinner started with a selection of complimentary bites. There were root vegetable chips with a creme fraiche dip. There was also a curried carrot soup with crunchy pepitas. Both were a good start to the meal. My first course was the duck galantine, which was a duck terrine / sausage-like patty. The duck was fine and nicely seasoned. Garnishes included hazelnuts, a good aged balsamic, frisee, and a serving of white truffle. The white truffle was not as pungent as other white truffle I have had. This was the case with all of the white truffle courses I had here; the portion of white truffle was small too. Up next was gnocchi with a leek fondue, shaved parmesan, and (of course) white truffle. The gnocchi themselves were very good--very soft and not doughy (they used a very minimal amount of flour). The fondue was creamy and the shaved parmesan provided a needed salty note to a somewhat bland dish. Unfortunately, this course (like a few of the other hot courses) was not at the right temperature (it was lukewarm). Next was scallops with bok choy, black trumpets, quince, and white truffle. The scallops were moist but not exceptionally soft like great, fresh and nicely prepared scallops. The scallops also lacked a nice sear. I really liked the black trumpets, but the quince did not fit with this course (though I typically welcome quince since this rare fruit is only around for a certain months of the year). The main course was pheasant served with a side of brussels sprouts, tubers and very nicely charred carrots. There was also a sauce of foie gras (it was disappointing to find out that the foie gras was a sauce and not a seared portion alongside the pheasant). Pheasant breast meat is uniquely soft compared to other kinds of poultry and the kitchen achieved that softness here; unfortunately, the meat was a little dry and the sauce was not hot enough. I did not like the dessert. It was a caramel bread pudding topped with chocolate ice cream and poached pear. There was also a serving of white truffle though I did not think it fit. The flavor combination here was odd and off putting; I also did not like the sogginess of the bread pudding. The interior of the dining room is kind of a traditionally elegant room though there is an indoor-outdoor area that seems much more contemporary and attractive. Prices are high, but prices (given the ingredients used) did not seem too bad when you compare it to other fine dining restaurants across the country. Service was exceptional as the staff really go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience possible. I was disappointed with Rosewood Mansion. The food was not served at the right temperature and it was dated. Maybe it was just a bad time to visit Rosewood Mansion (the Fall season and then on Sunday when the restaurant is pretty dead). Still, I would need to see a lot more good news/awards/reviews for this restaurant to come back and I would recommend others to seek out other Dallas' upscale casual restaurants instead. My company has our Christmas party here and I had the opportunity to stay the night. Check in was a breeze, I couldn't figure out the door key though, guess I wasn't used to a physical key and turn in the door knob? Idk. Dinner was ok, we had a private room and the appetizers were great, my wine glass was always full. However, my coworker and I were the last to be served and they forgot our plates so everyone else waited until we were served and during that time, their food got cold. Not a good situation. Once we were all served, the food was delicious but it wasn't the best meal I've ever had (someone else mentioned Canlis in Seattle and I totally agree, that's my fav!) After dinner, we tried to head downstairs to hang out in the bar but it was super crowded. My bf witnessed a 3 way kiss among some intoxicated women, haha, classy! But definitely inappropriate for an after party among coworkers, we got out of there FAST. As for the room, it was nice. A little outdated, the drain didn't drain correctly and left me standing in the shower/tub with a giant soapy puddle. The granite sink was cracked & chipped in some areas. We slept soundly and I like that they provided robes & slippers. We grabbed a cup of complementary coffee on the way out but they had run out of all types of milk, I get that they have better things to do than checking on milk levels but it feels like the attention to detail is what they're missing. My biggest peeve is that they assumed I'm a man... I would expect a hotel like this would take the 3 extra seconds to google the name Mariko and come to the conclusion that Mariko is a Japanese FEMALE name. That said, my last name is completely different, ethnically, but I'm sure they also had both names together for check in. I hate when people change my name to fit their stereotype and that's what it felt like when I saw the "Welcome, Mr. B" note in my room. The restaurant at Rosewood Mansion is exceptional! I think it is in its own league compared to the rest of the city, despite the fact that Dallas has a strong emphasis on fine dining in general. Executive Chef Bruno Davaillon has perfected his process of choosing exquisite ingredients, pairing and preparing them, and presenting them in a gorgeous way. "Haute Cuisine Texas Style" Several of the other reviewers have extensively compared the restaurant at Rosewood Mansion to other award-winning fine dining restaurants in their reviews, so I will eschew that, but I do want to point out that Rosewood Mansion might differ a little from those restaurants just because it is locally inspired. Its menu was inspired by local producers. The menu has been adapted to regional flavors and the restaurant touts its unique signature style as "haute cuisine Texas style." This does not mean that the food is stereotypically Texan; just that there is an influence that subtly sets it apart from acclaimed fine dining in other cities. Ambiance The Mansion is one of the most beautiful buildings in Dallas, which is saying a lot, given the opulence in Westlake and Preston Hollow. The main dining room is classic, charming, with honey-colored walls and honey-colored lighting. There is also a beautiful lantern-lit terrace with fireside lounge settings and gorgeous oak trees. Service It is really what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. The waiters and waitresses have found the elusive, perfect balance between too much and too little attention, and it is obvious that they take pride in the restaurant and believe in the goodness of the food. They are fun to talk to, gracious, and very, very good at reflecting the needs of the diners. Menu We had the ten-course tasting-menu dinner here, which was an adventure into the depth of the menu--especially since we had no choice of what to get. We started with the creamy potato and leek soup, which came with crumbled applewood smoked bacon. It was delicious. I am usually a little adverse to putting bacon in food because it seems sort of like cheating; it is such a popular and overwhelming flavor. The next course was the pepper-crusted ahi carpaccio with sweet soy and frisee salad. It was amazing! Dallas appears to have a thing for ahi tuna (it is everywhere) but Rosewood Mansion did it really, really well. I would recommend this appetizer above all the other ones. The third course is hard to explain, partially because I admit I don't remember what it was called. I do know that it involved a thick earthenware bowl, poached eggs, mushrooms, and a lot of herbs. It was like a little woodland-inspired hotpot. If you ever read the Redwall series as a child (books about fighting mice and rats), you will understand what I mean when I say that this dish could have come from a Redwall book. Our fourth course featured sweetbreads with baby carrots, ramp, and cumin. I would recommend this to anyone who likes sweetbreads. I know that the restaurant has formerly received some negative feedback regarding its sweetbreads (i.e., by the Dallas News Magazine, which criticized its crispy texture) but I think this was a good dish. Our fifth course was duck a l'orange, parsnips, rainbow chard, and citrus puree. Amazing flavors, and the duck came out really well. Our sixth course was rabbit with fennel, tomato, and green olives. I usually have to do mental gymnastics in order to eat rabbit because I have had pet rabbits that I have loved ("doublethink" as George Owell would put it), but this dish was so good that I was effortlessly distracted from the cuteness of what I was consuming. Now, writing this review, I am starting to feel really guilty again. Our seventh course was lobster tail with poached rhubarb. This was probably the best entree and also an amazing example of Chef Davaillon's creativity and craft. Very, very much recommended. Our eighth course was some sort of fancy risotto. I remember that it was good, but not much else because at this point, I had begun to enter into the advanced stages of an epic food coma. The ninth course was filet mignon in cabernet jus. It was really good. Texas has good steak and the good restaurants prepare them very well. Rosewood Mansion is no exception. The tenth and final course was dessert. We had sablee cookie, lemon cream, fresh strawberry, and lemon basil sorbet in a cake-like configuration. No one could finish their desserts. Our dinner was an adventure that involved excitement, guilt, intrigue, the woodlands, admiration, and inordinate over-eating. That being said, the restaurant is fabulous. The Mansion on Turtle Creek is definitely very swanky, and more of a special occasion or business dinner type restaurant versus a casual dinner. My coworker and I decided to come for dinner based on all the positive reviews. We made reservations for a party of 2 at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night, which wasn't necessary since it was pretty quiet at that time. There were a few groups that came in, but they were sat in different parts of the restaurant, which was nice since it kept our area quiet. They were sprinkled with a little chili or chipotle power, which gave it a mild heat. We were glad we didn't order dessert since we were extremely stuffed after all the bread we ate and our full entrees. The quality of food is definitely there, and the presentation of all the dishes was beautiful. Service was also impeccable, and our server was super attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. However, I thought the food was a bit overpriced, especially the entrees, since they were our least favorite part of the meal. Dined here the second time this past weekend for restaurant week. Atmosphere 5/5: c'mon it's the mansion! I appreciate the tables being a bit more spaced out than many other restaurants i've been to. Food 4/5: overall was delicious, not a wow factor but I was definitely satisfied with every plate that was brought out, except my fish was a bit bland but that's forgiven when the dessert was brought upon. Service 5/5: Very nice staff, always checking up, offering bread or refills, recommendations were great, most importantly they were fast! I hate waiting around for the next course wondering if they had forgotten or something. Overall I had a lovely date night with the boyfriend, the friendliness of the staff really makes it a special memory, from the hosts, waiters, to valet guys, thank you guys, appreciate all the genuine smiles! Great place to stay. I was out in Dallas for a work trip and we all stayed at this hotel. I have stayed a several different hotels in Dallas and I must say I think this is the best one in the city. Located in Turtle Creek area so a very nice area. There is an old time charm to the building and it is not your typical hotel. Very boutique and upscale feel when you walk in. All of the staff and customer service was a A++. The doors are opened for you and everyone is very accommodating. I checked in and they actually give keys out, which I thought was a nice touch. They are electronic keys so they have a modern function. When I went into my room, it was larger than I was expecting, the room was just turned down and I had a piece of cake and a hand written note waiting for me. Overall the room was clean and everything was very well done. There were two things that stood out in this room, the bed and the shower. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in, in a hotel. Very comfortable and I slept like a baby, which I typically don't in a hotel room. The shower had fantastic pressure and I looked forward to it once I realized how good it was. I also had room service in the morning. It was a good breakfast and very tasty. Sometimes room service is hit or miss and the room service here was not over the top fantastic, but was pretty good overall. This place is special. I went for brunch on 12/14/08 and was impressed. It was a prix fixe menu for less than $50. The mimosas were good. If the weather's nice, it's wonderful to sit outside on the patio. Service was almost too attentive, until the end; they disappeared and just left us alone on the patio for a half hour, which was fine with us! There are outdoor fire places on the patio - I'd have loved to nestle onto a nearby sofa near the fire. We peeked into the bar area; it was all dark woods and amber lights. I hear there's a good jazz band that plays there. I highly approve. read more
