We recently had an awesome stay at this Residence Inn on Jekyll Island. My check-in was smooth and Ari was excellent with a warm welcome and the room assignment. The room was clean and well-equipped. The only challenge was opening the room door as well as properly securing it. Robert in the engineering department showed us the trick in operating our entry and exit and we were able to get this resolved. The guest common areas were clean, especially the pool area with a good stocking of pool towels. The check-in/registration area as well as the lobby area, the Shore restaurant, the marketplace, and the Starbucks area were all kept in clean and stage-ready condition. Parking was not a problem and was more than adequate. The location of this Residence Inn is absolutely awesome as it is Just a quick 30 second walk to one of the most amazing beaches on the Atlantic seaboard. The breakfast, that is for Residence Inn guests only, is at the end of the Residence Inn main hallway (to the R of the Lobby) in the breakfast buffet area. Plan on attending at the beginning of the breakfast service hours as it does tend to get quite active. Also, don't forget your room key as well as your wristband as these are required to access the breakfast room. Complimentary transportation is provided by the Residence Inn/Courtyard Van or by the six pack golf cart. Both are operated by really friendly associates and are offered 'on demand' through the front desk or a quick call back if you're returning from your destination. The normal routes of this complimentary service is to the Jekyll Island historic area or the Jekyll Island shopping plaza. Be sure to take care of the drivers on each trip and the recommended gratuity is $2.50 to $5 dollars per person. We utilized the service for transportation to the Jekyll Island historic area, which, in this area I recommend you should start at the Mosaic Museum. At the Mosaic, you can get the Landmark trolley that takes you on a guided tour through the entire historic area exploring one of the cottages in depth. Peter was absolutely awesome, friendly, and informative when taking us to the Mosaic museum from the RI. Overall, a great stay and we definitely plan to be back in the future. A++ read more

This place has been brilliant. Other than the place having entirely too many parking lot spaces reserved for electric cars, the place is perfect. The continental breakfast is the best I've ever seen (scrambled eggs, grits for us coastal dwellers, hash browns for everyone else, sausage, cereal for the kids, oatmeal for anyone who wants a warm belly, waffle makers, bagels and English muffins, fresh fruit, coffee, hot water for tea, juice, & refrigerated milk). If the free breakfast doesn't suit you, there is also a Starbucks kiosk in the lobby for anyone who must get their fix. The grounds are well maintained, the rooms are spotless, the lobby feels welcoming. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful (we kept hearing a beeping in our room and the night audit person was upstairs helping us look for in within a handful of minutes... our room had a dishwasher which was closed but had a function that needed to be canceled (I didn't even realize our room came with a dishwasher, I suspect they don't all have those but NICE). There are also staff in the breakfast room who will pick up your dirty dishes when you are done eating. The property is on the beach. Currently, you cannot turn on patio lights cause the turtles are laying nests and bright lights may confuse them. read more

An extra star because staff was generally really nice, but man, it's a badly run hotel. At check in we found toe nails in the carpets, only two towels and a fly in the room. Oh and the safe wasn't working. We call down for a swatter, linens and another vacuuming and are assured it will be fixed. After a few hours I go to the front desk and the manager tells me that maintenance blew him off but they'll do it now. Guy shows up with a shop vac and does a mediocre job- but he's really nice. Another guy shows up to fix the safe and he's exactly the type I DON'T want knowing I have items in a safe... but that's life. Note to hotel staff, pull your pants up and don't sneer like I'm a blood on a crip block. At the bar the bartender gives a generous pour for my old fashioned, but serves it warm. I request ice and chill the drink for her. I think they charged $23 for it. She's very nice though. Dinner was too crowded, so we came back at 8 and the crowd had died down. We order kids pizzas, a salad and shrimp/grits. After an hour of being ignored by our waitress with empty glasses we flagged down F&B manager Kurt who made our food appear within a few minutes and was very conciliatory. He comped dinner fully, which was extremely nice. Oof, so many things wrong here. We'll go elsewhere next time. Edit: just got out of the shower and noticed several curly black hairs stuck to the wall at eye level. I don't know what the heck they're doing there but that's just gross and scary. -3 stars from my initial review. Run away screaming from this hotel. read more

Beautiful location, room was clean. Air conditioner didn't work, room was brutally hot. Staff said there was nothing they could do because of an energy policy. I will not return, as a platinum member, I will relook at Hilton properties. read more

Bait and switch. I reserved a room with a balcony, ocean view, and full kitchen with oven. The oven is clearly visible in the room photos. My room has an obstructed view (roof) and no oven. The oven is a problem because I have food allergies and am limited where I can eat. I packed a cooler of food, which I can't cook. I am now limited to frozen meals for the duration of my vacation because of false advertising. I was sold a crock! Then they had the nerve to tell me that I got the ADA room because the other rooms were taken and the ADA rooms don't have an oven. So apparently Marriott gives people who need an ADA room less than what others get. The whole situation makes me sick. I will NEVER stay here or at Marriott again because they bait and switch. Another family in the lobby was complaining that they booked an ocean view and didn't get it. Apparently I'm not the only one... I called Marriott, they were very nice but said there is nothing they can do to assist because there are no rooms with ovens available. There are food remnants and stains on my ceiling, food drippings on the cabinets, one pan is so burnt it can't be used, and my shower has crud on the tile. When you check in, they tell you that they are adding an additional $30 resort fee per day, but they give you $15 credit each day at the market. The room is spacious. The location of the property is on the beach. The pool looks lovely. There are other nice brands here that offer the same. I will not be back. read more

Stunning hotel with great views. The waitresses at the Shore restaurant were fantastic. The male bartender not so much. Most of the desk staff were polite. I love Jekyll Island but it is now overrun with unruly kids with parents who don't care what they're doing. Whoever designed this hotel wasn't thinking. They put a children's play area right by the restaurant's outdoor bar and seating area. While eating we had to keep dodging footballs. It wasn't a pleasurable experience. While we were aware of the destination fee that hotels charge we were not made aware of the extra $5 motel/hotel fee. I was not made aware of that and frankly I'm upset about it. I don't mind paying what I agreed to pay but it makes me mad when businesses throw extra fees in without notification. It's sneaky. These places openly price gouge enough, they don't need to sneak extra charges in. The pool was not heated in mid-October. Not sure if it is during the winter season. It was absolutely freezing (ocean water was more tolerable) so if you're looking for that l'd suggest another hotel. Frankly, for the price difference l'd stay at the Days Inn. 1/2 the price and honestly more enjoyable. The TV situation was terrible. I need down time and to fall asleep with the TV on. The operation of the TV was difficult (the remote was a bear to work) and there were very few good channels. The TV also wasn't facing the bed. Another poor design choice Our room didn't have a screen on the balcony. That was probably the biggest disappointment. I paid for that room category because I wanted to be able to listen to the ocean and sleep with the door open. We were unable to do that and I am extremely disappointed! If you don't like dogs I would suggest not staying at this hotel. They were everywhere. I do love animals, their humans not so much. Every morning the breakfast bar had a handful of dogs in it. While some were well behaved, some were not. Dogs do not belong in the breakfast area (unless a service animal). True service animals know how to behave. Most people's pets do not. Sadly, most people don't care how their animals (or kids) behave as long as it doesn't inconvenience them. This hotel has taken "animal friendly" too far. There needs to be some restrictions. And possibly some penalties if people don't pick up after their dogs. We saw many piles of dog poop. People are disgusting. If you decide to stay here and use your kitchen I would suggest washing the dishes before using them. The dishes in the cabinets still had debris on them. The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it. We brought our own Keurig but I don't think I'd use their coffee machine since you really can't clean those and people are nasty. If you're physically challenged I would suggest a room near the elevator. There is only 1 elevator (another poor design) and if you have a beachfront/oceanfront room you will have a long walk to your room (ice machine/laundry room too) from the elevator. It can be a bit of a maze when you're tired and had a bit too much to drink from the hotel bar, lol. They did provide some good hygiene products but they are multiple use. Again, I don't trust what people do so I don't like using things that other people have touched. I think they should go back to the individual bottles of shampoo/conditioner. Take away-if you have pets or kids this hotel is amazing. If you want peaceful and don't like animals I would highly recommend that you DON'T stay here. I've stayed many times at the Days Inn and my stay was far more enjoyable for 1/2 the price. I'm extremely disappointed in our stay and do not plan to be back. Jekyll used to be my absolute favorite place in the world. Not any more. Everything has gone down the drain and for the money you pay to come here it's no longer worth it. Plan to post a thorough review on TikTok with our experience. Edit: There is a flashing smoke detector near the bed-next to impossible to fall asleep since it's so bright (poor design choice). While I loved the big shower it only had 1/2 a door. Not terrible when you're showering alone but when there's 2 of you in there it gets very cold (yet another terrible design flaw). We don't like housekeeping to come into our room (again, can't trust anyone). But I asked an attendant for some things when she was working in a neighboring room and although she said she would bring the items, she never came. When I made the reservation they asked if we were coming for any special occasion. I stated that we were coming for our honeymoon. Honestly, I was hoping they would do something special. After all, why ask if they're not going to acknowledge it in some way? Nothing was done. read more

The bad:Our room need repair badly, there was a circular patch that was falling off the wall which was right next to the electrical box which my child was very interested in, the kitchen did not come with a broom/dustpan which was needed for cleaning, rug was coming apart from the wall in several places in the bedroom, toilet paper was HORRIBLE so be sure to bring your own also paper towels the same, and the trash can in the kitchen is tiny which is bad considering they only clean every other day and that tiny 6/8 gallon gets filled up quick when you cook! Also they had issues with the terminal so took them 20 minutes to get checked in. Internet did have a few issues connecting the 2nd day we were there but was fine after that.housekeeping only leaves 2 towels so be prepared to ask for a 3rd, and check your ice bucket as ours was cracked, we learned when he tried to get ice and it leaked all over the counter The Good: the room came with pots/pans, silverware, plates, cups, and cooking utensils. The outside of the property was very nice with cornhole, the pool, lots of sitting areas both inside and out. The boardwalk was nice walking to the ocean everyday with showers right at the pool. Full breakfast was definitely a perk of Residence in : bagels, oatmeal, waffles, eggs, bacon or sausage, fruit, milk and yogurt. Overall the outside property and staff made up for the room issues. However we won't be staying there again. read more

Subject: Disappointment with Facility and staff Location: Residence Inn Jekyll Island GA Date of Stay: November 2nd--3rd Room 411 Booked the room on points 3 days prior. We had our choice of the courtyard at 25,000 or the Residence Inn at 34,000. we booked The Residence Inn. Little did we know they are the same property. On the day of arrival we notice that the rate had been discounted to 30,000 we asked if they would honor that? They said they could not. We arrived at our room, which we were told was king and it was not. Room 411 has a full size bed, a queen at best. Upon entering the bathroom we noticed pubic hairs very clearly visible in the shower. We immediately called the front desk. They assured us housekeeping would be right up. We informed them we were going to head to the pool but feel free to enter the room. Upon arriving at the pool, we found pool towels reminiscent of my high school gym totally inadequate to cover half of a lounge chair. The lounge chairs were ripped and covered in mold, mildew and spider webs. Very disappointing. We returned 3 hours later and no one had been there, we called again, still no apology, but an assurance that housekeeping would be right up. 30 minutes elapsed and still no housekeeping. We called again finally 20 minutes later a man who looked more like a maintenance worker showed up with a rag ad spray bottle . At this point we had missed our dinner reservations and decided not to use the shower just order pizza in. The next morning, we went for the breakfast that is included in the rate. Again, it did not meet the quality we have grown to expect from a a Marriott property. There was only one clean fork available. No fruit, no yogurt, no bacon, etc. Just gray sausage & powdered eggs. We split an English muffin. Then when we went to clear our plates and the bus station was disgusting. Overflowing with plates and cutlery and food splattered all over the wall. We went back to the room to sit on the balcony and have coffee but it was covered in bird droppings. We had expressed our disappointment with the front desk the night before. Upon check out we asked for the front desk manager and the man stated that was he. He said he did not know why they did not move us when we found the pubic hair. He blamed the pool conditions on being on the coast. He blamed breakfast items and conditions on high occupancy. All in all, he took no accountability and made no apologies. He simply told us he discounted our room by 10,00 points. read more

We live on the island and lost power during the snowstorm so we packed up all our food and headed to the residence Inn. There was a staff shortage due to the hazardous roads, but everything was still wonderful. The general manager must've been in all parts of the hotel at the same time he cooked breakfast, he was in the restaurant. He was taking care of guest needs along with Sara and his capable staff.
