We booked our room on August 3 and asked for a ocean View room. We confirmed with the clerk that the room had a view and he said yes. When we checked in they were going to give us a room with a view of the parking lot. After a long conversation and showing us several rooms we did get a room overlooking the lighthouse. There are now ocean View rooms all you see are trees. Hotel was nice and clean no breakfast was offered except bananas and apples. Staff was nice except for 1 desk clerk. Was a very short walk to gift shops and ocean. No beach available!! Be sure to check your bill for extra charges we had several but they were removed. Over all a good visit. read more

Hotel renovations were stated to be complete by 5/31/2026. They were still in full renovation mode during our visit from 6/25/2026 - 6/292026. Very dusty, noisy, and unorganized. Pool needs both renovation and a good cleaning. Pool shower did not work and pool towels weren't always available. We requested service for our room on the 3rd day and no one ever came. Free coffee machine in lobby was out of cups on both 3rd and 4th day. Very disappointed. We won't be back. read more

BEWARE IF YOU THINK YOUR ROOM RESERVATION CONFIRMATION THROUGH THEIR OWN WEBSITE WILL BE IN THEIR SYSTEM WHEN YOU ARRIVE--TRUST ME, IT WON'T BE! I made reservations a month in advance through Ocean Inn & Suites' website (not a 3rd party) for our stay on 7/20/25-7/24/25. I had confirmation numbers and proof of rooms reserved (two 2-bedroom, 2-bath suites for 5 people). We essentially required four beds for our family trip. We all arrived after seven long hours of driving at 4:30pm only to find out that their "system" did not have our reservations. We were offered two standard King rooms (only 2 beds; we needed four). There was no empathy from front desk clerk and no apology other than continually repeating that "their system didn't have our rooms." We were left stranded with a tired 88- and 89-year-old and nowhere to go. NOTE: We were not assisted in finding another hotel. We were not offered a complimentary dinner or complimentary admission to an attraction. Nothing. Zero. We were not offered a thing for our major inconvenience. This was their mistake, not ours. The manager was not on duty and did not speak with us by phone. [By the way, when you read the bad reviews and there are a lot of them, they always have someone who writes a nice response but evidently takes no action. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite boasts of one bedroom with a King bed and one bedroom with two Queen beds; however, this is not the case. Both bedrooms have one King bed which could potentially create an issue if you were expecting 3 beds. Their response to someone else's review in May 2024 mentioning the incorrect description says they will take care of updating description on their website; however as of July 2025 (over a year later), the incorrect description has not been fixed!] We were hesitant about booking rooms at Ocean Inn & Suites after reading reviews about mold, mildew, smells, bugs, noise, dirty, pitiful breakfast, etc., etc. but against our better judgment, we went ahead with it because of location. Boy, did it come back to bite us on arrival day once we learned they gave our rooms to someone else. My credit card was charged for the rooms even though we never stayed there. The manager did assist me a couple days later in reversing the charges. She also told me that this same issue had happened to several others because of their reservation "system." Sounds like they need an overhaul of reservation system and fast! I'm taking the time to write this review to warn others--THE LOCATION IS NOT WORTH THE RISK!! **Now to the best part...luckily, we were able to secure four rooms at the last minute at THE INN BY SEA ISLAND. They were so welcoming and made us feel valued as guests. It's one of the nicest, cleanest hotels we've stayed in and the breakfast was top-notch. The room was clean, the air conditioning worked, the bed was comfortable and it was just a 5 minute walk to the beach and not much further to the pier. That being said, the hot water didn't exactly get all that 'hot' and the pool is like a small wading pond. The reason for knocking off 2 stars was that the TV and internet went out for almost 24-hours. Understandably not their fault; but with the prices that are being asked, I expect to have all services provided or offered compensation. read more

Let's start with the positives first. The location is great, within walking distance to a lot of great shops and restaurants. Plus the staff were friendly. Now the rest. The (first) room had black mold in the shower but when I was getting into bed, a big black bug ran out of the pillow. I told the front desk and they apologized and moved me to another room. The second room still had black mold (picture attached) and a smell of mildew but at least no bugs in the pillows and bed, and you can believe me that I checked. They also don't have individual sized products in the bathrooms but the larger containers that you have to press to get the shampoo out. I'm all about this option as it cuts down on waste but the shampoo pump in the second bathroom was broken. I thought it was also tacky that both of the rooms had an envelope to tip the maids, who apparently don't clean the bathroom. Their "free breakfast" is also a joke. Overall, I am disappointed with the rooms as well as the response from the hotel with finding bugs. They didn't offer any type of refund or upgrade me to a Suite. read more

A solid 3-Star Hotel. Good location. Some cons [see below] but nothing major enough to warrant changing rooms or leaving the hotel. Overall, it was fine for a short weekend trip but we probably would not stay here again. Pros: LOCATION- walkable to downtown, pier, & beach Very friendly staff Covered Parking Cons: Towels & Linens- this was the biggest issue for us. The towels- while clean- were WAY past needing to be replaced. Very tattered, worn thin, and rough. The same for the bed linens. The sheets were very thin, clearly worn down, and the bed only had one thin blanket on it. There was no real comforter of any kind. Definitely not the cozy welcoming bed you want to crawl into. I did also find a few stray hairs on the sheets, which grossed me out. The Bathroom- The bathroom was very dark, it had one tiny light and with the door shut, you could barely see to wash. The shower felt like it was pelting me with water- the pressure was very high with no way to adjust it. And then there was the weirdness with the toiletries. They have these strange dispensers that look like they are condiment dispensers from an old diner [see pics]. They are filled with moisturizer, shampoo, and body wash. I didn't use any of them because honestly, I don't want to use toiletries when I don't know what the brand is and what it has in it! I have sensitive skin, so I definitely wasn't putting unknown products on my body or in my hair. But either way, I found it strange and even though my husband used the shampoo, he thought it was odd too. Decor- nothing terrible, but a bit of a letdown. The room was huge (it was a suite), but packed with furniture, most of which was uncomfortable and we didn't use it anyway. And the overall gold and maroon decor felt very dated, dark, and a bit drab. It could definitely benefit from a fresh coat of light-colored paint and some nicer linens and curtains to liven up the room and make it feel more beachy. Breakfast- While they did offer coffee and tea, they do not have to-go cups with lids, only real coffee mugs. I mean, what if I want to grab a drink in the morning and walk down to the pier or beach? My husband and I stayed here last year. We loved everything but the continental breakfast (breakfast was lame) so we decided to give it another try. We love how close it is to everything! Well this time every thing went down hill. Starting with the checkin. The guy who checked us in was nice. But the process took too long! We were standing there waiting meanwhile my hands were full. And chasing a toddler around a lobby is no fun! The room was ok as far as cleanliness but the bathroom nope dirty! The was mold/mildew on the shower head, walls and soap dispenser. The Ocean Inn & Suites hotel is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay on a visit to St. Simons Island. I've been coming to SSI since I was a child and have stayed in just about every hotel on the island; but after seeing Ocean Inn & Suites on a few of my past visits I decided to give them a try the last time I visited the island. I am glad I made this decision and I'm looking forward to my next visit in April. The hotel is conveniently located in the Village area of St. Simons Island, making it a great place to stay; just park your car and walk everywhere including the lighthouse, the Village shops & restaurants, the beach, and old island neighborhoods. The hotel is beautifully designed with hardwood floors and balconies (stand up) in each room, but the bathroom has a funky black and white checkerboard design. Parking at the hotel is great; they offer covered parking under the hotel, lot parking behind the hotel, and there is ample street parking in front of the hotel; just be warned that the covered parking under the hotel is tight and that's why my SUV parks in the back lot or the street. If you like to ride bicycles like my wife and I you are more than welcome to bring your bikes; there is a bike rack right out front of the hotel for you to hitch them up. Need wifi for that annoying business that pops it's head up during a trip; not to worry, the hotel has you covered with free wifi. The staff at the hotel are great; they have always been friendly and attentive from taking our reservation on the phone, checking us in and out, to answer questions, to telling us about new places on the island. Ocean Inn & Suites does offer a complimentary continental breakfast of cereals, pastries, and coffee in the mornings which is great to be able to grab a quick bite and hit the island for some sightseeing and exploring. read more

One star is being generous. I am a healthcare provider on a covid team and was in search of much needed rest. I had concerns after reading the reviews here but I was reassured when I made the reservations and was told that we would receive "as much or as little" maid service as we felt comfortable. We gave Ocean Inn and Suites a try. What a mistake!! On our arrival our room temperature was 85 degrees. We were told to wait because they had just turned on the air conditioning 30 min prior to our arrival (odd in itself since it was 100 degrees outside). It remained 85. We called down again and were told to wait for maintenance. Maintenance came and told us to wait so he could replace a battery in the thermostat. The room remained 85. Bill at the desk told us to "wait" so he could work some things out and call us back. When he didn't call, we went to the lobby to find he had gone home for the day! We were told an A/C repairman would come and we "waited" some more. Eventually the A/C was repaired and we were told not to adjust it up or down during our stay..... AND a whole afternoon had been wasted! Next the soap dispenser fell off the wall and broke everywhere. The hotel does not use sample sizes or bar soaps so we were provided the "refill" bottles which were soap, shampoo and conditioner from your local DOLLAR TREE. Not what you expect from a "boutique hotel". Upon entering our bedroom, we found the light to be burned out and the only light was one dim one barely lit in the ceiling and a lamp in the corner. The safe was located in the bathroom floor and did not work until later repaired. We were able to look at a moldly tub drain stopper on the bathtub shelf each time we took a shower. On making the reservation, I requested five towels each day as we were paying for extra guests and I also requested linens for the fold-out sofa. On day one, we had two towels instead of five and no linens for the sofa. On the first morning, we requested full maid service and received it along with needed repairs. On the second and following mornings, we were told that they suddenly did not perform maid services due to covid (which was contrary to what we were told on the phone when making our reservation). Our new towels were left outside in the hall on the floor. The trash cans were still in the room overflowing with trash. The dirty towels were piled in the bathroom where we had left them. The floor was covered in sand. Upon requesting the floor at least be swept, we were handed a broom to do it ourselves (broom sharing also shares the covid virus...fyi). Ben, the assistant manager came to our room on day three and told us that he would be our "personal housekeeper and concierge" for the remainder of our stay. Needless to say we NEVER saw him again. Twice during our stay, we ran out of toilet paper and had to send a family member down to the lobby for emergency toilet paper! While sitting on the toilet one rainy day, I noticed my clothes getting wet from above where rain was dripping from the ceiling! When requesting pool towels (we were the only people in the pool) we were told that they had not done laundry and none were available. The bath towels were horribly rough and paper thin (does DOLLAR TREE make bath towels?). My son developed a rash from using them. Our bedsheets were yellowed so I only hope they were clean since they were not changed in five nights. The bed itself was average and not the quality of most hotels. Continental breakfast is not currently served. We had long since stopped reporting needed repairs to the desk as it was for null. A few side notes that we also never reported: sink did not drain, toilet handle broke, the refrigerator door shelves had been removed and could not hold drinks, the balcony door was broken and my husband had to pull with all his force to open it, the clock showed the wrong time for six days. This place claims to be a boutique hotel but it has a long way to go to actually become one. PLEASE DO NOT RUIN YOUR VACATION BY STAYING HERE. I have spoken to management several times in person and made attempts by phone to speak with them since our departure. We were advised at checkout to call back to have an adjustment made to our bill for our inconveniences (aka misery). Once my call was finally returned, I was told that the owner and manager feel that they did everything they could to fix the complaints as they arose (a/c, safe, light bulb and soap dispenser)...problems that should not exist in the first place. They were unwilling to listen to the additional concerns and hung the phone up on me. Before our departure, we were credited $84 of a $1711 bill. This is the worst hotel experience that I have ever had. It was a waste of time and money and a big disappointment to my entire family. Every staff member continually tried to explain everything away as covid related but dilapidated facilities, repeated lies and poor service have NOTHING to do with covid 19. read more

Top notch hotel! Got a great last-minute deal when our pre-booked hotel did not have our room available. Tom was super understanding, helpful, and accomodating, going well out of his way to make things work for us. The room was one of the nicest on the island for the price (marble tiled bathroom, beautiful room, balcony, spotless and frequent housekeeping), the view and breakfast are lovely, and the pool is very nice and well kept. Hotel is also only a 4 minute walk from downtown pier village and grey beach and has its own covered parking. Would highly reccomend to anyone! read more

Management needs to train/hire better housekeeping service. We really liked the room and were thinking on staying another night. First issue: no toilet paper in one of the restrooms but the brown toilet paper tube was still there. This made me wonder a bit of it had been cleaned but no big deal, just asked them to bring me some. We hung out and stayed up late talking in the living room till around 1 am- we're still in PST time. My son wanted to take a bath when he noticed sand and hairs (not ours) .. at this point we're only thinking on complaining in the morning. I lay on the bed and start getting itchy..thinking it's all in my head, I decide to take a shower. 2nd shower had not been cleaned either. By this time, he's out of the shower and he calls me to his room showing me the bed... Had hairs on the sheets- we were finally done with this place! Went to lobby complained to front desk. They were apologetic and really nice.. gave us another room.. well I think this room was more disgusting , one of the beds had hairs all over the sheets, 1 of the restrooms had pubes . We couldn't stay, it was 1:50 am and we headed back to Florida trying to find a place to crash.. read more

Ocean Inn and Suites is my go to place on St. Simons Island! Although it was not a pleasure trip, the entire staff made it truly special! Making our reservations with Abbey was seamless. She is so pleasant and professional. When we checked-in with Jenny, she made us feel welcome and at home away from home. Ms. Lily cleaned our room and it was immaculate. Since we had not been there in a couple years, Bob and Abrey gave us suggestions on the best places to eat. My Mom and I had a wonderful experience and it truly took the edge off of why we were there. Kudos to all who made our trip a great memory we will treasure! read more

I'm basing these five stars on the fact that I'm reviewing a three star hotel. It's definitely not a "5 Star Hotel" by definition, but hopefully you aren't expecting that upon landing on this particular spot. When initially booking the hotel, I looked at prices once and then went back to confirm the booking and they had risen in a short period of time. The increase stretched our trip budget, but my girlfriend called the desk at the hotel and whomever she spoke with was more than happy to honor the precious rate. Obviously, they didn't have to do so, and we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived at the hotel late, around 1:30 am, and were greeted by a very friendly desk clerk. Really helpful, really nice. Not sure I would be capable of that at almost two hours past midnight. The lobby isn't anything especially amazing, not sure it even really represents the rest of the hotel very well. They did offer a selection of sundries and had a library and card games that they loaned out. The rooms were great - spacious, comfortable, clean. Hardwood floors were a nice touch and I'm pretty sure all the rooms have a balcony. The bathrooms were pretty, marble and all that, but the water pressure totally sucked and there was a problem with the drain. It didn't bother either of us enough to complain about it. The HVAC unit was LOUD as hell, but again, that doesn't annoy me too much. My girlfriend went down to get coffee both mornings and reported back that the offered continental breakfast was pretty slim pickens. Cereal, limited fruit and pastries, and then ACTUAL packets of instant grits and oatmeal. Whatever. The coffee was good. All in all, we will definitely be back. The staff was incredible. So friendly and really ready to help. I've checked into Hilton's where the front staff wasn't even close to as welcoming as the ladies we dealt with here. Two blocks from the village, right next to Neptune Park. You would need to drive to get to a beach entrance that has more sand than boulders. Lovely staff, lovely rooms. Very cozy and warm. The staff is very friendly, and they offer a continental breakfast (which is pretty ordinary, but hey, breakfast is breakfast!). Moreover, the room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. We could walk to anything we wanted to see or do. My boyfriend was especially thrilled because the TVs are huge in the rooms and he could watch playoff football all Sunday. read more

If you like a quick breakfast, you will be happy with the stay. This hotel can be quite expensive unless you want to be close to the shops and main attractions on the island. On our way here from the west coast. By the time we landed in Atlanta my wife was very ill and running a high temperature. Too sick to travel on to St Simons I found a hotel and urgent care center. I called the Ocean Inn to advise that we couldn't make our reservation, and their response was simple. Too bad, we're charging you for one night just the same. I really loved this quaint hotel. There were some issues, as the previous guests have mentioned, but not a deal breaker for me. Such as the worn towels, the lack of light in the bathroom, the funky soap and shampoo dispensers --- I bring my own anyway. Some of the furniture was outdated, but adequate. My only real issue with the furniture was that there was no deep drawers for clothing. The only drawers were in the 3 nightstands (one shallow drawer in each nightstand). There were two shallow drawers in the TV stand. We had an issue with the pricing at check in. They were charging me more than the price quoted when I booked online. However, they had no problem with honoring the price on my confirmation.....I just don't think that should have happened in the first place. Don't they know what price the online booking gives? All that said, I really loved the uniqueness of the hotel and will definitely stay there again. It's not your "cookie cutter" chain hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and roomy. The beds were comfortable. We had plenty of towels. I enjoyed drinking my coffee on our balcony every morning. The covered parking was nice. The location is perfect. While the hotel is hard to beat for its location (you're only a block from the village, and a block from the lighthouse and water), it's decor and cleanliness were mediocre. The staff was kind and courteous throughout our stay, and the entire facility was peaceful and quiet. Also, don't expect any kind of refund if you accidentally book a night too many or need to switch dates, they're very inflexible when it comes to this. Overall, for the location, you'd be hard pressed to do better than this hotel, but at $232/night it was slightly overvalued. read more

Very disappointed in this place!! The guy that waited on us was very nice and said it was 99 a night when we asked him for a room with 3 beds. He said it was a double with a sofa that made into a bed. The room smelled like mold & mildew and gave our daughter a migraine. We'd traveled all day and was exhausted so didn't ask for a different room because figured all rooms smelled that way and we opened the door to let air in which helped some. We did let the lady at checkout know it smelled. The bathroom was nice though. Next day I noticed 132.68 taken out so I called to see why it was more then quoted and she said because we had 3 adults so it went up $14.00 Yes, we asked for 3 beds and said it was 3 adults!!!! She wanted to argue instead of making it right so BEWARE if you stay here of adding extra charges after your gone!! $14.00 may not seem like much but if they do it to everyone it is plus we was on a budget! I understand if it's extra for more, but don't tell me a price then secretly charge more!! I will be reporting to BBB as well. read more

We stayed here based on a friends recommendation due to the location is so good. And it is a great location...close to pier village. The room was spacious but that is when things go downhill. The first thing I was told upon arrival was "No." No smoking in the room, no smoking on the balcony, no smoking in the parking garage....No pets...No changes without a ridiculous fee..." The signage in this hotel was even "No!" By the pool the sign reads No swimming without guest taking a shower first....seriously? And the pool wasn't even clean to start with... I understand there needs to be rules but as a guest, I don't want to hear No...ever. And I certainly don't want to hear it first thing, So in response, NO I won't ever stay here again and neither will my friends. read more

Had a very nice stay here. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Very close to the Village and restaurants and beach areas.

Had a wonderful weekend stay at the Ocean Inn and Suites. The room was SPOTLESS clean and the staff could not have been nicer! This is a perfect location for walking to the Village, Pier and the Lighthouse. We didn't use our car the entire time we were there, which was wonderful for enjoying the weather. Before we even got there for our 30th anniversary, they called and upgraded us to a room with a king size bed and nice view. Rooms are updated and spacious. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and also very knowledgeable regarding tours, restaurants, etc. Covered parking was awesome and location perfect for walking to village. I am sure the rooms are fine. However, never got to see them since my reservation was "lost." We booked a room here for our wedding night, and they "lost" it. I found out that our room was given to someone staying four nights, rather than our one. The staff was rude to boot. You would think that the receptionist with tattoos on her face and the manager who barely spoke English would be more understanding. read more
