Rooms are outdated. Parking is always filled up. Terrible customer service. Front desk staff are always on their phones. Same slop being fed to us every morning. Floor is dirty and stays that way for hours, yuck. Key card barely works; takes a minute to let you in the room (very frustrating). No security cameras- if you have family, please stay away. It isn't safe at all. A break in happened during one of my stays also.

First time staying at a Residence Inn and I'm definitely a fan! There were 5 of us so we booked the 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suites and it was great - just the perfect size for all of us! The room also included a full kitchen and living room. Each room at their own private bathroom, TV and desk with chair. Our room overlooked the pool area so it was nice view. The bathrooms were a decent size, but could probably use an upgrade. Why are their no bathroom fans in most hotels now? Hotel was quiet at night which is always a plus especially because we stayed on a Saturday night. We came down for their complimentary breakfast on Sunday morning and it was pretty decent. They had a coffee bar with hot and iced coffee, cereal, bagels, oatmeal, eggs and even sausage breakfast sandwiches. It was enough to fill our bellies before hitting the road to head home. The only issue was we saw a couple of gnats - one in our room and one in the restaurant, but it wasn't the end of the world. Staff was very friendly at the restaurant as well as check-in. I would definitely stay here again!

Top Notch Hospitality but Sub-Par Facilities. Everyone was friendly and helpful, but the facility needed maintenance. Read my blog for details. https://travelwithlilley.com/the-americas-1/f/hotel-review-residence-inn-newark-silicon-valley

My husband and I stayed here because his sister is in the ICU at Kaiser Hospital and we wanted a place with a full kitchen and very comfortable. This hotel is hidden which we enjoyed because not a lot of traffic. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance and they serve breakfast every morning. The hotel front desk representative was very friendly and helpful ( I can't remember her name) but we liked her. It's a clean hotel and very quiet which we truly enjoyed. We had a one bedroom suite it comes with a kitchen, lived room , separate bedroom and bathroom. Very clean and the bed was super comfortable and we were able to get a good nights sleep. If you're ever in this area we highly recommended this hotel and we will definitely use it again if we return to this area.

After a very, very, very long day, I checked in tonight was greeted by Matt, a very pleasant young man. He was very friendly and kindly listened to me reminisce about an old bowling alley and roller skating rink that I frequented as a child where this hotel now stands. You see, I grew up literally 2 blocks away. Later and after unpacking, I realized that the port charging station did not work in the room. I went down to ask if they had spare units because I didn't want to have to move to a different room as that would require repacking and then unpacking again. To be honest, I could have gone to the gas station and bought one, after such a long day, I was short on energy and patience. Much to my surprise he offered me his personal socket so that I can charge my phone. He said he had plenty at home. He saw my dilemma and showed true kindness. What a kind gesture. If I asked 100 strangers to let me borrow something for a few days without anything in return I'd bet that less than 1% would help. People like Matt is why I stay loyal to Marriott hotels. Thank you so much for making this old lady feel like she's at home while she's many miles from home

    Cockroach in bathroom

Should be renamed to Cockroach Inn. This is a disgrace to Marriott brand and I will be reporting them to health department and corporate Marriott. BEWARE. Last time I ran across so many roaches was when I was in high school 30 years ago in my friend's parents apartment they was not used for a long time overseas. What the heck? Priceline rating is 8.4. I was fooled. Woke up 3 am to use rest room and ran into two small roaches on bathroom floor. I couldn't sleep after that. I did a check again after seeing reviews online on Yelp and saw the roach reviews. Then I found another two one on wall in bedroom and another medium size bigger on in desk. I could sleep and had to wale up at 7 am. But then ai crashed for few hours and woke at 7 to see 3 more one on bathroom sink and one two in bathroom. I called 3 am the front desk and they couldnt change the room and said will have manager call back but never did. I checkout early morning after deciding not to get another room and left especially that the front desk lady said there is not much they can do about the roaches (What!) because they have people staying at hotel for 3 years and they allow pets. Perhaps clean the damn rooms and get pest control.. Only hotel in my live this happened and I have been to cheaper hotels. What a joke! NIGHT FROM HELL.

Won't be returning to this hotel. As I walked into the kitchen and turned on the light 3 cockroaches ran up the wall.

No breakfast, even though their confirmation receipt says free breakfast for two. They basically said oh well! Then worst part within 5 hours of being there our new trucks had the window broken. Same thing they basically said oh well. No help from the hotel.

Soiled mattress in room 509. The front desk was really nice and they moved us to another room

Unfortunately, the condition of room 302 did not reflect the positive experiences I've had here in the past. One of the window shades was completely broken and sealed shut. So you have to do without the natural light. The bedside table next to the bed was damaged, I couldn't put my nighttime water next to my bed for fear of it falling off. And I was assigned an accessible bathroom (I never chose that option), that had a persistent leak, causing water to run throughout the night. I was tired and needed a place to shower and sleep for the night, so I didn't march downstairs and bring up all these concerns to the front desk. Also, the front desk person could have been friendly upon checking in. This level of maintenance and room quality is not what I have come to expect from this hotel. Given my previous good stays, I was surprised and unhappy with the overall condition of the room during this visit. I hope management addresses these issues so future guests can enjoy the high standard of accommodations that has made this one of my preferred places to stay in the East Bay.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND STAYCATION…read more I'm enrolled in different rewards programs such as airlines and casinos. One of the programs I'm enrolled in is Asia Miles. I hadn't earned miles through my Asia Miles account for close to 18 months. If I had not earned miles by May 30 all the miles I earned through Asia Miles will reset to zero. One of their partners is Courtyard by Marriott. I reserved a room for two nights during Memorial Weekend. The reason I booked Courtyard Newark Silicon Valley was due to the swimming pool as I needed something to do on my staycation. I came here Saturday afternoon. The guest room is spacious enough. The bed was really comfy. The staff was really nice. The lobby was clean and organized. I even like the Keurig coffee machine inside the room that had some coffee pods. There's a cafe opened in the morning when you can buy coffee and hot food. Despite all the positive attributes of this Marriott I gave the rating I did because I came for a staycation. After I checked-in on a Saturday afternoon I tried to swim in the swimming pool. Noticed I said "tried", but the swimming pool was cold. I ended going to the whirlpool. The next day on a Sunday I came back to the swimming in the afternoon. I noticed the debris from trees in the pool. There are a lot of trees around the pool. With the abundance of trees this pool needs to be cleaned constantly. During my stay there not only was the pool cold but also dirty. If I had to stay at another Courtyard by Marriott it wouldn't be here.

Looks like it's there permanently. Okay - it's funny to review a Hyatt Place because, on the surface, they're supposed to all be the same. And, really, staying in a chain hotel isn't as much fun as a local inn or privately owned boutique hotel, right? But with the World of Hyatt award program, we tend to stay in them for one-nighters when we're traveling from A-to-B, or to see a one-night event somewhere. I see differences even across the predictable model of suite-like rooms, the predictable breakfast items, and of course, the level of service. Okay - all that said, this property did pretty well upon my first visit last week! Check-in staff was friendly (but I had to ask for my World of Hyatt member free water). Parking is $10/night, not too terrible for Silicon Valley. The free full breakfast was as expected (and very, if not exactly, the same as in every US Hyatt Place): a fresh fruit salad option, a thawed frozen fruit option, oatmeal and toppings, a hot bar (this day had 1-egg omelets, cooked from frozen potato cubes, dry biscuits, and exceptional banger-like sausages- which were much better than the usual hotel sausage patty!). Loose oranges and bananas. Cereals, hard boiled eggs. Very good and plentiful coffee at breakfast. They had tv on playing a local morning news program and staff was doing a good job keeping the dining area clean. The room was clean and in good repair. I like their ottoman / coffee table in the sitting area and the side table that you can pull up to the bed if you're eating takeout in your room at night. There's also the usual wall-length desk/counter with a mini fridge. The coffee station is the old kind (not Keurig) with disposable plastic trays with a filter-bag of bad coffee for a one-cup situation. But it's on a counter by the door, along with the ice bucket and a few glasses, like a little bar. I liked that except that the outlet didn't work, so I had to plug the coffee maker in somewhere else in the room. Not a big deal. The bathroom is big and they're using their standard refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the big, nice shower (with sliding glass door, not a plastic curtain- Hilton, take a note). Front desk was always friendly when I passed by and I saw they had a nice bar and lobby sitting area, though I didn't use either. Parking lot in front and back was well-lit and felt safe. The location is in a sea of car dealerships but there's a neighborhood behind it with trees and a sidewalk so you could take a walk easily here. Also, there's a Costco down the street, which was bananas busy when I stopped in for some discounted liquor, but still convenient for gas and what have you. I'd return!
