I cannot say enough good about this rescue.  We adopted our wonderful furbaby from FSIR almost 4…read moreyears ago.  I found our dog on Petfinder and thought she was in the Bay Area, but she was actually in Taiwan.  I was apprehensive, but I researched as best I could and prayed about it and just went for it and it worked out beautifully!  Please don't let your apprehension about adopting from an overseas rescue deter you from adopting from this group.  They are legitimate.  Our vet was very impressed with the vet services our dog received from FSIR while in Taiwan.  I personally used to rescue dogs and I was very impressed with the vet services and level of care our dog received in Taiwan and while being transported to America.  In Taiwan, our dog was on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention.  This is of utmost importance for the health of a dog and some rescues don't attend to these needs because of the costs.  FSIR does and they sent us a healthy dog! Yenchi is FSIR's representative that was in contact with me.  She required pictures of our home and yard and my current vet's contact information. She also asked various questions regarding current and former pets and pet ownership.  She was in contact after the adoption for updates.  FSIR makes clear to you that pet ownership is a huge responsibility, both financially and personally.  I never felt like they were trying to push a dog off on me.  They are the type of group that does not want to adopt a dog to you if you are not serious about the responsibility of owning a pet.   Yenchi did a fantastic job of working out the details of the transport from Taiwan and was in clear contact with me about when/where to pick our dog up.  We picked our furbaby up at SFO and there were no problems.  It's my understanding that FSIR can work out adoptions to pretty much any airport that has a direct flight from Taipei. Please, please consider adopting from FSIR!  It's a legitimate rescue group who takes good care of the dogs they rescue and works hard to find the right homes for them.

Nice neighborhood Pet store that is packed with plenty of goods for your four-legged friends…read more The couple times I've been here, I've been greeted by the very nice store workers and even treated to free treats. There is a large supply and selection of mostly food, treats and other chewables but also a nice selection of toys and pet accessories. What I like and also grabbed on my last visit are the large sized Braised beef hide free chewables. These come in all different sizes and flavors including chicken, venison, duck and more. The more you buy; you can get slight discounts which is nice. Because of it was my 'first visit' I was treated to a hedgehog chew toy by outward bound! A gent I chatted with said it lasted his dog several months, so it sounds like quality, which we all like. Along with this, it's just nice to support a local business and though I've not yet met Paul (The owner) I've heard many nice things about him and as mentioned, each visit the staff are very friendly and helpful. I could not find anyone to help me except Maple Leaf Pet Corner and they have been amazing since the day I walked in with my new rescue! The entire team of vet techs, front desk gurus, the veterinarian's are all incredible people and have all shown to be compassionate, kind, honest and hard working! They are there to support us and our loyal companions! I recommend them to everyone including my own dog sitting and grooming clients.

Last visit they tried to get us to get vaccines they had already given my dog 2mons prior, wasted 30mins of our time asking questions, and then told us because of a technicality that I would half to reschedule and needed to leave. The other dog i took there they insisted she had an hyperthyroidism and after several visits with no luck after chasing tests and treatment, took her another vet for second opinion. One cray found a base ball tumor in her liver prevent her from eating. Again dont go here. They arent pragmatic and solutions based simply want to run a battery of tests that lead no where.

When I walked in the woman working, was extremely friendly, and so was the groomer who came out to get my dog. We double checked what I wanted for the grooming session and I came back in an hour to find that, his butt was trimmed. I had not asked for a trim, as this would have been covered in our discussion before I dropped off my dog. The groomer was very proud of the fact that she had taken artistic freedom to trim my dogs butt because she thought that was a good look. Im sorry but It is not her dog, he is my dog and it looks ridiculous. when I ask just for a bath I'm not wanting a bath and a trim. Despite the store being well put together and the staff friendly, I really didn't appreciate how the groomer decided what she was going to do to my dog when she has explicit instructions on what to do.
