I went to get my car inspected at the Autosmith the other day. Not because I heard good things…read more(just the opposite), but because I was feeling lazy and the Autosmith is close. They inspected it right away, and found that I needed new springs in the front--they said mine were broken. Their two options to fix the issue would have cost me approximately $615 (the "cheap" option) to $665. Well, folks, Tracey Phelps doesn't have $700 kickin' around, so I got a second opinion. My boyfriend, Jake, took a gander at the springs and being a car guy, noticed that the springs WEREN'T BROKEN AT ALL. The paint was peeling off, but otherwise totally fine! He then told me that the Autosmith tried to rip him off in the past and that I should head over to Bob's Auto in Essex. All in all, it cost me $65 for an oil change and inspection at Bob's Auto, as opposed to ten times that at Autosmith for work that I didn't even need. I know Autosmith is trying to expand and pay for their new stuff, but can they give their neighbors a break? I can't afford to pay for your new shop, and neither can most of us in this cruddy recession.

My family and I recently moved to Essex and received a coupon for a free oil change to Autosmith…read more Normally I do my own oil changes and wouldn't bother, but I figured why not. I was glad to see they found an issue in my front end (go figure with the wonderful roads in VT) while doing the oil change. It cost a bit more than a free oil change, but was certainly reasonable and the service was very prompt. Thank you again and I would recommend anyone to try them out for fair prices and honest quality.

The person arrived and simply used a heat gun to melt the ice, working for only one hour. When he finished, he demanded $716. When I spoke to him on the phone and asked for a discount, he threatened to call the police if I didn't pay the $716. I advise everyone not to go to him or contact this company; they are thieves and scammers, and I cannot trust them. They are thieves, thieves, thieves!... I advise you not to trust the service and nobody should ask for help from these services.

Typically we use Rick's Towing, but due to it being at the end of our workday, I reached out to tailhook towing, as they are literally one road over on Commerce Street. They sent a truck over to winch us out of the mud, a process that took under 30 minutes. One month later they sent me a bill for $700. I emailed him back asking if this was a mistake. It was not. Skip claims that this is the industry standard for winching. I reached out to two other companies, both of which assured me that $700 for a winch out, one block form there location and not even after hours was insane. I would not recommend Tailhook towing.
